I struggle with this place. First, let me say I’ve actually often enjoyed the drinks I’ve gotten here. My problem with Fresh Salt is service-related. I think they’re generally under-staffed, so when a group of people come from work or whatever (who else is going to happy hour in the Seaport?) their first reaction in my multiple experiences there is annoyance, or passive-aggression. As one example: they don’t have a host, yet they’ll be rude to you if you don’t magically intuit that, say, moving tables is against their rules (there’s no signage which makes this clear, either). The drinks are good, but given all of the alternatives mere steps away, it’s just not worth the hassle.
I really enjoyed stopping in here ahead of seeing a show at Pier 17! Cozy bar with decent food, the kale Caesar salad was a definite win! They also have happy hour until 7!
Small, unassuming, lovely little place. The music was good, food tasty, and prices very reasonable. While I didn’t have their happy hour specials, they did have them. Came here on a recommendation, and am glad to have had the chance to visit.
Love, love, love this cute bar. Our go to place with my friend for some cider and their Artichoke dip is to Die for!!! Thank me later!
Great cocktails, love the light food options. Good place for after work happy hour. Order at the bar, friendly staff.
Nothing not to love. Great happy hour prices, excellent service, a nice menu perfect for lunch or afternoon drinking and all of this in the charming South Street Seaport area.
Loved the drinks, food, and bartender here! Tried the special Lemon Hop cocktail with a peep on top, as well as tzatziki dip and avocado salad. Delicious! Will return when in NY
I work nearby & I looooove this place. Anne & Antonio are incredible mixologists!! The manager Deena is nice. I tend bar, and I have to say that they handle a bug crowd faster AND *friendlier* than I have ever experienced.Even after I transfer to a different office, Ill always come back and bring all my friends here. Theyre kind, great conversation, and professional. What a hidden gem in NYC. Come find out for yourselves. Cheers!
Great service, very friendly and low key atmosphere. Happy hour is 4-8 and includes well liquor so there’s something for everyone including some yummy beers.
A great low key relaxed barNo pretentiousness here but not a lame bar either. A single bartender was running it around 1-2am but the place was decently crowded without it being uncomfortable or the service too slow!!They have a chocolate peanut butter whiskey drink that was a 5/5, $14.Open till late!
I never tried the food, but the atmosphere is good, the staff is welcoming and friendly and the cocktails are good but most importantly the prices are fair. Price per value, its 5 stars
Cheap drinks for the location. Great decor and atmosphere, good for either a date on the couch in the back, or a night out with friends. The food is simple but very good. After many years, still one of my favorite bars in NYC.Seems like its gotten quite popular in the years since I was a regular.
Very good quesadillas and a better host. Dina . Thank you for always treating us like family
Very cute spot in this neighborhood! The drinks are amazing and they also have amazing eggplant sandwich with pesto and mozzarela! It was really delicious! The only issue is the staff is pretty slow and it takes forever to get your order and prepare your food! Otherwise everything else is good!
LOVE THIS PLACE. Its been a favorite for years. Its open late and they serve food late. The menu is simple but its all really, really good - great sandwiches. I also love the inside of this place. The bartender are always very interesting people and good people to get to know. Oh - and they have Miller High Life. ;)
Our little neighborhood gem. Great staff and drinks
Cozy, unpretentious spot that is good for drinks with friends after work or on the weekend. It doesnt get too loud, the interior decor is nice, and its clean and well-lit (not bright, not dim). Bartenders are friendly and happy hour specials are pretty good (currently $5 well drinks and beers) and goes until 8pm! Great bar to visit, especially in this area of the city.
This is such a great find near the Seaport! I fell in love with my now boyfriend after many long evenings after work in the summer at this bar. They have very limited seating and its rustic decor and laid back atmosphere. The bartenders are very friendly, the small bites are great, and they have decent specials.Ive never been here for brunch, but I read that its one of the best small brunches in the city. Fresh Salt will always have a special place in my heart, definitely the best small bar in this tourist heavy area.
Been here a few times now and the service is always excellent! They have an insanely good happy hour (especially for the area) and always happy to accommodate for larger groups. Definitely my #1 pick for after work drinks.
One of my favorite bars in the financial district. Small, cozy, low-key, and a fantastic Happy Hour - $4 Draft beers among other deals. The food is also very good. I highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip served with pita.
Upscale end of a dive bar. The bartenders are great, the happy hour goes until 8, theres indoor and outdoor seating. No fuss.
Lovely atmosphere and staff, I discovered an amazing cocktail , ‘Chai sidecar’ !Thank you for the lovely cocktail and music 🎶
Excellent food, better drinks, nice quiet atmosphere with great music. Will definitely visit again! Turkey brie sandwich was off the chain!
Happy hours 4-8pm for $4 draft beers. I visited at around 6:30pm and downed 3 beers by 8. They serve good food too. We sat at the bar, just so we could order right away. Theres very little seating outside. Fresh Salt is not at the centre of South Street Seaport, so its a very quiet bar. I loved that its not packed, theres actually intimate conversation happening.Service is friendly.
Found this place on a Cocktail Passport tour and have come back several times. Great drinks, good food, and everything is priced reasonably. Its not very big, so can fill up fast, but definitely worth a pop in for a drink or a bite if youre in the area.
Lovely antipasto plate. Good prices. They have nice tables outside and a very laid back and cozy bar and dining area inside. A big plus was the low volume of the music inside - it was actually possible to sit and have a conversation. Well be back.
Small, homey place. Friendly bartenders! Good happy hour deals (for NYC) $5 draft $5 well liquor. The homemade Mac and cheese with sorpressa (basically bacon but thinner and crunchier) tastes like something my mom would make. WONDERFUL 10/10 would recommend
A small and cute bar by the seaport with reasonably priced cocktails, really hard to come by in NYC. I got there at 6 on a weekday and was able to snag a table in the corner for 4 people. Since the space is small, I would try to come before 7 if youre looking to have a seat somewhere.
Classy, artsy and affordable. The servings are a bit small for my taste but tasty. Especially good for brunch
This place is adorable and the food was SO good. Went for brunch and got the eggs any style (went with scrambeled) with thick cut bacon (soooooo good) and mixed greens. Everything was SO delicious. Even the iced coffee tasted amazing. Highly Recommend!
Very nice cosy little bar/restaurant. Worth a visit!
I’ve been going here for years and it’s such an adorable and welcoming atmosphere. Quiet cobblestone street in the seaport with a great happy hour and delicious menu. Sweet staff, great music, delicious cocktails.
Delicious healthy lunch options on the menu. We had a cup of delicious pea & ham soup served with fresh pitta bread, quiche & salad & a delicious kale salad with toasted almonds, cherry tomatoes, quinoa, grilled chicken & apple - yummy! And great value for money too.
Great bartender, descent prices,fun atmosphere
I really want to like this place - chill vibe, good drinks, and friendly bartenders. However Ive been here a few times over the past few months, only to be greeted by a family of rats who have decided to setup camp right outside of the bar. I know this is New York and sharing the streets with our four legged friends is part of life, but a tipping point was last night when we spotted a mouse inside the bar. Ive now seen rats outside of Fresh Salt on three out of four visits. Until they can get a handle on their rodent problem I wont be coming back.
The owner Sarah was drunk at the bar tonight and made me feel like s***. After a industry focused thought-provoking conversation, she kicked me out of her bar. I paid my tab and tipped appropriately 20%.
Very small and cozy, but nice selection of cocktails. The food is also good. Highly recommend the avocado dip. Only a couple of beers on tap but a nice bottle selection
Super low key vibe. Food is awesome! And Zach behind the bar is more then fantastic, he keeps a cool relaxed vibe but keeps it from getting boring and his drinks are on point
My favorite bar in all of Manhattan.
Cute little bar with some tasty cocktails. Had the Beekman and would recommend it.nice atmosphere for a date.
Can’t beat their happy hour!
Found this place because of the Tippler booklet. Came back recently. Fun bar
Small place but great! The sandwiches are very tasty and $18 with a beer is a great offer
Small bar, bacon smell is very prominent. But chill spot and Happy Hour goes till 8, which is nice.
Relaxed bar in the seaport district with beer on tap and overall great atmosphere
Awesome local seaport establishment. Open late. Great beer and wine selection. Outdoor cafe is great for dogs🐶
Great American Bistro with vegan options. Can get crowded so get there early. Small but has a friendly staff.
Great bar and soft atmosphere.I went there at 11 at night and was welcome in french.unforgettable place for me.
Looked like a really fun spot. Much smaller than it appears. Great outdoor patio. Gets very busy after work.
They have a great wine happy hour during the week, and it’s nice without being stuffy.
Wanna get food poisoning? This is your place I was here about a month ago with my friends and had a few bites from some thing here and I had to rush to the hospital to spend over $1000I got food poisoning and was in bed for almost a week will never be back here the worst place ever and rude waitress.
They got good cocktails and amazing vibes here.
This place was way too hot, we ate as fast as possible just to get outside. Side salad was just a little bit of spring greens.
Love the cheap priced drinks and artichoke dipFriendly staffCasual and be yourself atmosphere
Good place for a group and brunch. Always have great meals and service.
Awesome bar. Good food. Nice drinks. Ilana, the bartender is the best!
Excellent happy hour and pleasant comfy environment.
Great service, good food. Happy hour is pretty good as well.
Service is kind of slow, and the place is kind of small, but it was otherwise ok. Ill likely choose another place for happy hour.
Great sandwiches and super quick service. One of the best spots in the Seaport.
I went here with 3 girlfriends while we were out on a Sunday late afternoon/evening walk. We love being by the water and decided to stop somewhere and get drinks. However, we didn’t want to go to one of the giant “touristy” places right on the water— they tend to be super overpriced and overrated. So we decided on Fresh Salt. We had a little table outside for the 4 of us and loved it! Perfect for drinks on a Sunday early evening— we didn’t want to leave. They make great cocktails! We also got to witness the setup for a proposal and the proposal itself (very cute with everyone on the street cheering)!
Cool atmosphere, great drinks and food near the Seaport!
Menu is changed. Food quality decreased substantially unfortunately... Very friendly staff though.
Solid dive bar downtown, but nothing special. Really not much more to say. Good for the area I suppose.
I really enjoyed the sandwich I had here. Good food at a good price.
NIce bar, very mellow atmosphere. Normal drink selection and decent seating.
Nice place for a business lunch! Cozy, lovely service, good food
One of my favorite spots and the highlight is Dina the bartender she is the absolute BEST!!!!!!!!
Really great sandwich shop down in the financial. A must know if you frequent the area.
Great place! Delicious brunch! Awesome staff!
Nice and small but not crowded and not loud. This place is a gem.
Great small and quiet bar at the Seaport. You could do a lot worse
Awesome bartenders and a real sea bearing port feel to the place
If you are looking for a great seafood place, go here. love the tilapia and salmon
One of the best happy hours in lower Manhattan. Cant wrong with the food either. Only issue is its packed after work due to the great deals but also the bar is fairly small and people sit on stools there making it somewhat awkward to get drinks sometimes
Delicious brunch. I got the huevos ramcheros and highly recommend!
Get the meatloaf sandwhich. Not bad drink prices during brunch either.
Ok good. Terrible service. You feel like youre causing the waitresses a disservice by walking in.
Great food, love the location!
An amazing “friendsgiving” experience! Top notch food and impeccable service! Keep up the great work!!
I liked the sandwiches and chips. I recommend the s.a.l.t. sandwhich.
Great bar in seaport! Staff are friendly and there’s a lot of tables outdoors. Their happy hour is long and generous :)
Nostalgic writing this review but I used to live in the area and loved coming here for weeknight happy hours. They have the best deals, great staff and cozy ambience. Truly a Seaport staple and I miss it so much!
Snuck in here for lunch! Chili mac & cheese was perfect for the cold day!
Great little locals bar. I didnt catch the bartenders name but she was freaking awesome! I was there on Sunday, 8/7.
A friendly watering hole with a very friendly happy hour
Great place! Dina is so sweet and patient.
Great local bar. Had a lot of fun hanging out. Awesome staff.
Great bar in a quiet street in a trendy neighborhood, very nice lady behind the bar and pleasant local visitors at the other side.
Food was very good. A cute place.
Just go. Best happy hour in the area till 8. Food is amazing. The artichoke dip will blow your mind. Oh, and the bartenders have the best taste in music. Small, but intimate.
Really good spot. Great little spot, has good artichoke dip tomato soup and great drinks. Lilac drink was a great choice. Not so much social distancing in outdoor seating so be mindful of that.
Space was tight during happy hour. We werent able to grab a table and standing near the bar was difficult with staff going back and forth. Cocktails were great, though. Happy hour deals are good but only for well drinks and (limited) beer selection. Recommended for lunch when its less crowded.
I have a mixed perspective on Fresh Salt. Pros: The happy hour deals are really good (4-8PM), the location in seaport is nice, and the drinks are good. Cons: Our service was rather slow and inattentive. Also, I unknowingly ordered something that didnt count under the happy hour prices, but the wait staff did not inform me that I would be charged basically 3x the happy hour price for the drink. It was unexpected and a bit disappointing!
Christmas time got my friend & I to the South Street Seaport for a tree lighting, jazz & dancing outside. Wanting a drink & a bite afterwards, we walked the cobblestones to Fresh Salt. It was packed with a lit up cool young crowd. We ordered drinks & quesadillas which were really good! Im a former long time server so I have expectations which are seldom met these days. Ill never get used to snippy millennials wanting big tips.
This was one of my favorite bars when I lived in downtown Manhattan... Super cozy and they have incredible drinks! Also they serve a small food menu which is awesome if youre feeling the munchies while youre having some cocktails.
Nice happy hour (7 days a week). Cocktails are well thought out and tasty. Shot of nuts is a nice snack. Meatloaf sandwich is meh, bread is awesome, meatloaf is under seasoned and over done. Side salad was fresh with a nice ratio of dressing. Helpful bartender. Cool space.
Great place. Awesome on a Wednesdays. The drinks are great and the bartenders are friendly. Keep up the good work guys.
A lovely neighborhood bar with awesome staff and a wonderful happy hour to boot. This place is certainly a cut above the rest of the other places in the area. Step in for a quick pint or linger around for a cozy brunch, Fresh Salt has you covered.
Great staff and excellent service.
Great happy hour! Bartender was great!
Cool place to chill happy hour great, prices are great. Food on point and tasty. No table service it works for me quick and easy.
Casual low key place. Great Happy Hour! Artichoke Dip was delicious. On the smaller side and no table service but can I beat the prices.
This place is wonderful! I loved the atmosphere and they have a great happy hour. Try to get here earlier because it gets crowded after 6ish! Definitely worth it though 👌
Nice servers and good vibe. Food and drinks were perfection. Definitely recommend
Small and cozy space with some good cocktails.
Decent drinks and starters, cute vibe
Great find and the bartender Sebastián was excellent!
Love Fresh Salt. Low-key, friendly, comfortable, clean, small but satisfying menu, delicious drinks. Great dog watching, too!
Good beer and nice atmosphere
Cute little spot near the South Street Seaport, which is currently being redone (the port, that is). Food was great. Staff was really sweet. Not too bad a wait for Brunch on Sunday.
Beautiful experience! Would not have change a thing!
Great service, well made drinks, cosy atmosphere. The lager on draft is really good
I live in the neighborhood and this is one of my favorite local bars.
Really nice Cuban sandwich that came with salt and vinegar chips. The outdoor dining expense was great on this street, very little traffic!
Nice neighborhoody bar, which the area is lacking
A true gem in the area and in NYC in general. Its an intimate spot so bring good friends and have a few rounds. The sandwiches are great too and they are open late.
I really enjoy Fresh Salt and can say they are easily one of favorites in this part of Manhattan. I especially recommend grabbing a drink at happy hour hen exploring the neighborhood for a bit.
A regular place of mine. Its a small rustic place to have good conversations over beer. Food is not bad either. If they have chili that day, get it. Happy hour is 4-6.
Somehow this place was rated pretty well on another site. However, it was not good. It took awhile to place our order and once we did, it took a very very long time to get our food. It was on the order of 45 minutes before we finally got our food. There were four of us for lunch on a Friday and there was only one other table. The food we got was very simple, including basic sandwiches and a melted cheese pita. All of us agreed the food was below average. Some of it tasted like it was sitting out since the day before and warmed up under a lamp instead of freshly made. The food was dried out and smothered in things to hide the taste which only made it worse. On top of that, it was kind of pricey for what we got. I dont recommend it at all.
Good olives in the martinis
I love this bar... I love the salt sandwich... I love the vibe. Locals, staff is friendly. Really cant go wrong!
The only calm in the storm that is the seaport. Good food, good drinks. Amazing bartenders.
Great local bar to get a drink or 20. Was very late when I found this place. They took good care of me. Thanks!
Sandwiches and cocktails.A limited menu. But perfect for a light lunch and brews.Would reccomend for brunch for lunch. The salt speck sandwich was great. The pork avocado was nice too.Watermelon margarita must try
Quite simply, yum! Mac n Cheese with soppressata is wonderfully comforting. Not the typical pub goop.Great little place. Lots of character. Great bartenders.
Great little place for brunch.
Great happy hour until 8pm. Location is convenient
Discovered this place by accident. Cute little side bar in South Street Seaport. Good drink specials. Would go again if in the area.
Such a great place for an after-work happy hour. The drinks are cheap (beers are $4, specialty drinks maybe $6). The bartender is really nice and you can tell its just the kind of place locals come year round.
Great happy hour. Fun crowd. Relaxed place with mix of after work and FiDi locals.
Chilli was great. Everything else was just good.
Always a nice stop for some after work drinks!
The SALT sandwich and meatloaf sandwich here are worth your time. Nice cocktails as well.
Place is pretty decent. Few beers on tap, friendly bartenders, decent food, outside seating
Who knew there were nice places like this in the FiDi?
Outstanding. Ask for Sammie!! And get the artichoke dip NOW!
Really friendly bartender. Good eats and fine cocktails...Sweet..
Small bar with good drinks and food. Nice place to hang out with a friend or two or ten.
Super friendly staff, good food & awesome beer selection
Cozy place, good happy hour, good for groups if you book in advance, friendly staff.
My go to for casual lunch in South Street 👍
Very good place for quick lunch. Quiche of the day is great
Good space and they got High Life so not really much criticism here.
Love the vibe here! Randomly popped in. Nicks very entertaining! Will def be back soon!
SALT and meatball sandwiches were delicious. Plus, as a bonus they serve Stash tea.
Simple menu of sandwiches with some salads and soups but the food and the service was quite good.
Great atmosphere, good beer
The bar tender was very rude , I left my backpack and they stood my AirPods
Cool little hideaway for drinks and a bite in the coolest seaport area
Cute spot..just stay inside. We sat outside it was late night and all the rats were running a around.
Nice old school bar. Good drinks, good people.
Great Happy Hour specials and the ambiance is cozy on a cold evening!
Love the vibe of this place - sit at the bar, chat and drink some excellent $4 beers. Decor is authentic seaport, food is great. Had the Mac n cheese with sopressata and hotsauce - amazing! just what was needed to gear me up to go back into the slushy cold city...
Nice chill atmosphere at the seaport. Great happy hour daily.
Cozy spot with a solid happy hour and surprisingly tasty bites. Try the mac & cheese!
Open very late. Locals spot. Sandwich menu is just ok, but brunch is good.
Cozy, small, good cocktails and laid back vibe.
Fun place
Avocado toast is splendid in this quaint place.
Cheap happy hour drinks, great food, great music, great service. What more could you want
Good food and nice atmosphere, but tight space and you may have to sit on a stool
Great staff, tasty sammiches, great happy hour prices for NYC.
Small local bar. Service is good and the staff is full of characters. Go for the drinks and atmosphere -- besides basic bar food you are better off eating elsewhere.
Cool little spot. Good happy hour specials.
Cheeky bar, great for a cheeky drink. Tucked away in fi di, this place is not like your typical finance bar. Normal people, decent prices, and the am-Beyoncé makes you feel like youre in any other neighborhood other than Finically district.
Great happy hour. Amazing food
Great for happy hour and weekends
Very nice bartenders, a small quaint place with a good vibe
Nice little Bar with a good grub menu.
Great neighborhood place and fair pricesn
Drinks are great, food is pretty good
Great local spot for a laid back crowd.
On thrillist for best happy hour. 4-8 win $4 beer and well drinks
Great lil hidden gem in a busy, often over tursty area (side block of southstreet sea port)!!Well drinks only 4$ !!!!!!!!!!! Theres no way any place can beat that on a SATURDAY NIGHT( 4$ all day everyday )( of course that depends what u ask for but i drank rum with pineapple & cranberry juice perfect size and delicious)great place for catching up with friends, also great for pre-drinking before hitting the beer garden just steps away !! or easy night out , even a nothing big date nighty bcoz the bar has restaurant-like feeling at table section, where theres kind of dark wood romantic ambiance.2 person staff, both great ! good menuMust try on the menu SPINACH&CHEESE QUICHE !!!!!!!! best QUICHE I EVER HAD ( after discovering how good it was we ordered 8 ) !!!next door theres a strange but intriguing tiny cigar club place( didnt go in, but there were 8 ppl smoking cigars to an open wall to the street type of setting)went here on a sat in a group of 6 , and it was a great experience for everyone !overall this bar had best of everything , food , drinks , regular bar setting ( at the bar) and lil lounge/restaurant look on the other side !!it def going onto favorite places in nyc list!!!!!!!
Small quite dark bar does decent beer and really nice sandwiches. Ask the staff for the Wi-Fi password.
Good pepper Turkey sandwich.
Great happy hour spot!
Tiny, expensive portions. Vegan options and great service.
Great little place in the Seaport area
Great place to relax and grab a drink
