Love this little gem. We came right after they opened on a Monday and had the place to ourselves! Susan was great explaining food choices and chatting about sake choices. I love that you can eat small plates that come out quickly and perfect for sake nerds! I would come back all the time for these 2 dishes pictured. Amazing flavor and love the homemade pickles. The squid reminded me of squid jerky i wish i had some right now.
It is a really small place but it’s a sake bar .. it’s a small cute bar with red ambience, I believe it’s red coz sake is originated from Japan and Japan has its red circle in the flag which symbolizes Japan.. had a sake bomb which is fun to have and loved it.. the bartender was really helpful in selecting the drinks and make our lives easy for a sake bomb.
Incredible selection of sake, delicious curry (and great portions) with perfect ginger & spices, cozy atmosphere, and knowledgeable team.
Not only is the food great, but the presentation and atmosphere make this place an excellent spot for both groups and couples. The menu is expansive and the cocktails are delicious. Recommend wagyu, yakitori platter, sashimi platter
It’s cozy and cute but I wouldn’t say it’s the best food I’ve ever had. The pork buns were smothered in BBQ like sauce and not in a good way. The mushrooms are good but unbelievably few mushrooms. I do believe it’s a good date spot because of how small it is, but food is nothing to write home about.
Small sake bar.Has a lot of sake, but alot of them are out of stock as well.Great place to go enjoy sake in a quiet setting
Such a fun time at a neighborhood gem of a hole-in-the-wall.Tons of sake to try, all excellent.Delicious small bites. Love the ambiance and music too.Perfect for a creative date night!
We love this place, food is amazing, drink recommendations from Susan are even better. I’ve been here many times, can you find my picture on the wall?
I’ve been holding out on this review for over a year because I’m greedy and want to keep this hidden gem a secret to myself, but this place deserves a review!First off, it’s a 25 seat joint. You walk in and it feels like the back streets of Tokyo: tiny, dark, chill. Perfect spot to bring a date or an old friend! There’s a copious amount of sake to choose from and they’re all delicious! If you’re not too well versed with sake, not to worry, all the bartenders here know their stuff. Food is great too, the type of comfort food your Japanese aunt would make if you rolled into her flat late at night after consuming too much sake. But to be fair, it’s real yummy when sober too! Highly reccomend the chicken karaage, Berkshire sausage, gyoza, and spicy tuna onigiri. They go great with a few glasses of sake, or better yet, a sake bomb. This place is so small and intimate that if you stay long enough, you’ll brush shoulders with some of NYC’s coolest and most eccentric individuals. Highly reccomend visiting this place, and don’t forget to order the karaage!
Awesome staff, food is super good and tasty, the buns are soft and delicious, meat or veggie! Cocktails are great and priced nicely. Great ambiance and hospitality. A little tight on busy nights but one youre in there its great! Definitely coming back next time Im in the city again! Go Austin and David!
Knowledgeable staff, generous pours, and good food. Has outdoor seating and is luckily a block away from the dense loudness of East Village. You can take your time, enjoy your company, and learn about and enjoy your sake.
Great laid back atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good selection of Saké, plum wine, and Japanese beers. The bar tender was even cool enough to walk us through the right way to do sake bombs. It was great and we had a blast!
Tiny Sake bar located in East Village. The indoors has 2 small tables and some variable seating by the bar. One bartender and one cook (it appears) to run the place, so service is spotty. Appetizers were tasty and drinks were fine. A little pricey but a cool experience to check out with a friend. Definitely not a date spot, and not a group spot.
Really solid food and a really nice selection of sake. Food does take a bit to arrive, I would not recommend if you are in a rush. The curry rice is filling and flavorful. Id recommend getting another snack while you wait, the squid and karaage are delicious and are great with sake.
Friends and I go here all the time. Food is fantastic staff is even better. We
Not too impressed by the food - seemed overpriced for what it was.
Small space with more space now that outdoor seating is available. Great selection of sake and insightful recommendations from the staff. I really enjoyed the EVERLASTING ROOTS Junmai which was off menu, but recommended when looking for a slightly smokey sake. The CHICKEN KARAAGE had a tempura-like breading and nice ginger hint.
Very intimate space to grab a drink with your friends! super knowledgable staff with a large selection of sake. the decor is extravagant and moody and makes for a perfect atmosphere. it is quite tiny inside
Food and drinks are great. they forgot my birthday reservation one time and the bartender was wasted but seated us in reasonable time and it all worked out. great vibes.
Literally our favorite place in all of the east village. we love the food, drinks and atmosphere!!! we’ve celebrated birthdays, events and everything in between at satskos. HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming to sake bar satsko - it’s amazing!!!
If you can afford a fancy boutique sake bar night - this is the place. The cuisine is delicious and the sake selection is outrageous. The only thing not authentically japanese about this place is the super entertaining bartenders. Highly recommend.
Awesome little hole in the wall Izakaya style bar/restaurant. Everything on the menu is great and the sake selection is huge. Lots of fund. The host is a real character too
All I can say is hell yes! Knowledgeable staff, amazing food, superb Sake selection.
I lived for 5 years in Japan. This place reminds me of the masterful small places I frequented there. Three people were running the show quite efficiently. The food and drinks are delicious. Great place.
Great food, especially recommend the veggie buns which are savory, umami and slightly spicy. Yuzu beer is also A+
Wonderful small sake bar with great food, drinks, and a very helpful staff. Atmosphere is relaxing and fun, take a friend and enjoy.
I felt quite old at Satsko, but that is not a bad thing at all. Take one of the best sake selections in NYC coupled with an enthusiastic staff who believe in making sake enjoyable for everyone and you have a fantastic sake bar.
Cool sake bar! The beer on tap is chilled! The bartender was very nice and overall it has a great chilled ambience. Nice spot for sake!
Easily the best date spot in NY. Incredible food from a small kitchen. Make sure to order a Sake bomb.
Amazing staff, surprisingly good food, and a wonderful atmosphere. This is one of my favorite spots to sit and have a drink.
One of our favorite date night spots of all time. The sushi roll and pork bun are delicious :)
This place is just a vibe. A whole vibe. Two orders of the Chicken Karaage and Butter mushrooms. I don’t even really like mushrooms like that, but they were delicious. Never been to Japan but I can imagine this is pretty close to it.
Garbage service these people are awful. Much better places in New York. AVOID. waiter was rude and demeaning to my girlfriend. Part of the problem ^
Love this place and the bartenders. Food is awesome too! This place feels just like the small japanese izakayas Ive been to in Tokyo.
Such an incredible friendly space. So many different sake and a great variety of Japanese eats!
Phenomenal food phenomenal vibes great place to hang out w best friends and laugh and enjoy a great meal and drinks
Slightly pricy but has great menu selection and sake list. The place can probably seat 20 some people.
Tasty sake bombs that were delivered almost as soon as you ordered them. Nevertheless, food was only so-so and took forever. Would probably only come here for the sake-bombs.
Good choices in saki. Wish they had more gluten free food but I go for the saki :)
Decades come and go. Satsko endures and there are many reasons why! The cool kids know and the cool kids that are now cool adults know too. Let’s start with the atmosphere. You really can’t get any more downtown New York Village than this. Compact intimate space serving up the finest tuna tataki and chicken karaage. Pair it with a few saki and you’ll quickly realize why you made your way to NY. Japanese owned and operated and a lot less expensive than making your way to Golden Gai in Shinjuku. 100% like, love thumbs up. Do it!
Legitimately smells like a bathroom. A really foul bathroom. Cannot imagine ever wanting to eat sushi from the floor of porta-potty.
A cozy and small place with a variety of Japanese drink
Wow... This is such a great spot... The food is amazing and the vibe is unique... Always happy to go back here
Easily one of the coolest places Ive been to in the city. It has become an instant favorite!
Place jeff likes. Play hiphop and do sake bombs. Small but fun.
Great spot to start or end the night with sake
Had awesome sake and snacks
Great drinks, very kind bartender, and intimate atmosphere for couples.
Just the right size to cram all your friends in, drink a bottle of black dragon sake and make some mistakes
The say its an unpretentious sake but its anything but that. Bartender is typical easily triggered chick who is judging everything you say for its political correctness. Unpleasant
Its small yes, but cant go wrong the sake is flowing and the sake bombs dont stop its the way to go
Cool vibez, good sake, clean bathrooms
Great, under-the-radar spot in East Village. Come by for snacks and drinks.
I love this hidden treasure in the middle of Times Square.
Amazing place with a great sake selection and great bites
Great little Japanese tapas style joint. Good sake!
The vibe makes you want to drink and be merry, and I always do!
Good sake selection, creative and standard small plates
Had an amazing time here, enjoying the well knowledgeable staff, equipped modern bar options, and delicious offerings.Parker was an incredible host and guide to the city as well as a charming conversationalist. Will come again!
A friend brought me here for birthday dinner and the staff were kind, helpful, friendly and loads of fun throughout our evening. Its a tiny Japanese restaurant with an incredible selection of Sake and a huge number of tasty dishes. If you can squeeze yourself into a table, its definitely worth a try. Just keep your wits about you - or you might end up doing sake shots with the rest of the restaurant!
Cozy and inviting. Great food, great sake. The owner is really nice and cares a lot about quality.
Bartender was consistently rude and also seemed inebriated.
Always a party coming here, intimate, warm, this place is a locals favorite. Simple tasting dishes, the spicy tuna and the steamed mushrooms are beyond amazing. The offer a wide sake menu as well.
Happening neighborhood joint with friendly and fun staff.
We’ve been coming here at least once a week for the past 2 years. I love everything about it. The best service, food and sake you could ask for.
Noah is the best bartender there is! The place is super nice and the drinks are an experience! Coming from Israel - sake bomb is the best bomb Ive seen!Food is really good if youre willing to stretch your pocket ... Miso soup is a liquid miracle ...And sometimes the music is spectacular
Stopped in for a quick beer. It was good.
I live in the building. Its literally in my building. The dude who tends bar is cool as can be. Im not a huge sake bomb guy but Ive got some friends who go all the time. How can I not meet them downstairs for sake. Its a cool small place with a homey vibe. Definitely worth a stop next time youre around the park.
Great atmosphere, vibes, and music. Didnt do such a good job on the jalapeno tempura. Thats okay. Sake was Great!
Wonderful experiance per usual! Came with a large group and they got the food out very quickly! So patient and kind to me even when I was not being the most patient guest! Thank you!
Cool little Sake Bar right on the lower east side. The place is really unique, though a bit cramped inside. If youre going with a moderately sized party like I had it may be tough to get everyone situated together. Other than that, the sake bombs are always super fun, and this place is a great stop on the way to or from a restaurant in the area.
Neighborhood staple. Great Japanese bar snacks, huge sake menu and they now offer apple cider sake bombs for you gluten intolerants. Its an intimate space so dont roll up with a party of 10 on a Saturday night expecting to be sat right away!
Awesome vibe great ambiance amazing sake and great bartenders and opened until 4am. So different wish we had some place like this on West coast.
My go to for good convo with small groups. Great food. Be aware: sake and beer only.
Had a fantastic evening. Perfect ambience and the staff (Austin, the Bartender) was entertaining, charming, and put up with the fact that I knew absolutely nothing about sake.
This is a good one-drink stop on a night out if you want to visit several bars. If you can get a seat in this little place, order a round of sake bombs. Theyll bring out some beers and sake shots which are precariously balanced on chopsticks until youre ready. Have your party slam the table with your fists, the shots drop in, and you drink the whole thing.
Cozy, well-ambienced, and unique, Sake Bar Satsko offers the perfect atmosphere to catch up with friends while getting drunk in a sophisticated fashion.Their food is excellent and their menu offers a wide range of app-size plates - perfect for trying several different dishes.
Best sake bar in the whole city. Cozy and cool. Excellent veggie buns and shishito peppers.
Food is so good, vibes are somehow even better
Best service and food. Sunday bartender is a sake expert. I always come to David for advice on sake
Nice atmosphere and staff. Excellent sake menu and the food was great!
Tiny, great, weird in the best way
Great drinks, food and a good casual place to chill out with friends when you are looking for low key time. Im going to go again
Great sake selection, very knowledgeable staff
Great food and saporo on tap!
Low key and it offers a nice sake list.
Great selection of sake, tasty snacks, but your order might take a while to prepare.
Small venue with fabulous service and a good sake collection.
Small and charming. Great food. AWESOME DRINKS.
Good food with fast service - which is surprising because it seemed like there were only 2 guys running the whole place.
Good atmosphere and food, but pricey.
Tiny spot with great sake selection and solid food
This place is a total original. And thats not easy in a place like New York.
Great sake collection
Good customer service and great food
Cozy place to learn about the finer points of sake.
Nice location, funny host and delicious sake!
Noah is awesome, and this sake bar is awesome.
Cute spot for a drink and a nibble!
