Overpriced food with little taste. Also don’t buy the torta unless you mean burger. That’s what I got. This place obviously caters to one specific ethnic group and it’s not Mexican. I ordered a torta and got a burger. When I asked the waitress, who’s Mexican, she said “I’m so sorry. We’re aware and have informed the owner who refuses to change the menu. You and I know [the waitress and me] that a torta is not a burger but there’s nothing we con do.” There was no suggestion to switch my order or attempt to give me a different meal. Sadly won’t be coming back.
Cute little hidden taco shop. Tastes like they make their own tomatillo sauce, very good either way.We tried the carnitas and the brisket. I asked for the mushroom carnitas but was brought the regular one, which was a little disappointing, but it was actually so good we came back a second time for the carnitas again. The brisket was fine, just not as flavorful.Staff is incredibly friendly, restaurant is very pretty. Food was good and reasonably priced. Husband had a michelada and was very happy.Definitely would go back.
Bad service. Bad food, you are better off in the taquitos of your nearest cheesecake factory. Overpriced. Don’t recommend.
Cute small little place. It can get pretty cramped since it is so small. Food was good but portions a little small. The kitchen is open so sometimes they’d burn something or it would get very smokey in the downstairs portion of the restaurant. It was hard to get the waitresses attention as she was the only waitress for the entire place and she was not the friendliest. They also charge for extra chips so beware of that.It was also a bit pricy, coming to $109 for two people (with tip) but overall good experience.
I visited this restaurant expecting an authentic Mexican cantina vibe, but it was quite the opposite. The uncleanliness and unpleasant odor were off-putting from the start. The service was lackluster, with disengaged staff that made the atmosphere feel heavy. Instead of feeling angry about the poor service, I left feeling sad for them.As for the food, it was disappointingly basic, tortillas, protein, and a bland sauce. If they can’t get the basics right, it’s a red flag.I won’t be returning and can’t recommend it. There are far better Mexican restaurants in the city that truly deliver.
Really disappointing. The flavours of both the Camaron taco and the bowl (Judy bowl, I think it’s called) hit the… meh! Feeling. They didn’t fill me up and I didn’t want to pay the prices for such food, so left to top up elsewhere.
Ordered the tortilla soup - was good but soup was only lukewarm and with far too many tortilla strips. It did not resemble the picture associated with this restaurant. Also ordered the fish ceviche. It was unclear what fish was in it and it was super vinegary compared to most ceviches I have enjoyed. Portions are super super small for what you pay. Very few people in here for lunch. Insufficient value to return.
This place looks great. It smells good, and the food must be good too, but we will never return. We went in with a young child who can get a bit picky with food. Yes we were going to let her try the other dishes too but we wanted one plain cheese quesadilla (which used to be on their menu the day before) as a safety. The chef refused. If your menu says that tacos are served as a quesadilla with cheese, you can definitely make one quesadilla with nothing but cheese in it. If that wasnt there, it wouldnt have irked me as much. Surely, you could have made it and charged us for one of the cheaper tacos. What are they going to do with people with dietary restrictions? Lack of flexibility thats not so far from whats already on their menu is ridiculous.
Their tacos were good. My favorite was the shrimp and ribeye. The pork one was okay. My friend thought the shrimp and fish were his favorite. Jamaica drink was a little too sweet.
The margaritas are very good here and the feel of the place is fun. They have outdoor seating as well. The food was fresh and fine, but nothing stood out. They have tacos and bowls too.
Had a wonderful meal here last night, our large group well looked after. Food and atmosphere felt authentic and fun.
Delicious food and drinks!! Agua de jamaica was perfect in taste. Not too watery. Guacamole and chips were great too! A bit spicy but tasteful. My friend ordered the brisket tacos and said it was a bit dry. But then again he didn’t put lime on it…Order the tostadas de cangrejo and shrimp tacos and thank me later 🦦
We had the pleasure to dine in today . The food was fantastic. 😋We ordered Quezadilla , tacos , Rice with corn . We enjoyed the food , the drinks and the excellent service . We are definitely come back and bring more people . WE LOVE IT !!! 😀
Yes its NYC so expect it to be expenisve if comparing to other places. However the food was very good. Staff were very friendly. A nice open kitchen, so you can see how clean everything is. Ive been here twice now for lunch. The shrimp tacos were beautiful and the second time I had a sandwhich washed down with a cold beer. It gets busy, and you can see why. Give it a go.
Rice was not cooked properly. Mean waitress. The waiter was nice but the lady behind the counter was rude when I asked for extra salsa. Not worth it at all
Really cute and authentic Mexican restaurant. The menu is small but its probably so that they can make everything to perfection. I ordered the tortilla soup and an elote which were both out of this world delicious. The soup was bigger than I imagined and loaded with smokey chicken, cheese, avocado, and tortilla chips. The elote was grilled ND seasoned to perfection. There was generous outdoor seating and I believe there was some indoor seating as well.
We just stopped in for drinks and our bartender was wonderful. The spicy daisy was definitely the favorite. I did the pepino Diablo and while it was super refreshing, I wouldn’t do it again. The cucumber muddled was too much in the drink itself
Probably the best tortilla I ever had. The coconut flan was delicious! Cozy place, great staff!
Great Mexican tacos, very tasty Mexican tortilla soup, great and strong drinks. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved it here
I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the pork belly tacos—each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wishing the tacos would never end! If you’re a fan of savory, succulent pork, these tacos are a must-try.To complement the tacos, I enjoyed a well-crafted michelada that perfectly balanced the meal. My only suggestion for the future would be to consider adding non-alcoholic beer to the menu for those of us who occasionally want a lighter option. The ambiance of the restaurant transported me straight into a scene from a classic Mexican movie. The vibrant decor, lively music, and warm atmosphere made me feel right at home. The friendly service added to the overall fantastic experience, with staff members who were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming.Overall, La Esquina is a gem. I can’t wait to return and indulge in those amazing pork belly tacos again!
What a great spot. Friendly and warm atmosphere. They certainly make you feel welcome. Defiantly would go back again
Good prices, amazing drinks and Mexican foodWe went to la esquina and it was a delicious time, yummy dishes with a convenient prices in heart of Manhattan, highly recommend to all who visit New York.
It was ok. Not the real mexican flavor. For me that I had been many times in Mexico is not the real flavor. It is more like Tex Mex flavor. But it was good!
Clean and friendly staff but the Service was pretty slow for a place that was almost empty. The beef tacos were really good, the chicken tacos were ok but the rice and beans were very bland.
The quintessential neighborhood good eat, hidden among a sea of restaurants tailoring to tourists and corporate folks. We felt like we were back in East Village or Brooklyn. Such humble exterior yet cozy and chic interior. The taco and torta were delicious. The fried chicken was juicy. The sopa was small ($16!) but tasty.Definitely will be back for the food and vibe.
I got the pescado tacos. You get two street style corn tortillas, the fish was fried perfectly. It came with slaw and some sort of green sauce that was very good. I also got the street corn, which is a whole cob cut in half-it was delicious, and we got the guacamole which was great.
Great margaritas and tacos. Being vegan it’s hard to find something so quick and delicious! Easy to accommodate my needs- great for a happy hour with friends
The staff is super friendly and I enjoy coming here on my lunch breaks or after work for happy hour. The tacos are amazing!
Not worth the money at all, I ordered a tuna tostada, it was very small, the plate in the picture is what they serve for tostada, that’s basically a plate for a side dish. And yes, the cabbage is not even on top of the tortilla. The food itself wasn’t that memorable either, too many thousand dressing and covered the tuna. I don’t think I’ll ever want to come back here.
Worst experience experience visiting bars in NYC. If you look like a Hispanic guy, be careful, waitress will ask you for tips before you sit down. Only if you look like hispanic person. Discrimination for being Hispanic? YES. The worst thing is that the waitress is hispanic too. By the way, margaritas is so good.
Great tacos - choose wisely!I come here for one taco only: the grilled beef 🐮with melted cheese. All the other tacos are ok. This one is perfection. The beef is grilled to order, warm corn🌽 tortillas, gooey cheese. I love the grilled fish 🐟tacos as well but the fish portion is tiny🐠! I also love the green salsa here that they sell in jars. This restaurants worse aspect is the physical layout. The tables/seats are oddly layed out in ways not conducive for group eating. Imagine eating inside a taco truck.
Great food but when during happy hour requested a margaritha for a second drink was suggested another margarita which apparantly was not on the menu. Without mentioning this to me, I had no idea. Whoppa charged 6 dollars more. Mentioned it but apparently I should have known about that it was not on the menu while was suggested to me. Very disappointed. Know it is only about 6 dollars, but New York is expensive enough nowadays
Wow! Wow! Wow! We had a recommendation to visit this place, it was hidden away on 55th Street, and it is a small place with a few seats. The food was amazing, i had a chicken quesadilla which looked small but I struggled to finish it, but as it was soo tasty I did! The food was so reasonably priced. Staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful.
The service and vibe was excellent! Drinks were amazing, they put time and effort into each cocktail. No draft beer though, only bottles/cans. Food was pretty good but you can find much better tacos in NYC.
Looks nice, but waiters took 30 min to take orders, even when empty early afternoon, and then didn’t have stuff on the menu.
Loved this place. The food, the Margaritas, and the service was awesome.
This was our first time here with my boyfriend. We asked if they had a happy hour and the server or hosts didnt even know. We sat at the bar and the bartender never said hi or something. We ordered 2 beers and we ask for a glass; they give me a hot glass. We ordered a guacamole and tortillas chips; it was horrible. We finished our drink. The bartender wasnt busy; he was just busy talking about video game and other stuff with what I think was his friend. He never came to ask us if everything was ok or if we want something else. This was my first and last time coming here.I just cannot recommend this place to anyone. The ambience is not good; space is tiny too:/ Honestly, they deserve 0 stars, but we are not allowed to give below 1.
Food excellent! All food was amazing but……They offer water and after eating and drinking all the water realize how dirty the bottle water was so disgusting
My wife and I wanted a burger, and we saw the word burgers written on the front of the restaurant. Once inside we were treated to the best burgers and service we had during our stay in New York. I had a cheese burger, and my wife had the buttermilk chicken burger. Both were superb. Nice, friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere made for a great late lunch. Would definitely recommend!
Small portions and the place is so small you smell like you ate in the kitchen and food was mediocre. Service was friendly and attentive. You can find much better.
I love this mexican place. Great tacos! And the elote is great!
Looking for a place to eat, I stopped by this restaurant at random and Im so glad I did. Service was friendly from the beginning and while small, it can accommodate groups and its also kid friendly with space to park a stroller and high chairs available. Food and drinks came out quick and everything was delicious. I agree with everyone that this is one of the best places for drinks. Nothing watered down here. I left totally satisfied and highly recommend this restaurant.
Great service, just a littlebit overpriced for the quality & quantity of food. Beef in the taco was dry and tasteless with a chunk of bone in it. Chips & salsa and the tequila selection is nice thogh!
Great food with friendly service.Great atmosphere as well. My wife and i both said this was the meal we enjoyed the most on our last trip.
Food was good! Drinks were great. Cute intimate spot, great for a date or convos.
The tacos and food in general were really bland - so far from authentic. The service was terrible, we waited so long to order and our server was very rude and did not come to check up on us until we were done and ready for the check. I would not recommend this place as there are better Mexican restaurants in the area.
We visit on New Year’s Eve, we all know that time of the year on NY gets super crazy. They were located near the hotel where we stayed. We went around 11pm the kitchen was closed but the bar was open. We stayed celebrated new years with them and it was just great. They gave complementary champagne and tequila shots, great music, super friendly. Definitely coming back. A great place to get some drinks and food.
Great food and waited for server to ask us how everything was but never happened so decided to leave instead of ordering more food and drinks.
Loved how on theme this restaurant was. The man who took our order was welcoming and extremely helpful. The menu above was in Spanish, so he handed us menus the gave a more in detail description of the items in English. My shrimp bowl was absolutely delicious. The shrimp had a nice char and were succulent and sweet. Everything tasted fresh. I wish my food was a wee bit hotter. I ordered the frozen fruit margarita which I also enjoyed. I should of gotten salt on the rim to counter balance the sourness. I would definitely go back again.
We came to NYC on a cold and rainy week with Tornado Ian causing a mess. We’ve been to this place last year with COVID and dine outside, great experience and decided to come back today, Tuesday 10-04-22. We sat at the counter, only counter seating for a couple. I ordered chicken tacos, they were OK and my wife ordered the shrimp tacos, she liked them along with guacamole and chips. Only difference this time was service, none at all, no water refill compare last time. I should have probably picked another Mexican restaurant down the street and not worry about the screw up weather.
Really fresh... good food and prices. Id pay more for bigger portions.
Cute place. We sat outside. It gets 3 stars because of the super slow serviceWe ordered a pitcher of margaritas and started with the elotes(grilled corn) it was good but I also wish it had more sauce on itThe corn came out way before our pitcher. The margaritas were good but weak. Usually tequila is not my friend. I barely got a buzz.My friend had the breakfast and shrimp tacosI had the carnitas and fish tacos. All the tacos were tasty however they fell apart easily because they were juicy and they only each had 1 soft tortilla shell. A lot of taco places usually double up to prevent from falling apart.I managed to eat the fish taco while it was still in tact. By the time I got to the carnitas taco it was already soggy and fell apart as I tried to eat it. I requested utensils so I could finish eating the remains on my plate but the guy completely forgot to bring them and I had to remind him after not seeing him for 20 minutes. After reminding him, he still took awhileThis guy barely checked on us and we hardly saw him to even flag him down
The place is small but very cozy, loved the decoration!! We had chicken, carnitas and the rib eye tacos and they were all delicious! A plus for me is that the tacos come in corn tortillas!! The prices start at $3.75 per taco. We also had the guacamole, not my favorite, I have had better. Overall totally recommend this place! They have happy hour from 5 to 8 pm every day.
Inexpensive! I hate to mention this first but in this neighborhood its almost impossible to find reasonably priced food. Now ti the important part: Delicious tacos, rice and beans. Everything looked great. I will be back to try more. They make everything to order so my friend who hates cilantro got exactly what she wanted. Grab a Mexican Coke to taste what Coke tasted like before high fructose corn syrup. This is a cute hole in the wall type place, looks like its been transplanted from somewhere else. Wish they had more seating but turnover is quick and there are tables you can stand at if there are no seats available. Totally worth it. Dont be intimidated by the setup of the place. Step up and order. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is a gem of a place. Go now. You wont be disappointed and neither will your wallet.
My 4 takeout tacos were somewhat tasty — underwhelming and messy overall. Fish taco featured one misery lump of protein and the the shrimp taco had two shrimp. Nice garnishes! The chicken and carnitas tacos were average in taste and size. All the tacos came with only one flour tortilla, which made everything a mess and difficult to enjoy as one would a taco.
This is the best Mexican food I have tasted outside of Mexico. Yes the food is small for the price but the quality makes up for this. The drink are on point and the decor reminded me of being in Mexico. This place is worth a visit if you are in the area. It looks like a lot of local Hispanic people go here so it must be good. Enjoy guys.
Very nice. Good food. Recomend it. Brought big family age 6 to 80 everyone loved it. Could be a little more spicy. The portions where too big so we got leftovers and gave it to homeless people on the way home :)
Delicious food, decent prices and friendly service. What more could you ask for in NY? Both of our meals were really tasty. A bowl with fish and shrimp tacos. I would order them again and again.
I really enjoyed the taco. The drinks was okay, but not necessarily my favourite. It was reasonably priced for the location and food quality.
Fun semi fast food Mexican joint, cousin of the one on UES. Good tacos, nice quesadilla with huitlacoche, a Mexican mushroom you dont often see. Very nice staff.. they pretty much take the order and disappear till its ready. Street is very noisy for outdoor dining but the interior is very open and airy. Good midtown in-a-rush choice
The guacamole was out of this world, super tasty, but sadly that was all the nice things I can say about this place. We had several different tacos, but we couldnt make out any different flavours from them = they all tasted more or less the same. No spiciness nor anything else fun.
Food tastes great, prices were reasonable and was a nice overall vibe. Mezcal was also smoky and delicious.
Had shrimp and carnitas tacos, tamarind drink, chicken quesadilla and rice pudding. Everything was delicious and we had a quick meal before our show.
Came here for the first time while being out with my boyfriend. I was surprised at how good this place is!! Definitely will come back. Its got some cool chill vibes.
The food and drinks were both great although I wouldve liked to get them in stages rather than all together, ie, appetizer first followed by main course.
Dont come here expecting Tex-mex this is closer to elevated street style Mexican food. Very casual, no waiter service ,as befits its theme, with decor to match. I thought it was great though pricier than I prefer for what it is. The food quality though is good and if the portions were bigger Id have gone with 5 stars all the way. Order an extra taco or chips or youll be walking away just slightly less than full. Definetly a chill spot to sit and worth trying.
No difference between pollo adobado and rostizado. Order a marg, got two. Ordered a torta, got a taco (which they did comp). Guac is $15 for a soup cup amount so we passed. Please skip this place and eat street food.
I was hesitant to try this restaurant due to the numerous negative reviews, but my boyfriend wanted tacos, and since we were nearby, we decided to give it a shot. It turned out to be a huge mistake, and I regretted the $80 plus I spent. The service was disappointing, the food was just average, and the overall atmosphere felt dated and unclean. I couldnt even finish my meal. I won’t be returning.
For real Mexican food lovers this place is NOT for you. Came here really exited thinking that I would be eating in a warm, cozy home made meal restaurant instead it was one of the worst overpriced fast food experience ever. Prob Taco Bell would have taste better… a Ridiculous small Carnitas “platter” ($20) with very dry meat and weird “salad” on the side that we couldn’t eat after two bites… a “pitcher” of Mezcalita ($42) mostly full of ice and you couldn’t have tree drinks out of it… guac and chips prob same as buying it from the counter on Rite Aide… Very disappointed!!
Bartender needs to go back to bartending school! We went to Bingo at Nordstrom bistro verde before and the margs were better than here- don’t put orange juice in a margarita!!! That’s sacrilege!!! Disappointing!!!
Although there are many restaurants/dinners on Manhattan that sell or offers Mexican food, with a large space inside with fancy looks, must of them miss something important.Must of those places fail when it comes to flavor, but La Esquina... despite the small place, the taste in their dishes are on point!Highly recommend if you are looking for real Mexican taste! Youll be amaze by its decorations and great vibes!
Its good. The margaritas are reasonably priced given their location. I always get the rice and bean bowl. Filling, fresh, and flavorful. Theres a decent amount of outdoor dining as well.
I used to like stopping here for a bite and a drink, on the way home. But its gone waaaaay down hill. They are often out of the bar products and liquors for the cocktails, which are not good to begin with. The bar seats are all broken and might be the worst in nyc if not the world, they are made for a child. The outdoor seating looks like a homeless camp and has a rat population of a subway line. To top it off the new chef took off the best selling/tasting taco, the breakfast taco and has turned the pork carnitas into a piece of pork jerkey with no pineapple. Skip this place its probably going to close soon.
Delicious food, tasty drinks & friendly staff!
The food was good, but the service was definitely lacking. When we came in, the hostess immediately expected us to know what we wanted to eat even though the menu doesnt list most of the ingredients. She seemed annoyed that we wanted further clarification and eventually forked over menus. We ordered our food, got our drinks, and she was clearly waiting for us to walk away from the register before she opened the bottle with the bottle opener that she had. After we got the bottles open, we waited for our food. When we tried to get a spicy salsa, I asked if there was something other than the manufactured sauce and she told me to go to someone elses table and grab one if I wanted it. I guess it is too much to ask the staff to clean up the tables that they are responsible for cleaning (and bring shared supplies to the front) or to do anything other than play with her nails or her phone. With the prices they charge, I am sure it should be no skin off their backs to do it.
The tacos were delicious I got carnitas and barbacoa, cute small space with outdoor counter top and stools. Beers are between$4-6 dollars. Only downside was $4.50 for one taco. Its decently filled and delicious so Id come again for sure.
Great vibes. Great playlist. Fresh ingredients. Fairly priced. Cute outdoor seating. If my partner had it his way we would of had all our meals there while in NYC.
Prompt service…simple menu and yummy tacos. Also the decor is super cute with a old school vibe.
Delicious tacos and well priced sides. The margaritas are also tasty. Staff was really nice and the manager made us feel welcome
The service and food were excellent. Really cozy, chill vibe - nice break from the boring restaurants around that area.
Good food. Prices reasonable for quick lunch and even a beer, if back to work is not part of your day. Food is served up fast and you seat yourself so grabbing a table before joining the service line is advisable if with friends. Busy place for lunch hour with counter seating and table seating.
A hidden gem of Midtown. The food is excellent, authentic and prepared very fast. They had a DJ playing music, and that made a great deal of cool ambience.
Came on a Sunday afternoon. Not busy at all. Food was average, chicken tacos were dry and tortillas were soggy. Corn cob was good though.
Delicious, authentic Mexican - like the tacos you get in Mexico City. The corn tortillas were not at all dry or brittle like one reviewer had said. Good music, friendly cashier.
The menu focuses on authentic Mexican street food with an emphasis on bold flavors and simple ingredients. Standout items include the quesadilla fundida and elotes (Mexican street corn). The food is served quickly, making it ideal for those looking for an efficient dining experience.La Esquina on 55th Street delivers an authentic street food experience in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. With its flavorful menu, casual atmosphere, and attentive service, it’s a great spot for those looking to enjoy quality Mexican street food. The casual vibe and reasonable prices make it a popular choice for a casual meal or a quick bite.
Food was good although a bit pricey for what you get. I had the fish and shrimp tacos, guacamole & salsa, and a margarita. I enjoyed everything, Id recommend it for sure.
10.19.17 - I had the leftovers from a late night at the office food order. It held up well and the corn was still flavorful, and succulent. The quac was also done well, but I wish it had chunks of avocado to chew. The corn chips were crispy and tasted fresh. I also had the chicken quesadilla.
I ordered the enfrijoladas and they were served with a lot of frijoles but only 2 tortillas... too little food for the price tbh... not coming back.
2.5 stars:Ordered some tacos to share, and $11.50 felt high for two small tacos. The barbacoa taco was tough and dry without much flavour, and the chicken taco didnt have much flavour either. The shrimp taco was good though. The three tacos were not filling enough, and for ~$22 after tax and automatic 20% tip, it was definitely not worth it
I went here for a quick bite on a Wednesday evening and it was moderately crowded but manageable as I was able to find a seat. I got the pascado and barbacoa tacos and they were both very delicious! I also got their house margarita which was also pretty good. The price for the tacos were moderately priced, ranging from $4-5 per tacos. The staff was very pleasant and friendly and the service was fast! I enjoyed my visit here very much! Would go back when I’m in the area!
As a mexican i would say the food sucks the pepito torta is like a philly cheese steakThe guacamole is good but i wish it had chuncks of avacado. The quesadillas are small and doesnt taste authentic. Tulcingo in 50st and 10av is much better. If u want real mexican food dont come here.
Without the ambiance of sister restaurants, this midtown haunt is merely overpriced Mexican food. Staff is friendly but the chips are stale. Failed to impress on my last two visits -it’s the epitome of disappointment.
Exceptional food. Fast and friendly service. Solid spot.
Chorizo quasidilas and chicken tacos were really good. Steak tacos were insanely hot (spicy) and we loved it! Great atmosphere! Didnt like the guacamole. Some sour cream and salsa for the quasidilas would have made it perfect.
Very Casual restaurant good for a quick bite. you go up to cashier, place order and pay, wait for your food and get yourself a table. Unbelievable delicious goat tacos. Margaritas sort of overpriced
Loved the tacos with pork and beef, echiladas were a litlle bit dissapointing, quite bland.
Real tacos, glad some seats available, a bit pricey.
Came in for a quick bite on a Wednesday night before a show. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered two Barbacoa tacos. They were very good but the portion size is small. One taco for $4.50. I asked when I ordered so I knew what I was getting. The margarita also tasted good but alcohol was barely notable. Atmosphere was good. Lots of counter space and a few tables. Bathroom was clean. No parking. Handicap and wheelchair accessible entrance. Credit, debit, and cash accepted.
Fair food. Service was poor. Never got our drinks after asking for them a second time. Not good options for kids. Quesadilla/tacos are small portions
It was so impressive tacos! That was best tacos in my life!
Very good Mexican food. In the middle of the city so it’s a little expensive but not too bad. Great place for a quick bite with friendly staff.
Ive been thinking about the tacos since I ate em. I want to go back to try more food. Ah-maz-ing taste.
Always happy here. Great tacos, and a big fan of the breakfast tacos especially. Love this place for a quick bite any time of day.
Great tacos, just superb. A tad pricey but I mean hey youre Dt NY, what do you expect. Super friendly and accommodating staff as well.
My father in law and I had dinner together here during my layover for a flight. The service was prompt and we had water and chips, ordered with guacamole and salsa, on the table in short order. I had four tacos and the rice and bean side. The tacos were killer. I had two shrimp, one steak, and one pulled pork. Very satisfied with my choice. The rice and beans were hot and well prepared. Definitely worth a stop if you are looking for good tacos.
I didnt really like it. The shrimp in my tacos wasnt warm/hot, and it looked like there was grime underneath the cap of the water bottle.
Great service! Sat down and received food quickly. Shrimp tacos were delicious. Liked the passion fruit cocktail (forgot the name) but would prefer without a salt rim
Very bad food and expensive, I don’t recommend this place !
Nice little Mexican gem, loved the shrimp 🌮 Tacos, cool vibe. Will come again if I am in the area.
The atmosphere was nice and it’s a cute spot. The bistec con queso tacos and horchata were great and it’s a short walk from Central Park.
The tacos were a bit small but tasty the chips and guac - chips were hard and flavorless along with the guac which seemed to be just smashed avocado I added the salsa to it just to give it flavor... Burger was exceptionally good!
Ordered to go, the tacos and drink were so good :)
This is a solid place with good food and drinks. They make this guacamole thats so simple but also so delicious 😩 i love coming here
Cute place with excellent dishes 👌. Ill go again next time in great NYC.
Tacos tacos tacos! In order of amazing - barbacoa, fish and carnitas. Guacamole is good but not sure if its worth $8.
The elote is dry and the quesadillas are messy. The portion are small for the price point but all the flavors are spot on.
Súper cozy little place, loved the decor, and the service was 💯- Stefanie was the BEST ever. Super nice, attentive and fun! Also made us some great drinks. Definitely recommended :)
They seem to have given up on their high quality standards. Maybe theyll turn things around but the last couple of trips have been exercises in Mexican food mediocrity.
Honestly, while the food is amazing and the ambiance reminds you of a lively taco truck, they could use some improvements in the ordering department. For example, I asked if I could get a bowl with two types of proteins. They said yes, and gave me one bowl with a separate protein on the side and charged me a lot more to do that. The sign for the price of bowls is misleading - it says $7.25, but then there is a little star that says protein is extra. How much extra? Well youll only know after asking the person taking your order. Its inefficient and costs additional time.In addition, I wanted to order chips and guac, and the total came out to $25, which is far more than your average lunch bill of $10-12. In most established franchises, the server notifies the patron when avocado is significantly extra, for example. The server also didnt bother to tell me that there is avocado in the bowl already. Theres no description of ingredients on their sign. It feels more like a shady taco truck than an established NYC franchise where people can quickly get in and get out, which is what New Yorkers want. It took me over ten minutes to get my food, which makes it just not worth going to very often. They only had three employees from what I can see, and they really should have a fourth. They could also use a number system for the tickets, especially since theres a constant cultural clash on peoples names. On the positive side, the food is absolutely great. The proteins are fantastic, and its incredibly authentic. They mix some tequila based drinks there too, but be prepared to spend, and be prepared to wait.
Overall very disappointing . Find another place to wine and dine if you can.
I accidentally stumbled across this place walking to another restaurant and had to get tacos. Not only are their tacos delicious buut their salsa and chips, and their margaritas are!
I went to the one on Kenmare, Food was delicious! Beware tho, A bit overpriced! Serving in small portions! Gonna keep going to Brooklyn for my tacos!
Sadly disappointed with this place, and we had such high hopes. They overcharged us by 2 Tacos, which was $9...then, the food was lukewarm and the barbacoa is quite possibly the worst barbacoa I’ve ever had. Try somewhere else
This is the perfect little place close to Times Square to grab a quick bite. Not busy, really cute atmosphere, and delicious authentic food. Very nice service as well.
Good place to eat. The service was excellent and the food was super delicious and of course the alcoholic drinks excellent . Don’t let the front of the Restaurant fool you just go in and find out. 👍👍👍
Phenomenal shrimp tacos, legit elote, with a relaxed (but still fun) atmosphere that makes you come back for more
Great little gem for mexican food. tacos are very good there and they serve beer also. win/win
The best tacos in NYC! Guacamole is also a must!! Perfect for a quick bite or a proper meal!!
Delicious and authentic. Small menu and moderately noisy. Food is worth it.
Had the steak tacos to go with green sauce and cheese. 10/10 also friendly ordering experience
Tasty food, cool vibe, but portions år om the smaller side.
I think this restaurant discriminate customers.Few days ago, I visited here about 2pm. There were only two to three tables with customers. After I sat there for 10 minutes, a waitress got me a cup of water and she said she was going to right back but she never showed up. Then a young lady, who looked like manager(?) Was standing at entrance door and watched at me briefly then went inside.I sat there about 15 to 20 minutes, nobody showed up. I surprised that this kind of place exist in the middle of Manhattan in year 2021.God bless them !!!!!
Good food, terrible service. Very authentic
Its a good place for guacamole or chicken bowl. Tacos also good. Not compared to Los Tacos no 1
Great food and ambiance. The Elote Callejero will straight smack you in the face with flavor. Its great.
Amazing food! Loved every bit of the place and staff. 100% recommended
Good food, prices are also ok. Friendly service
Good food, just a bit pricey. But its Midtown. A little expected considering the area. GREAT micheladas.
Great outdoor seating, super friendly staff and delicious margaritas and guac!!
Chill vibe, amazing food. The carnitas tacos were so juicy!
Went 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and I was so surprised by the quality and the affordable drinks. The barbacoa taco is legit.
Guac was good, Ritas were good, steak was more of a steak-um than rib eye!
Food was absolutely amazing and there was no wait at all. Love the atmosphere and would totally come again!
Very limited menu .. the food taste kinda good but no really what I expected
Horrible attitude very rude one of the ladies calls everybody Love but is rude as hell! the other one wiyh dark skin is also very rude to the customers she has no patience when people ordering, I totally NOT recomend you this place
I was pleasantly surprised, a bit small in size but big in flavor and the agua de Jamaica was on point!
Had the tortilla soup and bistec tacos! 5/5
The food is very good and the atmosphere is very authentic Mexican. I would rate it higher if not for two major complaints. The prices and portion sizes are out of whack. The price averages $4.50 for a taco, and it is bite sized. It taste pretty damned good, but youll never satisfy even a childs appetite. For a tiny taco, pre-packaged tortillas, salsa, and a can of coke, my bill was over $11. I know its Manhattan and that rents are incredibly high, but for the money you should get more.
Food was really good got the pork and shrimp rice bowl ,the food was hot and fresh , and a juice $22.00 its a little pricey and the portion was just enough to get me over the hump. But this is NYC
The food is excellent
Would surely recommend trying this place. Great ambience, delicious dishes, good customer service. Keep it up.
Fast service. Tacos were ok. Avoid the business crowd by going around 11:00 a.m.
Maybe its because I can from Texas but these tacos are trash. Great presentation but the less flavorful meat I have ever had. It was impressive how flavorless the meat is. I honestly had not idea you could do that. Servers are nice though.
Great corn tortilla quesadillas, a little pricey, but a great experience nonetheless!
As a lover of Mexican food this was ok at best. I tried the beef, chicken, and pork. All tasted pre-made and packaged. All of it was over-seasoned, salty and too much lime. The Moros and Christianos was the best thing I tried. Black beans and rice mixed with some corn and top with pico and queso fresco. I had the horchata as well, with was watery and lacked the cinnamon flavour authentic horchata can have. Price was well pricey but then it is Manhattan.
Food is great. Staff is friendly. Just a little too expensive for the portion.
Delivered food to wrong hotel. Then hung up on me when I asked them to correct their mistake.
Good small place with breakfast, drinks and finger food options which isnt heavy on pockets. Not much of the sitting is available. Ordered Vegetable Quesadilla which didnt disappoint. Loved the Horchata!
I have been to a lot of taco spots but this is the best tacos I had so far !!
One of the few NYC places that does tacos close to legit. Good service, good salsa and horchata.
The prices are overrated, I tried torta de barbacoa and was not so good, the elote callejero is good.
Good quality Mexican food with a small budget. Very fast service.
Cute little restaurant with an encharming atmosphera. Amazing waiters, service and authentic food.We Absolutely recommend it. It is also close to important locations.
Great spot tacos are tasty and the decor is awesome and inviting. A must visit for tourists!
Love this hidden gem. Friendly and great authentic Mexican food. Convenient location.
Food was delicious. Simple place with great food and drinks.
Good food in a superb location, in the heart of Times Square.... A bit expensive but still ok.
Great food! Fast service and friendly staff. Okay drinks.
Excellent tacos, great value and great spot!
Food is mediocre but its convenient to several theatres and the service is quick.
Love La Esquina! Great vibe and great drinks! Definitely try the pork belly tacos
Delicious food, it tasted like homemade food. Great customer service
We went in as a party of 8. Two people came up to us to let us know they were taking care of us which we thought great! We ordered our drinks one of us got the pepino Diablo but we told them no jalapeños still ended with jalapeño. Don’t even get me started on how we sat there for like 20-40 minutes extra to order because all they didn’t come back to get our food order. The guy actually left the restaurant after giving us our drinks. Took about an hour to get our food. My niece that’s a toddler wanted the elote callejero and we said no tajin guess what we still got it with tajin and then they didn’t even get us a new one they just scraped it off the top. The lady kept going back and forth asking if one of the dishes wanted pico de gallo. Was told they put pico de gallo so we had to wait for that plate to come out. We ordered a tea and then she couldn’t make it because they don’t have a pot but still was charged for it. ALSO ONLY ONE COOK! Worst experience of my life. When it came to pay the waitress couldn’t do simple math so she had to get her “manager”. Had to use the bathroom right afterwards and to be frank my stomach still hurts.
The service in the atmosphere is truly great. The food was nothing to be telling folks about. Portion size are definitely smaller which is a good thing. One of those places you could just say. Eh.
Awesome food, small bites
Excellent street Mexican food. My 8 year old daughter raves about it and wants to come back.
I had an amazing experience at La Esquina in Midtown! The food was absolutely delicious, and the margaritas were top-notch. The vibe of the restaurant was fantastic, creating the perfect atmosphere for a chill dinner.
The elote was very good! Highly recommend.
Very horrible customer service was no one one restaurant was at the bar for over 10 min no one came to take my order better places in the area to spend your money..
Best soup ever!!!!!!! December 2020
Very poor service. The food was mediocre and way over priced for the small portions.
A very good place to go to eat and taste Mexican food, order carnitas !
Very little food at a very expensive price! Do not recommend
The food isn’t very good and the service is slow.
Great food for a quick lunch in Midtown. The staff is very friendly
Get quick food great service and atmosphere
Great new find in midtown! Need to go back to try more of menu. A good Happy Hour!
LA Esquina? It should be called La Basura. The food is SO BLAND. Ive been to Mexico, so I know what authentic tacos taste like, and this is far from that. Its like the cooks are paid to NOT season the food. The atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant are somewhat nice, but when the staff are brain dead and have no clue on customer service, it makes the whole experience feel terrible. We had to call our waiter over several times for basic things, like a refill of water. If Im going out with my best friend, Im expecting a crazy good time. Instead I had the biggest vibe killer of my life. STAY AWAY!
Small space with inexpensive quality tacos, drinks, etc
Went off the grid and ordered a squash flower quesadilla...so delicious. Jalapeño margarita had just the right amount of heat and sweet.
This place is really cute! I found it when I was looking for a hot soup and we ended up in a very unic place, it was a little bummer when I got in and the place was completely empty and the first question was do you have a reservation? Well...I really needed the hot soup so I just ignored that...they gentlemen had a little attitude with our table but the lady was really nice. Anyway, food was good and the place is very pretty.
A little gem! Simple authentic cuisine. Very well prepared food and extremely attentive staff. Would highly recommend!
Amazing food and very kind and attentive service.
Bad service
WHERE✨🌮This little hole in the wall I found while walking in a very hangry state in Little Italy.WHAT I ATE✨🌮Okay… this isn’t that picturesque of a place and the food wasn’t the best if you’re a vegan. The only option I found on the menu was the avocado tacos and they weren’t fried or anything, it was literally just avocado slices slapped into a corn tortilla. Street size. They were also expensive, I think I payed $4 per taco so I only got two 😂 No vegan options but if you’re an enjoyer of all foods then they had way more options! I definitely was hungry afterwards… So unless you’re willing to spend a ridiculous amount for a street taco and still be left hungry… I don’t recommend.
Short rib taco, shrimp and mushroom tacos. Delicious.
Food was on point, homemade. No beers tho, only cocktails 😕
Great food with gluten free dairy free options!
I came in here prior to a Broadway show for a quick meal. I sat at the bar and picked a juice and dish off the menu. The meal comes out, and its the wrong one. I tell the staff and they start sending it back and claim their mistake. Because I have to make it to my show on time, I consider taking the wrong meal but before I do, I ask the bartender whether or not the dish is spicy and if it has jalapenos as Im not able to eat spicy food due to health issues. He says no 3 separate times and I decide to keep the meal (I hate food waste). Lo and behold, its spicy and has jalapenos in it. I had to switch dishes with my partner. As we are paying our bill, the bartender sneezes into his hands and keeps going on about his business. Really gross.
