Great cigar spot at the back of the bar with library vibe. Knowledgeable staff and very classy with movie feels.Wide array of cigars available for amateur to experienced smokers and have cool ways of cutting it.Whiskeys are way too expensive in my opinion hence not a 5*. $44 + tax + tip for 1oz of Glenlivet 18yrs.

Fantastic bar with a fine selection of whisky and classic cocktails. Cigars are also first rate and they have private label smokes easy to recommend. Perfect old school library / smoking room ambience. But the draw is the service which is impeccable and welcoming. I always look forward to coming to this establishment for a nightcap or late night cigar on every visit to NY.

Fantastic service! Drinks were tasty and suggestions were thoughtful. Low points for having no bags to keep your coat in to protect from the smoke. My winter coat is oh so ripened now. BYOB(ag) or be prepared for a dry cleaning order!

Lovely environment and experience. Food is goo, but it is a cigar and smoke lounge. Amazing chic ices and selections of cigars to go with the great alcohol. Must try the combination both. You wont regret, my favorite cigar the Monterey.

Expensive and smelly, but if you go in knowing that, it is a ton of fun. Staff are attentive. Whisky and cigar selection is excellent. Such a fun alternative to so many of the bars in the West Village, let alone all of New York. Excellent service from everyone who works there with calm, classy vibes every moment.I got the Pimms Cup and it was absolutely perfect and refreshing. Im not a regular smoker but its fun to sit down with some friends and enjoy a cigar while James Bond movies play on the TV in the back on repeat. They do have a limited beer list but the house specials are so delicious (and STRONG) that theyre worth the $18 price per drink.I cant speak to the list of in-house cigar offerings as Im no aficionado, so I always recommend picking up a cheap $10 cigar at a nearby smoke shop and paying the appropriate cutting fee at the bar (most cigars at the bar are pretty pricy to a novice like myself). But this is definitely a great place to end the night with some grade A vibes that arent found anywhere else in the city. It instantly teleports you back to a different time, with cozy, intimate seating and lighting. I love going to this place whenever Im in the area, especially on cool or rainy nights!

Decently priced cigars and a wonderful variety of fairly priced whiskeys. Service was stellar and helpful. The ambiance is dark, as a smoking room should be. Great place to relax and have a cigar without breaking the bank. I know I will be coming back with friends.

Bar and Books has the old world charm of leather bound works and the smell of multi wrapped cigars and whiskey. Smoking is allowed inside and people inside are knowledgeable of the products sold. Add this place to your list of stops when on the west side.

I stopped in here on a whim as I was walking by and assumed it was a book/library/literature-themed bar. Sure, there are some books, but this is just a very expensive, swanky cigar bar. So it depends on what youre looking for. If youre a wealthy banker getting off the job and looking for whiskey and cigar, Im sure youll love it. Otherwise, this place is probably going to be a little intimidating and/or unwelcoming.

Really depends if you like Cigars. If yes, go and have a cigar at the bar. If no, move along. Did not have food so cant weigh in on that.The drinks were great (vespa). Big selection of hard liquors. Great lighting and decor. As to the cigars, a most enjoyable experience. And I rarely have cigars.Would give it a 4.5

Comfortable and unpretentious cigar bar with a decent food menu and some great cocktails. The room is small and somewhat narrow, but there is a great patio outside for the warmer weather. Most of the folks there were couples, but they were two or three solo guys like myself just there to unwind with a cigar and a glass of whiskey. The selection of cigars is not very broad especially when considering the Maduro styles or the larger ring sizes, theirs top out at 60, but you can bring your own and there is a modest cutting fee of $12. This will probably be my go-to cigar bar now that Mike the Greek has left Soho, and the vibe there has changed so dramatically.

One of the finest Cigar Bar I’ve had the chance to see… strong and authentic, a place where you can sit down and enjoy a good drink with an amazing cigar.

One of the very few places in NY you can still smoke at. Ventilation system is really good so theres no smoke cloud in the air. My leechee martini was quite good.

Sasa makes the best sazarac I’ve ever had and has a distinguished charm about him that brings the gentleman’s atmosphere to a lovely place to relax .

They got rid of the build your own flights, and looks like they changed the Tuesday deals as well. So had to knock a star for that but its still an amazingly fun place to smoke and drink.

Made a reservation for 5 several days in advance. Came, female hostess completely rude, lost the reservation and tried to sit us in a table for 2 in the cold. Was rude and soured the whole night.

We sat outside on the little enclosed patio, which I really liked. The service was excellent and their scotch menu too although prices were higher than what Im accustomed to, but considering that this is one of their primary source of revenue, I cant entirely fault them. The cigar selection was well balanced, they had a lot of common staples, and some of their own. I do still think the menu was short, so this is why Im not rating it 5 stars. The crowd there was great and Id certainly visit again. I may try sitting at the bar next time.

Forgive the hugely inflated prices and the fact that they insist on cutting and lighting the cigars for you instead of letting you do it yourself. It’s a little cramped here but the vibe really is like no place else I’ve been to in New York City. definitely recommend if you’re into cigars and cigar culture. If not, I would avoid it because it’s very small and you’ll be breathing tobacco air the whole time.

This is the real deal- The service, atmosphere and vibe are all great. On a cool Autumn night or a frosty winter evening, youll want to stop in for a smoke, a drink of any kind and even James Bond films on the play loop.

Was here a couple years ago. Will never forget the experience when my business partner and I were sitting at a bar speaking about investing in talent and some black bartender heard our conversation and inserted his opinion (which was juvenile) without being asked or invited to.When your staff believes they have the power to behave that way, its not a business any more. Its supremacy.I hope magement team takes care of the issue and puts him back in his place. It makes a customer feel uncomfortable having important discussions in a venue.

It’s a lovely place. Good stuff. Friendly and all. But the whiskey 🥃 sour recipe should be considered another time. (First shake without ice, and in the second shake add the ice, otherwise it’s not a whiskey sour )But overall. Highly recommended to all cigar lovers 👍🏼

Salty cocktails !? Inexplicable.We ordered two classics ‘whisky sours’ and ‘old fashioned’. They both tasted the same - terrible, tasting of brine and completely undrinkable. Then we were patrolled by the staff as if they knew they’d served us something bad, but making it too awkward to complain. We just paid our $45 bill and left our unfinished saltwater behind.

Pours are a little skimpy, but atmosphere is amazing. Selection is second to none.

How the mighty have fallen.I’m told that before Covid this was a great place to have a cigar and scotch. No more. The first warning sign was that it was empty. There’s a reason for that.We sat in the back area and ordered 2 Montecristo #2 torpedos. The waitress told us they were sold out. We then ordered the Rocky Patels. After waiting about 15 minutes she again told us they were sold out. Finally we found a cigar that was in stock and ordered the Partagas.All was going smoothly until the bill arrived. We were overcharged for the cigars.I pointed this out to the waitress who understood and left to change the bill. Suddenly, the bar tender arrived screaming at us. “I served y’all 2 cigars!” He screamed. I said that’s correct, but they were out of stock so we had to get two cheaper cigars; therefore, the bill is wrong.“What?! What y’all talkin about?!”The bartender apparently has no knowledge of math or hospitality. I explained it again and finally he said“Oh. They is two different prices.” And turned around and went back to the bar.No apology. No “sorry about that,” no contrition at all. He is a moron running a bar that was once apparently a good place to get a cigar. He might be good running a liquor store on the lower East side, but has no business running a formerly nice place.Don’t go here. Go to Macanudo bar.

Their cigar selection is small but belnded exclusivily for them & excellent quality! I suggest a visit when the weather is warm to sit curbside. I always have a good mellow time when i visit and my friends (male and female) were comfortable and enjoyed the old world feel. I highly encourage a visit, a drink or several and definately a smoke!!!!

A quaint and service oriented cigar bar with solid liquor selection.

One of the rudest staff Ive ever had to displeasure of being served by. Went in with a friend on a Friday night to have a lovely night out. Didnt even have a chance to sit down before I was asked what Id like to drink. When we said we werent ready yet, I was given the nastiest look. Throughout the hour that I spent there, I was pressured to keep buying drinks every 10 minutes; I felt so uncomfortable. The staff was rude every time I interacted with them as if me being there was inconvenience to them. The atmosphere was hostile, and even the manager there was throwing glances across the room. In the end I was given a check without asking one and was told to free this pace for other patrons. Unbelievable. Would never give them my money again.

An endangered species in NYC, the cigar bar, of which Hudson Bar is a stand out. If you like a cozy room, a neat scotch, and a full bodied cigar look no further. Old school as it comes, but attracts all types of guests. Worth a stop in, even if you dont smoke. Outdoor seating available too.

Its a cigar bar. House gars are reasonably priced for Manhattan. Somewhat limited selection of name brands, all fairly steep. Lovely staff, very accommodating.

Not a welcoming place for women. Ladies, the restaurant caters to men only…rude men. & it is really uncomfortable. It appears the people working there don’t know the art of welcoming a small group of women. I don’t think this is safe place for women to go to.As an avid cigar smoker, there are other places you can go to. The prices are high & it’s too mediocre for the experience.

This will continue to be my favorite cigar bar in the city. With the ambience of an English club and a great menu of cigars, it’s the perfect place to sit back and relax after a long day at work. They have a fantastic whiskey selection to pair with the cigars and the service has always been top quality.

So if you want to get some fresh air, itd be better to sit outdoor. They can make excellent old fashions and dry martinis. I have been wanting to visit this place for years. But never get a chance until last night. A small little place with friendly staff. Hard working bartender, by himself, so it was hard to get his attention, but I was not in a hurry, just kept on smoking my Avo No. 2 until I couldn’t hold it anymore. A surcharge of 10$ for bringing your own smoke was not bad, compare to the cigar prices there. Some seatings out in the front but usually occupied since there are the best seats in the house. The bathroom features the world’s narrowest sink, really cute.Great selections of liquor, from every day stuff to the high end bottles.Over all, I will visit again. Cigar bars in NYC are rarity and this one stands above its peers.

Tiny but great cigars and alcohol selection

I cannot describe how much I hate living near this place. The bar serves cigars and encorages guest to smoke in their outdoor seating, which is right next to a playground. My neighborhood stinks of tobacco and is littered with cigar detritus. This establishment is a blight on the neighborhood.EDIT: the owner response says our signage clearly prohibits smoking outdoor our establishment. There is literally outdoor seating--with ashtrays--in the middle of the sidewalk.

Negative experience when attempting to patronize this establishment. A group of 6 ready to have a good time were rudely turned around at the door and told they were not open despite listed hours showing open for 45 minutes and other patrons inside of establishment. Luckily, we found great service at Soho Cigar Bar.

Enjoyed this place. Diamond in the rough. There arent many cigar bars now. This one is cozy with a good size bar and some out door seating. Dim lighting and a nice whisky/bourbon selection. Some fun cocktails as well. Service was personal and sweet. Will come back again!

This is a great cigar bar if you can get in. Its quite small and narrow and gets packed on weekends. We discovered that on Tuesdays, they do Whiskey Tuesday! That means that all whiskey/scotches are discounted. I had an $80 of scotch for $30 bucks. No complaints there. The selection of cigars is pretty good albeit a little overpriced. They have great cocktails too. I like this place. Its a great place for a small group to hang out.

Excellent liquor selection and you can smoke inside the bar as well as buy cigars here. Great atmosphere of books, wood and leather with a very old school feel to it. James Bond films are always playing in the background. Closes extremely late, typically 3 or 4 am, and has a knowledgable staff that is attentive and can help you pick your scotch or whatever you enjoy.

Cool place to enjoy a fancy whiskey or scotch and a cigar but stay away if you arent a fan of the smoke. Great ambiance with big cushy couches and fine leather bound books abound. If you arent a connoisseur of whiskey, go for one of the tasting flights. The scotch one was particularly good and had a great range of flavors.

I went here on my birthday and ended up walking out in disappointment. Their ventilation system was terrible, even for such a small place compared to any other places Ive been to in New York. The worst part was there cigar selection. Everything was old, stuff my grandfather would have smoked. Nothing of the newer age brands. I was hoping to spend some money and smoke something along the lines of a Padron but even a Rocky Patel would have sufficed. They had house cigars but Im not willing to pay premium prices for a house blend thats mediocre-at-best. I guess the only plus to this Lounge is bringing your own cigar is an option. Maybe for a newcomer in the cigar world this is place to try but for an seasoned smoker I wouldnt waste your time.

Heres what you need to know:- A time-honored cigar bar in the west village- In the warmer months, its a great spot to grab a sidewalk seat, a class of cognac and enjoy a cigar while you people watch- When it cools down, they build covered sections for the outdoors, but the indoors is equally as charming, reminiscent of an old library (as the name suggests)

One of the last places to have a cigar indoor in a bar in NYC, but feels run down and the service has a weird feeling to it

So the guy next to me says to his smoking companion, if they want that we should pay up, let them come and find theyre lousy money, cuz I aint got no idea where it is. True story. This place is legit. Go for the drinks, stay for the entire James Bond looping to your right.
