Sour Mouse

Sour Mouse is where I go on Sunday afternoons to listen to jazz. It’s free and thoroughly enjoyable. From 3:30 pm to 6:45 pm the music enthralls and is such fun. This is a billiard hall where there is a bar, food and lovely people.On Labor Day weekend the jam session was packed and so many open mic singers were there and the places rocked. I was thrilled to be there.

Very cheap place!The organizer is a black woman Ive recently, along with the same munitions.I gave a donation of $20, paid to the orchestra people $20 another, in order to listen Cinatra song.That woman took all MY MONEY AND DIDNT musicians to play the song!Complete BEACH!

This bar feels like a college bar! Lots of room - great for events. Staff is super cool.

We recently hosted a somewhat last minute event at the Sour Mouse to honor a dear friend who passed away. The staff was so very accommodating to our needs and we were able to have an amazing night of celebration we had access to a stage, mic, audio visual assistance for a slideshow and tons of food and drinks. After the more planned part of the night we moved over to the pool and ping tables for some fun. Our friend would have approved ❤️

Really cool space - reminds me of fat cat but with better artwork on the walls. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. Theyve also got games like connect four!

Entertaining place with ping pong, pool, soccer table and dance floor.It is a different experience than a regular bar.I will definitely go again.

Welcoming atmosphere, basement club game room. I went for the jazz night on Sunday. It was good, stayed for the comedy show. The place was full and loud and everyone having a good time.

Really great open space in Lower East Side offering hard seltzer on tap, pool and foosball. My favorite thing about this venue though is the standup comedy shows. Tuesdays at 6pm is a friendly open mic where you can practice your new bits or just watch!

Place is almost too popular for its own good. Bit of a wait if you want to play any of the games. Def will be a crowd, so either come either or find a seat and wait it out. Friendly staff though!

This place is so cool I was reluctant to write a good review because I dont want it to get too popular 🤭 jk but seriously this place is FANTASTIC omg live bands playing hits while you pool, or play ping pong , staff is friendly and on point. Ngl I think this is the best pool hall I ever been to 👌🏽👌🏽

Great place to hangout. Have stumbled upon comedy and jam session nights here, and in terms of variety there’s pool, table tennis, foosball, you name it.

Showed up for an event. Great ambiance. Good game options (ping pong, foosball, and pool). It’s definitely on the small side, and it got pretty crowded. The beer selection is pretty great. Didn’t get to try them, but considering how much beer was being served, I know it has to taste good. The place definitely needs a coat rack, with someone to check them in, to avoid them from getting stolen or mistakenly swapped. Overall, it’s a chilled place. No complaints.

Nothing better than some jazz while you’re shooting pool! The league teams here are friendly and competitive, and there are non-alcoholic beer options for those trying to cut back! There are also plenty of other games, including ping pong, foosball, and an assortment of others.

Great place to hang, but then DJs came on, blasted the volume up, and no one could hear each other. People left in droves. Fix that and its a 5 star review

Cool spot! This spot is so cool that if it were a person it wouldnt even be friends with me. They got ping pong. They got beer. They got comedy shows. Yeah it makes me feel like a worthless worm every time I go. So definitely go there and put in a good word for me so that they like me. Oh my God Im so lonely.

I blame management entirely for what I am about to say-Came to this place for a comedy show and the line for the bar was so long people were waiting 45 minutes or more to order. There was only one bartender on for a very popular up-and-coming comedian who obviously sells a lot of tickets for each show and this size of a crowd was not a surprise. I ordered a pizza that came out ice cold because the staff were so overwhelmed. Like- the cheese was refrigerator-level cold. I was charged for two drinks I never got and I stopped asking for them because I felt bad for the overwhelmed staff. There was a bar-back guy who was standing around while the bartender struggled with the crowd, I know how food service works so I get that he legally could not help her but man- Whose horrible idea was it to only staff one bartender that night? She looked like she was going to cry and tbh if I had been her I probably would have walked out. Idk if this was just a randomly understaffed night or if management regularly puts their staff through this, but yikes. It gave me flashbacks of a restaurant I worked in where they started us short to save money and forced us to work illegally off the clock or be fired. The other reviews look good so maybe this was just a random bad night, but it was baaaaad y’all

Great atmosphere and good drinks! I definitely recommend Malibu Bay breeze and south beer ipa 8% tastes really good. Great music as well!

Amazing experience/ambaiance and amazing cocktails.I was unsure of what drink to get and the bartender had recommended the CAIPIRINHA which was amazing. Definitely a must visit!!!

I went here for an industry party. Invite only event where we had to lock up our phones. The vibe was so chill. They want you to network so they have pool tables, ping pong tables, floor model connect four, Jenga games and more! The djs did they thang. A mix of all music. The first bartender did good with the drinks, but the second one was kind of light handed with the alcohol. They serve bar food but only had pizza on this particular night, which sucked because I dont eat pizza, so I left hungry. People danced mingled, played games and enjoyed themselves in an artsy environment. Id go back if invited and pray they have something I can eat the next time around.

Already in the area with my boyfriend we found this gem of a pool hall/lounge. There have games like ping pong, pool, even foosball. The best of the night happened to be the GIANT CONNECT FOUR. I think we tied, were competitive.It was a Thursday night around 11PM, not crowded at all. Perfect for what we were looking for .... old fashion fun. I did notice a stage with a guitar and drum set soooo they definitely have live performances. Will definitely be back. The best thing about this place is you can come and play games essentially for free.We hit up the bar for a shot and had a great conversation with the bartender. Great place, great people.

I had a decent time! I’m not sure how every other day is but there doesn’t seem to be much action here. On the dance floor 🕺🏽💃🏽 me and my friend when we went definitely turned that floor up, the DJ was even taking requests! Also, they have a decent variety of games! I had a weird encounter here with another patron but that is no fault of the bar! Some Men are just gross.

Their bar staff has slow service and a couple of times they messed up the charges when I came with a group, using multiple credit cards for seperate drink orders and game table fees. Last time I was here, it was for a work party where the whole place was supposed to be hours for the day, but they seemed to have double booked us as a jazz band came in and kicked us out of the stage area and nearby booths for their show, and they cut off our music too. My boss was pissed lol

The DJ is amazing!!!Played various genres of music to get the crowd going. Went with my daughter last night. Although most of the crowd was her age, I still had fun but thats because Im the chill mom and shes only 15 years younger than me. I recommend for all the 21-30/35 crowds and the chill moms aged 43. Drinks are good and strong too

Very fun place with a lot of ping pong tables, pool tables, and other games. Great atmosphere with some really comfortable couches. Good selection of alcohol drinks and very friendly staff. Would definitely go back there.

Such a great vibe, went for Ashley Gavin’s comedy show on Sunday night at 8 pm. So funny! The bar was super cool too with games, good drinks, and very nice bar staff. I definitely recommend!

Excellent place to chill out and dance too. They have beer pong, pool tables, great music and tasty drinks (I specially loved a drink that has ginger in it). They dont serve strong liquor, but it isnt even necessary, youll have a great time.

This place has a variety of events along with different games, including pool, foosball, ping pong, and board games. My friend attended a speed dating event here and said it was a good time. When I arrived, they had a DJ who was playing a variety of music, and the crowd was dancing and having a great time.The drinks were pretty mediocre for the most part and overpriced unless you come here for happy hour. I love lychee martinis, and the one from here was just ok. They only added one lychee, I wish they would have added at least 2. If youre into overpriced games, this is a spot that you will probably enjoy.

Really cool vibes and feels like youre hanging out in your best friends basement hanging out like the good old days. They have a bunch of pool tables and even ping pong. They have a bar, a few food options and a stage for musical performances. Overall really awesome place to hangout and shoot pool or play ping pong. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner but not a super big deal.

Great atmosphere and fun games! Very nicely decorated for Halloween and had a good time meeting people for one of the social events. Would recommend!

Dont buy any handmade drinks. Only if it comes in a bottle or can.

Such a fun place with chill owners. We got there right around opening time so it wasn’t busy. The space is big and you can take your pick in billiards, ping pong, table football, connect four. Price is reasonable too, overall great vibes 👍👌🔥

My friend and I went in this past Wednesday night just to hang out and chill. While it had some people it wasnt a pack bar in the sense that youd see during the weekend, at most 15 people. So while we waited over 15/20 mins even when calling for the bartender we didnt get a response other than that the other bartender will get us. As we waited and tried to give the benefit of the doubt, the other bartender proved to be worse with other patrons. Patrons that already got drinks he was telling them to wait when they requested their bill as he was just at the bar the whole time serving only one other person, yet the whole time there he had ignored my friend and I the entire time we sitting there. Even though its a nice location, the service was severely lacking and I would definitely not recommend this place to others.

Good place to have a joy with friend. They offer comedy stand ups, live music, ping pong, billiards and football tables. Prices are reasonable. I just do not recommend their beer cocktails. It doesn’t tastes good for me and for my friends as well.

Pretty good place to hang out and play pool. The staff is nice, and the place has very cool design. But couple things to keep in mind:Online info is incorrect. Their Happy Hour finishes at 6, not 7.The food menu is not right too, it says they have cheese and meat plates, but in reality they only have signature pizzas for $15, and its ok, everybody loves pizza but I swear it was the worst pizza Ive ever had. It was cold, dry and I only felt marinara and no cheese at all. I understand that this is not a restaurant, but still if people come here to play games and hang out for couple hours you have to offer some good snacks. Cause when customers have good food to eat, they will be ordering more drinks too. So its a win for everybody

Such a fun location! DJ Kyon made the night and is very professional and friendly! The venue is clean and upbeat with lots of activities (pool, darts, etc.) and great drinks. There’s a big dance floor and lots of diverse clients. Plenty of room to sit and eat too if you want an intimate conversation. Great spot!

Live music performances, happy hour, beer pong, well priced drinks?! What more could you ask for? Couches for a more laid back, comfortable feel, amazing space. Great place to bring your friends for after work drinks and to enjoy an amazing evening! Love going to Sour Mouse on Saturday evenings for the live performances!

Actually very cute venue. Pool tables and things to do. I had a delicious amaretto sour. I would say that their choice of DJs was very not good, as on the day I went the DJs spent an uncomfortable amount of time speaking instead of playing music. I think the place has a lot of potential and but may need to do a lot more to begin to compete with the vast amount of other nightclubs in nyc

Would be great if music, DJ, who apparently is NOT there all the time ( thank god), wasnt So Loud. He should have brought volume down. He didnt care about peoples ear health. He had headphones. This was a Sat. Night. Our group couldn’t talk to each other. Wear ear plugs. I’m sure we have ear damage. There are other types of live bands at Sour, which probably play less loud. This was Saturday. Update since May: I do have permanent ear tinnitus from that night. I’m very disappointed. My life is changed forever. Hope management has kept DJ in check since then. I should have spoken up or left, but no one would hear me anyway.

Sour mouse is a great place to being your friends to drink and hang out. They have a variety of games like pool, ping pong, beer pong and board games. Highly recommended!

Bianca is the best bartender I have ever had. She gave us amazing service. She was patient with us with our many questions and she even has own special drinks that she can make you. My favorite is the BiancaMintini...it will change your life.

Great place for cheap fooseball! Literally a quarter (25c) of the price of the place next door to our hotel

Walked into the place was amazed and blown away by the great jazz music from the live band in house. Approached the bar the lady who was working was having an in depth conversation with a co-worker this lasted about six minutes.I waited patiently then was acknowledged by the lady I then asked for a table she informed me there were no tables available even though there were four empty tables not being used was asked to place my name on a waiting list. After about five more minutes I was given a table. I attempted to order 2 mojitos for me and my date I was informed there was no more mojitos, instead of her offering up another drink selection she took her time to help another customer who happened to be Caucasian and totally ignored Myself and my date I asked for my ID back and left immediately. Her customer service was horrible and it seemed like she was bothered helping someone who was black. Its sad to say in an age where people are trying to change things this still happen this blatant racism and ill manner. This young lady cost you a potential customer I will be following up with the proper news agency and the manager as well about my experience on 11/14/22 at 9:10 pm.

Food is really good. The atmosphere is pretty cool. Came here for an event so I didnt get to see it in a regular day flow. However I enjoyed my time at this location.

This place is really cool! Ping pong, pool, amazing art, good drinks and pizza — a great combo for a fun night out. I also loved that they were super safe when it came to Covid-19 protocol (they took my temperature upon arrival and continuously sanitized the entire room while I was there). I can’t wait to come back again.

A unique bar with games and billiards. Personal pizzas (10) are the only food you can buy off the menu, priced a but expensive at $16, and though I didnt partake, if you factor in that it is Manhattan, its reasonable for a single meal. Their Ginger Beer is great alternative to Ginger Ale. Hope to return.

Its underground like and full of tables. It is such a fun vibe pregame spot for friends. My biggest complaint is that they have a membership plan for free which you can get discounts for drink or games but its Iphone users only. I felt a little hurt but I still had a good time here. The drink are standard. I do not recommend the lychee martini or cosmo. It is college hangout spot for sure.

Super chill and modern game hall for date night or group hang out, the place is huge so everyone is spaced safely apart. They have pool, ping pong, beer pong, board games, and a line up of local artists so make sure to follow them on IG to find out whos playing. The walls are lined with art pieces for sale, so in a way, its also an art gallery.

Pretty good but I started to walk around after drinking and they made a super big deal about it almost kicked me out for just pacing(I have ADHD). Really weird but otherwise cool atmosphere.

This place is diagonally across from Essex market! Got some pretty cool artworks, lots of seatings, pool tables, ping pong tables, foosball, beer pong and board games and live music on specific days and time Im sure theres more stuff you can do here but basically bottom line a cool place to just hang out, or go on a date and play some games instead of staring at each other in the face and asking your long list of interview questions.. Happy hour special is from 4pm to 6pm on specific days.

Place is always a lit place to be, I dont think Ive ever been there before where it wasnt packed and filled with laughter. You can play beerpong, pool, Foosball, or just chill and enjoy live misic. Highly recommend this place for everyone!

I attended a private event here and had a great time. The service was friendly and swift. The Foosball tables are in excellent condition. Probably the best tables in the city.

I’m here with friends and the DJ wanted to fight me because I asked for a song. He rudely rejected my request. I politely gave him some DJing advice and he started yelling at me in front of my friends. I felt threatened. I would give them a zero, but that’s not possible, so I’ll give them a 1.

Was a nice spot when it first opened. Now they let anyone perform bringing a disrespectful crowd. Over packed not being mindful covid-19 still exist. No space too shoot pool.

Comfortable bar, a lot of games available is great and fun. Where to sit and play is not so Comfortable, not many seating options for those board games. The music is good, the dj on particular day (Saturday) was ok. The beer is cold 🥶. Its a great bar to vibe, play some games and end the night.

Sour Mouse has a neat vibe with good decorations, a bunch of pool, ping pong and Foosball tables and board games. They have a really good drink menu, and their bartenders worked hard and were friendly. When it got crowded, it did seem like they needed more bartenders, as the wait got really long.

Bouncer on some strange ego trip on sat night, April 2024. Too lazy or maybe illiterate to check foreign international IDs and turned us away. Never had an issue with us going out. Expect everyone to be a local with a state ID? Came in with a mix group of Americans and foreigners but we dipped. “Need a state Id, we’re holding up the line“ we weren’t even being rude, he was just plain condescending.Lullaby’s down the road and gulstanfel are better options. Frankly any place lol. I’d skip and so will everyone else and extended groups we come out with. What a waste of air.

It is a cozy place to go and have drinks. Also, it has a lot of pool tables and ping pong, which is a good addition for people to enjoy.

I had a large group surprise birthday party here this past Saturday and couldnt have asked for a better time - very cool spot. Its spacious with plenty of fun activities for everyone (pool, ping pong, chess, dancing...etc).Sammi helped me through the planning/organizing stage and was even there that night to help us make the actual celebration unforgettable. My friends and I will definitely be back!

Come and watch or play at jazz jams on sundays or Blues Jams on tuesdays with house band. Always free entrance and very friendly personell. You can also play billiards or various other games, connect with friends face to face.

No frills bar, live music and entertainment, pool tables, fooze ball, some random games and ping pong. You have to know this place otherwise youd never notice it. Drinks priced reasonably and good place to link with groups of friends.

Came for the foosball but it was a ghost town at the tables like always. No one plays anymore!! Had a few beers and destroyed by good natured wife six games in a row. She’s a trooper.

Fun place to have a couple drinks with friends. It has a good atmosphere and ample space to dance and walk around.That being said, the pool / ping pong table management is awful. Patrons abuse their time and you’re left waiting for hours on end with no updates. The music could be better, too.

The menu is full of typos. Don Perignon? Veuve cliequot? Is this supposed to be ironic?

Security was incredibly unprofessional to an extent I’ve never seen in a bar before. After our sectioned off area expired, we went to a different part of the venue. When I noticed I left my jacket and asked the current occupants of the sectioned off area we had (who were totally cool), security abruptly threatened to kick me out in spite of me just saying I was getting my coat as I was leaving anyway. The group who found my jacket in the section apologized to me for the security guards super unprofessional behavior because there was genuinely no reason to accost a guest for just retrieving an item of theirs.

Regular at this location. Decided to go on a Thursday with a group. Didnt feel very welcome as per usual. Bartender working that night was rushing us to order drinks and every time we would go to the bar they didnt seem like they wanted to serve us and/or were impatient.

This is a great first date bar. There is pool, table tennis, and other entertainments options available. Lots of sitting area. People are nice and staff is amazing. Its dark and cozy so you will have lots privacy

Came here with my wife on a double date and had a great time. Fun place to play ping pong or pool and there is pretty solid bar. The bar has a full menu and their is a good selection of liquors. Live music also.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Staff gave us the wrong pool table and forced us to move after the game has already started. Please work on your internal communication, it is a disaster for your customers. Avoid at all cost if you’re looking for a good time.

Super fun spot! Went there on a Tuesday night. It was busy but not crowded. you can quickly get a pool or ping pong table with your group of friends. You dont have to wait long to get a drink, which was a plus!!! They had a live band with a pianist who worked for Madonna! The crowd was mixed and ranged from 25-45 years old.You must get the lychee martini! It was not overly sweet or strong. Super yummy. I probably had 5 of those. I wish I had tried their food/snacks too. The womens bathroom was clean! Perfect spot to bring a date here or with a small group of friends on a weekday after dinner.The Fung Brothers, youtube influencers are regulars there. We happened to see them there. My son and I were in one of their videos when they featured Carols bun as one of the Chinatown cheap eats. The owner, Aaron was so nice and asked if we wanted to meet them and take a shot with them.I heard the weekends can be busy so the crowd/experience might be different.

Cool spot and actually has a few pros over cellar dog.Pros over cellar dog:- free water available for you to get yourself instead of waiting on bartenders- not as crowded- use wait-list with texts (was at cellar dog last week and they were doing first come first serve. Stupid system change)- not as crowded at all- has beer pong but good luck getting on the tableCool spot that should definitely be checked out.

Loved a live band after so long without one!

25 an hour for pool or ping pong is not bad. Got here mid day when it wasnt busy and it was great. Vibes got a little obnoxious when it got busier though.

Been here a few times (including opening day). Love this place, great date night, or even going to hang out with your friends and meet new people. I love the live music, the only reason it’s not 5 stars is the volume of the music. At the Bar or seating by the pong tables, you can’t hear the person right next to you. The music is great just needs to be turned down a bit so I can talk to the people I’m with/ the ones I’m meeting

The owner Erin is amazing. We had so much fun here! Happy hour beer pitcher for only $20 and they let you play ping pong for an hour. Great music! Highly recommend.

I went to this place on a Monday night. I didnt realize that they were going to be talking about crypto. I to great interest in the conversation of the guests that they had. I couldnt believe how interesthing and how this whole thing changed my mind and I want to be a part of this I look forward. To everyone that I have met on that evening. It was just a fluke me and my girlfriend were going to play some pool and she decided to come to this place and when I heard the guy chanting. Crypto Mondays it gave me some type of interest of seeing what was going on in there and as I walk over to the area I realized what they were. Talking about and it just kept my excitement in my attention. This happens every monday the guy told Me I told them how can I. Be? A part of the community cause it seems to be a great community. This place is great. It has so many games to play and there are meetup group or event held at this place more often. it has live music and drinks are greatI had a great time eating with friends and enjoy the food. The music is just too loud sometimes. it hard to have a conversation there

Literally the worst service ever. Tried to double charge us for drinks In addition to trying to overcharge me and my boyfriend after a game of pool. Without the bartenders trying to scam you an hour of pool is $40 which is a scam within itself. 0/5

Chill spot if you get there early enough before the weekend crowd. Luckily, there’s plenty of space once the place starts to get more full. The staff were friendly and drinks were good despite not serving hard alcohol.

The place is cool overall, but they overcharged me by $20 but no one at the bar seemed to care and apparently they didn’t have a manager.So instead of going back and forth with rude bar tenders, I called the bank and disputed the entire charge.

Such a huge beer selection and reasonable prices for games including pool and table tennis. A lot of art on the walls and tons of events here from comedy to meetings to music. I’ve been here for a bunch of different events.

Love going here. They never have any cover fee, the bartenders are very friendly, and there’s lots of activities to do so my friends and I never get bored. They got pool, ping pong, foosball, beer pong, and a dance floor. It’s my go-to bar to take friends visiting the city!

Was there last week I wasnt impress with the service with Barara if Google have zero star that would rate her service! This is my first time here. The place is great with the games they offer. The music, not so much. The band that is playing now is quite boring and just makes the place feel boring. Left after 30 minutes.

Good place / vibe, but if youre going to be here for awhile fri-sun, bring your fat wallet. Way more expensive than its worth. $15 for a pizza which is basically a slice and $40/hr for pool.

Security is incredibly unprofessional and almost started a physical altercation over my friend who is in a wheelchair taking too long in the bathroom. Lawyers will be getting involved.

Comedy show was awesome. Pizza was okay but the rest of the vibe of the place was so nice!
