This is one of Manhattans most affordable yet enjoyable bars. The drink prices are fantastic, making it a great value. Boxing enthusiasts will love the collection of photos showcasing legendary fighters. It tends to get packed on weekends, so arriving early—around 8 p.m.—is recommended if you want a table. The staff is welcoming and pleasant, and the bar is conveniently located within walking distance of Times Square.
This is the ABSOLUTE best dive bar near Times Square. The place stays slammed because the prices are amazing. Where else can you get a beer for $3-4 in Midtown?I was surprised to meet so many locals considering the location. The bartenders were also very nice despite how busy they were.
If you are looking for a cool dive bar in Times Square, check out Jimmys Corner. It is a small bar with lots of boxing memorabilia. My son and I had two drinks, and it was very inexpensive.
My kind of dive!!! First time finding this glory hole and its nice to find a dive that reminds you of home. Hell yeah to this place! Awesome bartenders to boot.
Great dive bar located just off Times Square. Drinks were great, service was great, atmosphere was great! Cheap drinks; $7.50 for a larger & vodka cran!
Favorite spot for an authentic dive bar still alive in NYC (Manhattan)!! Not just the vibe but the history of the place and the people here. Amazing spot for legit old school Newyorkers. Don’t be surprised if you run into jazz musicians and Broadway performers after their shows.
Great Bar it was down the street from the hotel I was staying at so I wanted to check it out and was happily surprised with the old school boxing theme. It was my first time there, so just so you know whatever you do do not ring the boxing bell on the wall in the corner seat by the entrance It is sacred to them I was told its from Madison square garden. Since It was my first time there I got a pass, next time im in NYC I wont even look at it, lol. Great place And I think the gentleman who was bartending let the bell incident slide is the original owners grandson. I definitely recommend.
One of the cheapest bar in Manhattan, but its good too. Drinks are nice according to the price. If you are a boxing fan then you have to visit this place. A lot of pictures of boxing legends. Its pretty crowded on weekends so if you want a table then you need to get here early. Around 8 for a table i guess. Staff is friendly and nice. Walking distance from times square.
4$ the corona (and other) is cheap price compared to other bars. Small bar and not much space but once inside its a no brainer! To try for broken people like me who visit time square
One of the last gin mills in New York City. Come for the cheap drinks, stay for the atmosphere and jukebox. I’ve been coming here since 2006 when Jimmy and Swannie ran the place and now It’s run just as competently and well by their family. Honestly don’t come. This bar is for me and I want success for them but more importantly I want a stool near the jukebox.
If you want to experience NY, this is it & cheap beer! Highly recommended
A must-see for boxing fans visiting New York. This historic venue, founded by the famous African-American boxer and trainer Jimmy Glenn, is a genuine tavern where you rarely meet tourists. Here you can feel history and passion in every corner.
Hard to beat this classic anywhere in NYC. Old school NYC vibe , been here for over 50 years . Always a smiling face behind the bar . Can’t beat a 3.50 cent vodka crab , or two cosmos and two beers for 17.00. Hope this place doesn’t go anywhere as it’s charm is boxing themed and one of a kind .
The definition of a dive bar.. places like this are a dying breed so absolutely drop by for a Yuengling at this Times Square classic.Originally owned by a famous amateur boxer/ well known trainer across the industry. Use to spar with Ali, I believe his son is running it now and hasn’t changed a thing.. the history on the walls says it all!
Excellent ambiance! Great prices and TOP staff! I had an incredible time with friends, can’t wait to go back!
Found this online with Google Maps, visited recently during our trip to NYC. What a gem in the middle of the Times Square area.Mike the bartender was great. Cold beers at great prices. It is a hangout for locals that know what a local bar should be.Shoot out to people we met - Jimmy (courier) and from Ireland Emma & Joe
A great lil bar right near Times Square, with some fun staff and interesting regulars to talk to! Was actually the best part to my 16 hour New York trip, made me feel like I was at my home bar in Dallas, TX! Cant wait to come back to NY and sit at the bar here again!
Small, cozy and cheap bar in the heart of Manhattan. I drunk there IPA for 4.5 dollars and I was really happy with taste - but of course for me. If you like boxing and history YOU MUST GO THERE. Plenty of old photos on the walls and old posters. Location its another plus.
3 drinks for under ten bucks just off Times Square? Its the ultimate NYC dive bar.Small, friendly (once you coo onto yourself) and surprisingly filled with regulars, its a rough lump of coal in a sea of polished diamonds and I love that about it.Dont bring a backpack, its a tight squeeze getting in and out as it is.
I cant rate the food as we didnt eat here, but I was searching for good cocktails and this place showed up. At 1st glance my mom was like hell no Im not going in there, but I was like sometimes the whole in the walls are the best places so I walked in making her follow and happy I did. Service was amazing, drinks were so cheap. 4.50/drink for time square!! Unreal!! Patrons were friendly and it was good vibes. I would definitely come back
Best bar in NY! Good beer for a decent price!
This was one of our favorite nights in new york, the staff are amazing and popping in for one beer ended up with us staying for like 4 hours and laughing the whole time. Also after several martinis, whiskey sours, beers and more the bill was only 68 bucks
Nice place near timesquare NYC. It was bit crowded but we had fun time here. Cheers to this place! Would recommend going there.
Cool bar near Times Square. Cheap beer and tasty drinks. I got drunk after 2 margaritas :D
Possibly The last everymans bar in NYC. Part Bukowski part the bar from Star wars 100% melting pot.Great people, cheap drinks, rich history.Def going again
5/5 … America’s greatest dive bar and a slice of old New York… Nice drinks 🍹, cheap, nice ambiance bravo 🙌!
Without question our go to bar whenever were in the Big Apple. Beer is cold, drinks are strong and prices are cheap. Bartenders are friendly. Jukebox has a great selection of music. And theyre open to the wee hours of the morning. This place can’t be beat.
One of the best little Bars in midtown.A classic NYC establishment with amazing history. Check it out & Cheers 🍻
I still think about my Jimmys experience when I was last in New York. This place is one of the safest, kindest and entertaining spaces Ive ever been to. Shout-out to all the amazing bar staff and all the amazing people we met there! Only time Ive ever been at a bar and stayed for 5hrs+. Also cant beat the cheap prices! So much heart and soul in this place and I cant recommend it enough.
Few drinks in here when in NY. Proper old school pub, no frills. I will be back. RIP Ken Buchanan 🏴
Quality bar right beside time square. Small and what feels local. Good crowd there and the price was very reasonable. Staff were great and the choices were varied. It should be on your list if in New York.
The best bar in New York. I was only in the city for a few days but came back two days in a row as they were so welcoming, the prices are fair and atmosphere is brilliant! Must visit
This bar is the real deal! Great beers, friendly atmosphere, real people, great value. An absolute oasis for anyone fed up of over priced over fancy bars.
Jimmys Corner is...by far, the best bar in Manhattan by a country mile. Authentic, old school experience of New York. Me and my wife went here on our 10th wedding anniversary when on holiday from Scotland. The locals and bar staff were so welcoming, we stayed for hours, and if we werent going home the next day wouldve been back every day of our holiday. Thanks for the hospitality...and the memories. Definitely a must if you go to Manhattan.🥊
Jimmys Corner is a hidden gem in midtown. The decor is vintage boxing with signed photos/posters spanning decades - so awesome. Prices are ridiculously reasonable and the bathroom is classic NYC dive bar.
If you’re looking for an authentic NYC bar, this is place. Narrow, dark, dingy - but full of charm and character. Love it!
This bar was on our must-visit list during our stay in NY. We passed by several times, but it was always packed! Finally, we decided to try our luck one afternoon and managed to squeeze in—it’s tiny but absolutely fantastic! The authentic bar, filled with boxing memorabilia, was exactly what we had hoped for. The bartender was incredibly friendly, and we were shocked (in the best way) when our two large beers cost only $7! It’s an absolute must-visit—if you can find a spot!
Found a true jewel Jimmy was Ali’s comer man and this place is a classic dive bar with a wall full of classic photos I can spend all day and night admiring the history. The bar tenders and laid back cool and cute. The vibes is relaxed with a juke box playing the tunes that make you miss ya momma and granny. I was at a marvelous roof top a block away but the line for a drink was too much of a wait I bought a round for @ Jimmys for 5 for the price of 1 drink at the roof top. I’ll never come to times SQ again and not come by. If you looking for fancy and not comfy in a soulful, culturally rich space this isn’t for you but if Your a fan of boxing history, home grown vibe and love this is your place.
Famous bar, old school atmosphere! Incredible History when it comes to boxing
Cheapest drinks you will ever find. But it’s extremely packed on Friday and Saturday nights to the point where you will not find a seat and cannot walk around.
Fantastic place - inexplicably cheap beers just off Times Square (literally turn the corner and you can get two pints for $7). Great service and lots of cool memorabilia including autographs and a bell from Madison Square Garden!
You really have to have the appropriate expectations when you come here. We were looking for cheap drinks before a show and really this is exactly what this place delivered. We ended up getting four drinks that came to a total of $22, which was truly astounding to me when I saw the bill. The drinks are really no frills: well drinks, simple drinks, beers on tap. The bartender is super friendly and you can make the seating what you want. The decor really commits to the theme of boxing with boxing paraphernalia adorning every inch of the place. Its small and super unassuming and I was really surprised to find it in such a high-traffic Broadway area.
We sat at the bar... Our server spoke lil broken English but he was awesomeWe had a great time
Really good bar, Mike the owner is down to earth. $3 pints in time square. You can’t get better than that. Will return.
Quite simply my favourite bar in New York, a must for boxing fans and one of the best value bars in midtown
This review is not just about Jimmys bc everyone whos been there knows how special this place is.. I want to address what Diana O. has said below as this is a defamatory false narrative that was absolutely not the case of what happened- we absolutely support women, in fact going out of our way to ensure safety when needed, just as I did last night with this patron, leaving the bar where I was working to come outside and see if she was a tourist that needed help getting a car, or a New Yorker who was perfectly capable of getting themselves home in an Uber (it was the latter). I also ensured safety from the jump by not serving someone who came into the bar clearly over served from another establishment. If someone is too intoxicated, has fallen to the ground & then into various patrons, it becomes dangerous and is fully within our right to deny service or re-entry into the bar. The GF in question also came outside after I did & then chose to come back in, knowing her friend could not come back as well.. We did everything we could (and more than most would) to try to support this person while keeping the rest of our patrons safe too. So please, fellow friends & Google review readers- do not believe that Jimmys Corner does not support women bc we absolutely do & will have your back even when you dont think you need it ✌️
Great place.Mike is a great bartender. Fantastic jukebox.
Jimmys Corner, known for its classic New York City charm, offers a unique dive-bar experience. The walls adorned with boxing memorabilia create an authentic atmosphere, celebrating the owners passion for the sport. The friendly staff contributes to the welcoming vibe, making it a favorite among locals. While the space may be tight, it adds to the cozy ambiance. Jimmys Corner is a must-visit for those seeking a nostalgic feel and a taste of old-school New York.
Black owned bar near Times Square! Its tiny but mighty. The drinks are inexpensive for Manhattan’s standards, well worth being packed in tightly. If you are one of those people that don’t like people scooting past you, this isn’t the place for you! They make the best tequila sunrises 🫶🏾
Jimmys is a DIVE with the nicest staff and patrons. Fabulous pints for only $3! Dont let the prices fool you. Jimmys clearly cares for their beer system and serves a clean crisp pint. Jimmys is a nice change in this city full flat greasy overpriced beers served by corporate pubs that never clean their beer lines. Despite the dust on the décor, Jimmys has an A rating - all the surfaces and glasses are very clean.
The bar gets five stars for authenticity. The drinks are poured deep and cheap. I recommend it be a stop in Times Square in New York.
Great little bar with fantastic atmosphere, friendly bar staff and customers. A great escape from the bustle of the streets and great value too!
Who doesn’t love a great dive bar? Drinks are super cheap even though you are right in the heart of NYC. Stop by before or after a show for a cocktail and save yourself a bundle.
Best bar in nyc. Bartenders make u feel easy . Vibe is very warm and friendly
Jimmys Corner on West 44th Street in New York, NY, is a true gem that I stumbled upon after a memorable concert at Madison Square Garden. It turned out to be an unexpected highlight of the night. The moment I walked in, I was transported to a classic New York dive bar, complete with walls adorned with boxing memorabilia and the warm hum of chatter from locals and visitors alike. The ambiance exudes authenticity, a welcome contrast to the flashy lights of Times Square nearby. What sets Jimmys Corner apart, besides its nostalgic charm, is the remarkable selection of drinks at affordable prices. The bartenders here are seasoned pros, mixing up cocktails with precision and serving a variety of beers that cater to all tastes. The place has an unpretentious vibe that instantly puts you at ease. Its a spot where you can strike up a conversation with strangers or simply enjoy your drink in peace.Jimmys Corner is a testament to the enduring spirit of old New York, and its the kind of place that becomes a cherished memory. Whether youre winding down after a show at MSG or simply looking for an authentic New York experience, this hidden gem is a must-visit. Its a reminder that in a city of constant change, some places remain timeless.
Cheap cheap cheap!!! I love drinking good and tipping better! Let’s talk about it!It’s not that the city doesn’t sleep, it’s the you. N I know where you can find the best espresso martini in town.If you’re looking for some rest and reprieve in the middle of Times Square you have to come and see Mike at Jimmy’s Corner. There’s an ambiance of old school boxing and new school cocktails that’s feeds anybody. Ask your bartender questions about jimmy, the manager owner. That man is tendered on his craft and space. Mixed crowd. It’s the professionalism of your bartender(mike, every night all the time. Work baby!!! bring it home to me! Lol!) he’s seriously really handsome so back off…..In addition to that— it’s the way that he makes sure that he can curate the cocktail that you might like even if you don’t think he has what you need. Read that again.I had a couple of espresso martinis. A splash of some rum. Idk. My heart full n the drinks were cheaper than that horrid Applebee’s.. stop for a hotdog and then go to Jimmy’s. Eff it. Indulge the spirits you can’t feed your gullet. Read that again. My heart is full. I think I’m in love but I could just have an excellent buzz at a great rate. Who drives in New York City? Go up mike!I will definitely be back and I will definitely refer this place—specifically Mike—to anybody that I know. When you feel like everybody can do a job you lose the sense of professionalism in it. Napkin under ur cocktail. Preferences on vodka. If you want a professional bartender you come to see Mike.Ask about the whiskey sour—the Jameson is super cheap.Mike… we’re a couple now I’ll see you at the house. Take the transit to Atlanta Georgia and meet me in the city. I got love for you babe.
Best spot for a drink in New York on a budget.
Best place for cheap drinks with the boys and hanging out
Im afraid to say how much fun this place is cause its crowded enough as it is. Every slice of life that walks through those historic doors has a blast with the fabulous staff. Much like the man who the bars founder used to work with, Jimmys Corner is The Greatest. P.S. Their jukebox cant be beat.
We went to this particular bar as we check off the NYC “Bars, Taverns and Dives” described in a great book we received as a gift. Jimmy’s Corner was accurately described as a dive bar. It does live up to what you might think of as a dive and then some!! No food is served and if you are lucky and get a seat at the bar you will be served quickly and an expense not found in 2024 anywhere else. Just to be clear we ordered two craft beer pints and got change back. Hard to explain the atmosphere you will need to go and experience this old New York scene’
Everything I wanted a bar like that to be. Boxing memorabilia, friendly bartender, cheap beer, and a great jukebox. Its very odd that somewhere like this can exist just off the commercial saturated tourist trap Times Square, but thank the lord it does.
This comes up on google as a top spot for a sports bar but they no longer put the boxing on - say that “that was a former owner long gone “. There was great sport memorabilia but the place is small, a bit whiffy and just looks like tourists having one drink and going. Cocktails were cheap though but didn’t look like the usual cocktails. Recommend instead Trionas 3rd Ave and 17th for a sports bar with screens and good vibe. BTW no sports bars I went to did ppv games so not worth schlepping the city to find.
An absolute must do if in Times Square!!! Incredible service and just hard to put into words the experience!
Cant beat the unique atmosphere this pub offers. Just love this place. My favorite pub in NYC.I reviewed this place 6 years ago and have been coming here since and still the same place as of March 2023
From the outside it doesn’t look as a place you want to go to. However the atmosphere inside is so great. It’s filled with locals and considering the price of beer at that it’s on time square. No words needed. When you’re close have a beer in this place.
Amazing authentic little bar away from the hustle of times square. Great prices and staff. Super grungy, I love the feel of this place
Warm (love steam heat) historic half working christmas lights everything about this place is perfect as dive bars go, my favorite of drinking spaces. so thankful my wife found this place.
It is a small dive bar, so it can get crowded very easy. The prices are very friendly to your wallet (even it is located in Manhattan).
4 bucks for a Sam Adams? In Manhattan, New York City LET ALONE, Times Square? Vibe was great. Building is improbably stories. Boxing themed if that’s your thing. This place seems impossible and something out of 1982.
An absolute hidden gem in Manhattan! Cheaper drinks than my hometown and it’s in Manhattan! 10/10 drinks, pricing, and service. Will 100% be back.
Great corner bar! The owner was part of Muhammad Alis corner in the boxing ring, so a lot of memorabilia. Gets very crowded- dont expect fancy drinks or top self alcohol.
Best bar in manhattan
Was on our list to visit during our stay in NY. Passed by on several occasions but it was rammed! Realised our only chance was to try popping along one afternoon. Managed to squeeze in - its tiny - but fabulous! Authentic bar, just as wed hoped packed full of boxing memorabilia. Bartender was very friendly and we nearly fell off our stools when, after ordering two large beers, it only came to $7!! Fabulous! A must to visit...if you can get in!
Great prices but staff was not the best if you’re not a regular. The bartender was too lazy to make me a second Long Island(it was my bday too lol). Also was double charged with my card so use cash and you’ll enjoy.
A hole in the wall with customers from around the world! Coors Light is cheap and cost less than $200 for a round for the whole bar!
Jimmys Corner is a true gem just off of Times Square and I hope its character never changes! We were in the City for a day during December 2023 and as we were walking around we stumbled upon the bar and my fiancée said how her dad used to frequent the bar in his younger days so we said why dont we take a load off and have a drink! The Staff:Sadly Jimmy Glenn passed away in 2020 but he has certainly left a lasting legacy here. The bar staff are very friendly, attentive and competent, Jimmy trained them well.Layout:It is a long narrow New York City bar with plenty of seating along the bar. At the back of the bar it widens a little and there are a few tables at either side here.Decor:The bar is decorated with memorabilia from Jimmys time here along with his past involvement with boxing. The bar area is covered with pictures of people having a good time here along with Jimmy himself and as you make your way through the bar you with see the boxing influence with vintage posters from boxing history.Jimmy had a love for boxing and you can also see him pictured with greats such as Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson! There are a number of tvs but thankfully the bar is not over powered by them. I feel that this is the sort of bar where people come for conversation rather than to watch tv!Overall Opinion:Jimmys Corner is a classic old school New Yord City bar. You get the sense that time moves a little slower here while the busy city keeps on moving on outside! Its the perfect bar for a daytime beer and the prices are so cheap, the time we hit it the beers were $3 or $4 something each! Ive never had a beer in the city that cheap.I highly recommend stopping by Jimmys Corner for a drink and have a good chat with friends and visitors alike no doubt I will be frequenting this bar any chance I get when Im in the city! And as my future father in-law says Its a city bar for the working guy!
Top dive bar in Manhattan! Not to be pretentious here but on Google Im top 1% of dive bar reviewers in the United States and this place absolutely rocked my boat! Prices are like what you would expect to pay in Arkansas lol. This bar has an amazing jukebox! Pretty much anything anyone plays is gold. Great prices, selection, service and vibe. There is so much history on the walls with all the photos and signed boxing memorabilia. If you are a boxing fan this is a must to visit! Its amazing. Hands down this place is a relic and is an amazing experience.
My favorite place in Manhattan. This is haven on earth. 4$ beers the whole time.
I work in boxing and Ive bartended in dive bars. Jimmys is great. No frills good time.
An awesome centrally located bar in times square with a long rich history. This place was a perfect no frills watering hole, with jaw dropping cheap drinks.Meeting Jimmy himself though was the highlight!
Yeah the drinks are cheap but the place is a dump. It’s about the same square footage of a cell at Rikers Island. Actually, the Rikers Island cell might be bigger. The space between the bar and the wall is probably 3 feet. If a fire ever broke out there everyone would be dead. So many better “dive” bars in NYC
Love this bar. My kinda place. Glad I found it when I visited NYC a few years back
The last great dive bar in Times Square. One of the best jukeboxes in NYC -- filled with classic soul, jazz, and crooners. Jimmy Glenn is a legend.
Cheapest bar we’ve found in NYC plus great service
It is a dive bar, no other description. We got there about 5:15 and could barely squeeze inside. A truly eclectic and friendly cast of characters was present. We sent a $5 bill along the wall through multiple hands to feed the jukebox in back, it worked. 2 titos and sodas were $10. The woman to my left, in the German Navy, was throwing down shots while we chatted, and after firing them down the hatch, finished by licking each one of her fingers (all 9 of them). Simultaneously, my beautiful date ( who likes me!), standing to my right, was getting hit on by a lesbian construction worker half her size, who kept asking how do I get with you. Within 10 minutes we were pulling on each others coats- the universal sign that we need to get out of here. Cant wait to go back!!
Fun, lively dive bar. Very cheap drinks!
Cheap and very friendly place. Locals go here so if you like pubs i totally recommend it.
The best ever. We meet Jimmy before COVID. I have amazing memories in this bar. Music, ambiente, people .... Total LOVE 💕 for ever ! I miss you NYC
Very small butGreat service. Great drinks.
This is so many times we have been to NYC best bar ever
Absolutely packed at 1AM! Nice place for a night cap, beers alway a good price! Jimmy was there and the place is just about one block from Times Square!
If you want to find beer in NYC at below 6 bucks a pint - this is literally the place. Really nice lady who worked behind the bar, no-nonsense type of place. Highly recommend.
This place does not support women, I was in with my girls but.forgot my phone, when I went to get back...I was allowed to get the phone but not allowed to get back in.even though sí wanted to leave the boy.....I was left on the street alone...by the male security guy even though I had 2 gf inside
A cool bar with its walls lined with boxing memorabilia. The staff was friendly and the drinks were good
Great hangout spot with great beer prices. We learned the history of the bar from the locals and Jimmy sounded like an awesome guy. I highly recommend stopping in and having a drink.
Mike at Jimmy’s Corner is the best. Handles the bar amazingly 😊
The best bar in Midtown. Friendly staff and the best prices. Old school vibe.
Nice place and mitical place to have some drinks with friends in this part of the big apple, my favorite
Yo we took this picture probably about 30X but this was our favorite but anyway we are Shelby and Ryan from Florida and we met the most amazing bartenders especially Martina she was so helpful because I sell soap all over the USA and we travel and we absolutely loved the margaritas the owner Kareem or however he spells his name He’s the most genuine, kind soul I’ve met in New York City. I will be coming back here over and over again as much as I can, even if I end up sober one day1000000 stars ⭐️
Love this place, its amazing a bar like this can exist so close to Time Square.
Cool place. Sadly had no drinkable white wine. Friendly fellow drinkers.
$4 pints all day, boxing themed but knowledge optional (though if you are a fan the bartenders all know their pugilists, always good chat), busy without being crowded, friendly, diverse with locals and tourists alike - if they didn’t close I’d never leave. A must.
A very cozy and affordable bar!
Arguably one of the best bars in the city. You get to see a good mix of people - ages, occupations, sexuality, and race. Come for the beers and stay for the atmosphere.
Little pearl in busy and overpriced New York. Amazing vibe, great pub. Love it!!!
Old school pub, with great prices and excellent service. The vibe is just the best in nyc, if you like beer you must visit this bar!
Enjoyed our visit to Jimmys - drinks were reasonably priced, staff was welcoming, music sounded good, customers were fun. Except, they would not change one of the TVs to watch the hockey playoff game. It was clear that basketball ruled (as I expected) but we chose the bar after our search for a midtown sports bar to watch the first period of Leafs v Panthers. Knicks playoff game tipped off at 7:40pm, hockey started at 7:00pm. No dice for NHL, despite asking calmly and politely. We were leaving at 7:40pm as my out-of-town friend was heading to the theater on 43rd. Be forewarned that if you want to watch a hockey game, this is not your spot. Not the end of the world as Jimmys is a fun, cool NYC throwback, but hockey fans should look elsewhere.
I simply love this place! It has such a cool vibe to it. It’s a first cheap bar I found the in New York and on multiple occasions we had such a good time there. We usually go for a couple of draft Bud Lights, usually not my favorite beer but the atmosphere and cheap beer make it up. It’s really close to Times sq. You can meet a lot of interesting people, travelers and New Yorkers respectively.
This place is absolutely awesome.. no cocktails no frills great service and the place has an electric atmosphere...
What a great, regular guy place to get a beer in Times Square. Boxing themed and narrow this place has a very friendly staff, terrific mix of patrons and exceptionally reasonable drink prices. Oh, and the jukebox is trapped in the greatest eras of music pretty much stopping in the mid-80s which is just the way I like it. It was the last bar a buddy and I hit on a night out and we were sorry we didnt find it sooner.
Cheap drinks, good vibe and very close to Times Square!! It’s filled with a lot of Jimmy’s photos.
This is my favorite bar in nyc. Bartender is a super nice guy too
An exclusive 5 star bar lounge with all top shelf options. Be prepared to pay about $30 per drink, but the quality of ingredients topped with knowledgeable barristers makes it a valuable experience.
Jimmys Corner bar is on W. 44th Street, New York City, less than a block from Times Square. It is a dive bar in every sense of the word and probably sells the cheapest beer in the whole of NYC. This small place is usually packed with a cross-selection of Manhattan life. It has a wonderful atmosphere that is enhanced by all the boxing photos and posters adorning its walls. If you like dive bars, I can thoroughly recommend Jimmys.
Fun, good service, great bartender, excellent prices, good atmosphere
I met up with an old friend at Jimmys corner and was extremely excited at the prices of the drinks. I waited for him with my first drink in hand and and once he got there we ordered several more. Losing count of our drinks we ask for the bill and when it was only $17 we quickly got a few more rounds! It is the perfect little spot to catch up with a friend or to go on a date. We left feeling extremely wonderful walking through Times Square thanking Jimmy for all of the good drinks and the good times. Not to mention the decor gave a warm and welcoming atmosphere with boxing memorabilia all around you. Would definitely recommend especially for how cheap the drinks were! Cuz you know I like them strong! Dew approve!!!🍻😊
A gem! The drinks were beyond reasonably priced! The atmosphere was fantastic! I am looking forward to going back and I live in Chicago lol I’d visit New York just to go to Jimmy’s!! 3 weeks later and we’re still talking about the good time we had here!
Wanna make new friends over affordable, delicious drinks?Perfect spot by the streets of Times Square. It’s friendly, it easy and it’s super cosy place. Eat and go. Only drinks are available. Vaccination card and id proof must. The owner is very welcoming and super active. Don’t go if you are not above 21. New York people a must visit ❤️
Wow! Incredible service and the cheapest drinks we’ve ever had! Jimmy’s Corner is a great low key hole in the wall bar that is a “must visit” when in New York City! We will definitely be back next time we are in the city!
Best dive bar in Times Square cheap drinks $4 shot with a pint beer back. Jute box music and great boxing decor. Locals and tourist are welcome. Staff ROCKS
$3.5 shots and mixed drinks. Great place to just hang out and get cheap drinks. You wont find another place like this in Manhattan. Not sure why its not more popular. Not a fancy place but they have tables at the back and even have negronis! Place is decorated with a bunch of Muhammed Ali posters and pictures which are fun to look through.
By far the best deal (and best-kept secret?) in the Times Square/Midtown area. I had three bourbon & Cokes, my husband had three draft beers, and our tab was less than $20. The bar itself is small and definitely dive bar in decor/ambience, but the bar staff were perfectly friendly and I was more than satisfied with the quality of my drinks. Will definitely return!
The staff is aloof and inattentive. The bar itself attracts patrons that are nuisances and disorderly. Come to drink your sorrows away, dont bring a date.
Super narrow space that offers unbeatable prices in Midtown. Loved our bartender!!
This place is a 5 star place apart from the incredibly aggressive Asian american. Ruined the vibe of many people. ⅔Shame as otherwise lovely place. Other staff great
The best bar in all of New York City. I have friends in the city that I visit often and of all the bars I have ever been to, nothing ever felt authentic. No place ever felt like it had a real soul to me. This is the only place I’ve been that felt authentic... and it’s located in the heart of one of the most inauthentic places in not just the city, but all of America. Also, if you are a boxing fan, this place is a must-see. Smothered in amazing history and a great place to just take it easy and grab a few cold ones.
Coolest bar inNYC, enough said.
Very nice place, cheap beer, cozy environment, friendly staff.
I wish I could give Jimmy’s a better review. After enjoying the atmosphere and couple beers with friends our experience quickly changed watching a young, entitled bartenders interaction with another customer. The other customer was a foreigner and after paying cash for his bill was unsure about the tipping process. The bartender, who had been employed there for only a few months, demanded “you must tip me now.” I interjected hoping to give a fuller understanding of tipping “when and if you tip it is at your discretion dependent on the service received.” She was angry with me and demanded her tip then and told me to stay out of her interactions with other customers. I believe in tipping and understand it is a large portion of a bartenders salary but also believe it should be dependent on the quality of service provided. I have never seen someone demand a tip before, which actually defies the definition of a gratuity: something given voluntarily beyond obligation. I don’t think Jimmy would tolerate such rude and entitled behavior out of his employees.
Jimmy’s Corner bar is the 🐐 if you like dive bars and you’re in the Times Square area. Cheap drinks, good vibes, and a great place to meet new people. Many memories made here.
Great bar and good vibe. The minimum of 10$ to pay by card is a little annoying but it cant spoil 3$ beers!
Cheapest and best dive bar in NYC!
12/28/23.Drinks good prices, bar staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was good, and had a great time talking with some of the locals in the Jimmys bar.
Definitely a must for any dive bar enthusiast thats traveling to NYC. The memorabilia is great and the drinks are cheap, but the place is TINY so if you are claustrophobic would not recommend. Other than that awesome place
What a great place- no frills , cheap drinks, cocktails are simple and made well! The owner, Jimmy, is a legendary boxing coach - hence youll see many boxing photographs hung all over the wall. Space does get a little tight and you may have to wait.- but hey if you want to have a good time with your friends, its worth waiting for a table and spending some time here. Enjoy!
Definitely the best place in NYC. Place full of positive people - you always find someone to talk during drinking (probably the cheapest) beer on Manhattan. Staff is very kind.
Great place to go for a good time. Good service, atmosphere, and people. Great for tourists and those who want to enjoy the nightlife without the cost.
Amazing local bar with awesome service, phenomenal prices, and the best atmosphere around. I don’t come around this area often, but next time I do, I’ll be sure to come back! Cheapest bar in Manhattan with the best service!
Great wee dive bar just off Times Square
The best prices in all NYC. Do not go with hungry. There is nothing to eat but a lot to drink. It is a very small place. Antique decoration. We went 3 of 5 days. They had the NBA game. Very close to Time Square. Very nice place.
A good bar in Times Square. They have no food or snacks though. And the staff could be more friendly. But good to spend time there.
Nothing bad to say. This place is an amazing unbelievable gem
Love the vibe and drinks are crazy cheap. However dont order on the rocks...Glenlivet was very chalky and weird
Historic charm and irreplaceable character. And the prices! Had to do 3 rounds to hit the credit card minimum. Go early if you want to ring the bell (ringer buys everyone the next round).
So glad we found this place! Jimmys Corner is a really cool little bar that feels (and probably is) mainly a locals bar. We sat at the bar and loved the atmosphere, cheap drinks and lots of cool boxing photos around.
Very nice, cozy and cheap place. The service was excellent, quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend. The only downside is that because its small and popular, it ends up being a bit crowded, so you might have some trouble finding a place to sit. Other than that its definitely something to check if one is looking for a casual drink.
Old. Dirty. Small. Dive of all dives. Cold cheap drinks. Don’t expect to be blown away by the environment and you will be just fine
Very mellow and low key atmosphere. Really cool pictures of Muhammad Ali and other celebrities decorate the walls and tables. This is my third time here and theres always a crowd. Beers are super cheap, especially for this area. Def would come again
Its shocking that a dive bar this good exists in Times Square!! It manages to have a neighborhood feel with all the staple varieties of bar seat neighbors that you never knew you needed. Drinks are cheap and strong. Jimmys Corner really puts the joy in weekday afternoon drinking.
Cool dive bar with a neat history and tie to Mohammed Ali. The bartender was awesome and laid back. Great beer prices especially for the location. The bathroom is small but it works for the feel of the bar. Cool authentic pictures on the wall. Its chill.
Very busy little pub with good beer selection, very cheap compared to rest of the bars in Midtown
Bast bar in midtown, and probably the last authentic place that isn’t some bland corporate franchise. Can get busy, and it’s little, but it’s fantastic.
Amazing place!!!!!!! The prices are heavenly.
Great dive bar, staff, atmosphere and prices, especially when you consider the location. But above all else its the jukebox that makes this place even better. Loved the music with my beer and bourbon chaser! Just how I imagined and hoped for a NY dive bar to be. I hope our signed dollar bill gets put up by Jimmy!
Love this bar! Always a great atmosphere. Cheap booze considering its so Central. Jimmy is a legend if you are lucky enough to meet him. Friendly locals and a good escape from the tourist madness.
Small for a midtown bar but u cant beat the staff and the prices. One of the few places in Manhattan where Id wait for a table because every night here is a good night and youre always bound to learn something new. Jimmys been around a long time and just reading the memorabilia on the wall will show you some of the greats hes worked with in his lifetime (including Muhammad Ali).
Great, FAST service. Yes it’s busy, but the bartenders handled it all like champs! Will 100% recommend to everyone and be back every time we are in NYC!
Paradise in the middle of the theater district . Place has been around many a year . Pics of Mohammed Ali as a young man with Jimmy , the owner now passed line the walls . Lots of history and storytelling served up with ice cold beer . Place is small on space but big on heart . Been a few times and will go many more .
Great spot for a good strong drink with good friends.Even if you dont have friends you will make some at the bar.Extra plus that the bartender remembered all of our drinks from sight.
Can get crowded, but its a great time. Cool bartenders. Good time to just grab a drink and relax with buddies. Right near other big sites in the city too.
DON’T GO IF YOU’RE A TOURISTsuper unwelcoming, will only give you one drink then bring the bill and beg for a tip even when you’re asking to get another round. Weird vibes.
Boxing legends everywhere you look. A must bar too see. Tell Jimmy the Irishman said hi. A down to earth Bar
Love, love, love Jimmys Corner. Have been coming here for several years. Nice vibe and drink prices are unbeatable considering the area. Highly recommend checking it out. Good place to drink after a hectic workday or just visiting the area.
I only read positive reviews, and initially the place looks great, however the bartender (a girl) was absolutely terrible. She was extremely rude, giving us faces when we didnt know what to order right away, we didnt even see the menu yet as we had just entered the place 10 seconds before. She literally threw the change back at us. Seems like she had that time of the month.
Great place to have beer at 1/2 the price of the other bars near by. Don’t be put off by the look of the place from the road… go in you will be most welcome.
First time there to meet a group! Bartender already made me felt unwelcome. I been to many bars, Jimmys Corner is the worse!People there many cool and nice bars near by. Dont go to Jimmys Corner, the name just a band.... Other bars be bit better service or make you felt welcome!
Jimmy’s corner is where I tried my first gin and tonic when I was 21 so of course I give it 5 stars! Actually though, this is such a cute bar! Definitely go if you’re in the Times Square area. :) Can’t to go again since they reopened post-covid!
Great location. Great price. Great service. An iconic dive bar
The best bar in New York!
An old looking dive bar with probably the cheapest drinks near time square. No frills but good service. space is a bit tight but also has some seating at tables near the back. If a cheap drink is what you want and no frills this could be your place
Awesome grungy dive bar hidden in the glitz and bright lights. Its tiny, but service, atmosphere and cheap prices set this up on another level.
CHEAPEST BAR IN NYC!! If youre looking for a great time and a chill environment this is the place to be. If Being surrounded by people you dont know and immediately connect with them sounds interesting this bar has it all. (Most drinks are $4 to $7 depending on what you get)
They dont like tourists. If youre from out of town youll be treated poorly.I decided to take my foreign friends for a drink since the place looks cozy and has great reviews. We were not able to sit (the place is small and usually packed) so we grabbed a stool at the bar and waited for a table to open. Before we were done with our drinks, the bartender offered our seats to two customers that had just got in. When we asked what was going on, a patron threatened us and told us to leave. We tried to confront the bartender about it, but she said it was not her problem and that we should leave indeed.A very disgusting experience.
My girls and I found this place in Google and had good reviews. Once we enter the bartender look at us with discuss and we felt unwelcome. We just ignore it and kept going. Once we sat down the waitress was very nice and we had a good time. We decided to go again and the bartender (a different one) gave us the same look as the first one. There was no room for us to sit, so we were drinking standing up but what bother me the most is how they treat us because we are Hispanic. I cant believe in a place were their so many people from all over the world, but yet this white people look at us like we are disgusting human beings.
Google is not kidding when it says narrow. Sat in the back. Waitress was on top of it despite how busy it was. Not loud, and patrons were not annoying. Drinks were SO cheap. If you get lucky and can sit down well well worth it! Believe me when I say cheap. No two drinks were more then $11 total.
Excellent dive bar close to hell aka Times Square. Cheap beer (4 USD), lovely photos of owner Jimmy Glenn (RIP), famous boxers and vintage posters from boxing history. The perfect spot for a daytime beer, nights can be a bit too crowded (for me).
Jimmy’s CornerEst. 1971Layout/atmosphere*Narrow bar area in front; tables in back; four TVs; old fashioned jukebox; boxing photos (Muhammad Ali featured prominently); photos of customers behind and underneath the barFood/drink*No food menu*Four domestic taps
Jimmys is everything you look for in a dive bar. Interesting patrons, bartenders/Servers with just the right bit of edge and of course great prices!... went here tonight with 4 colleagues and had a great time, had a couple of rounds of whiskey, watched the hockey game and called it a night. Will definitely be back again.
If you want to have drinks while in Time Square but do not want to over pay for them then you definitely want to go to Jimmys corner. The place is literally a corner, more like a hallway actually, however, the staff is cool and pretty laid back. Did I mention that they do not overcharge for drinks and they are located in Times Square? lolThe place is old and the bathroom isnt very cleaned but you are going there to drink and not to eat or sleep so get over it!The bartender told the most expensive drink they have cost $7, you cant beat that!If you want to read more about my stay in New York, you can visit my website jujugurgeldotcom
The beer prices are great, especially for the location of this bar. The enterior has seen better times, for New York it is ok. Most of the staff is friendly, but one guy was trying to fool me, and that is a no go for me. Talk behind my back, I dont care but keep up a professional behavior in front of the customer.
Very inexpensive beer & drinks in tge heart of downtown. A true dive bar.
This place is THE best dive bar. Came here based on a friends tip & told us to play Motown on the jukebox which we did (really awesome selections) and Karrim was our bartender; he was very charming and apparently the grandson of the owner. Will be coming back for sure!!
Absolutely love this bar if your around the area its a must go toProbably the cheapest bar in nyc $3 for a pint of bud light the staff and bar owner are all very welcoming and had a really good laugh with them
Super duper old school bar. A real NYC experience, which is hard to find around Times Square. The space is shaped like a galley from what I remember but I had a great time there. I hope they reopen soon.
Been twice now on 2 trips to NYC. Such a gem amongst the tourist chaos of Times Square. Will go back every time Im back in NYC.
First time in New York, found this place on Google and had a great time...at first bartender was almost ignoring us, I guess she saw that we are tourist and we didnt felt welcomed... but we stayed and had a great time...cheap drinks, charming place, friendly crowd, loud music. We came back with our friends the next day, and there were two other bartenders working, who were very nice.
Very good old skool neighborhood atmosphere bar. Filled with boxing memorabilia also my family know the owner (Jimmy Glenn ) Trained my uncle Carlos how to box. Cant beat the prices for this Times Square bar.
Best drink prices in Times Square by a mile. The bartenders also served at the back tables. Very small place but if you get in there, the service and prices cannot be beat for the location. Not even a competition.
Generally a cheap place with history and atmosphere.Perfect dive bar in great vicinity of Times Square. Supplied with beers to sort your beasty hunger for alcohol near one of the most crowded places on Earth. Drop by.P.S. Easy to meet some journalists from nearby newspaper
Don’t get me wrong, you’ll find the cheapest drinks here within Times Square. But you’ll also get a “What do you want?!” greeting at the door from an off the street bartender. She even said it herself, that if you’re looking for service, this is not the bar you want to be in. Watered down mixed drinks and to top it off, the measuring shot glass is “rinsed” aka dipped in a container of standing water. Glad to have seen this AFTER we finished our drinks. I’d recommend getting a bottled beer instead. Cold enough and less of a chance for them to mess it up. Simple drink orders as well, that includes NO Vegas bombs. Venture at your own risk.
The famous boxing bar. Long thin and dirty (famously!). Very friendly owner. 4 drinks here were $13.50 compared with the cheapest anywhere else of £31. Whats not to like!
By far the best bar in New York. Run by boxing promoter Jimmy. We stumbled on this place and it really is a little gem. Drinks are so cheap. I think $3 for a beer. Juke box and just an all round great night.
What a great Bar. We had the best time in this bar while in the city. The bartender made the best bloodmary I have had in a long time. The drinks and beers at great prices. the atmosphere was amazing and we met some great people. We will be back next August
Smaller place but the bartenders were great, the drink specials are unbeatable and the history of this place is incredibly interesting. Be sure to check out the photos on the wall (if its not too busy). The whole bar was intrigued with those photos
Great bar! Nice variety of affordable beers ;)
Great prices and great vibe!
Best place to hang in NYC. Unpretentious, down to earth atmosphere and people that we met were great to hang with and had some good conversations. Bar tenders friendly...music on juke box old r&b, blues. VERY reasonable $ (same drinks we got @hotel bar cost us $32 we paid quarter of that @jimmys). I am a boxing fan; the pics there are worth the trip alone. Wish I had an opportunity to meet Jimmy himself, that was only downside. Will def be my go to place next time I am there...pffft wish I was there now!
It is one of the best dive bars near Times Square.
A friendly, no frills, cheap bar.The barman is really chilled. It’s a bit rough and ready decor wise, but the beer is extremely cheap for New York.
