The meats were very well grilled, pink and juicy. The salads lacked flavour and the lavash seemed dried out.I would go back only for the mixed grill plate of meat.
Excellent food and ambience however has a weird practice of mandating order for apps and main course to be put in at the same time.
Very cool place right around the corner of Grand Central. Pretty big sized compared to the NY standards, so the noise is low and allows a normal conversation without yelling at the other people 😁Interesting Mediterranean style food. During happy hour you can get a drink and a choice of two small appetizers for $24.
I was a guest at a very enjoyable business lunch here yesterday. And just now reading a note from the owners I was intrigued that a differentiator about Pera is its Turkish connection. I spent a week many years ago in southern Turkey and just fell in love with it, its people and the cuisine. It is a beautifully laid out restaurant and the service was pleasant. I enjoyed the meze sampler we had as appetizers and the flavors seemed to have a spin on them making them different from many of the kind of vanilla Med restaurants in town. I had a really good seared Scottish salmon over risotto and enjoyed how perfect it was---at least to my taste---crunchy, flavorful, surface, tender, juicy in between (see photo).
We really enjoyed this neighborhood favorite. The desserts blew us away. We can recommend the seafood cake, the gnocchi, and the meze sampler. Server could have been more attentive, but the chef was very present at the table when food was presented; nice.
Absolutely delicious-probably the best lamp I’ve ever had. Prices are not bad and service and ambience was excellent.I went on a work lunch and everyone loved their order.
Update 2/16/23...I had another great experience at Pera! My server Ionela was awesome, super helpful, friendly and professional. The food once again was extremely delicious! The Octopus, humas and lamb were outstanding. As for the dessert, the baklava amazing! I will keep coming back!__________________________________I have eaten at Pera quite a few times over the years and have enjoyed it every time. The food is outstanding and the space is beautiful. The staff are very good as well. Our waiter Edwin was fantastic! The Octopus, Lamb, Portuguese Calamari, Seafood Cake. Humas Dips were all absolutely delicious! It is a special place and I cant wait to return.
Had a good time with friends and the food was good, but both food and drinks were expensive. The food was good but it tasted like it was cooked at a diner and the service could have been better. There were times our party didnt have anyone coming to our table to assist us.
Pera is spacious and service was great. Giving it four stars because I visited the restaurant during NY restaurant and was disappointed with the amount/quality of food I received for $39. It was simply okay and I wouldnt recommend going there for restaurant week. However, the restaurant week menu was limited and I cant speak on the quality of the rest of the menu.
Had the BEST Christmas Eve dinner here with family visiting from Texas. It was their first time coming to NYC and this was exactly what we all needed. This restaurant was simply exquisite, offering a wonderful prix fixe menu with wine pairing that left us all very impressed. Romantic and private ambiance followed by wonderful dinner service and very delicious food. Highly recommend.
I went after seeing other peoples reviews, but it wasnt a good place to recommend. The service was too slow even after one oclock, and no one cared. I really liked the sparkling water I ordered here.
Three of us dined on 28 th sept excellent mese platter and main courses, great wine ,very efficient and courteous service.Avoid the baklava,it is really not up to mark. All else great.would definitely come back again. And a bing thanks to the staff to make our evening memorable.
BEST KEBAB IN THE UNIVERSE! Juicy, well seasoned, really just the best and I consider myself a kebab conisseour. But the maroul salad is grossly over-priced, its comical! Its literally some chopped romaine with dill, it tastes ok but nowhere near justifies its price. Also grand bazaar was delightful.
Came here while staying at the library hotel and enjoyed a lovely Saturday brunch meal on the patio. Ordered the hummus, village salad, and “steak” frites, all excellent, flavorful, perfectly seasoned and great portions. One of the best village salads I’ve had outside of greece. Great friendly service. Highly recommend.
The entres were fantastic, especially the chicken shashlik which was juicy and flavorful. The bulgar pilaf it was served on was also delicious. The salmon was lovely, especially with the sumac and preserved lemon flavors. The appetizers left something to be desired (the calamari wasnt crispy nor particularly memorable), but the service was great and the interesting wine list brought tastes of Turkey and Santorini to this delightful dinner.
I brought my partner and I here for Valentine’s Day. The food and wine were exceptional. The service made me feel welcome. It was a perfect date night. The place has a very nice atmosphere to it and I really enjoyed the experience. The lamb and Phyllo Rolls were SO GOOD!!! It’s also very conveniently located. Definitely recommend. Definitely will be returning.
A wonderful restaurant serving great food I highly recommend the dates stuffed with feta..Service was good and the ambience perfect
Nice Mediterranean place with traditional Turkish food. Long wine list. Thanks
Delicious food, beautiful space, ok service. As far as restaurants go in close proximity to grand central, this is a solid option, with delicious food and beautiful ambience with a lively Mediterranean vibe. The service, however, leaves something to be desired…with the waitstaff repeatedly asking if we were done with our meal (while our silverware was in the “still consuming/enjoying open position…” likely just a matter of training as they were still lovely and amiable.
Beautiful atmosphere and a delicious brunch. The staff was excellent and patient.
Loved this place. Superb wine that was suggested by our sommelier. Hmmmm. Memories galore. Excellent food and my first experience of sumac. Pure love in a spice that I and a purchased after. Talk about fine dining.
Went with a large group, and service was excellent despite the table size. All of the share plates that we tried were delicious, and the signature lamb dish was also impressive. As you can imagine, I really enjoyed my meal here.
Tried out on restaurant week. The potion was huge and couldnt finish my dishes.Tasted good, but not special...I had gaspacho and gnocchi.
Great food and service. We were in a rush and had only one hour to dine with a party of 4. They managed to prepare a fresh and delicious meal à la carte and we still had time left for coffee after!
A delightful and decorative oasis in Midtown that serves good Mediterranean fare. Staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive. The place itself is spacious while still providing a feeling of intimacy and warmth. I would definitely come back.
Hopping NYC restaurant with great lamb dishes. Experience was wonderful. Up and coming hip place. Apps were delicious too. Pricing of dishes is very reasonable.
Great service. Generous portions. Enjoyed the last day of restaurant week.
Expensive for such simple food. I got a simple green salad with a few pieces of artichoke and a plain chicken brochette.
Greatly enjoyed the food and staff. Restaurant was on the hot side (thermostat was next to us - set to 70 but sitting at 80) and music was a bit too loud and too electronic for my taste. Still a great place to eat.
Delicious, good service, and clean. This is probably my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the area as the servers are polite and understanding. They are also patient and quick. We are a family of four and it sometimes takes a while to get the food, it came to the table fast. The restaurant was very good as it gives a comfortable vibe. I ordered a combo of dips for the appetizer and a chicken shashlik. the food was way better than I thought it would be. The sides on the menu were delicious and well seasoned. I ordered the grilled veggies and they were so good! I usually don’t eat grilled eggplant but this was soo good. Dessert was delicious as the ice cream was rich and sweet. The bathrooms are very clean and have a lot of privacy unlike other restaurants I have seen. Definitely worth coming back to when I come back to New York!
We wanted to host a dinner for family offices and HNW individuals to meet and let them get to know about our venture fund and three other funds who were cohosts. We spoke with three different restaurants in the area. We settled on Pera because of their communication, menu, and ability to host up to 20 people. We ended up taking the wine alcove for our 16 guests. About an hour before the dinner started I arrived and realized that the wine alcove would not offer us the ability for people to stand and mingle without interfering with the flow of the restaurant. After speaking with the management no more than 10 minutes later they came back and were able to offer us the private room which wasnt being used at that time. They quickly converted it from 4 tables of 4 to 2 tables of 8 with space between for people to stand, have a glass of something, and network. The private room ended up being excellent and we had close to 20 people as others showed up unannounced. The service was five stars, the food was excellent, and the dinner went great. People were able to mingle, the wait staff was very attentive, the wine glasses and water glasses were always filled and the food was great. We were served a variety of appetizers and then a choice of a main course. I chose the steak and it was great, everyone had a great time. Five stars to the whole staff and the restaurant for accommodating us and for allowing us to stay after dinner and not rushing us out. if youre having a corporate dinner or a birthday party or some other function Pera is a great place for it.
A party of six of us stopped in here for lunch during a business trip. The hostess did not seem very pleased when we arrived without a reservation but was still able to accommodate us. There were no guests in the restaurant when we arrived however it quickly filled up so I would definitely suggest a reservation. For appetizers we had the Pera Dip Trio, Grilled Spanish Octopus, and Portuguese Fried Calamari. All were excellent! For my main plate I had the Sirloin Shashlik Steak Frites which was marinated, seasoned, and very tender. I also enjoyed the Mediterranean Rose Sangria! The atmosphere is also very nice!
The food was delicious and perfectly balanced with flavors.
A strange place...its always booming and packed with people but the food is just not that good. We ordered phyllo dough starters that tasted doughy and uncooked, I got the greek salad with salmon but the salmon was FISHY FISHY and the salad very underdressed. The fries were pretty good- mainly gave it 2 starts for the delicious, greasy pita chips. Another fun fact about here is the mocktails are $16 while lunch cocktails are $10... make it make sense. And while you do that Im going to find another Greek lunch spot.
Went here for their happy hour which is a decent deal - $20 for 2 small plates and a cocktail. Really nice interior and decor, extremely clean.Happy hour runs everyday so is worth the visit!
There is nothing wrong with the food or price, the menu has decent options. However the portions arent really what they should be for the platters and vegan/veg menu.Desserts are delicious. They have a limited cocktails options.Staff/Hospitality needs to be fixed.Note- You will have to be cautious and keep a note of your order as bill can have extra items.
Amazing Mediterranean cuisine! Try the watermelon & feta salad, it’s out of this world! Actually, everything we ate was lovely!
I tried a delightful Greek wine that was new to me - but most Greek wines are. It was delicious - crisp and mineral forward - research will be done! I had the Chicken Shashlik and that was SO very good! The service was attentive and efficient. I think we got there at just the right time because it very busy while we were eating. Nice ambiance. One has many dining options in Manhattan - but this could become a fav!
Came on a whim and had the best meal of my life the pan roasted Salmon with butternut squash risotto was phenomenal. Atmosphere: Excellent service: fast and efficient wait time: 30 minutes which surprised me because I thought it would be longer. Cannot praise this place enough.
We had made reservations for a table of 6 and this review is specifically for NYC Restaurant Week (2021).We got outside seating on a Friday evening for 6:30 pm on a relatively warm day. We arrived on time and were seated right away. The place was empty inside at that time and outdoor seating was slightly busy with 2 other tables occupied. We ordered a few cocktails and some beer on tap and it took longer for us to get our drinks to us, including repeat orders for beers, which our waitress forgot to put it.We ordered from the $39 per person NYC Restaurant Week menu, which included Assorted Dips Platter, Portuguese Calamari, Hand Rolled Grape Leaves, and a Maroul Salad. The Grape Leaves and Maroul Salad were absolutely delicious and were the best appetizers on the table. For mains, we got Lamb Adana, Organic Beef Burger, and Black Pepper Ricotta Gnocchi. We all cleaned out our plates, and I can confirm that the Gnocchi was absolutely filing and delicious! Our waitress was not attentive at all, but service other than that was absolutely top notch... so giving a 20% gratuity at end did suck a little bit! We might visit again for lunch or dinner!
Excellent! Amazing atmosphere and very high-end feeling restaurant with great decoration and well-dressed servers. The food was good and wasnt as expensive as expected for such a nice place in Manhattan.
Great service and food! My clients from Japan really enjoyed and impressed with the quality, presentation, and flavors of food. We had grilled Lamb special, Salmon, Greek salad with Chicken shashlik, also Spanish octopus as an appetizer.Perfect for business with convenient location. Ill definitely bring my other clients back there.
The food was Absolutely Amazing from presentation to taste. Everything we ordered got great reviews from our group. They had quite a variety of drinks to choose from...a wine lovers dream. Lovely atmosphere dimmed lights, but bright enough to see your food..We enjoyed it with friends, so it was conducive to conversations as well. Definitely a repeat location.
OK first off the ambience is stunning you walk in feeling like your transform. The artichoke dish was my favorite but all honesty tried a few and it didnt disappoint. The drinks delicious and consistent. Manger is amazing Jose made sure everything was fine and engaging which is a plus want to feel good when your out to eat Ill definitely be back
This place is an absolute hidden gem in Manhattan, and I really loved their atmosphere like not that fancy and not that formal either. Their foods are (oh their calamari!) super great and the price is like making me forget that I was sitting in the middle of Manhattan. The gentleman at the front door who said he is from Finland or Iceland somewhere similar has changed my definition of good wine for good. The wine, he suggested that night, really shook my brain and making me realize that all the wines I drank so far were ripping me off so badly.
Really loved the 3-Dip appetizer and the Salmon over Risotto. Very attentive service.
Great place! The food was STELLAR, the prices were reasonable, and the service was spot on. Plus the proximity to grand Central makes it a prime meeting location! Will definitely be back!
I love their food. We went there for a dinner and I really liked the place. I think this restaurant is best Turkish Restaurant in the states. The lady at the door was very helpful and professional. She made us to remember that great place.I ordered Adana kebab and I loved. That was almost same taste the one you will eat in Turkey.Their ezme was so delicious. If you eat their ezme appetizer with their Adana kebab this should be best option tho.We also ordered chicken and the way they marinated the chicken was really good.If you want to have a great date night or special occasion and if you want to have some great Turkish food this is where you need to go in NYC area.I have been all over the Turkish restaurants in US but this one is the best one ever.Thank you!
The food was average. Service was good. The drinks where much below average!!!
The food is great. We enjoyed the hummus with pastrami and the calamari appetizers, and the lamb Adana was delicious. But the service was mediocre. Frustrating that they were out of the wines we wanted. And the captain was extremely rude to us in complaining about the tip we left. I have been before but I will not return again.
Good service, very clean and most important the food was Amazing!!!
The restaurant decor is nice but the tables are really close together to where one would be stuck on the booth side if all tables were filled — not enough clearance to get in and out. They had to pull the table out in order for a person to get seated and then the table was shoved back into place effectively trapping the diner. Not a good set up. Regarding the food, the appetizers were great although the lamb tacos were very rich. The main course, the mixed grill platter, had so so seasoned meat, but the sad part was that the variety of meat was all overcooked. We would only return for appetizers, if they’re still in business by then.
Enjoyed a fantastic dinner here with family. I tried the Portuguese Calamari to start ,which was incredible with the cherry peppers, moved onto the Shashlik which was flavorful and cooked perfectly and finished with the dark chocolate souffle which was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. Just a quick walk from Bryant park!
Great place for restaurant week. Portions are extremely ample (almost too much food) and the food is yummy. Service was perfect— quick but not overly so.
Dinner their last night. Met my son...staff was incredibly accommodating. There were two large parties in the main dining room. My wife, my son and I were seated in an almost private dining room. And the food was excellent. I could see how the noise level can get a bit too much for us older folks.
Very tasty food with a good variety of Mediterranean options. Great ambiance and very friendly staff. We were the last people in the restaurant on a Saturday night and they couldnt have been more accommodating.
Lovely tanle in alcove for family birthday celebration and reunion with delicious, made to order chocolate souffle.
An enjoyable evening of hummus, salmon, and good wine in a peaceful setting.
Beautiful restaurant with exquisite food.
What fine, gentle and serene place. Their cuisine is tasty, very tasty! Being there is pleasantly enjoyable of course and somehow soothing to all of our senses. It has become one of my favorite spaces to enjoy good food, beautiful music and great atmosphere! Thank you to all the staff that make it the wonderful place e it is!
What an amazing dinijng experience. This place is a step above the rest, and they have the best Greek wines!
My two friends and I went pre-show and had a very nice dinner. Servers were great and the food was delicious. I would eat here again and I loved the small demitasse cups the coffee came in. 😀
If you want to taste Turkish food, you are at the right address. My favorite is the selection of all mezes, humus, mucver, and as the main dish, Adana kebab. Bulgur pilav is especially recommended to be ordered as side dish and peppers are great for those who like hot/spicy taste. The service is friendly. I wish they had white table cloths. I cannot stand the idea of eating on those plastic table mats imagining how many more people shared it before me ! And they should be serving real Turkish tea in glass tea cups, not tea bags! Those two items make them lose a star. Also, in the cold winter days, the place is blowing cold with the air streaming in from the door that opens and closes non-stop at the peak of the lunch and dinners hours and gives a very uncomfortable feeling. I know what i am talking about when the temperature is below zero outside. Believe they need to replace the door at least with a revolving one.
From contacting the maitre d to paying the check, this restaurant is top notch.Mediterranean in mid-town at its best.5 star service, food and atmosphere.
The ambience is very good with modern decor. loved the band playing on the side . not many options on the food in the menu. wish there were more. quality was good though... but cud have been better. service is extremely good. overall a good evening spent. do I want to visit again? ...not sure as I said, not too many options on the food.
Delicious food & terrific service! We enjoyed dinner with friends outside on a beautiful NY evening. Cocktails & wines were top notch. Appetizers & dinner were fresh & delicious. Thank you!
Terrible! Not worth the money at all. I ordered a Diet Coke and they brought me an expired one. They could not change it because they had no more that were not expired. Food was pretentious, unflavorful and the plates were too small for the price that they charge. The worse restaurant Ive been in since I have been coming to NYC 8 years ago.
Well appointed restaurant near Grand Central. Arrived about 6pm without a reservation on a Saturday night. Had to leave by 7:15-20 for a Broadway play at 8.Fine greeting, seated immediately. Menus and wine list reviewed and order taken quickly after answers to questions. Rather quickly and an excellent meal appeared. With enough time for coffee we left about 7:15 and walked to 45th West of Broadway. Well be back!
Really legit Adana Kebab, great place & service !’
Big shout out to this restaurant. After taking up a large portion of the sidewalk for their outdoor dining they left no room for pedestrians. I know this because I was unlucky enough to twist my ankle and fall on the tiny portion of sidewalk remaining which contains a cracked/depressed subway vent.Want to thank the staff that ran inside when that happened so they wouldnt have to ask if I was ok. I am, by the way, just swollen and scaped up. So Im not suing you but rather shaming you for your lack of human decency. If the food is anything like your humanity it must be hard to swallow.
My team of 30 had an amazing time at Pera a few weeks ago. We held an annual team meeting and after wrapping up a day of meetings, we were excited to visit a new restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were provided a warm welcome and seated in a requested semi private area. The divider provided a slight piece of privacy while still allowing us to be a part of the crowd. The lighting was perfect and then came the best part… the food. We had a prefixed menu and it did not disappoint. Everything was served in sort of a family thanksgiving style. We were passing food around to one another, laughing and although we were peers, it almost felt like we were all a bunch of family members out and enjoying an amazing dinner together. Everything was so delicious. I took a few minutes between talk and laughter to stare at a few managers in the group and they were very happy: As an assistant, I was truly happy to see all the smiles of my peers and I knew we’d made the right decision coming to Pera. The service was nothing short of amazing. We were tended to in a caring way, but also given the proper time to relax and just enjoy our time together. I could hear guests at other tables and there was laughter and great conversations going on, but somehow it didn’t overtake my team’s ability to hear one another. We would definitely go back again!Thank You Pera!Best,Tamara
The reality was not quite up to the anticipation. grape leaves and hummus appetizers were outstanding, while signature lamb meze was mezzo mezzo. main courses were interesting but underwhelming. dessert (semolina cake) was terrific. wines were very good and waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Great place for a client dinner. Food was fantastic. Loved their spin on fried calamari and the seafood cake. Their old fashioned was okay. Used a maraschino cherry (sad face). Need to upgrade to Luxardo cherry!
Hosted a corporate holiday cocktail hour and dinner at Pera. Great service, food, and atmosphere. We will be back!
They r cooking delicious food but u should wear night vision for see to your order 🙃
Great atmosphere, nice dishes and generous portions. We ate there on a friday evening and all bottles of wine were half off. Great deal. Also conveniently located near Grand central station. Seating at the bar also available.
Booked a company dinner here! Food and service was amazing!
Delicious flavors. Suggest the appetizers calamari and chef’s choice Appetizer.
This may be one of the worst restaurants in Manhattan. Restaurant is heavily understaffed. Service is abysmal with food delivered overcooked and burnt. Owner is oblivious to the issues and sits at the bar drinking while his restaurant collapses around him. AVOID.
Very good food with great service and a Mediterranean influenced menu.
Standard Mediterranean fare but nice atmosphere and the service is good.
Great food and attentive staff!
The food is delicious albeit a little greasy, the ambience is nice. The location is good too, conveniently located in the Mid town!
Amazing service. Requested quiet corner for anniversary and were given private room. Loved their signature lamb and enjoyed the sommeliers wine pairing choices.
Very nice atmosphere. The service folks were polite and the food was delicious. Being a Mediterranean restaurant, I can really taste the excellent olive oil in the food.
Beautiful setting, impeccable service, great food
Went here for the first time and went for the tasting menu. It opened with a trio of dips and some chips/crisp bread. Frankly, if we had that by itself it would have been enough for the entire meal! As it was we saved room for the salad, followed by tacos and the large plate of various meat. It was tasty, but way too much food for what could be called a tasting menu. So, if you want to go for it make sure you have a very empty stomach. We doggy-bagged most of the last two dishes. For a Friday evening it wasnt too packed. We suspected the restaurant must do a lot of business during lunchtime given its central location. But at least it meant the restaurant wasnt very loud and you could hold a normal conversation. The service was very attentive too. Well be back, but I think well give the tasting menu a miss and just do tapas style as the appetizers looked quite interesting.
Our host was personality plus! He assisted with choosing amazing grilled meats, lamb and chicken, refreshing white wine, cappuccino and traditional desserts of baklava and rice puddingJust YUM!
I found the food to be a bit on the expensive side for the quality and quantity. its an interpretation of turkish & greek food mostly but the dishes offered are not exceptional in taste and sometimes border on dull tasting. the pidettes are totally a letdown if you have had the real thing. service is good overall.
Cute place. Food is yummy. Drinks are a bit pricey but thats not unusual for the area. We got there early so I dont know if the staff was quite ready but they were nice all the less.
Went here for happy hour with some co-workers & thought it was great!
Turkish inspired menu with wonderful choices. Lively atmosphere, but allows for comfortable conversations. Helpful service staff that knows the menu and wines.
Food selection is not great. My meal was decent but not a lot of vegetarian and, especially, vegan options. Service was decent
The atmosphere was great and the food was even better.
Was in the city for meetings and stopped for lunch. Had the Muammara for an app and the Grilled Veg Timbale with some baklava for dessert. It was amazing. Everything was fresh and great service. Delicious!
Great food and service.
Beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere, but not authentic Turkish food and unfortunately got food poisoning from here.
I came here with my besties for restaurant week. The restaurant has an amazing decor and ambiance. It is chic and caters to a middle-class status and up. The host was courteous and professional. The waitstaff was attentive and very low-key. They stuck to the background and kept everything straight to the point. For appetizers, we ordered 2 calamari dishes and chips with mixed dips. The calamari was delicious, and so were the chips. However, out of the 4 dips, 2 were great. The rest tasted bland. For my dinner, I had salmon with the quinoa. Sadly, it was mediocre. Granted, my palate was already satiated with the dips and calamari, so the salmon tasted super bland. Im not that big of a fan of the quinoa but my besties really liked it. My besties had the steak with fries (didnt take a pic). I loved it. So, it is a matter of preference.
Fantastic menu with great tasting variety and beautiful presentation. Couldnt have been happier or had a healthier meal.
Really great service. Super nice staff. Not overbearing. I had the baby lamb chops and they were perfectly cooked.
Excellent Mediterranean fare in a nice and well appointed set up. Service is attentive and food is priced correctly with good quality and proportionate sizing.
Great food, excellent service, and ambience. Thank you for the amazing menu. Nice fusion of Brasserie and Mediterranean. Well done!Prices are very reasonable. $$
Delicious mezzes, salads and lamb dishes. Love the warm bread that they always serve. Good place for taking clients/business prospects out.
Turkish food at its best. Nice bar with big window for NYC people watching. Small plate tapas for casual meal or full entrees.
The food is good. Great service. Large collection of wine. Hot happy hour joint for professional.
Great food, like the clean decor. Great Mediterranean food and service are terrific. Will return and recommend to all my friends!
Overall a really pleasant experience, will be back.
Great ambiance great food great service
Food is good. Menu is mainly lamb, seafood, and chicken. Service was excellent. Restaurant was mostly empty when we went at 4pm on a Saturday. Has a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
About disappointed with the managment. we got a piece of Plastic in our food and yet we were charged for the dish at check out.
Super noisy. Impossible to talk or hear.
Great service, and even greater food. Highly recommended. The mixed grills platter is to die for 😀
Our familys Thanksgiving experience at this restaurant was truly memorable. From the moment we stepped in, the high-quality of every dish stood out, many dishes like the cranberry sauce tasted homemade. We also had incredible service. The ambience of the space contributed greatly to our enjoyment, with tasteful decor and a welcoming atmosphere. However, the music was the only aspect that detracted from the experience, lacking a consistent theme and feeling somewhat disjointed from the setting.Despite this, the meal itself was a remarkable success, and we left with a sense of gratitude for a wonderful thanksgiving meal.
Food is fresh and well prepared- BUT not quite the real stuff. Too Americanized for my taste. Fine dining should avoid “bland” simplifications.
Dinner with a group. From the drinks, appetizers, dinners to desserts, everything was excellent. Service spot on.
Overpriced
While the food was fine, no one thought any of the dishes stood out, and some were either over or under-seasoned. If you want food of equivalent quality (or maybe better) for less, go to Omars Mediterranean Cuisine. If you want higher quality food and ambiance for the same price, theres ilili.
Few vegetarian menu options, expensive but good taste
The cuisine and decor were feast for the eyes. Yummy.
Don’t waste your time and money here. For a reservation of 11 people they squeezed us in a table for 8. We literally could not move. The drinks are “okay” you could get better cocktails at a dive bar. The portions are TINY. All of our mains were room temperature or cold and the food overall was NOT good. If you want great Mediterranean food just go to Astoria, Queens.
Mediocrity at best actually that os being generous but some people were ok with meal mine not so good and the service sucked
This is a high-quality restaurant and you are very likely to enjoy your meal and overall experience here. Perhaps most important, however, is the *value*. When one considers the beautiful atmosphere, the quality of the service, and the very high quality of the food, it is very impressive that they offer all of that at the prices that they do. That is all the more the case when you consider its location here in Midtown Manhattan. Even if you are on your way somewhere else, the fact that it is so close to Grand Central means you might have an opportunity to enjoy this place. When one talks with the staff, it is easy to tell that they know the restaurant business and understand how to achieve success in it in NYC, which is obviously not easy. There is lots on the menu likely worth a try, but their burger is very good -- it was clear that the chef put some thought, creativity and knowledge into the sauce, for example. When someone can take a basic lunch like a burger and fries do that, you can tell that the restaurant knows what they are doing. The coffee prepared and served in a french press was very good; they served me a brand of Colombian (Omnipak is the brand, I believe they said). They said they were grinding the beans there and because it tasted so good, I bet they know how to store the beans properly and probably do that (which not every place does). The very fact that one can have a great sandwich and fries in a place as beautiful as this in Midtown Manhattan for $21.00 before tax and tip is really impressive. The service is good here too. Its evident that these are knowledgeable restauranteurs who know the industry and care about their customers. I will definitely be back here.
Great atmosphere and service! Impressive wine selection and fairly priced.
Really bad service. We had to leave the restaurant without ordering.
Salmon was ok, skin wasnt crispy. Also was served hummus with meat without a heads up, plus who puts meat in hummus?!
I have had many meals in NYC over many vacations here, and this was the best meal I have ever had here. I had the sirloin steak with fries. The steak had no fat, was amazingly tender, and had fantastic flavor. The fries were fresh cut and delicious as well. My wife had the chicken shashlik and loved it as well. The portions were sizable too. Five stars all around.
Great place for a business lunch. Quiet enough for conversation, good food and service. Empty at 1155, packed at 1215, so make a reservation.
This is not a restaurant to come to if you have allergies. I was afraid to eat anything. I have an onion allergy. They couldnt make any of the meat dishes for me because they said they are all prepared with onion. I asked if I could special order without onion and the answer was no. I asked what I could eat and they brought me an allergy menu that had popular allergies highlighted, onion was one of them, but some of the dishes that had onion in the description didnt have it listed in the highlighted section. I ordered a salad which was very good, but the amount of time and embarrassment that it took to figure out what to eat was not worth it for me.
We had a wonderful family reunion brunch for 16 people at Pera on Madison Avenue. The food was absolutely delicious and Kostos (and other staff) were extremely helpful and accommodating. We had many picky eaters, but everyone loved the food and ambiance (we had a private room).
The atmosphere is great would recommend 10/10 best mediterrean food i have ever had.
One of my very favorite restaurants in NYC. The service is every bit as good as the food. I love the unusual pairings. Drinks are wonderful too!
Nice vibe, good service and ambiance.Over all happening place, but really dry chicken kabobs.
Very rude wait staff and hostess. Acted as if we were putting them out by asking for a table at 3:30 without a reservation and reluctantly sat us. Then proceeded to treated us like that the whole time. Wish we would have left after we received our first vibe from them. Will not be a repeat customer ever and neither will any of my friends or family. Restaurants come and go quickly in this town. The little people count too!!!
Great food! Meze sampler was a great variety. Good for pre-theater meal.
We had our company holiday party here and the food was excellent.
A good option for happy hour drinks midtown if youd actually like to have a conversation! Solid mediterranean food
Pera had very delicious Mediterranean food and great staff! They were very attentive and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was a great place to dine in the city.
Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices for midtown. Worth a visit
This place was off the hook. Simply fantabulous. Bar none, incredible joy on the tastebuds. Para siempre.
Food was so so, had Portuguese calamari, cheese croquettes, grill salmon on quinoa & burger (Restaurant Week). None are impressive
Chef Oscar, GM Michael. They are professionals. Ive heard good things about their Soho location too, but Im sticking with these two gents!
Saturday brunch. Eggs Benedict is butter on eggs with a sliver of salmon and undercooked thick cut fries. Village salad is extremely bland and 12 dollars for 5 bite sized pieces of chicken is not worth it. Very outdated and dark atmosphere, but nice waitstaff.
One of the best organic burgers in the city ... Also french fries are great
Enjoyed this mix of Mediterranean food! Service was awesome. Nice atmosphere.
Amazing evening, great service and the food was just like when I travel to the eastern Mediterranean
Very busy especially at lunch. Food is good just slightly overpriced. Enjoy the place.
Wonderful place! We came here for a business dinner. The space is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. The space was a bit tight and we were sitting elbow to elbow. The appetizers were tasty, nice selection and the entrees were very good as well. I got the farmers salad with grilled salmon, the portion was generous and the fish was cooked perfectly. Overall we had a great time plus I was able to make a reservation for 12 without calling (just on open table) - made things a lot easier
An explosion of flavors and fresh food at this restaurant. One of the best meals of my life. The place was almost empty and the service was amazing. I’m not sure why it wasn’t packed. It should be. (We ate vegetarian - we got the chef’s special- bronzini white fish, two vegetarian appetizers, and the kale gnocchi. Everything was AMAZING.) I wanted to go back for every meal after we ate there. Instead we tried other restaurants around NYC but nothing compared.
Great nye Dinner! Very delicious: Fresh vegetables, good meat.
Based on GFs great experience at Peras Soho branch some time ago, we celebrated her birthday with early dinner at the midtown location after taking in a Broadway show. The restaurant was warm and comfortable despite the chilly January temps. Our first stop was at the bar. We enjoyed a round of excellent cocktails served with great style by an accomplished mixologist. Bravo! For dinner, we ordered from the NYC Restaurant Week menu (three courses for $60, including a glass of wine). Our apps -- a trio of mezze dips with pita chips and fried calamari -- were delicious. The main courses were pretty good, too; but my braised short rib was a tad dull and under seasoned, and her chicken shashlik was served lukewarm. The baklava dessert was lovely, and hers came with a celebratory birthday candle. Service was mostly solid throughout. The place was super busy! All in all, we enjoyed our dinner experience.
Decent restaurant in the heart madison Square. Good food and service. Their kale gnocchi is nice as well as their trio dip platter with Pita.
Went there for work. Dinner was delicious. Great atmosphere along with some great team members.
Elegant yet relaxed and a spacious atmosphere. Excellent food. Great bar
Great happy hour. Delicious appetizers. Warm service.
Very nice place. Good good (could be better) and nice ambience. Try to reserve before going as they are mostly booked. We didn’t have reservation so had lunch at bar.
If you’re born and raised in the Mediterranean, or have any idea about what Mediterranean food is supposed to taste, this place is most definitely NOT for you. From the lamb to the marouli salad to the fake tzatziki sauce the quality was very poor.
Great food, great location. Very good atmosphere inside
We stopped here while in NYC for the day. The atmosphere was very nice, the bartenders were attentive and the food was very good.
Good food, good location, and ideal for business lunches especially.
The food is very good. I enjoyed the menu also the customer service was great.Thank you!
After spending all day at the Met, we were looking for a place to chill with wine and appetizers and this place fit the bill perfectly. We ordered pita bread, calamari, grilled artichokes and stuffed grape leaves and all were delicious and prepared Mediterranean style. The service was friendly, and the place has a nice appearance and ambiance. Highly recommended.
Phenomenal food and atmosphere. If I lived in NY, I would go back often.
I wanted to like this place more. Ordered Chicken Shashlik for dinner and found that the chicken was bland and tough perhaps over cooked. The rice was good. My guest had the Salmon and risotto which they enjoyed. French Margarita was ok very light on the toquilla. I will say that the baklava was very tasty but not worth me going back for. As for the atmosphere it was very noisy and busy.
I met up with an old friend near Grand Central Station for dinner, and wanting Mediterranean, this is where we went. Its fine! Though just a tad pricey for the service and food.
Had dinner last night with a group and found a small cockroach on my drink. I told the waiter and the manager came up to apologize and offer a round of drinks for the inconvenience.
The bartender Thursdday evening was awesome. Made some great Old Fashions.
Nice sit down restaurant. Reasonably priced. The watermelon salad was outstanding. The bakhlava was outstanding. My steak dish was good. The service was a bit wanting. A bit slow. No bread served with salad. Would have been 5 star otherwise.
Tasty food, great service, amazing location near Bryant Park
Attended a professional business networking group here. Awesome, clean, good food!
We came here for our very first time, food was amazing, service on top even though was very busy, Eder the manager was very accommodating and professional and always making sure we were ok, we’d definitely come back, Cheers!
I have been going to Pera for quite a while. This visit was a bit odd - with the server forgetting to bring us a part of our order. Overall, management should pay attention to differentiating on service in this crowded market to stay relevant.
Appetizers were great and they have a really good happy hour deal! Two apps and a drink, price varies depending on type of drink I believe.
Great food but can be noisy when full
So bad food not teste good the price too much not recommended my family were so disappointed.
Sampler appetizer plate was really good with a lot of diverse flavors. I thought the kale gnocchi was a little bland for my taste but the texture was perfect. Waiter was nice but a little over worked, so drink refills were slow.
Food excellent..service spotty since we sat outside
Good service and atmosphere, average food
Busy rather book a table. Good food
The first impression was amazing, that started with the host who was super friendly and attentive. In the beginning so was the waitress, but then we just didnt see her for half an hour at a time...so ordering another drink was not really an option. As for the drinks order a mojito and it was just bad and looked and tasted nothing like one. We got more attention from the bus boy then the waitress. Since we didnt see our waitress at all we asked the bus boy for the check, and then 30 minutes later we asked a different waitress for it again and thats when we finally got to see our waitress. As for the food it was just OK especially compared to other Mediterranean restaurants. When you read the menu it looks different from the regular dishes with some twist on it, when in reality its just fancy names and nothing special about the food itself.
Nice food and ambience
We found this restaurant on a whim! Glad we did. The food was delish. Highly recommend
This used to be an amazing restaurant. The last 2 times were a huge disappointment. The food quality changed and the service was not good. It took an hr and a half for food to come out at lunch time. Sadly will not be going back.
Went there for dinner last night. Ordered the sliced steak. Asked the server to ensure it was medium rare as he indicated they normally make it medium to medium well. He said kitchen normally doesnt take requests but we asked nicely that can you please make sure its not over done and have it pink inside. Steak came back charred, very well done with zero pink. What was upsetting is that we gave them ample communication before hand and there was zero care done to make sure steak is done right as per request of the customer. Server said that sauce makes it look darker. We asked for the manager and told him that our request to have the steak done what I will call properly was not honored. He indicated that they can make it that way but they are so busy that they cant pay attention to individual orders. I will conclude that place is run like a factory and they dont have time to pay attention to details as long as the money is rolling in. It was packed to the brim so Pera is not hurting for businness. Not sure of why anyone would serve steak charred as a normal course of preparation and then make sure its well done even after the customer asked nicely to ensure it was prepared to their liking. It was $35 for a small piece of steak slices and I feel ripped off leaving the restaurant. The vegetarian menu was very limited and the entire meal inclduing the drinks were ordinary. We spent a few hundred for mediocrity all the way and none of us will ever return to Pera NYC.
I had the fish wrapped in grape leaves. Yummy!!!
Delicious food, great service and the restaurant itself is beautiful. They have an outdoor covered dining area as well, which is nice. And it’s close to grand central!
Attentive service and always good food. A little tight seating but this is midtown Manhattan.
Went to Pera to grab and early dinner before a show and was lucky to get the NYC Restaurant Week menu. Appetizer, entrée and dessert for $39. The food was good, the service even better (attentive, without been overbearing). Will certainly come back!
Poor service this past friday for lunch. Mthey were not that busy when r party if 5 came in. We had to ask for water refill several times and for our side dish that was waiting up at the counter getting cold. Tip reflected this service
Delicious happy hour. Amazing service.
Awesome meal. Great service👌
Went there with 7 others the other night for a casual business dinner. We opted for the tasting menu option, which turned out to be quite good. We started with a selection of dips/hummus, then an excellent feta salad. The main course was a meat platter of lamb and chicken, which was excellent. It finished off with baklava. At first I was worried that it would not be enough food for everyone, but it turned out to be plenty. Decent beer menu (wasnt in a wine mood). For Mediterranean food, it is a very solid choice. Yes, its a bit pricey; but its NYC and no worse than other places of equal quality. Recommended.
Great! And thats all you need to know
Looks great. Need to go try the food n drinks.
Great food.
Very busy, great vibe. Very accommodating management who managed to squeeze us in and very efficient staff front of house and in the kitchen. And best of all superb food.
Amazing place for a meal. Food was outtasight!!!
Outstanding service and delish eats! Our group was thoroughly impressed! Heated patio was mildly drafty...but still comfy for middle of December! Have some wine if you get chilly, its worth it!
Good mediterranean food. Mostly Greek. The lamb is really good.
My compliments to the chef! Service could be a little better. It could be a post COVID issue due that the crew was running on the lite side but the overall experience was good. If you are planning to drop by, just make sure you are not starving as they will take their time to provide food and drinks.
