This place executes punk tiki-bar in the best way. The vibes and decor are so fun. Fun tiki drinks, and if you want, you can take home the glasses home for only $7.My only one complaint about this place is that seating is a bit limited, but the space between the bar and seating is so narrow, that its a bit awkward to stand. But because theres no cover, its always worth popping in to see if theres a place to sit.

I love having a tiki bar close to home; the drinks are excellent, though pricey. It is a tiki dive bar, and the soundtrack is hard rock, which wouldnt be my first choice. When we were there, there was a rock band playing in the back room (with no noise cancellation) and a DJ playing different rock music in the main room, and it was a cacophony of noise.

His is one of few places in New York which still offering a live music and gives opportunity to young musicians to show themselves. And visitors can see how music is developing nowadays. Besides you can have great cocktails, beer and wine in this place, which is very nicely decorated. Every time we come here we enjoy a lot. Thanks to the old school bars! Unfortunately this type of places getting less and less in NYC

Great Lower East Side bar and music venue with a chintzy tiki theme (I mean that in a loving way haha). Id seen many bands I follow played shows here, but I just decided to stop in for a couple drinks on Halloween 2023. It was a good time and Id definitely go back. The Naughty Nell specialty cocktail is tasty and is great for jump-starting or quickly ending a night out. They serve food from the Asian dumpling place next door, it seems. Smelled awesome, but I didnt order any. Maybe next time!

One of my favorite places to be in nyc-they know how to pour their punch of liquor in the drinks, the right amount of griminess in the vibe and the music, and the bartender with flower on her head always comes with a smile when she serves the drinks, and is always there on a Friday night, with funky guitars, loud basses, and shrunken head. You got it, me writing a google review at 10:54 PM after 2 tiki drinks and one more volcano to share in spirit:)

Have been here a few times in the past (not for a few years) and came here to celebrate New Year’s Eve and had a blast. The place consistently has an awesome vibe thanks to the great staff, DJs and live bands. The Tiki drinks are amazing which is why this place is loved. This isn’t a hole you come to drown your sorrows- you come here to celebrate and have a great time.

Stumbled upon this New York tiki dive bar, and boy, did it feel like uncovering a hidden world. The mix of oddball decor and an even odder mix of patrons was oddly charming. The drinks? None of that watered-down stuff – these were bold concoctions that could shake anyone out of their comfort zone. The tunes? A perfect kind of weird that had everyone grooving. If youre after an offbeat night that doesnt toe the line, give this joint a shot.

The drink were pretty good, but to be honest, for a tiki bar was a bit disappointed in some of the rail ingredients used. That being said the drink prices were not outrageous. After walking by several times, mistaking it for a voodoo place, I finally realized it is a tiki bar. It looks dark and creepy from outside. Well, inside it is still dark and creepy but there is live band and a busy bar vibe. They charge $15 for a cocktail, $5 for the creative mug. You can return the mug back for the $5 back or keep it. I tried the Shrunken Skirt, which is a rum with pineapple juice, mango juice and lime. It is sweet and tropical. The mug is a sexy Hawaiian hula girl shape. There is no way I can reject the mug!The live band plays some classy rock music from back in the days and I really enjoy the music and drinks here. The only weird thing is there are a lot of older folks hanging out here.Overall, it is a cute place to hang, listening to solid live band, delicious libation and people watching.

Cant say enough good things about this bar. Its close to the subway, and several paid parking options. The atmosphere is unadulterated tiki, with tacky paintings of nude women, weird art and retro vibes. The simple but effective sound system in the quaint back room for live music did the job well. Drinks were very fairly priced for a NYC watering hole. We got there earlier in the afternoon before the club got busy and the bartenders were as friendly as they were fetching. As the bar filled up later, they kept up the same prompt service while remaining courteous. We ordered the chicken skewers and dumplings to help take the edge off the strong drinks and were surprised at how delicious the food was. The icing on the cake being the Subway to Skaville show that happens on the first Friday of every month. DJ Ryan Midnight hosts local and touring ska bands for an evening of fun, raucous, upbeat music. Ottos will be a NYC staple for us on every visit.

Fun bar! Great adherence to theme. Specialty drinks are a bit pricy but tasty and they dont skimp on the alcohol. I got mine in a fun tiki glass cause Im a sucker for novelty drinkware. If youre coming for live music, its stuck in a small room in the back, and you cant hear much of anything up near the bar. One of my top five bars in NYC. The music is really awesome, the regulars are trve, theres events there all the time and a stage area for live music and events. Beforewarned the place is pretty narrow and has booth seats. It can get pretty crowded quick. If youre familiar with Rudys in HK, youll know what I mean.Dont sleep on the tiki drinks. Fun, rockabilly-meets-surf shack vibe. I know that tiki drinks have a lot of ingredients, but $14+ for a cocktail (even in NYC) is a little steep.Blasting music is fun, but renders conversation ineffective often, especially if its a live music vs. jukebox battle night.

Our band had a show here last night with our good friends who also played as well. Upon immediately entering the lounge, we were hoarded by two individuals asking for ID. The bartender, a red headed woman, was extremely disrespectful and not very courteous at all (Throughout the entire night). She asked us for our ID several times. I understand the strictness due to laws being enforced by the police, but she did so in a way that was not really necessary. She reprimanded my guitar player for bringing in his cabinet (which she claimed was too large) and said so in the most immature and inane way possible. The website clearly states that bands are welcome to bring their own gear. They also state that space is limited. Our top complaint with these guys is that they CONSTANTLY told us to turn down. If the booking manager or anyone else affiliated with Ottos reads this, LEARN TO LISTEN, ANALYZE, AND DRAW A CONCLUSION. Do NOT book bands that play loud music. They were very rude in this regard so please, do NOT play here if you are a loud band. These people need to learn a thing or two about respect. I am very happy that I did not tip the bartender. She was the absolute WORST! Will never go here again.

Ottos Shrunken Head is one of the coolest dive bars Ive been to. First of all its chill and unpretentious. Ottos is the only place in NYC that makes a proper Zombie. Thats both a complement, and a warning.

I feel bad because I really wanted to like this place, and it seemed like maybe the bar was understaffed during my visit. My experience just honestly wasnt great. Was only able to order one drink over the course of about a 2 hour visit-- while sitting at the bar! The drink itself was fairly weak for the price (and for a place that bills itself as a tiki bar). It also took no less than 20 minutes to close out my check because the bartender would take and prepare orders every time they promised me it would be just a second then forget about me.Again, it felt like maybe an off night, and Id be willing to give the place another chance.

Tiki bar, decent atmosphere could use a cleaning though. Bartender was uninviting and owner/ manager was busy talking to friends to provide service. No big selection of rums like other Tiki bars

Chicken skewers had a lovely Asian inspired taste. The drinks were tropical enough to fit the vibe, and the service was friendly. The live music was kinda blah though. Maybe a better band on a different night. I wouldnt mind coming back overall.

The drinks are so worth the money. Reasonable prices on beverages and good deals on souvenirs. The service is a little lacking, but the drinks are well worth the wait. I dont mind spending $20 on the beverage thats loaded with about $15 worth of liquor and I get to go home with a nice mug. Definitely worth it. I will be back.
