Aria wine bar in NYC is a must-visit! Our server, Alyssa, was fantastic - attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. The wine list is extensive, and we enjoyed several varieties thanks to Alyssas expert guidance. The bread, freshly baked and perfectly crispy on the outside, was served with a side of high-quality olive oil for dipping - a simple yet delicious combination.Overall, Aria wine bar is a gem in the heart of NYC. Great wine, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. Dont miss it!

Great pasta spot, but very crowded and the servers are definitely overworked and hence a bit rude. The actual food is delicious, we had the eggplant, the crab cakes, the mushroom fettuccine and the shrimp rigatoni - the portions are generous and the flavor is on point. I wish it was a bit less loud and crowded! But would highly recommend for the food.

I love this little Italian gem. The food is great; I would always recommend their daily specials (see pics(i got the black truffle gnocchi, and my friend got their pasta vongole in rosso*chef kiss*)). The wine is at a decent price w/ great everyday selections. There was a small incident during this particular visit, but I wont blow up their spot due to it was out of their control. However, it wouldve been nice for the waiter to show more empathy than just say ohhh (comp wine, discount on bills, even apologizing to us wouldve been nice). Again, I understand the issue (I still wont say) was out of your control, but if youre in customer service, then be more hospitable.I frequent here and never really had an issue, so I will go back still (for now). However, I wont be so nice about it if I encounter any negative experience.

Great restaurant for any occasion. Had been to the 51st St. location before for dinner over Italian tapas and had a great experience too. But the West Village location provides the same excellence in the food and service with the magic of being in the West Village. Brunch was great, with a good mix of white omelette, gnocchi, tuna tartare, and refreshing spritzer based on Campari and Proseco. We got there around 1 pm for brunch, witbout reservation, and did not wait at all. Were able to accommodate a stroller and enjoy a great service until we felt satisfied. Fresh in-house - made bread is delicious too.At the 51st street we did have to make reservation and felt much more crowded. Will be coming back multiple times!

Wonderful place to eat. Its a sister restaurant to Terra, which we stumbled upon the day after we had dinner at Aria and had no idea they were related until we ate there. Excellent food, elegant and very respectful staff, very nice menu and food options. Not a cheap place, but its worth the money you spend. Ambiance is quite dark for dinner, which kind of contributes to the experience. Very cool place indeed, recommended.

We have always loved this place and always eat here when we are in NY. This time we were put in a separate space next door, which was a disaster. We had a waitress who was so manic and just didn’t listen and made our experience super stressful. We had people with allergies in our group and one member of staff would say a menu item was gluten and dairy free and the waitress would then tell us we couldn’t eat it. We just couldn’t get a straight answer on anything - so we were really uncomfortable. We were then told we had a compulsory 20% tip added because there were 8 of us!This place is usually a lovely relaxed vibe with great service and wonderful management and we have had many superb meals here - it was like a different restaurant this time which is such a shame. Honestly, they should not do the separate room or at least staff it with experienced staff who are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable- if this had been our first experience, we would not return.Lesson learnt for us - ensure we book in the main restaurant next time!

Walked in tonight with my husband to grab some drinks and a few appetizers at the bar. Was told by the hostess that unless we were ordering dinner (not drinks and appetizers) we couldnt come in. Her reason was that they were very booked and unless we were planning to order dinner we could not sit at the bar, AKA unless we were spending the money on dinner they wanted to save the seats for poeple who would be. There were atleast 8 seats at the bar, which have always been first come first serve, no reservations for the bar. We live a block away and usually come here twice a month for drinks or dinner. Was one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood, but how you are treated matters and unfortunately we wont be coming back.

Searched RESY for a tapas restaurant and was plenary surprised when an Italian restaurant showed up. We did not have reservations and went at 5 on a Friday. We were seated with no issue, at this point it was basically empty. Within half an hour there wasn’t a seat in the place. We had the grilled octopus salad as well as the goat cheese and mango salad to start. Both were outstanding. For main courses we had the lobster risotto and the lamb shank. The lobster was cut into pieces like little prizes throughout the risotto. The bone on lamb shank over risotto was so tender it fell off the bone.We will absolutely be back, we loved this meal!

Would not go back. My first experience there was great, however this time was lacking. Once we were seated, no one asked for our drink order for quite awhile. Actually another waiter (not ours) asked if someone had helped us. Food: carpaccio was great and enjoyed the octopus. However, need to take the scampi off the menu or redo it. Wasnt cooked well and the garlic was way too strong. Service is probably the main reason I will not go back. Waiter was not attentive at all and did not come around to ask if we wanted another round before last call at eleven (guess neighbors arent happy with the noise) or get us our bill. Credit card was on the table for about 15 minutes.

The octopus had been sliced into bite sized pieces and arranged in a beautiful presentation over a bed of salad made with celery, thin sliced potatoes, tomatoes and more. Aria is one of my go-to spots in the city. There is another location in the theater district and every time I go, I have a great experience. There is a great wine selection, and glasses are inexpensive (think $7-$10). The ambiance is that of many places in NYC - crowded, a little loud, and somewhat tight. A great date night spot for some great eats, without breaking the bank.Get the grilled octopus appetizer, served with pesto, potatoes, and white bean salad. Its not on the menu, but has been a special every night that Ive dined there. The lobster ravioli is a small portion, but its SO good. Get it with one other person to split as an appetizer. The service is great, the bread served with olive oil is addicting, and you will definitely come back. My girlfriend and I went to Aria for dinner on a Friday night, expecting it to be one of the better places in the West Village. The menu that we discovered when we got to the restaurant was completely different to what was online. Online it looked like authentic Venetian cicchetti. In reality the menu was pretty stock standard Italian. Fine. The real issue was that the food was shocking. A humble neighbourhood Italian restaurant wouldn’t serve that. They have their pride. Salsiccia pasta with what looked like slices of pork bangers in a watery bowl of pasta. And it tasted how it looked. It was repulsive. I am a terrible cook and I would happily take the chef on in a salsiccia pasta off. There is no James Beard chef back there, I can assure you. This place may have changed ownership. We also had a very average stewed calamari, a Buffalo mozzarella that was just regular mozzarella. We tried three types of wine trying to find something decent, and failed. In 6 years living in NYC, this was probably my worst experience, tied with the time I ate watery, cheeseless Mac and cheese at Dallas BBQ (I know). The service was not exactly a compensatory factor. Neither was the price. Avoid this restaurant at all costs, literally every other restaurant will be a better call.

One of my favorite places to eat in the city. If you come at peak time you will have to wait, but it is worth it. You will be squeezed in next to someone you know or maybe you dont, but this feels like real New York to me. It is basically Italian tapas with some bigger main plates. I love to mix and share, but my favorites are the meatballs, so tasty and they melt in your mouth, and I love the truffle Mac and cheese. This was my favorite Mac and cheese ever, but they changed it slightly and I found one elsewhere a bit better, but it is always super tasty and not overly runny creamy like many can be. Other notable items are the oysters, burrata, steak and eggplants with goat cheese. The wine is all delicious too. I take all out of town visitors here and they have always loved it!

I dont think I can say enough about this place. I have been here twice now, and both times were fantastic. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because it can be a little unorganized in their seating process. They do not take reservations for small groups, and will leave an entire table open while they wait for a reservation that isnt supposed to come for another hour. However, their food and atmosphere makes up for that! Aria has a great menu of Italian dishes and a greats selection of wine. The ambiance is cozy with a definite Italian flare. There is one large communal table and a few smaller tables. There is also a bar that runs the length of this small restaurant that is also a great choice to sit at. The waiters all know the menu very well and can make educated suggestions about both the food and the wine. From the moment you walk past the charming Christmas lights that decorate the outside of this west village gem, and through the doors, you feel like you have just entered a special place. The last time I was there, my friends and I ordered wine, a cheese and meat charcuterie option, a beet salad with goat cheese and a phenomenal small plate that was some type of eggplant with ricotta and marinara sauce. The Montepulciano dAbruzzo wine was a terrific option to go with the meal.I really cant speak highly enough about this place, and I am looking forward to going back and working my way through their menu.

Had a lovely dinner experience at Aria with friends - we ordered wine and a bunch of small plates to share, and all loved the food. They have a ton of specials each day, so keep an eye out for those, but also highly recommend the mushroom truffle bruschetta, the gnocchi, and the meatballs. Very reasonably priced and delicious! The servers were also wonderful and let us sit and talk for a long time without being pushy even at a busy dinner hour. The restaurant gets VERY loud though, so sit by the window or go early/ late if you want to be able to hear people around you. Make a reservation in advance on Resy!

This place is absolutely terrible - it looked cute and felt like it had great vibes and was packed as well so I mistakenly assumed it would be good, but the food was totally bland, waiter never checked on us ... but the real reason Im writing this review is for the totally totally rude, aggressive and horrible behavior of one of the waiters. He was brash, obnoxious and literally told us you guys have to leave I have a lot of people waiting when I had barely touched my pasta. We were in the resto for about an hour at this point. The food was brought out so quickly from when we ordered, I dont think anything was particularly fresh and arrived cold. On top of that, this man was aggressive with literally kicking us out , including the couple next to us, and hovered on top of us when we were paying with the card machine, making it awkward for tipping. The host apologized a few times for his behavior but Id never return, total waste with the amazing Italian food options in this city.

The service was poor and the waiter pressured us to give a tip. We initially did not want to leave a tip but the waiter was looking over our shoulder while we paid and then told us its compulsory to tip at least 15% in New York. He was very rude and standoffish. The food was nothing special at all.

Super cozy place but can get a bit too cozy at times, especially when they try and squeeze you in to every nook and corner of the restaurant. We been there numerous times for drinks or a quick bite and its been fine but this Time we went on a Sunday around 4:30 and our seats were shared with the staff since we were in their way, sitting behind the counter so it was super uncomfortable. We asked to be moved but they said that all the tables were taken....I wish I had taken a pic because the restaurant was empty and it was an odd time so people wouldnt start coming until 6. We had a good time regardless and the wait staff is good from what I remember. The hosts however werent so friendly.

Aria is ideal for sharing an intimate, meaningful experience with a romantic partner, family member or good friend. Comforting aromas permeate the candlelit environment, which is quintessentially cozy. Despite closely positioned tables and its invariable full-occupancy, Aria retains its rustic, intimate vibe. The array of Italian small plates are exceptional in taste and excellent for sharing. Portions trend small but the contents heavy, so order plentifully but cautiously.A professional but relatable wait staff further enhance a consistently fantastic Aria experience.

The year is 2017. The idea of a dinner reservation is well established in society. But the Aria West Village failed to grasp this concept. We showed up exactly on time with our full party, yet our table wasnt ready. Understandable, things happen and a 15 minute wait past our reservation was just within reason. Skip forward 30 minutes later with no contact from the staff. Upon pressing the manager we find out a prior reservation to ours was late and given priority over us. This is the reason we decided to no longer wait. This is the reason we wont be back. We tried to look past the rudeness of the staff and manager but being cut by a late party and left outside over half and hour past our reservation was the stopping point for our party.

Awful service. Went there for a very early dinner and asked for a table for 1. The lady at the door looked me up and down in a judgemental way as if I should be ashamed for thinking of dining alone. There was only one table occupied by patrons. Plenty of tables free. She refused to let me sit at a table because she had a few reservations. So she got me to sit at the bar and then walked away. Nobody came over to offer me water let alone take my order so I got up and left. Didnt even try the food because the service was that bad.

This is such a great spot for a casual Saturday night date! I came for the wine but was pleasantly surprised when the food turned out to be even better. Cute place, friendly staff, good wine. Food is average at best. Mussels had almost no flavor. Bolognese came out so quickly after I ordered it, I was suspicious. Pasta was a bit overcooked, and again, not a whole lot of flavor. Small bits of carrots in the sauce were still a bit crunchy...not the best food around.
