LOVED!! Little Gem, the pub is lovely and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great spot to eat and drink! Their happy hour looked great too.Fun music and sport on the TV also enhanced the experience.

What can we say we flew over 4000 miles from Liverpool UK and this place didn’t let us down, food amazing and drinks great too. 6 of us and the bill was very reasonable. Decorated for Christmas to a high standard great music modern and clean

I had a hard time believing this was true until I saw it myselfAnytime, not just during happy hour, can you get these beautifully plump one dollar oysters with all the fixings. Someone recently went viral here for eating over 70 oysters and although I won’t be doing that in this video, Lord knows I’m up for the challengeGreat spot for a Halloween dinner date or to watch the Yankees try to win a game this week! Happy Hour here is also absolutely wild with $5 pints of beer and $7 wine

Busy pub with good Irish food, oysters and interesting drinks. We sat down at 5 on Friday evening and place was packed by 5:30! Service was a friendly team effort. All requests were accommodated. Recommend the Guiness beef stew, onion rings, and NY strip.

John Doe Bar & Kitchen was such a good time. Their happy hour was one of the best in the city. Most of the drinks we ordered were $6 to $10 and it went until 8pm. They made a really good margarita too. The staff and service were impeccable and the nachos, mozzarella sticks and the honey mustard wings were outrageous. Next time I’ll definitely try the Buffalo. I bet those are really good too!!

I’ve been coming here for about 4 years now, and I love this place. I have yet to have a dish, I did not like. The drinks are on point too. The staff is great! 10 out of 10, definitely recommend.

We sat by the bar on a weeknight and the service from the bartender was speedy! The price for the beers and cocktails were very cheap/affordable. They have $1 oysters every day!! The oysters are tiny and tasted ok. The inside is dim and can get loud depending on the crowd.

As a few people mentioned, their influencer advertisement shows that you can order as much oyster as you want. Well, technically yea.....but expect more than half an hour for your first round of 12 oysters(limit per time). Even if you order right after you get your first round, the wait time is still half an hour. Also, they do not follow the sequence of who ordered first. We placed our order of food plus oyster first, then 10 mins later the table across from us placed theirs. They got served their full order before we even got our appetizer, favoritism? Yea, very unfair.

We stopped by with our group of nine before our dinner reservation nearby. We got lucky and were able to grab a couple tables next to each other. The drinks and oysters were great. Our server was super sweet, and the Christmas decor created an amazing ambience! The TVs were also nice to catch the football game that some in our group were watching. We will be back!

My friends and I happened to find this place looking for a quick bite to eat before going to Museum of Sex for my birthday, which was just a minute walk away!(so convenient). Amazing cocktails for amazing prices especially considering the location/ ambiance. Really great food. We went back for more drinks after going to the museum. Great service as well! Will definitely be a go-to for when I’m in this area! My friends and I recommend the frozen strawberry margarita, the regular margarita and chicken/ fries! Will definitely be trying the oysters next time!

Great staff, the host and server were excellent to start, then my food was great. Id been craving a good steak for weeks and found no joy but here i had a perfect med rare NY stip steak that cut like butter and tasted dreamy. My dinner companion ate something, i couldnt tell you what because i was in my own little steak induced heaven but they seemed to have a similar experience.

This is a nice pub we stopped in. Bartender had a slight brogue that sounded pleasant and she made a good gin and tonic. The food smelled good and looked appetizing but we just stopped to wet our whistle.

Solid bar. Friendly staff, basic menu, but plenty of variety and daily specials. Expansive happy hour 11a-8p. Kind of a dive bar or roadhouse vibe. Popular with the locals. I came for the chili nachos but they were not on the menu. So I got the fish & chips. Fish was great. Fries were good but greasy. I would return.

Awesome discovery ! Ate outside on a sunny day, waitress and owner were so lovely with us. The food was insane every bit of my plate was a pleasure to eat. Will certainly go again at night to try the bar !

I went into this store with my friends happily, and they treat me like Im invisible. For any guidance or service, I wait five minutes where the staff is in sight, and I keep pretending I dont know. After ordering the beer, I knew I had to take it from the bar by myself, but it was very slow, and then I went to pick it up several times because I had to replace the keg, and there was a gap for a while, but the glass was left unattended in the bar. Our partys seat was at the entrance table. In this case, I think you have to bring it to us or call us. It was written on Google that it was open until 4 a.m., but it already says no sound and body orders are possible before 12 p.m. Also, you have to give information before choosing a side dish and write it down so that Google can know it.

I had the fish&chips, fish was tasty (including a delicious dill sauce) fries could have been a little crispier. The drinks were very nice!

I walked in on a Monday afternoon and was a very soothing vibe. Mild music playing around with a less than average crowd density since it was afternoon. The music picks up after evening and gets really busy. I tried the cocktails and chicken cheese naachos. The food was great and so were the cocktails to say the least.Alex took good care of me and was super attentive and loving, kudos to her!Would definitely visit again.

Recently, visit John Doe pub. While waiting to be served at the bar. All of a sudden the day manager, walked over and stated could you move over to the high table. I looked at him and asked why? Since theres only 3 other people sitting at the bar. I believe, the excuse was the female bartender didnt want to serve us at the bar. I looked at him and stated, since when does a bartender tell the manager who she will serve at the bar. Left money on table and walked out..

Great spot, nice people and good energy. It’s hard to find a nice bar now a days without someone trying to start a fight but this place has a great atmosphere and is one of my go to places now!

I walked past this spot with a friend late on a Friday and we decided to check it out. I am glad we did. The service, food, drinks and atmosphere were all worthy of a five-star review. If I lived closer to it I would definitely go two to three times a month for sure maybe more. Highly recommended.

Sat on their dog friendly patio with our small pup a few weekends back. The girl server was very on the ball, the guy was more laid back but his friendliness made up for it. The food and drinks were all very good. We had the Buffalo Mac and cheese with chicken to start and that was a full meal in itself! The house salad was hearty with the pecans and feta, I would do a different dressing next time. The penne was also very good, there were onions which we did not expect. Overall, everything was above average and wed certainly go back in the area.

We came here for the happy hour. Oysters taste pretty good! Draft beer was very mediocre though(tasted like canned beer). The WORST was the SERVICE! Our server seems to be unhappy that we only came here for the oysters.

John Doe has the best service I have ever received from a restaurant - ever! Joshua the manager is an absolute gem and personally hand delivered my order after the first delivery had an error. Now every time I order he checks to make sure its right and its always PERFECTION!I cannot say enough good things about the service here - but thats not all. The food is DELICIOUS! I absolutely love the Buffalo chicken wrap. The chicken quality is always great (none of that questionable meat you sometimes get), with crispy iceberg lettuce -- chefs kiss!Thank you Joshua and the entire team at John Doe. I am actually really craving the wrap now after just thinking about it. You have a customer for life!

The oysters were PHENOMENAL, drinks 10/10, and food superb. My friend and I split potato skins and some wings - the manager Joshua brought our food out to us and ended up talking about history of oysters and where they are sourced, he commended our wing flavor, and recommended INCREDIBLE drinks. If you don’t wanna come for the food then come for the amazing staff and perfect atmosphere. My friend and I enjoyed a good two hour dinner just because we wanted to stay and hang out!! Ive been to John Doe before and had a great experience but unfortunately it did not happen this time. My friend and I were eager to get there after work last Friday to get our weekend started. When we arrived there was no one standing where we go to be seated so we walked towards the bar. Many happy hours in midtown only let you sit at the bar for happy hour so we started to do that. We didnt want to assume so we walked back the front to wait on someone to sit us.Finally, a waitress, short Spanish woman with glasses asked us where we want to sit. We simply asked if HH is only being honored at the bar. She rudely replied in a snappy voice and stance, it doesnt matter where you sit, inside or outside it doesnt matter. Heres the thing, it wasnt what she said, It was how she said it. Thankfully my parents raised me right and I didnt immediately respond with her energy because if I did, It would not have been pretty. My friend and I looked at each other and decided to leave before it escalated.You do not talk to people who want to patronize your establishment that way. At this big age you should know how to talk to people, especially the same people you want a tip from. John Doe will never see me again.

Found this place randomly walking around and it was a great choice. The sliders were great. The wings were not my favorite but they were good.

I have a wishy washy relationship with this place. Its a neighborhood staple but the lack of quality drinks and the occasional luke-warm beer makes it hard to be a regular. Ive also been charged the wrong tip amount ($30 instead of an intended $10) which doesnt leave a great taste in the mouth.

This place is incredible! We got $1 oysters that were delicious. The drinks were great. We ordered the salmon wrap and the Whiskey chicken. The salmon wrap was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The raspberry mint vinegarette was so great. The sauce on the Whiskey chicken... no words. So good! Definitely coming back!!

Great bar, super lively with the office crowds at the end of the working day, and a good location on 5th Ave. Grab a spot at the bar and chat with the bar staff, who are genuinely funny and engaging. Drinks were well priced, good menu and specials. Will definitely return.

I stopped by on a Monday afternoon and was welcomed by a peaceful, laid-back vibe. Gentle music played softly in the background, and the place wasn’t too busy, likely because of the time. As the evening sets in, the music picks up in energy, and the crowd begins to grow. I tried the cocktails and chicken cheese nachos, both of which were fantastic. Alex’s service stood out—she was attentive and friendly, so props to her! I’ll certainly be coming back.

In order to get 1$ oyster, you have to order something else with it so we ordered Parmesan fries. And you only can get a dozen oyster at a time even with 2 people. We sat there for 2 hrs and got only 4 dozen oysters. Eating a dozen oysters took about 2 min. It was difficult to track down our waitress. The oysters took about 20-35 min to arrive our table after placing the order. I also saw the video where the person ordered total of 60 oyster. On the video I saw two dozen on the table which was different from what they actually allowed. The fries were decent. Just a lot of restrictions. Knew there had to be a catch.

Great selection of beer. $1 oysters are addicting and very fresh. Ambience is great, would definitely recommend going and will be coming back on next visit.

First time here and they had shockingly great food (shocking because its a bar and we didnt expect the entrees to be lip smacking delish). Their daily deals are also great. Good beer selection. Service was wonderful. It got a little loud during lunch but that was okay with us. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Our second time here but this time with the kids. We came here for brunch, but I think the star of the meal was the $1 oysters, which we loaded up on a few dozen! The steak and eggs were also great, which came with home fries. The kids were able to share a chicken nuggets, which you can also add on fries for an additional $3.It wasnt super crowded for a Saturday early afternoon. They have two bathrooms, single unisex and fairly clean. Only thing I would add is the toilet paper they have is somehow thinner than single ply, if thats even possible.

Staff is so wonderful and nice, so welcoming. Drinks are good and strong (had the Titos Tea and the John Doe Mule) and the food is great too! I recommend the Cajun Salmon Sandwich and the Honey Mustard Wings! Went 3 times in one weekend and Ill be back again! Thank you!

Dropped in on a wet sunday afternoon. Glad we did, my wife and 2 kids ( 12 & 8 ). The food was great, home cooked and tasty. It was my daughters birthday and they gave her a balloon and sang happy birthday to her. Lovely saff, good beer . We would 100% recommend John Does Bar.

We visited NYC about 3 weeks ago. It was our first stop in the city as we just flew in and wanted something to drink and eat. We quickly ended up saying well be back before we fly home. We ended up ending every night in town hanging out up here. We absolutely loved this place. Danielle our bartender was as sweet as could be, and cant remember our other bar tenders name but he introduced me to Jameson. The food was awesome, there house ale was this Bees knees. We ended up flying home after four days and saying we felt like regulars in there. It will be a most definite stop when we return for sure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!

We were looking for a Happy Hour in the city on a Saturday and stumbled into John Doe. Didnt know what to expect but Wow! Instantly fell in love after having $1 oysters, truffle fries, the house Ale, and Spring In Your Step (A MUST TRY!) Its a gin cocktail that has lavender & basil and a pretty flower in it. BASIC yes.. and Im here for it. And another must try is their espresso martinis! Honestly one of the best weve had in the city.But the REAL credit and the reason why we go back every time were in the city goes to Miro and Joshua who are truly incredible people at this bar! Whenever we are in the city we have to stop by John Doe. Miro and Joshua really have made us feel like we are part of their family and we always have a great time with them! If youre looking for a drink or a meal, and more importantly a fun time look no further than the John Doe! And make sure to say Hi to Joshua and Miro!!! You wont be disappointed!

Absolutely horrendous service. Went in for food but the level of service meant that it took over ten minutes to get a drinks order taken and almost twenty minutes for the drinks to arrive. After that we were ignored when wanting to order food. They take your debit/credit card when you order and hold it at the till. I was given someone elses card back until I corrected the waiter. Safe to say we wont be returning.

We came to this establishment to kill some time and have a drink before going to a museum we had an appt for. We loved it so much that we came back and had a few more drinks later the same day. Thats saying a lot for how many places there are in the city! But we felt extremely comfortable there. I have a wheelchair and they were very accommodating both times. Also the appetizers we got were really yummy. I wish I could remember our servers names! Both were wonderful! One is planning a trip to Big Sky, MT soon (we live in Montana so it was fun to chat about). Next time I am in the area I would definitely stop back in. Cheers!

Amazing drinks! Would recommend the Grumpy Ole Man or Strawberry Cider. My partner & I ordered the Monday burger special and Oysters. Oysters were delicious. So delicious we had two dozen of them. Servers were really slow. I had to ask the server almost 5 times to get the check.I am sure this place is busy because of the happy hour oyster so the management can do better in customer service .Oyster quality is the same with the price of what you paid for (it is not fresh). This is a place that you want to go for cheap oysters in Manhattan if you don’t mind about quality.But be prepared of 30-40 mins for 12 oysters and appetisers.

If you go to drop a check at a table and they have their cards out, you dont give it to them and disappear for 15 minutes, you take it and run it, and no you dont got to be Gordon Ramsey to figure that out now do ya?

I usually don’t give negative reviews but I gotta say the service was a little inattentive. The waitress was a little impatient with us and we did not have anyone to check on us when we were eating. Food was ok and reasonably priced.

The food and experience were really good. We ordered the calamari, caprese panini, and fish and chips, which were all tasty. The waitress was very friendly and totally on top of our drinks and food. We dined in their outdoor patio area, which did not require proof of vaccination.

My family and I had a great experience here. JT was a wonderful soul who was courteous and patient with our young kid learning to interact with new people. The food and beer were perfect for an afternoon lunch. Highly recommend.

John Doe has become one of my new favorite brunch spots in NYC. Located on 5th avenue right between two of NYC’s most iconic spots ~ the Flatiron and the Empire State Building ~ John Doe Craft Bar & Kitchen serves a wide variety of specialty cocktails, and the most creative dishes that will definitely become your new obsessions! Happy hour is from 11 AM to 8 PM & they have weekend bottomless brunch! I ordered the Titos Tea for a cocktail and it was so crisp and refreshing. The Pink Gin Spritz was also a spectacular option! My favorite brunch dish that I got to try was the Hangover Burger and I added parmesan truffle fries to the order. It was absolutely incredible. If you are in NYC, you need to check them out they do not disappoint!

Great brunch option supplied through Pulsd. The mimosas were very strong and plentiful. They had omelettes which were pretty big for the area competition; overall portions were big actually. I love how much care is put into things here: from the server to the choice of seating to the bottomless mimosas to the food and the overall bill. Far from disappointed. Make sure to make reservations as the place seems pretty popular.

Bartender was polite and customer service strong. Had stopped by here with my GF before our city adventures. Guinness was really good and the fried calamari was excellent. We plan to return to proclaim John Does our bar. Really awesome time!

Love this place. So glad they are open right in the heart of Flatiron. Amazing food and people. The staff really know how to pour a drink. Frozen margaritas will really start you off nicely. Food is so amazing - try the wings :)

The food was quite delicious and service was excellent. Ambience was very nice too. I even got an Irish song sung to me by a fellow sitting outside with his dog. I was too taken aback by the fact I was clearly being romanced, but I will be back for everything this place has to offer. Hopefully so will he :)

A nice business casual bar on 5th ave to get a cheap drink and some good food. I recommend the tequila wings and do not recommend the chicken sandwich. Great for office happy hours.

Visited for after hour drinks with my sister. We ordered a Grumpy Old Man and a Berry Margarita. We only ordered the Berry Margarita because the Grumpy Old Man was strong as HELL. You ever sipped a drink and knew it was going to be straight liquor and you just hold it in your mouth prepping yourself to swallow it? Yeah, thats what we did until after awhile we just asked for a drink switch ....which also wasnt that great.The Berry Margarita was cool,.nothing special. It felt like we kept drinking and the drink wasnt budging. We love us some oysters and theyre only $1 all day and they were pretty good, Id give them 7.78/10, wasnt bad but wasnt the greatest weve had either.If you wanna hear music from 2015 and prior and live your nostalgia, come and visit.

Quiet on a Sunday night and quick and pleasant service as a result. Steak was brilliant... Cooked perfectly and so tender... Burger looked good too and after a long day stomping the sidewalks whilst jet lagged, this was exactly what we needed before bed.

Just what we needed, when we needed it. This casual, friendly bar was open at 3am and not blasting music so I ducked in just for a quick drink and to use the mens room. Imagine my surprise when I found the bartender Seamus to be so friendly, authentic, and warm, and rest of the late night crowd to be so low key, creating an unusually welcoming spot. Menu was full of unpretentious but tasty offerings, plus a good selection of craft beers.

We were there for the happy hour on a Saturday. They have quite strong and delicious cocktails. It’s reasonably priced. Give it a shot!

We LOVE John Doe and the whole crew there. We make it a point to visit John Doe whenever we’re in the City. The vibe is fantastic! The drinks are fab and the food is terrific. Oysters were fine, but the cocktail sauce they served with them tasted EXACTLY like lunchables pizza sauce. Also there was a DJ playing a really terrible mix at 2 in the afternoon.

I would give it zero stars if I could. Cute place however very unfriendly staff. Blonde woman bartender in a bad mood and horrible attitude! We asked for bar menu and asked about specials she slams the menus down and continues conversation with friend. Walks by us seven times and does not acknowledge us again. We let she know we were ready to order and she goes to other end of bar and serve other folks. If you are a visiting New York City give this place a skip and go where folks are friendly!

The food and drinks were great. I got the brussel sprouts which were delicious. It took along time for us to get any service to the point that we had to ask for a server. It has a nice atmosphere.

I went here recently with some friends. The Happy Hour deals were fantastic and the service was great.

Me and my friends absolutely loved this place.Good music, good drinks and good dishes.Its open pretty late which is a BIG plus so if youre looking for a place open after a night on the town I highly recommend this one.

Stopped by on the way to the flatiron. Nice selection of food and very tasty. May need to improve on their drinks selection but still enjoyed the visit and the lox cream cheese bagel was very good.

Cozy spot to come in and avoid the winter weather through ambience, great drinks and a fantastic shepherds pie. Would recommend!

This place is the best was there last weekend and the 90 mon drink package was well worth it and the waterless i had amazing took very good care of me and services was on point . Manger was very nice and funny the food amazing the oysters are my fav will go back there again

What can I say, $1 happy hour oysters! I liked the ambiance, low key, casual. Drinks were really good. The only blight was the bartender, she was miserable and unfriendly.

Was searching for a happy hour and found it! Tuesday is $5 tacos, $5 tequila shots. Wednesday $1 wings $5 beers. $1 fresh blue point oysters all the time. Bar staff is top notch.

What a find! We were welcomed in by such a cheerful staff. No wait. Amazing salmon. It made our day! We will be back!

Stopped in for happy hour, sat on the patio.Service was slow.Had $5 beer and a dozen $1 oysters.Oysters were full of shell pieces and the mignonette was horrendous.Couldn’t get out of there faster.

Great Little Place for Drinks and a Bite ! We Only Stopped in for a Few Drinks after Dinner and Before Our City Christmas Lights Tour. Food smelled great and we will certainly return. Service was great and the place had a great vibe.

A great place to stop after work. Great choices for food, although the salad selection is great, theres not much else for say a vegan or vegetarian meal. But the service is excellent and drinks are great. Its a good pitstop.

If you like oysters this is the place dollar oysters all day frozen margaritas are on point nice atmosphere lighting can be better but the prices are good

Went there for drinks after some shopping on a sunday afternoon, great service with a very attentive but not pushing waitress, large and pleasant terrace and they have happy hours up to 8pm . Defo recommend

Had takeout from here twice over the weekend. The chicken Caesar salad was very good. The chicken on the salad was delicious. Service was quick.

So I usually get water when I drink but our bar tender sharande was amazing when you asked for lemon water it was actual lemon water food is sweet and tasty too enjoy this casual hot spot. Trust me you wont doubt going here and if you do reply to me so I can hear your story.

Great little spot on the main drag that we stumbled into to have a pint. Bartender was super friendly, a lad fresh from the Eire with less than two years under how belt in America.. Made you feel welcome. Decor was great for the holidays. I went with a Sweet Tarts Cape Cod Cranberry sour, which wasnt as sour as I would have liked.

Phenomenal bar and staff! A great spot to head either by myself or with friends. The ambiance is perfect and the beer always fresh and cold. A 5th avenue staple!

Best Happy Hour in the area. Cant go wrong $4 house lager/ale for 3 hours. Rotational specials and their kitchen are great as well.

I love this place. Ive been coming here for years and never had an issue. Great food, staff, environment, etc. However I was very disappointed in the drag queen they hired yesterday on June 1st to kick off pride month. The owners of the bar need to sit this person down and have an adult conversation about how the platform she was given to entertain us is not to be used to express their personal anger, beliefs, and unfortunate situations in life. I am gay, very proud, and excited to celebrate, however this drag performer was offensive and showed undertones of anger while screaming When I say free, you say Palestine! When I say black lives, you say mater! When I say black trans lives, you say matter! It was utterly ridiculous. She literally said Ive recently had a bad couple of weeks in my life before going on a 10 minute awkward monologue about how shes trans and had a hard life. Youre wearing a thong! This is not the place for your sad life story! I am trying to eat my dinner and catch a buzz and this person is unloading their personal beliefs and grievances on me - I felt very uncomfortable. Im not sure she has the maturity or is in the right mental state to hold a microphone in front of guests. Thanks for your time, and I hope this helps. Ill be back soon for cocktails!

When nothing was open we found this bar working and had a quick drink. Kitchen was closed and we had to get the drinks at the bar. It was a cool place.

Great place. Was paying $10 a pint until found this place $5. My wife had oysters $1 each min 6 to be ordered. She said they were fresh and delicious. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. This is my 3rd evening here, walk 1.6 miles from time square to get here as love it.

The bar is a swirling, wonderful social machine. The bartenders (looking specifically at Crystal) are welcoming, hilarious, and excellent. The ambiance is perfect. The music is not too loud or too quiet. The drinks are cheap, the Guinness is cold, the people are engaging. What more could you want?
