Great staff and amazing food!I loved thier cocktails and tacos!. Would also recommend grilled octopus, really flavorful. There are 3 different types of guac and while the quantity is lesser than expected, the chips are amazingly fresh and flavorful
Kahlo offers a vibrant and modern take on Mexican cuisine, delivering an exceptional dining experience. I started with the Kahlo & Rivera Guacamole, a unique blend of avocado, lime, mango relish, and black garlic ancho chile paste, paired perfectly with crispy tortilla chips, along with Grilled Shishito Peppers that had a smoky and flavorful kick. For the main course, I enjoyed the Los Cabos, Veggie “Carnitas,” and El Gobernador tacos, each bursting with fresh, bold flavors, from the wild-caught Atlantic cod with a zesty cabbage relish to the shiitake mushroom “carnitas” and the rich lobster with a sweet pineapple relish. To accompany the meal, I tried the Bonito, Mr. Xoloti, and Granizo cocktails, each expertly crafted with premium tequila and mezcal, offering a perfect balance of citrus, spice, and depth. For dessert, the Tres Leches was light and indulgent, complemented by a smooth and unique corn liqueur to finish the evening.A special shoutout to Isabella, my server, whose warm and attentive service truly elevated the experience, making Kahlo a standout destination for modern Mexican dining in NYC.
What an awesome meal! The entire experience at Kahlo feels intentional and curated. The decor is beautiful and the food creates unique touches on familiar flavors. As a huge Friday Kahlo fan, I liked that she wasn’t a characature here but more tasteful, even features pictures I’ve never seen of her. The service was kind and attentive without being overbearing which is a tough balance to strike. I’d recommend this place to anyone!
This place is a beautiful ode to Frida. The food is amazing. The drinks are amazing. The service is amazing. We had the ceviche and guacamole for appetizers. They add a black garlic Chile paste and fresh mango that simply elevate the guacamole to give it a smoky, well seasoned taste. I had the skirt steak and it was cooked to perfection, medium/well. It was nicely seared on the outside, but pink and moist on the inside. My friend had the wild sea bass and she didnt leave a crumb to spare. The drinks were delicious, they cost $21 each. We ended by sharing the Tres Leches. It came with fresh mint leaves and strawberries. Very lovely! The only reason I would not go here often is because of the price. It is not cheap. A dinner for 2 (2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 dessert to share) cost about $300 with tip. It was definitely worth the price tag! If you want to splurge on some fine Mexican dining, get great service, and be reminded of Frida...you have to go! Viva la vida!
Nice atmosphere and great service. Great food with a little twist on our favorite dishes. Wish they had a chimichuri like sauce with the skirt steak instead of the breakfast potatoes.
Oh my God, I am absolutely obsessed with Kahlo!! When I came here for the first time, it was to celebrate my 31st birthday and it was incredible! This place has the BEST service in Hudson Yards, go see Chris + Sophia (they are so wonderful & will take the best care of you and your group)! Jeremy & Jorge will take great care of you at the bar, too!! Having been back several times over the last couple of years (since my initial visit), I have to say that it is always a great experience at Kahlo. Their tequila selection & cocktails are SO good. For their speciality cocktails, definitely try the Bonito and the Mr. Xoloti (the latter is spicy, and its delicious)!!For food, a few of my favorite starters include their: (1) Kahlo & Rivera Guacamole, (2) Black Truffle Esquites, and (3) Tuna Tostadas. For dinner, you cant go wrong with the Los Cabos Tacos. Their side of handmade tortillas are also an excellent compliment to your meal! I cannot recommend this spot enough, 10/10 recommend!! :-)
First time here with friends, nice, quit and cozy atmosphere, great place to spend time with friends or bring your date. Foods were pricey and quality was “ok”.
Went here for brunch on a Saturday. The place had a nice ambiance and staff were pretty attentive. The brunch menu was light in its options and the food tasted Mexican - American. We ordered the French toast and it was beautifully presented and sweet. The steak and eggs dish seemed tender and boasted full bodied flavor. They had delicious guacamole and seasoned tortilla chips for an appetizer option.
Wow, this experience was great. Especially from our server Isabella. The chicken came out perfectly cooked. We were really impressed with all the food. The entrees came late so they comped our sides which we didnt expect at all. All in all it was a very good meal.
A modern and elevated Mexican dining experience that brings next level service to the neighborhood! 🌮 The Mr Xoloti cocktail and Skinny Margarita were spot on. The La Catrina Guacamole, El Gobernador Tacos, and Arrachera Steak were simply exquisite. 🥑🦞🥞 The incredible service by Sophia made the experience even better. ❤️ Food enthusiasts.. prepare your taste buds. Highly recommended. 💯
Excellent restaurant! We went for dinner with coworkers here the other day. We had to make several adjustments to our reservation but they were super flexible and accommodating. The experience was exquisite. The drinks and the food were an elevated experience with very authentic flares. The staff attending us made excellent recommendations and was very attentive to our group. We had a great experience and would definitely come back.
I took my actual Mexican family members to Kahlo and was worried the food might be too modern for them to enjoy...boy was I WRONG! THEY LOVED IT. The guacamole and Chips were 10/10 for them. The chips have a good flavor to them all by them selves. Then the drinks were good (we got mocktails). The food was delicious!!!! Atmosphere: intimate with ambient lighting. I would go back!
Very cool vibe! The food is alright and a bit overpriced, but still good. Nice presentation though! The tacos were well made and tasted good. The tostadas was the nicest plated and wanted more of them! I got the Arroz del Jardin and it was nice, but definitely could have used more veggies! Not that filling either so if you want something more substantial, Id opt for the tacos.
It was our first time in Kahlo and we really liked it. It is also very close to The McKittrick Hotel so it was very practical to dine here first and walk to the venue.Decor and tableware were really cool.I had guacamole & chip and empanadas, my boyfriend had lamb shank and all were delicious.Overall, it was good service, delicious food and cool ambiance. A bit noisy though if you are looking for a quieter evening.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the taste of the dishes. They all sound very promising but once they arrived, they were nothing special. The fish tacos had just one tiny piece of fish and the lobster tacos were way to salty and tasteless at the same time. The black garlic guacamole was good but nothing special and we didnt taste any of the black garlic.
The food and cocktails were OK for NYC standard. Our lamb chop was overcooked, but the wait staff compensated us by offering us free cocktails. (She did offer to send it back to the kitchen as well). The cocktails were also light on alcohol.
Had a wonderful dinning experience! The food was all great. So was the staff. There was a bit of a misunderstanding and they were extremely apologetic and comped some shots 🥂 is nice to see that they care about their clients. As is mind bottling the amount of “high end” establishments where patrons are treated as if they are doing you a favor.
This a masterpiece of culinary art!!! My mojito was the pure essence of fun with mint sweet and citrus. This was followed by the lobster coctel which was a melange coconut goodness and creaminess the sweetness of the lobster with delicious pineapple. I’ve never had such a melange of flavors perfectly balance in a stylist painting of yummy. The prawns Diablo were the devil in the citrus and heat! We then had tacos, los cabos and shrimp al pastor. Heat and spicy and sour and citrus all blended so well that it was like paint brush strokes of flavor and texture. This was amazing.
Visiting NYC for our son’s 40th Birthday, we met up at Kahlo, a modern Mexican cuisine restaurant for dinner on an evening drizzling on and off. First if you are taking a cab or Uber, make sure they stop at the corner of 29 and 10th Ave. Ours didn’t and lucky for us Bibi at the front check-in walked a block over to find us and guide us in. Lovely entrance with a huge flower wall. We walked to the bar and had cocktails before our table was ready.Once our table was ready Mario V was our server and helped by others. The Manager was also there and was really nice to give us a special toast for the Birthday chocolate cake.We ordered the Guac El Charro, Molotes Trio and Lobster Coctal. All great. Then prawns’ side salas, 2 steaks, queso fresco and the Branzino which was amazing. Also Mole de Pollo and tuna Tostadas.Excellent service and food. We weren’t rushed and when we left, we took some more pictures.A great choice and strongly recommend
Excellent dinner. Food- 5/5; Service- 5/5; and Ambiance 4/5. Every dish was better than the last! I don’t recall the specific names of the dishes but we had the guacamole with black garlic, the salad, the fish tacos, and the vegetarian rice entree. Everything was bursting with flavor, freshness, and skill (kudos to the chef). I think this is the best guacamole I’ve ever had— I wish it were bigger! Next time I’d love to try the cocktails, but it was a work night. The service was outstanding and polite. The ambiance was great except that the music was so loud I could not hear my dining companion talk. If they lowered the music a bit, this place would be perfect all around. I’ll be back!
I can not explain how amazing this place it is! The food and drinks were absolutely original and delicious. The decor and atmosphere and staff was very nice. Definitely recommend it.
OMG! Such a beautiful place! The food was amazing - everything we ordered was delicious. I had saved this place on Google, and to celebrate my birthday, I decided to give it a try. We dont regret anything about it. The decor, the waitress, the drinks, the appetizers, and the entree were all fantastic. This is a place that I will definitely visit again. I give them a 20/10.
The atmosphere is nice and cozy, and the food is really good. We couldn’t try the cocktails but they seemed very good as well. Totally recommend it!
Very good food. We had several different appetizers to start. The lobster cocktail, empanadas and diablo shrimp were very good. The shishito peppers were very good although a couple of the them were surprisingly like fire! The menu was small. I had the pork tacos and a side of green rice that were both delicious. Overall a little pricey but a fun night.
My leadership team & I were in town for a meeting. Our company has an office in NY, and we had dinner @ Kahlo on 6/10. We were a fairly tame yet large party of 16 people and the staff was super accommodating. The food, service and staff were very nice and professional which only made for an even more pleasurable experience.I highly recommend them for large parties (please call ahead for large groups so they can accommodate) for dinner or just drinks.
I really likes everything about this restaurant. The place was so nicely decorated the ambiance was great and the food was amazing. I think this is a perfect date spot. The quality of the food was great and wasn’t too pricey compared to the portions you’d get.
Awesome restaurant, we are from Texas and loved the food. Great margaritas, real ingredients. Our waitress Isabella was great!
You have to walk in with set expectations. It is an upscale Mexican restaurant, not necessarily your weekly go-to when you’re craving some Mexican food after work. The price is high, the portions are small but the quality of the food is good. The ambiance and space is nice. The service was a little spotty for us and needs some work, especially for an upscale place off Hudson Yards. It’s a bit further west if you’re not in the area already. If you’re in the mood for a nice meal with a date or friends to celebrate an occasion, give it a try.
Perfect perhaps for Americans who dont know much about cooking and have no taste.Frankly, this restaurant is a joke: poorly cooked products, too fancy without any control. Microscopic portions that in no way correspond to a quality ratio.Bad experience. Very professional waitress, arrogant managerSuper noisy place . Uncomfortable
Everything we ordered was delicious!
Went to Kahlo a few weeks ago and it was amazing! Loved the steak and corn SO much! This place is also such a quaint restaurant for a cute date night! Highly recommend
Amazing food, cocktails and ambiance!Loved the decor and portions were very generous.
The food and salsas are fantastic but my favorite part of this dining experience was our server Kerri she was the epitome of hospitality. Going above and beyond to give recommendations we’d like and ever brought out salsas that we’d like.
Awesome place just a few steps away from The Vessel. The decor is classy, spacious, fresh and inviting. The food is delish, tapas style, so portions are relatively on the smaller side, but fulfilling enough.I had the guacamole with mango, and the lamb tacos. Both amazing, smooth, rich flavors. I also had the Fresa cocktail, the perfect touch of fermentation! For dessert I had flan and chocolate mousse. Also really good, specially the mouse, the flann was a little bland, but paired with a Rosè, had the right touch of sweet!Service was also friendly, patient and quick!
Amazing delicious food & beautiful restaurant with great vibes! Our server Kerry was amazing. Gave us some great recommendations and was attentive, fun, and sweet.I had the Granizo drink and the veggie carnitas and everything was delicious!!Will definitely be coming back.
Overall, great value and A++ across the board. Cocktails and food were all delicious, exciting, and memorable. For cocktails, the Fulang Chang and for entree, the Mole de Pollo Campestre - both hit the spot and I’ll definitely order again. The Elote was super well seasoned (the truffle was a nice touch) and a hit with the group. But the star of the night was the service - from the hostess, to the bartender, to the wait staff. Everyone was accommodating and committed to offering a fantastic dining experience - and they did! Ambiance/decor is beautiful, elegant, and edgy without trying too hard or feeling sceney. Kahlo has soul and I can’t wait to return.
Visited for my sister’s birthday—while the food was decent, the portions felt quite small for what you pay,and it took nearly two hours for both food and drinks to come out. On a positive note, the drinks were excellent—nicely balanced and well-crafted!
I would have given a three if the food and drink werent great! The host wasnt the friendliest, and we had to wait to place orders and for water and stuff. The rest of the staff, though, was fine. Guac was amazing, drinks were refreshing, and the food felt fresh. Staff can do a bit better, maybe next time :)
The food was amazing and Kerry was such a genuine waitress and gave us all of the best recommendations! The best service and food would 100% recommend.
The place itself is beautiful with this against chandelier and colorful surroundings. We went for lunch and thank goodness it wasnt too crowded because having a communication would be difficult. The decor is tearful and the vibe is creative. The food was ok. I ordered the Cabo tacos but the fish was dry inside a thick batter. My friend had the vegetarian mushrooms al “pastor.” and he thought there was too much broccoli on the base. Its continent to the highline but just ok.
The food was good and very tender, and the cocktails were innovative. The ambiance was a bit dim, overall good experience.
This restaurant was such a wonderful find we stumbled upon. The waitresses recommendations we perfect, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was amazing. Everyone there was eager to make our experience wonderful.
Very creative and delicious food and cocktails! Love the warm ambiance too 🍹🧡
Great service by Christian.Amazing ambiance.Had a great time with great friends.Lovely food.Only, wish better wine list.
Food was nice, it was a reconciliation for me with the Mexican food. The outdoor space is nice but unfortunately very uncomfortable with the noisy trucks passing through all the time. Hopefully NYC put some speed regulation to make this outdoor dining options more enjoyable
Needed a dinner spot close to The Shed before a 7pm show and this fit the geographic requirements. We had a sense it was going to be good based on the friendly reception at the door and beautiful interior, you step off an unremarkable West Chelsea sidewalk and into a calm and excitingly decorated space. We were greeted by at least 3 people, all with heartfelt smiles. We had some specialty cocktails that were creative and refreshing, shared one of the guacamole dishes, and ordered fish and the chicken mole as entrees. These entrees were fantastic, we each thought our own dish was delicious but want to order the other dish on our soon-to-be next visit. Reservations definitely recommended, during our unrushed two hours there, the entire place filled up and it was a Wednesday.
The food at the restaurant was enjoyable, with good flavor and decent portion sizes. However, the highlight was the outstanding desserts. Unfortunately, our overall experience was quite deflating due to the poor service we received from our server, Octavio. It seemed like Octavio was upset about something, as he completely dismissed us throughout our dinner.Octavio did not offer refills on our drinks, and when we inquired about the dessert menu, it was only provided after we had been waiting for 20 minutes with no acknowledgment from him. When we asked for the check, he failed to bring it to our table. This led us to give our card to another staff member to ensure we could make it to our train on time. Octavio then rudely dropped off our card without even bidding us goodnight, leaving us feeling puzzled and dissatisfied by his behavior.I would like to address Octavio directly: If serving is not the right fit for you, I would strongly suggest considering a different career path. Your role is to assist guests and create memorable experiences, and your service on this occasion was far from satisfactory.
Modern Mexican restaurant that offer a nice twist to traditional mexican cuisine.
Im visiting from out of town and found this place on Google maps when I was looking for lunch. I saw pictures of dishes that were apparently only available for dinner. The lunch menu is quite abbreviated and it was difficult to find something I wanted. For me, I feel like this place was s slightly overpriced for what was offered. However! The staff here is great, the service was excellent, and my Host shared with me places to visit while in town, and even gave us a free shot for my wifes birthday.
Kind of nice decor. It’s a bit of a ripoff for Mexican food in the middle of nowhere, oh yeah Hudson Yards opened nearby recently but sorry don’t set your prices like you’re paying rent in the mall. Guacamole was tasty but like 3 tablespoons for $16? Also no margaritas on the menu, weird. And $17 for basic cocktails. Everything on the menu was about double what you should expect to pay for it.
Amazing experience with our server Kerry! She gave amazing reviews on the food and drink choices. Definitely recommend her if you are going to enjoy a meal here!
Khalo was really good experience, the food was delicious also the drinks, the service was excellent and the manager was really friendly and helpful with the food recommendations.A nice atmosphere and beautiful place to share time with your couple and friends.Highly recommend
Pretty restaurant. Food was ok, my fried had the steak and she said it was cooked well. I had the lobster taco had no flavor. Service a bit slow. Had to ask several times for a beverage. Not impressed with this restaurant.
Absolutely amazing food, staff and cocktails.
Lovely place for a date. Guacamole is traditional and wonderful.
Its a mixed bag. The food is extremely overpriced. Many menu items (including the $20+ guacamole!) are devoid of flavor. The steak was pretty good (though not authentically Mexican in flavor). Cocktails are well-made. You can ask for cocktails off-the-menu. Some of the drinks/beers on the online menu are not actually available. Atmosphere is relaxed and accepting.
Excellence service, good was amazing! I love the ambience of the restaurant, excellent decor. We enjoyed all the dishes. Would definitely come back :)
The food was tasty the service was great, but after 10pm you order from a limited menu and I had fish tacos, beautifully prepared and presented, but even smaller than the little street tacos I’m am used to having. I came hungry and still left hungry and for two people $100 (two plates one drink with alcohol and one drink with no alcohol (lemonade) and I forgot to specify tap water so ended up with $11 water bottle my fault) the value just really isn’t there so I probably wouldn’t go back. I didn’t expect a massive plate of food by any means but they could at least provide side items or maybe chips and salsa 🤷🏼♂️ had to end the night at the $2 pizza spot which filled us up to satisfaction for the night
You will find this great lunch spot right off the High Line at Hudson Yards. The esquites were prepared just right and had a balance of sweet corn and just the right amount of lime.Tuna tostadas were stacked sky high and flavorful. The Winter salad had some of the best variety for a kale inspired salad that I’ve seen in a long time. The tacos could’ve have been a bit more seasoned for my taste but I did appreciate the presentation.I suggest the steak because everything prior to the main course setup the end beautifully!
Such an amazing place! The food is so fresh, tasty and original, everything we ordered to share was delicious. The service was simply amazing, our waitress was so professional and accommodating, we felt treated like VIPs! Very nice atmosphere too with beautiful decor. Will go back!
Great place to go for dinner. The restaurant is very nice and food was amazing. Our waitress was very kind and helpful
Disappointed. I made a reservation for 2 via their website. When we arrived they told us they didn’t have a table available and offered for us to sit outside (it was windy and 30 degrees out and they basically had 2 tables in the middle of the sidewalk with no protection or heat). We waited at the bar for a table. The 2 bartenders ignored us despite making eye contact a couple of times. We got a table in 20 minutes. Food was good but portions were incredibly small for the price. Service was fair. We ordered appetizers and drinks. They arrived in good time but then they forgot to come back so we could order dinner. They forgot our second drink order and when we were finally able to get the waiters attention the drinks arrived when we were getting the check. The only thing they had going for them was the atmosphere. It is a really nice looking restaurant. We will not return.
Went there for a quick bite on a Monday night. Food was below average; guacamole was pretty good (5/5) but empanadas and lobster tacos were below average. Service was good but atmosphere is not great and the place is almost never packed
Very nice place. Cocktails are good. Snacks and guacamole very tasty. Friendly staff
I love Mexican & decided to go to Khalo for my bday. The only thing good about K was the host and the atmosphere. The food was “pretty” terrible!! I felt so bad for my guests. As they felt forced to eat it and thus pay for it. Only looks great plated & for pic. Lol. We had the sea bass and steak main courses. Sea bass had no taste or seasoning, nor did the veg. It sits on a sweet potato purée that sort helps make it barely tolerable. The stake also, was not season, it was left unfinished. Not sure how the tacos fair but I would not recommend this place. For the price point, they need to do whole lot better!!And perhaps they should take hint by their lack of of patrons for a Sat evening they were not busy at all. So disappointing!! 😞
The food here is SENSATIONAL !!!Literally had a bit of everything because I couldn’t choose !! Soo many delicious options and I’m happy I did because I LOVED every single dish I tried especially the tacos 🌮Everything is seasoned soooo well and packs a punch of flavor !! Truly delicious food
I took my mom and aunt here for their birthdays we had such a good time. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is perfect, and our waitress was adorable. The bartender is also so meticulous with the drinks he crafts! Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Brand new spot. We just came in for cocktails but they were fantastic. The menu looks amazing as well, we will absolutely be coming here again for dinner.
Beautifully decorated place with friendly service and good food. Tres leches dessert was exceptional. Went there for lunch and felt that the lunch menu should not be as pricey - it was over $100 for two without drinks, and we were the only people in the restaurant so clearly the demand is not there.
I am one to rarely leave a review but this place forced me to do so. Looks can be deceiving! Beautiful restaurant/decor. Very attentive staff. Lighting in restaurant too dark. Waited over 30 min for our order and they were not even busy. Food arrived looking beautiful. Naturally, fine dining means a pretty presentation of food in a very dimmed lighting. The taste on the other hand was DISGUSTING!!The sauce they use was not even edible. The mini bite size tacos that were extremely overpriced and lacking flavor was not even a meal. The lamb shank was horrendous. No flavor in the meat and payed $45! Total bill $200 and walked out hungry and extremely disappointed. When we told the waitress the food was horrible she replied “OK” . I did not want to create a scene in a FINE DiNING place so payed and walked out . You can eat a mouth full of flavors, a variety of traditional dishes, and get your money’s worth at the food trucks in New York!
I am giving only two stars because the hostess and our waiter seemed put out to deal with my friend and I who didnt have reservations on a Wednesday at 5pm. After she checked to see if she could still give us a table outside (completely empty at the time) she told us we would have to leave by 6:30. 6:30 came and the restaurant was still practically empty, though we did leave on time. Food is good, but for $100 for two drinks and two appetizers, I would have expected friendlier service. I will not be going back.
Got the steak and eggs brunch on Saturday. The steak was undercooked and their was no egg. The server immediately went to the kitchen and corrected this. Seems like a lack of quality control, however. The server was the best part of this experience and she was very helpful in recommending drinks and correcting my concerns.
I was given the opportunity to have dinner at Kahlo a few days ago. EVERYTHING WAS JUST SUPERB! Perfectly splendid! My waiter was very knowledgeable about their menu. He recommended a fish meal and it was just delicious! I cannot remember all the names of what I ordered, but everything was just nicely prepared and yummy! 😊 I finished everything, from salad to appetizer to main meal😊.If you are looking for a friendly, professional, and to suit todays environment, a health safety atmosphere, to enjoy a mouthwatering meal, look no further, Kahlo is the please to be!
Our server Kerry was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. Perfect balance of attentive and friendly and cool, had great recommendations. Food was so amazing, one of my friends was annoying and sent something back and they were rlly cool about it and gave him something else equally as delicious. 10/10 recommend
Chic upscale Mexican restaurant close to the High Line. I went in hoping it would be more than Mexican, but expensive, and it delivered! Attentive service, very attractive surroundings, and the dishes tasted outstanding - and were plated impressively to boot. Expansive wine list, though just one Mexican wine (a dry, somewhat funky rose) by the glass. Really interesting cocktails with fresh takes on tried and true standbys as well. And yes, plenty of photography on the walls depicting the namesake artist to go with her art.
Seriously the best experience ever! Incredible cocktails, super tasty appetizers, the guacamole is amazing, and the food was just superb!!! Great service and super cute interior design. We absolutely loved it! Totally recommend it! (And I’m picky...)
New York is important to us all but then again so are modernist surrealists like Frida Kahlo so I decided to do a search and I found the most amazing chandelier .... A chandelier I could live in, so I went and sat at the bar & took it all in. Jorge the bar master made everything great with the way he explained the cocktails and was able to recommend them. The Diego I chose and was so happy I did because like Frida and Diego it was a fantastic surprise spice layered with deep amounts of alcohol and then a new honey lathering. Great job. Ill be back and definitely order it again. Thank you for everything Jorge your awesome
As a party of eight we were struggling to find a place in West Chelsea to have a nice dinner, but as soon as we arrived the hostess worked very hard to seat us as soon as possible, and she did. The food, cocktails and service were great, our waiters Isabela and Camilo did everything to make us have one of the best times weve had in NYC. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal and GREAT service.
This is a gem! The decor and atmosphere are a perfect mesh of elevated glam and the comforts of home. The service is impeccable!!! Literally everyone on the floor acknowledged us and was genuinely concerned with our experience. The food is top tier! The vuelve a la vida tostada was extremely fresh and a generous portion. The truffle carne asada sandwich was decadent and unlike anything else I’ve ever had. We had the Frida, strawberry margarita and a spicy margarita for drinks. They were all amazing. We had the key lime and tequila dessert. It was beautifully flambés at our table. Do not let this quiet and quaint spot fool you. You want to eat here!!!!!!! I cannot say enough to tell you why you need to come and eat here!!!!!!
Excellent and elevated Mexican with great food and cocktails. W enjoyed guac, chips, salsa, tacos, and other traditional dishes with a fun and refined twist.Adorable ambience and lounge music at the perfect volume. Cozy but not cramped tables, plush and very comfy chairs. This is an ideal spot for group hangs, dates, and solo diners.Don’t skimp the best tres leches and churros!
The place had a great atmosphere. The drinks and food were delicious. The management and staff were very attentive. Ill definitely go back and I highly recommend it.
I serendipitously stumbled upon this restaurant waiting to see a play across the street. The ambiance was beautiful. The food was delicious; I had the steak. Drinks are on point and as an added bonus, the bartender Christopher was super charming. I will definitely return when I’m in the area.
The food and drinks are exceptional here! Was very impressed. Goat cheese guac… chefs kiss. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly. My one piece of feedback to this place is there some ambiance elements that take away from the experience. Disco ball is very out of place and distracting. Same with the hostess dressed up as Frida Kahlo. Just felt it took away from it feeling classy there.
Very good Mexican food in an attractive restaurant with a cool vibe. Not street or folk Mexican (which is also very good), it’s more like Mexican cuisine. The molé is awesome, and the barbacoa is outrageous. Good drinks too.The service was exceptional. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. It’s proximity to MSG is also a huge plus. We were in the area for a concert, and a lot of midtown places are eh. But this spot really nails it. Highly recommend.
Excellent if slightly pricey Mexican food with creative cocktails in a cool and festive atmosphere. We were actually quite late for our reservation and the restaurant staff were very professional and worked to accommodate us.
Smallest portion of whole Red Snapper on earth! Not only small, but tons of bones. $48, no sides at all. $18 for churros that tasted like French fries with cinnamon. Don’t believe the hype. $200 + bill and still left hungry. Oh, and place too damn dark for dinner- had to eat and pick through my baby snapper with a flashlight on.
Simply remarkable dining experience. The ceviché with lobster was magnificent. Will definitely go again and try the signature cocktails using your favorite mezcal.
We had a great experience dining here. The food was amazing as well as the cocktails we had and the service at the bar was second to none. The lobster tacos are a must and if you like mezcal this is the place for you
Great food and ambience.
Honestly, I was disappointed. I saw that it was an upscale Mexican restaurant but when we went, I took my fiancee for a special bday dinner. But honestly, the food was Soo not what I expected. It lacked a lot of flavor, and the rest of my table said the same thing. Ive tried more affordable Mexican places that tastes better. But i guess everyone has different tastes. Their DRINKS are nice though, Ill give them that
Great ambiance, service is fast and friendly. Cocktails menu is great. Bartender makes them very good and tasty. Food is excellent had Plant Based tacos, and shrimp tacos.
The mole was too sweet and somehow the restaurant managed to make lobster tacos taste bad. Not sure if they were understaffed but service was terrible on a Friday night even though the restaurant was only about 60% filled. Drinks were mediocre. The only good thing about the restaurant is the decor and its basically a tourist trap.
9/10 on decor, ambiance and service. 8/10 cocktails. The Frida margarita was great and refreshing. They also had a mock tail list for people not drinking, which was considerate. 7/10, prices and food (shared guacamole, chicken mole and shrimp al pastor tacos). All dishes were good but nothing extraordinary, hence why I thought it was a bit overpriced. Theyre using Covid protocols as the reason why they wont serve you tap water and make you buy a $6 bottled water (never, ever have I heard Covid being an issue related to tap water), hence the total rating as just good.
I cannot express how much I love this restaurant, from the food to the staff everyone is amazing, the place is very well kept. This is my husbands and Is official date night restaurant. The manager Martha is super involved and attentive and really nice, makes you feel at home and really remembers you 😁😁 The food does not disappoint, everything is delicious, I always ask for the chefs special and MY GOD its good. Their combination of seafood and fruit is amazing. And to top it all off GET THE TRÉS LECHES !!! Just get it, trust me and tell me how you feel afterwards 😋😋Also a big shout out to our official waiter Francisco, he is super great and helpful.
Ughhh I can’t even begin to describe how good my experience was! The drinks were delicious, food was amazing (especially the elotes and shrimp tacos!) and the service was exceptional (our waiter was Rafael, who was fantastic, but every single employee was so nice!) Make sure you also treat yourself to the tres leches even if it’s not your birthday because OMG, it’s the best tres leches I’ve ever had in my life! Beautiful decor as well. Can’t wait to go back 😋😋😋
I don’t even know how I didn’t know this place before.Service was really good and every bite was an explosion of flavors. This is no ordinary Mexican restaurant, its above and beyond.I will definitely go back there.
Work dinner office is close and came recommended. Very responsive online helped me book, pick a menu, included my logo on the menu. Recommend and will definitely be back. We did the family style fixed menu.
Spacious, beautifully decorated and cozy restaurant serving Mexican dishes. The food was fresh, but lacked in flavor. Service was excellent.
Just was there this weekend with my family, had my daughter with me who is a toddler. Felt discriminated against. I was asking if they had any juices other than alcohol or any sides available i can get for my daughter. Just got the answer no the menu is the menu. Very rude and also never got an answer on drinks i had to go to the bar myself and ask. I wasn’t tended to well it felt rushed. Maybe if we were white it would’ve been different. Even one of the staff didn’t ask to move my daughters i pad to make space on the table he just insisted on touching it before asking.money i spent was not worth the service i received.
Tuna tostadas and pollo are delicious, will be coming back here
The best sea bass I ever tried!
Really enjoyed my time here, the ambiance is warm and the seats are cozy. It definitely feels like a good date spot. My group(3) got tacos that we thought were a bit over pricy but they were DEFINITELY quality. I think besides the food youre paying for— its the presentation, environment and honestly... thats fine, this place is worth it.
The drinks and food are delicious! We were able to walk in and get a seat, but I definitely recommend a reservation. Between the 3 people in my party, we loved all the drinks, appetizers, entrees and deserts we got.
Incredible service!! The skirt steak was perfectly cooked and the cocktails were creative and full of flavour. Highly recommend for a girls night out or date night!
Exceptional service and staff which really makes it a well rounded & enjoyable experience. The cocktails were balanced and the drink with spiced tamarind was smooth and lovely. Looks like Happy Hour has $10 drink options! The yellow fin tostadas were incredible! I think it’s the salty bits of roe on top that makes for a fiesta in your mouth! Fun ambiance, creative food options, cool vibe including their outdoor garden set up for these crazy times. Will be back!
Checked this spot out using a voucher from the app, Pulsd. It was $49 for a 3 course dinner for two with drinks. The deal includes one of their guacamoles, a botanita, a plato or taco dish and 2 cocktails, wine or beer. We each got their signature Frida cocktail with St. Germain that was really good. We ordered the kahlo & rivera guacamole with mango relish, black garlic and ancho chile. We ordered the maine lobster botanita with coconut, mango and pineapple relish and a crispy lotus chips. For our entree, we order mole de pollo campestre, the mole chicken with epazote poblano rice. We checked in through Yelp and got free tequila shots too which served as our dessert. Everything was really flavorful and delicious. I would definitely go back here.
The food is amazing but pricey for the portions. There are no real options for kids. I was a bit surprised that the “Kahlo” decor is lacking. There are just a few pieces with her photos placed in various dark corners... there isn’t much there to appreciate and celebrate the iconic artist. I would suggest they made more of her picture, art prints and maybe some representation of her style in jewelry or clothing more prominent and visible throughout. Other than that the service was good.
Service was good and the employees were nice, but I was not a fan of the food. Portions were small and it was not very appetizing. The presentation of the food was great, but the taste was not. I definitely expected more from such a well-presented restaurant.
Very nice restaurant with a lovely staff. We came without reservation and we get the table within 15 minutes.Food was soooo delicious especially the steak and guacamole.
I thought the tuna tacos were good but they should look up the recipe for serving mole. It was an American Mexican restaurant.
The place was really cool. My friends and i are vegetarian, we got there a little late on a Friday so they didnt have alot of veg options in the late night menu but we were able to get the cheese enchiladas. Recommend for those who dont eat meat. The waitress was the sweetest and the horchata shots were so good!
A beautiful restaurant, designed for romantic lunches or dinners. The service was excellent, timely and personable. The hostess did a lovely job of welcoming guests and looking after them. Starters were delicious and so were the mains - gorgeous concoction of spices, aromas and flavours of food, beautifully presented. High marks for the whole experience, look forward to returning there.
Last night was the first time we have dinner @ Khalo and it was delicious. Our server was full of personality plus attentive and knowledgeable. The environment and food was fenomenal. I will recommend that if you are around and you are in the mood for fine Mexican food this is the place to go..
The food here was definitely overpriced for the amount available on our plates. Also was not wildly ecstatic about the key lime pie. The presentation was interesting but the combination of flavors was confusing. The fish tacos were tiny. However, the atmosphere was great and it seems like a fun place to hang out.
This spot very charming, pleasing to the eye, good service. The music is a little too loud which forces to yell otherwise the person in front of you can’t hear you much. I tried small bites and the Tuna asada was exceptional, a little grilled on the outside and raw inside, tacos were really flavorful but I bit dry.
We attended a private function for my daughters birthday party and the service, food and atmosphere was amazing. I will definitely be back to have dinner here soon! Highly recommend!
Best Mexican Restaurant in town. Friendly and so delicious. The vegetarian taco is so good and the jalapeño sauce by the side is excellent. Start with La Doña Guacamole and the Berro salad. Enjoy an excellent dinner with nice music.
Good place. We got a couple of appetizers and we ordered tacos they were really good and the drinks we spot on we had a good time but I felt the service was a little slow even at the the end we got charged for a drink that never got there but they fixed it.
This place has the most delicious Mexican food.(and the entire menu is gluten free except for the tres Leche) I am Celiac and I felt very comfortable dining here.
Average flavors for Mexican cuisine
Amazing amazing amazing super cute and cozy and gorgeous environment decorations are spot on the bathroom really nice host was very lovely the manager Fernando was super sweet came by everyone table to greet us and make sure were comfortable and enjoying everything the wait staff was superb and the food is phenomenal !!! The drinks are incredible great spot for a date a pregame meal drinks happy hour night cap evening starter great for everything !Definitely coming back and bringing more friends and family thank you for being an awesome authentic restaurant !!!
My expectations of the restaurant started off pretty high. The guacamole and chips were on point and tasted great. I liked the charred topping as it made the guacamole unique. And the chips were seasoned which was a nice surprise. We also got the Berros salad and the dressing was very refreshing and was above our expectations. The black truffle esquites was disappointing. I didnt even taste any truffle in it. After that, the food started to become a bit disappointing. The empanada crust was too thick and the filling was very under seasoned and felt a bit undercooked. The plant based tacos were also very under seasoned and didnt meet expectations.I will say the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. Theyve spent a lot of time and effort making it trendy. The seats are comfortable and the colors in the restaurant are very welcoming. The staff was also very nice and friendly.Instagram Handle: @TheShahLALand
Awesome service, decor and amazing food. My favorites: Yellow Fin Seared Tuna - Tostadas (sensational combination of tastes), Al Pastor Tacos - Shrimp tacos w/ pineapple and must have guacamole + topped with a tropical pineapple salsa like deliciousness and pulled pork tacos. Looks small at 1st but more than you realize. Pty size 3+, order 2. Shishito peppers usually a no brainer however not my favorite bc w/ their other dishes are so amazing, unless your ordering multi-sides/ starters.
This place is definitely overrated. Food is just OK. We tried the Molotes trio as a starter, lamb shank as the main course, and both passion fruit and tres leches as the dessert.Chips and (plain) guac was not bad.For us, the dessert was the best part!!Limited space and tables are arranged very close to each other. On the plus side, they have courteous staff.
This restaurant left me speechless. The best tasting, most inspired, creative and authentic Mexican cuisine I’ve ever tasted. The cocktails compliment their menu in a way I’ve rarely experienced. Their selections of mezcal and tequila are top notch. I highly recommend you to do the mezcal flight. The wait staff are extremely knowledgeable and can expertly guide you through the menu, answering any questions you throw their way. From the minute you walk in to this place, you’re transported. Whoever they hired to do the interior design did a bang up job. From top to bottom, this place absolutely rocks. First date, anniversary, birthday party, you name it. This is the restaurant to go to.
The most authentic mexican food in NYC
Such a great atmosphere and very attentive service! My favorites were the guac and the Tamarind mocktail!
We Celebrated Dia de Muertos and we had a great time, food its delicious, the space its very elegant & the service was amazing!! I recommend it 100%We had live music by Mariachi Real de Mexico and catrina guests from ig:CatrinaproductionsincChef Gonzalo Colin Its one of the most well known and recognized chefs in NY, he always greets the guests and makes you feel at home with his attentions, Definitely Kahlo its one of my favorites!!Thank you!
We had a great time on new Years Eve joining the celebrations . They were very accommodating . Apparently if you are visiting Hudson yards this is a great option to catch some fusion dishes . I had the duck it was one of the most best I have had . The riced broccoli was great and the twist with mango was excellent . Sadly I cannot recommend the lobster .
Just a great quality restaurant.. the food is spectacular and the vibe is so chill.. a must visit if you’re in the area ..
Kahlo has a pretty cool vibe, and their spicy mezcal drink is amazing, but the food portions are really small.
Dishes were horrible in taste. The food did not seem like Mexican cuisine at all.
Incredible food and service. Gets a bit loud, so go early before 6p if you can and don’t like loud spaces.
I give this place one star for drinks only. Definitely not authentic Mexican cuisine. Black beans had no flavor and the rice is GREEN and GROSS. Definitely not worth the money! I will have legit nightmares about that green rice! Yuck!
Stumbled by this gem because of an unexpected extra night in the city. The cocktails were incredible and the Barbacoa is a must!
This is a true gem of a spot. The food is phenomenal, especially La Catrina guacamole. What really sets Kahlo apart, though, is the stellar customer service.
The experience was great the food was delicious, the atmosphere was great the food was all fresh guacamole was A+ the waitress super friendly I was scared at first thinking that it was expensive but it’s not I recommend this place for the family a get together and a romantic date A+ don’t think about it just come to this place I know you won’t regret it.
Awesome experience. Very nice food and very nice drinks. The waitress Tania was the star of the evening. Will return just for her!
GreT experience cant wait to go back
Great cocktails, food and service. My wife and I visit Mexico often and found the food to be authentic and flavorful. It’s a great addition to the neighborhood.
Room was very pretty. Probably outpaced the food. Found the mezcal shrimp a bit mealy, the tuna tostadas were a standout. Served us Fortaleza shots as an aperitif. Truly appreciated.Would go back.
Good Fresh food and Cocktails
Very cute inside! Food was absolutely delicious. Pricey and small portions but great food
Such a cool atmosphere! Everything is Frida Kahlo themed, even the food & drinks. Was there during Day of the Dead and it was even more decked out.
Excellent, authentic Mexican foodGreat service to matchWould definitely visit again
Great authentic horchata!! delicious food that fills you up. definitely recommend!!!!!!!!!
Very nice elevated Mexican food, the guacamole with chicharone is fantastic, and the service was fast and attentive.
Excellent from the start, we had our reservation, and were seated right away. The waiter made the experience fun, the food was very tasty!
Gorgeous decor, delicious food and cocktails, and their tres leches cake was among the top desserts of my life. Shoutout to Alejandro our friendly server 👍
Kahlo is just a gem.beautiful decor - great food and service! For me the Top mexican restaurant in Manhattan!
Since my hubby and I discovered Kahlo two months ago it has become our default place to go for celebrations and to take guests from out of town to.The place is designed very elegantly, and enough space between tables to keep it quiet and pleasant. The food is INCREDIBLE, especially everything with sea food in it, and the staff is so friendly and fun.Gonna be visiting many more times to come.
Fun concept.Food was very good! Duck taco a must.
Hello. My son and grandson ate at Kahlo’s a couple of days ago, and it was fantastic. Kerry, our server gave us the best recommendations for appetizers and main courses. She was so pleasant and friendly, and is one top-rate server. After eating at Kahlo’s, all our other meals out have been disappointing, so they set the bar very high. Cool atmosphere too.
Food is really good. Portions seemed small but they are very delicious.
Great find!! Food was absolutely fantastic and drinks were delicious. Atmosphere is fun.
Amazing! Our server was also amazing as well! Great food, hospitality & vibes!
Lots of small plates, creative cocktails, awesome decor, and great food.
Love the atmosphere. Service is great. Sadly, food lacks flavor. Or salt. Something. Lots of potential, but overall a bit underwhelming. Drink was nice. Also lacked the jalapeno punch I was expecting. The cut of the lime on the plates is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but hard to squeeze. Also. The table next to me asked for ketchup...🥴 why? Lol.
The best guacamole and service, excellent music and the servers are friendly. They knows exactly what is the better food for you.Recommended!!!
Great food and amazing staff. Will definitely go again!!!
Really love this place. The lamb and steak are stellar entrees and with plenty of starters, great cocktails and a great staff, weve been twice and will go again.Dont sleep on the strawberry meringue dessert. Light, refreshing and a great closer.
Wonderful ambience, cocktails and delicious food. Fresh ingredients , attentive service highly recommended
We came in looking for a nice Tequila experience, and we were blown away by the outstanding service and choices available. Will be back again and again.
I kind of hope only locals know that this place serve appropriately portioned flavor-packed Mexican. You will not find big burritos here. Youll find three hand-sized tacos and they will fill you up. Its rich ingredients with distinct Mexican flavors.
Extremely good food, nice decor, but very expensive. But it is NYC!
We sat at the bar and had a great dinner.
Great service and food! the ambience is really nice and the prices were not expensive at all for the quality of the food, Highly recommended! :)
Great food, and great NYC prices. Walking distance from the convention center. Cocktails were lovely.
Excellent food and vibes
Lovely
Great food and beautiful interior.
Don’t waste your time. Unnecessarily expensive as taste is average and portions very small. Avoid an extra order of tortillas, will set you back 9 dollars for 4 taco size tortillas of very average taste. Much better mexican places in the city. and check your bill, we found several additions we didn’t order.
Fabulous! I didn’t know what to expect from this restaurant as I’m not very fan of Mexican food but I loved it! Everything tasted amazing, the tosta with tuna nd the guacamole were to die for. Nice environment and very helpful and attentive staff. Highly recommend.
Dined alone, service was great, food was great, so glad I kept the booking rather than doing room service! Great place!!!
Always a good time. The waitress gave us a free shot too. Good for a weekday/weekend. Not super loud. Cosy, easy, chill overall. Great drinks too.
Excellent service! The attention was amazing and the food so great, 100% high quality.
We are repeat customers at this blend of traditional and innovative Mexican cuisine. So good!
The quality of the food at this Mexican restaurant did not justify the steep prices. As a food enthusiast, Im always willing to pay for a good culinary experience, but what I encountered here was a letdown. The dishes, while presented with a semblance of finesse, were significantly lacking in portion size. When dining out, especially at a place that charges premium rates, the expectation is to leave feeling that the experience was worth the cost. Unfortunately, this was not the case. There are numerous other Mexican restaurants in NY that offer more fulfilling dining experiences. Avoid the disappointment I faced. If, after what youve read, you still decide to go, be vigilant with your bill. We were charged an extra $60 for beer, mezcal, and wine that we never ordered and never had.
Congratulations David Castilla
Stunning in all areas. As soon as we left we talked about returning.
This place is amazing. Small, intimate. Great food, great drinks, a hidden gem.
Alejandro was great. Great new place with great food! You won’t be dissapointed, can’t wait to come back!
Excellent in every sense. Very relaxed, great menu for food and cocktails
Great food but poor service. Took forever just to get someone to take our order and bring a check.
The staff were nice and the food looked good, but the music was so loud I couldnt stay there
Servers are very pleasant. Cocktails are top notch and have personal touch to them
This place is absolutely incredible. The decor, service, and attention to detail was top notch. We were there on a slowish Saturday night, no idea why the place wasn’t packed. We had a couple cocktails off the menu that were unique and delicious. The guacamole was AMAZING, the tuna tostadas I found very unique! Great presentation and they gave us a round of complimentary tequila shots after dinner, which was a real surprise and very kind (they didn’t know it I don’t think, but it was my moms birthday). Thank you, Kahlo, I hope you guys have many years of great business!
Nice spot but needs more Vegan options
LOVE THE FOOD service was awesome all staff very polite and friendly.....Carolina was the best.
Great place, nice romantic ambience, guac was good, drinks were awesome, staff amazing
A good taste of high-end Mexican cuisine
A charming restaurant with warm, friendly staff. From greeting to adios, they were terrific! Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Branzino was wonderful, as were the Tacos Los Cabos.
This place is fantastic. I recommend 100%If close later will be amazing.
If you are in Chelsea make it a point to stop here. Such a gem! Great food, drinks, and ambiance. Loved it!!!
Good
The space is beautiful. Our service was very quick and precise. Food and drinks were FANTASTIC! BUT if your expectations are large American portions for this price, I should get a whole cow - please look elsewhere. If you are looking for an experience, this is a great place to visit.
Unfortunately I have nothing nice to write about this place - would not visit again. There were barely any patrons on a Fri night and perhaps they had an off night but the service was horrible - it seemed like no one was in charge. I expected much better from a fine dining restaurant. We ordered dishes but they never came, server brought wrong dishes to our table only to snatch it away moments later with no apology. Servers kept chatting amongst themselves rather than pay attention to us - we had 3 servers reminding us about last call rather than remove eaten dishes from the table. Ive been in the industry for a while and typically when theres a hiccup or a dish doesnt get fired you at least offer something to make it right.
Fantastic higher end Mexican food. Everything we had was good! Pibil and mole especially. Definitely order those!
Such a lovely birthday brunch! Thank you for always making the experience special at Kahlo!
