Easily one of the best restaurants in NYC, and at the very top of Harlem. I’ve been here a dozen times over the past year or so, and should have reviewed it sooner. The food is excellent, a blend of Venezuelan and Indian influence. There’s a dish for everyone, with some American dishes as well. I particularly love the brunch service where they make lamb hash, and the fried chicken with pickled strawberries is among the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city. $25 bottomless brunch is a safe bet, and finally the service is just so good - going here feels like you’re among family. The host that seats you also serves tables, and they’re among the friendliest, kindest I’ve met in the city. My wife and I look for any excuse to come here - if you haven’t been, GO!

One of the best places in Harlem ! Love the food and the drinks. Friendly people make you feel comfortable and enjoy your meal. We tried 4 plates and each one was better than the next. I really enjoy the duck and the portobellos. But to be honest I cannot said what from the 4 plates was the winner . Thank you and we will be back!

We were the second party to be seated right after they opened for the day. The owner wasn’t very welcoming and the server initially seemed to follow lead. The server became more pleasant later on. They must have been stressed by the inclement weather (rain) and an event that they were hosting.Any way, I’m glad that we weren’t deterred from dining there. The food was extremely delicious and the drinks were delightful (a bit heavy on the ice though). The decor and atmosphere were nice, too. Did I mention that the food was yummy? Like so good!

Celebrating a friends birthday we were a group of maybe 20/25 people . We were seated in the quaint back patio area and it was so charming. The drinks were superb , a must try is the archer it was simply perfect. Roasted chicken peas and crispy Brussels sprouts were a party in your mouth with the flavor profiles. The slider was delightful , a perfect bite size portion , crispy pickle . I could go on forever . I will definitely be back.

This was a great spot. Small good menu, good and filling options. Pictured is the hot chicken and the Lamb and potato skillet. Price on average was 20-30 per plate. The service was friendly and the local felt trendy but also cosy. Would come here again to try their other menu (we did brunch).

Food and drinks came out in a timely manner.Food: French toast was good, but I suggest you get the toppings on the side if you don’t like sweet food because it is a lot. Breakfast Arepas was also good. Fries are delicious. I wouldn’t recommend the A&G Hot Chicken Sandwich. Just wasn’t good.Don’t get the A&G hot chicken sandwich.

Came to this place on a whim after lunch. Honestly, wasn’t looking to go in the first place, but was really drawn in by the decor, and the unique name. I mean an archer and a goat sounds pretty cool. And while you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, this one was pretty good, and I wasn’t disappointed. Cocktails were reasonably priced with front and back patio, seating, and ample space inside. Everything was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and made great conversation.

Great place for brunch with friends. Got a reservation for outside as we had a doggie in tow, awesome that they provided a water bowl for the doggie to chill off. And super understanding when our puppy had a bit too much energy and spilled over waters.Ordered the A&G Hot Chicken Sandwich & French fries, Skillet Lamb Hash and Spiced French Toast. Split between three people. Not disappointed and all were tasty. More than enough for us three and also had the bottomless mimosas. Id be back w/o doggie to have a more enjoyable experience.

I was really happy to go here, however the hygiene was really disappointing. The chefs young daughter arrived (which was so sweet) and he held her hands in adorably cute way, then proceeded to touch and play with his phone for her. Grossly, he then went right into the kitchen and started grabbing food with his bare hands (including raw salad that I saw be prepared for other guests). I did not order any food after that. Especially if youre going to have an open air kitchen that the guests can see into, I really recommend demonstrating greater levels of hygiene. Food was absolutely decent (7/10) and the servers were really nice. Ambiance was okay.

My favorite restaurant in Harlem. The flavors are complex and still balanced. Nothing is too spicy or too sweet or too sour. All of the innovation is in combinations that in hindsight you shouldve been doing all along. Rice loves turmeric. Pasta loves saffron. Brussels sprouts love chimichurri. Lamb loves a balance rather than a punch of spices.I will probably go to this place far too often, but thats my curse in life. My recommendation is to at least get the brussels sprouts, the corn and coconut soup, the shrimp curry, and/or the lamb ribs. Actually, I recommend everything, but I know if youre reading this youre rapidly going through your phone needing someone to make a decision for you.I got you boo: brussels sprouts for the table (arepas too if 4). You get the shrimp curry. Finish with the key lime tart.

Went for Sunday brunch in August 2022 after a recommendation from NY Eater’s 15 Brunches Worth Planning the Weekend Around. It was an amazing fusion of favors I haven’t found anywhere else! It suited both my local vegetarians and Aussie omnivorian friends. We had (L-R) grilled cauliflower arepas benedict with shishito peppers, roasted portobello mushroom arepas with chimichurri and pickled onion and chili, French toast w pistachio and date crumble and rose whipped cream, and a braised lamb hash (top). All must haves!Everything was delicious. We topped it off with a meyer lemon tart and tres leches panna cotta. But really the staff made the difference. Our server Julio, in his signature Van Gogh starry night Godzilla T, suggested everything we ordered and gave us a detailed explanation of arepas. He had superior service and was very accommodating. The front patio is perfectly shaded as is the garden. Don’t let the reservationist tell you it’s in full sun. There are tables by the bar, but when it’s not COVID, I’ll be taking the table by the kitchen to watch the action. The owner Alex was expo’ing and was very appreciative of feedback. We took the first seating at 11am and it filled quickly after 12:30pm.

Our friend is ultra VIP here, so we enjoyed a delicious array of tasty brunch dishes. Creativity-wise, A&G is better than 95% of the boring, overpriced egg brunch spots south of 125th St--but dont tell the plebs that.- Chicken Vindaloo Arepas: Spiced, seasoned and flavorful. Dont skip these.- Langostino & Saffron Pappardelle: Off the dinner menu but available for brunch too. If you like your noodz long, thick and slurpy, get this.- A&G Hot Chicken Sandwich & French Fries: The sauce was a bit too sour-sweet for me, but some people love that flavor profile. Those people will likely love this. Also, pickled strawberries. See what I mean about creativity?- Breakfast Arepas: Classic yet new--hanger steak, cilantro hollandaise and poached organic eggs but with so much more flavor than Euro-leaning restaurants. Id eat this every day if I could.- Skillet Lamb Hash: More pulled lamb than ground lamb, but mixed with those potatoes, peppers and onions, and youll be baaaaah-ing with pleasure.Libation-wise, youll find some unique mocktail AND cocktail creations to suit every palate. The Fig mocktail, for instance, was warm and sweet without being overpowering, while the Guava Mocktail brought the tangy ginger on, and the Hibiscus Ginger mocktail nicely balanced tang with floral notes.South Asian-LatAm fusion FTW!

Really enjoyed the vibe and outdoor seating. Food was delicious but portions a bit smaller than expected given the price point. Our original waiter outside was really chill and nice, but I guess they must have ended their shift before we were finished — the person who sat us and gave us the check could not have been less welcoming/hospitable. If it wasn’t for that interaction I would be more keen to return…

Can I give this place six stars for service? Zachary (my server) and Tomas were amazing. I have had a hard go of things after being run over by an SUV. This restaurant is my bright light as it is close enough to my house that I can be wheeled there. They were so nice and kind and made sure I was very comfortable. They remember me each time I come to dine and ensure everything is perfect.Aside from that, this is one place where I dont have to ask for extra seasoning or spices. The flavors are full-on delicious. Im so glad I found this restaurant that has a fusion of delicious flavors. Everything Ive tasted is absolutely fab.

I dont usually post negative reviews because I think everyone can make mistakes. However, I had the most frustrating experience in this place. Theres nothing worse than walking into a restaurant with a smile on your face and walking out upset.First of all, the food wasnt as good as Id expected given the prices - think again. Worst of all, I was asked to finish my dinner at the bar because there was a reservation on the table where I was sitting (noting that they didnt give notice beforehand). The request was simply inappropriate and very poorly handled because I hadnt finished my dinner. I would never accept being pushed around for something I pay for but unfortunately some restaurants dont consider the customer and only think about piling up the bill. The owner apologized but I honestly didnt feel any sincerity. Not a single gesture from him either.

Last Sunday, we decided to give this nearby brunch spot a shot. Its conveniently close to our apartment, and weve been curious about it for a while. I wish I could give a more positive review, especially considering its a local joint, but truth be told, the food left much to be desired and felt quite pricey. Even the smallest glass of orange juice set us back $6. I opted for the hot chicken sandwich and fries at $25, but it didnt really stand out, and the combination of spicy and strawberry flavors didnt quite hit the mark for us. My boyfriend went for the breakfast arepas priced at $29, and while flavorful, it didnt feel like a worthy splurge, but given all the other options on the menu, this was the best we could do. The spiced French toast, coming in at $22, had a nice texture but leaned heavily on the sweet side and we were just not impressed. I must say, the service was pleasant, which was a plus, but the food itself could definitely use some improvement. Regrettably, I wouldnt recommend this spot.

Bruh… as soon as we walked in the host/waiter greeted us as if he was so upset that we came in. He pointed us to a table, put menus down and never returned. After about 12 minutes of sitting, not even a water brought to us, the bartender had to come from behind the bar to do someone else’s job. When our food came out, my lamb hash tasted as if it had been marinating in dish water. I had to send it back, which I hate having to do. After the waiter, had a small conniption, he asked what else I would like. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich instead and it was much better. The bartender tried to make it right and brought me what he said would be a comp mimosa, but the waiter still charged me for it. We will never be returning here. The bartender and the chicken sandwich were the saving grace, but still not enough to make me want to ever patronize this place again.

It’s okay, the food isn’t bad or anything it’s good but nothing that stands out, but the music is very loud to the point we couldn’t hear the server. When we were asked if we wanted tap or sparkling water we weren’t expecting to be charged $7 for said sparkling water (though I suppose that’s on us for not checking? If the waiter said anything about it costing more we couldn’t hear her) it took quite a while for the water to arrive too, funny enough our food showed up first. Although this wasn’t necessarily the restaurant’s fault perhaps it was one of the staffs daughters or even the owners? But a child was laying across the seat right next to us all alone on her tablet and frequently kicked us and our stuff, but no one was there to move her or ask her to stop. Individually these things wouldn’t bother me, but altogether I’d say it made for a solid 3/5 experience.

This is a nice little neighborhood spot for brunch with a friend or two. The space is small and cozy but lively and airy with good lighting. The brunch time fills up quickly and they don’t seat according to seat/area preference but in a strategic pattern of filling up the back of the restaurant first and proceeding along the wall towards the front. The decor is modern and simplistic. The staff are friendly and attentive and continually checked in with us during our meal. We ordered drinks from their menu which I felt was short but fine for brunch choices. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary which was rimmed with some kind of spice and garnished with an okra tip. She enjoyed it very much. I ordered a Sunrise or Sunset named drink which arrived a little over half a small wine glass. The server assured me that was the correct serving but it just felt overly priced at $15. For an entree I ordered their chicken sliders with bacon jam. The biscuits were melt-in-your mouth good, moist and light and golden and what I like to term, “made with love”. The chicken, for me, appeared overly fried as they had a slightly burnt look but surprisingly wasn’t dry or hard. I felt it contained too much sodium, I don’t have high blood pressure or anything but it just tasted a bit salty, especially wit the bacon jam which was really good but I applied it very sparsely to my sliders. The sliced strawberries on the slider were a surprise and complimented the sliders very well. A side of pickles are always appreciated in my book lol.My friend ordered the shredded lamb hash over potatoes. Let me tell you this was delicious. It was a bit spicy for my taste but the lamb was so tender and melt-in-your-mouth good! The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned and flavorful. Again, it’s spicy but if that’s your thing you’ll love it. I might go back sometime, I’ve been trying to be more adventurous in 2020 with trying new foods. I wish this new business much luck and success.

I really wanted to enjoy this place, the food was decent, but I was disheartened by the service. We were rushed during our food service 4 times ( even though we were still ordering) and given rude remarks and looks by their wait staff. We felt 100% uncomfortable and sought to connect with a manager who essentially told us that it’s a 1 hour max time for service. That isn’t indicated on any of their website or menu communications and there were other customers that were there for longer than an hour: I won’t be returning and will advise you to spend your money elsewhere.Update: As you can see from Alex’s response and inaccurate account of our interaction, I can see why the wait staff behaved in this manner towards us. Two paying customers that were STILL ordering in a restaurant that was half full. We were not there 2 and half hours, check our receipt and you and your staff proceeded to talk loudly about having us move while we were still eating. For the manager to think this is acceptable way of handling paying customers is concerning. It starts from the top and if you needed further evidence of their rudeness and willingness to tell false truths, you have it here in Alex’s response.

The food was very good (get the brussel sprouts!) but the experience really brought down the rating! When we made the reservation, they did not inform that the table would be outside, where there are just a couple heaters, so if youre on the other side of the table, youll feel nothing. When we asked the server, he seemed very indifferent, unapologetic and did not offer or consider in any way to move us inside (granted we were a table of 8 so maybe that wasnt possible, but at least saying he could check would have been appreciated!). Though he did bring blankets which were appreciated. While the server was very friendly, he was just too inattentive. Its a small restaurant and perhaps theyre understaffed.. but we sat outside for 2.5 hours, in 35 degrees. The dinner could have taken 1.5 hour if we didnt have to wait so long for just about everything. Now that its full on winter, the restaurant needs to be way more mindful of the outdoor tables and 1) actually inform customers when they make reservations that the table will be outdoors and 2) be more attentive so that were not sitting in the freezing for hours. Or if its really going to take that long for food, offer to move us inside when a table clears up!

I had the carne asada which was good...meat was cooked perfectly as was the tostones and husband had the burger and fries to which he stated he enjoyed the burger which was nice and juicy but the fries were a downer for him. He and I agree for the prices we were expecting bigger portions and his fries he felt for 21 bucks should have been more than shoe string fries....nothing special (hard and cold). The prices will keep us away but I think I will pass by just for the music alone lol....

I don’t come to this part of town often but after coming here, I’ll make sure I come back. The food was some of the best fusion you can get here in NYC, hands down. The drinks were spot on and the place had a great vibe. I had a great time with my party and can’t wait to come back in the near future to try out other options.

Excellent food and flavors. For brunch, got the chicken sandwich, which was spicy (and salty) - creative and delicious. Fries were PERFECT. Added an egg on top, cooked perfect. The lamb hash was also delicious, eggs perfect again and filling. Chai tea filled with spices. Service was very friendly and the offering of a clean blanket to stay warm outside is a memorable, thoughtful touch. Highly recommended. Will be back to try more. Make a reservation.

I was looking for a restaurant in Harlem to celebrate my friends birthday. Well, Well i stumbled upon the Great “ Archer and Goat” on 187 Malcom X- Lenox Avenue. The food, the service and ambiance is magnificent ! I had the Lamb rib dish, my friend had the Duck dish, along with the tumeric and orange tequila cocktail and my friend had the Naz. Just plain wonderful, shout out to, the fabulous Tomas, the owners family member, whose hospitality was excellent. And Natasha who was our main waiter, knowledgeable, professional, kind and sweet, from beginning to the end. Please do not eat a single thing here! They are not sanitary! My friend & I came here for brunch one Sunday and sat towards the back right outside the kitchen area where you can literally watch how your food is being made. I sat facing the kitchen and was APPALLED at the complete LACK of cleanliness by the staff especially the ones who were working the kitchen. One woman wiped the counter clean with a dirty towel then prepared food with no gloves..no one wore gloves?? No she didn’t wash her hands either I saw another staff member put his BARE hand into a plastic container and then garnished someone’s plate with it. Why not use utensils? Everyone is having open conversations over your meal no masks worn nothing. I was so grossed out by what I saw that we LEFT! I’ll never go back there. Plus the menu was very small and didn’t have many options.

Archer and Goat has a cute decor and ambiance and solid brunch options. I had the chai which was well spiced and the skillet lamb hash and my friend got the arepas and the bottomless mimosa. I had a little bit of buyer’s regret with getting the lamb hash because the arepas looked amazing and my friend loved them. I heard from the waitress that skillet lamb hash was spicy, but honestly it wasn’t at all. In fact, I think it was under-seasoned and definitely needed more salt. It was a bit disappointing for me. The poached eggs were well executed though. The restaurant was a bit loud and the waitress took a long time to bring us our check after we were finished, despite the restaurant clearing out and not being too busy when we were ready to pay the bill. I hope my experience was just a one off and I think I would have enjoyed the arepas more if I had ordered them but I was not a huge fan of my dish.

Had brunch here awhile ago, which was kind of a mess. They messed up the orders and the service was very slow and generally not good, but it was right after the pando and I think they had only recently opened. So, I cut them some slack and didnt leave a review. Tonight I stopped in to have a quick drink while waiting for someone. I ordered a dry belvedere martini, shaken, very cold with a twist and it was really not good. First it wasnt very cold at all, so I asked the barmaid to shake it again, which she evidently did with the lemon peel still in it. It was cloudy, and near undrinkable. And it was 20 bucks. The music playing was tragic 90s retro, from Pearl Jam to Paula Abdul - the bar crowd were eclectic Harlem-ites, and either ignoring or not feeling it. As a musician I thought Wrong music. Read the room. All in all it was a mediocre experience.

After a couple of bites literally, I advised the waiter that it just wasnt my taste...between the spice, apricot, and syrup it was just sweetness overload plus the fact that it didnt come with a meat or side to balance the dish out. He removed the French toast however he didnt ask if I wanted something different or did I need to see the menu. I never saw the French toast again and ended up paying 22 for food I didnt eat. If I was still going to be charged for the meal then the waiter should have been placed in a to-go box and I could have given it to a family member. The food was great but the service/execution was among the worst Ive had.I ordered a burger with a side of fries. The burger came out about 5 minutes before my partners entree. The fries about fifteen minutes after that, which then get routed to the wrong table, so they had to be remade. We still had a missing small plate, and when we asked, it turned out the waitress had forgotten to put it into the system. The burger was great though. And the sofrito ketchup was very tasty, though the portion with the fries was too small and cost another $2 to get more to finish them. The rogan josh on pasta was a fun variation, but the pasta was slightly undercooked, in my opinion.Still, we live nearby and will likely come again, in hope that the service issues were a one time fluke.
