I didn’t enjoy any of the cocktails I ordered - especially for $19 a pop. Orient Express around the corner is a much better option.
Great little spot! A go-to for a casual hang but can also be a perfect start to a night out. They have a well curated selection of craft beers and wines - plus some liquor selection. John helped us pick out our beers and they were all excellent so have to give him a shout!Would be a cute little before or after drink for a date too.
Great time there Sunday night with Lee! Shes friendly, quick and attentive; she definitely had everything running smooth and chill. A hidden gem in the West Village. Heard about here through a friend of mine and all I can say I was not misinformed at all. Thanks again Lee A.
Great service....but not a comfortable stool to sit on. Yeah, theyre all rickety, said the manager. This place is falling apart: time to invest in some basic comforts like chairs that your customers will want to sit on! There are too many other (comfortable) spots to have a drink in the neighborhood to rest on your laurels, The Other Room. Jeez!
Very vibey place, with the side benches and low chairs in the back room; really an intimate spot and perfect for date night. Found the staff to be very friendly. Its more of a chill place than upscale, which can be a nice change of pace. Only knock is that the cocktails are kind of one-note; tasty but nothing special about them, so if youre going for that wow drinking experience, this isnt it. But if you want each others company to be the star, this is a great choice.
Otherroom must be the darkest bar in Manhattan. If that’s what you’re looking for (and there are reasons it might be), this is your place. The cocktails aren’t bad, but are nothing special. It’s main draws (other than dim lighting) is that it’s easy to get in and there aren’t many bars of that size that far West in the Village.
The Otheroom is a vibe. I was brought here on a first date (that failed) but I continue to visit because the atmosphere and service are so good. The chairs could use a revamp, but that’s only if you sit at the bar. There’s a huge couch in the back that can sit like 4 couples and candle lit and dark you can easily sneak a kiss. The otheroom is worth the journey that far west, trust me.
Bartender was extremely rude to the point where it ruined the experience of the place. Consider investing more in making it a more comfortable and friendlier experience.
I loved the drinks and atmosphere - however, when I asked for a drink menu the waiter was very rude and just said “look at the wall and figure it out”
Very average bar, no beer on tap, and cocktails are pretty average. Nothing spectacular. No table service.
Everything I expected. Its a famous jazz supper club. Okay drinks. Food better than expected. Little tables, packed-to-the-gills with 8 people! The music volume is not too loud. Best jazz performers in the world aspire to this place.Tip: if its a hot performance, do all you can to get priority seating. We did it with an Amex card reservation and booking farrrrrrrr in advance. Otherwise: plan on being packed like sardines and standing at the bar. Suckers.
Good vibe. Decent cocktails and beers. The server was friendly. Come early to get a seat. This place is packed by 6:30 pm
Best place in the city for drinks! Dimly lit and super romantic. Ask the best bartender Dario to make you the great skinny margarita you’ll ever have!
Weeknight date spot, beer and wine.Music is too loud (not painful, but have to shout), drinks a bit pricey, wine is good selection and ok but not great quality, couples-focused (tables for 2), no liquor. Not your local drinking hole, but good for an intimate date.
Nice place, a little off the beaten path so not so crowded. Nice variety of cocktails, drinks and wine. Comfortable low light ambiance
Really delicious drinks, amazing atmosphere and staff was super friendly. Would recommend for anyone/ groups looking for a casual night out with a cozy atmosphere.
Cool small bar, not busy on sundays. Bar tender is super nice. No food here but you can order if you want.
Ive been to a lot of bars, and this one has one of the best energies Ive seen. Also amazing cocktails!
A ridiculously overpriced place with too much attitude. The drink prices are higher than what is on the sample menu on the website. A $19 cheese plate is served with a selection of 4 tiny morsels of cheese.
Not a huge selection of drinks, but amazing music (kind of indie, old school) and vibe
Self involved bartender with his fhag about his latest flirt. I was sitting there in front of you waiting to order for 5 mins. This isnt jersey buddy! Nor do you own the bar.
Dark and intimate. Definitely a date night hot spot. Beer and wine only, great selections. Music can get loud at times.
Small, but good for a stop and quick drink if one of the two stools outside is open. Very cave-like, small, and dark inside.
Your mom and her mom and she will come over later this weekend if you wanna is that time for you pick up something for me please let us be sure we will get to the place that I have a little more stuff and then we go hang with you guys for a little bit I don’t know what to say to me lol I’m sorry but you know what you wanna I like you so I can do that I don’t know if y’all have any good friends that you like to me or you go to get me and then we hang up on the food lol I don’t want you guys I wanna was the hang out I just got home so I’ll text ya when y’all have time I wanna is a time for you pick me up and go get food I got food I just want something like you like me I want to go to get it and then I hang out with you guys and wyyyyyy ok thanks just don’t do it again
One of our favorite bars for a low-key drink or a romantic rendezvous with a hefty wine selection and an extensive list of beers!
Solid spot, always the right amount of people 🫣
Great atmosphere for a chill night out or small gathering with friends. Even better cocktails!
Cute local beer/wine bar, love that it’s a more small intimate experience!
Very date-y vibe. The drinks were stiff and I loved them! The place was fairly dim-lit and was perfect. If you sit in the backroom, you might have a lot of people going in and out of the restroom. The restrooms are candle-lit only (no other source of light). There is no food here.
This is a cozy spot for a glass of wine. Great for dates, but not the first one, since its a little too romantic for meeting strangers.
Small, dark & cosy cocktail bar with a chilled music vibe & attentive service.
Cavernous and cozy, this low key basement bar has a quality drink selection and a number of unusual bottled craft beers
Yum good spot
Great vibe, very relaxed and intimate spot! Perfect for a date or a small group.
Incredible, low key atmosphere, great song selection, and perfect beer list.
Great atmosphere ....good music...lax and laid back...they even had stone ipa from san diego county...
Nice low-key wine/beer lounge worth stopping by if in the area.
Cozy and dark but not divey. Good selection of wine and beer.
Staff isnt half bad, love the small quiet space. Great for a conversation.
Firstly I have been here before and had great experiences. On Friday I ordered a glass of the chardonay from the 5 or so options listed on the menu, when I went to pay I noticed they were charging $16, so I nicely pointed out the board lists the price as $12. The bartender took the bill and looked at it and he said “oh I gave you the more expenive wine” he then grabs the glass out of my hand as i am LITERALLY drinking it! He makes a point to pour it down the drain (the drink I have already been drinking…which was his mistake) and refill my glass with the $12 wine. I was so in shock I did not know how to react. I felt violated. When I look at my credit card charge later I noticed he added an ADDITIONAL 25% tip on the original charge. I have lived in NYC a long time and am patient with bartenders, but this was the worst experiece I have had with one in NY and I will never ever return to this place, and I highly recommend you don’t either.Calling it now…this place will have its doors shut within the next year. Say hello to The Never Room
Great cozy bar, very intimate with fantastic music!
Such a cute date spot complete with mood lighting! They’ve truly mastered an atmosphere here. The bartenders were also so, so cool and nice. One of them looks like Jim from the office if you want something close to a celebrity sighting. Overall great experience thank you!
Great place to unwind. Amazing selection of beers
The Dog Days Are Starting.
Ive been here three times, and two out of the three it was because every other bar in this area was packed. Dont get me wrong: this isnt a last resort type of place. Far from it -- literally, its kind of far to get to from the main thoroughfare of the West Village. It might look like its packed on the outside (especially on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening), but usually you can find seats inside. The place has an interesting set up. Theres a sleek leather booth running along one entire wall with three tables. These are probably the prime seats in the house, so to speak. The space is bigger than it looks on the outside, but you can tell theyre not trying to maximize real estate to cram more people in. They are really all about creating that intimate vibe. Great date place.Drinks are on the pricey side. Cocktails run from $15-18 last time I checked, but they are a better deal, in my opinion, than wine. For a couple of bucks more you get a delicious concoction that is STRONG. Have gotten the Negroni and the Old-Fashioned. Both are excellent. You can nurse one drink all night and feel very good walking out.
Met the 2 loves of my life here. My man and his dog.
Intimate, low lit, casual and reasonably priced West Village bar, with a counter area and a few nooks in the back. Cocktails, beer and wine options are listed on a blackboard and kind service. Seems perfect for dates!
NOT A SAFE BAR FOR WOMENThis is really creepy. A close friend was there last night on a Bumble date and she noticed her drink tasted off and there was something like an undissolved pill in the bottom of her drink. She convinced her date roofied her with assistance from the bartender. Fortunately she noticed and she’s okay. Be careful at this bar.
Nice, comfy and rather sexy spot. Sort of romantic too & not loud. Yet the music is horrible. The bartender struggles a bit with keeping up with orders. No pics needed.
Great local place to relax with friends. Not a wild and crazy bar. Only serves wine and beer. Low lighted, candle lit atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Lost my debit card and emailed them; they communicated super efficiently and gave me piece of mind that my card was safe with them. Didnt overcharge my card for leaving it there. Recommended stop on your places to see in West Village!
Great, secluded, small bar. Perfect for a date or one-on-one conversations
One of my absolute favorite beer and wine spots in lower Manhattan! Staff is kind and tentative.Great environment. A few more available seats would be helpful, but all in all a great bar!
Intimate, not super expensive, good music and great bartenders. It was really crowded on a Friday night though.
Great local neighborhood bar - now with cocktails! Ive been coming here for years and have always loved the beer and wine selection and cozy atmosphere. The bartenders are friendly, and now theyve got a full liquor license and cocktails!
Fun social vibe to come with a group of friends but the drink options were lacking for non-beer drinkers. Plus the bathrooms were tiny and disgusting.
Nice date place. Great music.
I wanted to rate this higher. I really love this venue and the drinks and location because it’s romantic, dark, tucked away, not crowded. But we had a negative altercation with some other patrons in this bar who were trying to start fights with the bartender, it was just uncomfortable.
It wante to be a dark edgy hangout for artists in the west village I feel like, because it is literally almost pitch black in the restaurant at all times. Its usually pretty busy so it seems most people love it.
Great bar. A dark room, but has a very distinct aura and feel to the place. Loved it here. I enjoyed my time, some of the people were a little loud and nuts but the bar was great.
Cozy. Classy. Tiny. Beerish.
Cute and cozy little bar tucked on a side street in West village. Decent selection of American craft beers, though it appears to be more popular with winos. The music was a bit loud though.
Quiet local spot to hang. Good selection of wine and beers. Not stuffy or clubby.
Nice beer and wine selection, great ambiance. Chill, but pleasantly active on a Tuesday night. Great music, could listen all night.
My go to bar in the West Village. Perfect ambience and extensive wine list. They just added a cocktail menu - their Manhattan is my favorite.
About as divey as a bar will get in Manhattan in the 21st century. Great beer list. Low key vibes. Very dark room. Good music. Can get pretty packed on the weekends.
Love this local spot. Amazing beer selections, cozy inside. Knowledgeable bartenders
Super low-key date spot. Dim, intimate, tables are lit by candles.
I really do love this place, though the bartenders can be a tad elitist (borderline rude) they are still tolerable and serve the drinks quick. What I like the most about this place is the atmosphere, its very dark and cozy - its a place to hide from the hustle and bustle of the world and enjoy some classy intimacy. Great beer and wine selection too... Bartenders: cheer up darlings, we are people too!
Showed up for a drink before dinner and had the pleasure of being harassed by a couple of drunk private equity folks. Openly doing drugs at the bar and bragging about who their daddy is, bartender had lots of empty threats but ultimately seemed intimidated by this trash. Find me a good dive bar where that situation gets self regulated. They get one star because clearly they take AMEX.
Perfect little hidden gem, great atmosphere
Favorite winebar in Manhattan. Far out of the way and extremely intimate. Great place for a lowkey night. Red wine selection is amazing and worth exploring. Very dark inside.
Cute romantic spot. Dim lights. Great drinks. Great people.
Drinks are only ok and super overpriced (not worth it in my opinion)
Loved everything about it and the bartender Vinnie was greatest
Great little spot with a solid beer & wine list, and small full liquor selection.
Nice selection of beer, wine and some liquor. Atmosphere is laid back and dim lights
Very cozy, intimate interior with friendly bar staff (Marc and Vinny)
Nice cozy dark place for drinks! Came on a Saturday night, music was playing pretty loud and it was hard to hear sometimes, but it was definitely a lovely atmosphere. I recommend coming on the earlier side to guarantee seats, otherwise you might be left standing on a Friday or Saturday night. And if youre ever in Venice, seems like this place has a location there as well.
Im torn on this one. Its an amazing space. But its very crowded and the drinks are $17 each.
It’s sad when a small business would rather lose a customer than do the right thing. Live right around the corner but won’t be back. Just disappointing
This place is small and dark and calm and has good beers on tap. Recommended.
Wait staff for some reason always seem angry / hostile. Would skip it
My favorite little bar in NYC. I love how dark it is!
Very lookal bar, I guess good dating place
Very dark place, lighten by candels. Good music, Not too loud. A large choice of beers (Belgian beers as well)
Awesome atmosphere and fantastic upbeat 80s techno-ish music.
Great quaint bar with good beer and wine selection.
Solid beer selection and nice, relaxed atmosphere
Great relaxing place to grab a drink near the water.
Great little bar in the West Village - especially the room at the back (although it can get crowded on weekends). Beer and Wine only, but theres a great selection of both.
Great for cocktails with Bond villains.
Cozy spot with a nice beer and wine list.
Great bar. Surly bartender.
Very great enjoyable place, i like this place.
This is exactly what I want in a low key spot
Very cool, so dark though
Dark little bar, very sexy.
Cozy...good drinks
Awesome atmosphere!
Darker than a Fever Ray album.
Great place to stop and get a drunk
Dario’s great!
Finally a bar I can get on board with.
Great wine list
Great atmosphere, friendly
A great hole in the wall.
Good
Cole was great!
Great beer selection
Great locals neighborhood spot
Amazing food and service
Great little spot.
The chairs are wobbly
My kinda spot!
A favorite.
Spent a great night here with Boris, fresh from a divorce filing, and Ryan, mid-marital skirmish but lucky to live a block away. Convenient, right? Perfectly moody lighting, great wine, and just the right vibe for airing grievances. Who needs therapy when you have The Otheroom?
