Top of the Strand Rooftop Bar

The best part about this spot is the view. You can see for miles, and the skyline is incredible. The drinks are also very strong, so be careful!The food is fantastic as well. I ordered the chicken, and it was cooked to perfection. The service was great, and the staff was very friendly.I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great time.

The Rooftop Bar has a pretty cool atmosphere, good music, great cocktails and you have a great view of the New York skyline specially the Empire State Building. I like it here, its fun.

We came around 9:30 on a Sunday night and it wasn’t crowded. We had front row views to the Empire Stage Building. It wasn’t a packed rooftop bar where you have to look over people to catch see the city lights. It was a chill vibe with great music. It’s a great place to meet a group of friends in their lounge area as well as a romantic date.I ordered the Machu Pisco which was great!!! It was worth the $18 - they put a New York design of the Manhattan skyline on my drink. I would say this is a great low key gem on Sunday night. Big plus - the bathroom was clean

The bar is closed on Sundays, but guests of the Hotel are still able to use the space. We took some snacks and drinks to enjoy the view! The roof is retractable, so its a great place to come when the weather is good.

Access to the bar is through the Marriott and despite having a reservation the doorman wasnt keen on letting us in. First he tried to tell us our teenagers werent allowed in and then when his colleague corrected him he asked to see our vaccination certificates. We duly produced them but then he wanted ID to verify them. My husband and I had ours with us but I wasnt carrying the kids ID with me. He happily denied us entry and informed me every establishment in New York would insist on the same thing (in fact nowhere else during our entire time in NYC asked for our vaccination certificates let alone ID to verify them with).We left and were standing outside when his colleague decided to let us in.The bar is nicely done with a great view and the staff upstairs were friendly and professional. Drinks are priced okay considering the location but there is only a small bar snack menu.Just a shame about the totally unnecessary drama to be let in.

Elio and Shawn were the best. They were so attentive and fun to be around. They made my first experience to NY a great one. The bar and restaurant are beautiful and DJ Ooochild was on fire. Such a relaxing and calming atmosphere.

Breathtaking views and great cocktails. Its true that the dress code here is quite strict, especially when its crowded, but unless you are trying to get in with your cargos or nikes, youll be ok.

Dont know if they usually have a kitchen, but when we got there at 11pm it was already closed. So we loved the view, but left right away in search of food. Well be back to take in the view of the Empire state, which truly is unobstructed!

Had a terrible experience with the service. After being sat, we were ready to order within 5-10 min. We were waiting an additional 10+ min for someone to come to our table. When I tried flagging down a waitress, she gave us a mean look and continued moving and helping other guests. She was a blonde waitress that was working on Thursday night. After it was clear that we weren’t gonna be served, we left after 25 minutes. Terrible experience. Definitely not coming back

Im a kid so I cant have the beer. But the complimentary popcorn was really good!The hotel is also about two blocks from the empire state building so I got some really cool nighttime shots of it.

The view is absolutely breathtaking! The menu is good. Went to this place twice. The place was pretty quiet around 7PM, but became very busy at around 9PM. Also noticed a lot of tourists (not surprised! the Empire State Building view is outstanding).

Place is often booked for corporate events so check when you want to go. Retractable roof makes the unobstructed view onto the Empire State Building a 4 seasons affair. A good choice drink selection and nibbles.

I have never been to a place lacking customer service worse than this one. When we first went in a couple of us girls decided the air conditioner was cold so we moved. Well evidently they didnt like the fact that we were separated. So we had to move back to our original spot. Then the guy didnt come and take our order. One of the people we were sitting with went and got our drinks. I would definitely give this a one,it is horrible, horrible ,horrible customer service. Definitely would not go back here. The only good thing I have to say about it is the view

Small rooftop bar. Not enough space for the number of patrons that they take. Also the drinks are super expensive. I had a dirty Shirley which is just a Shirley temple with some vodka and it was $25 after tax and already included gratuity. Thats insane. But the view was really nice. Point being Ive been to nicer rooftop bars with the same view.

On holiday and came here for some drinks before my 40th birthday meal. Poor service, and really sarcastic moody guy serving us. He was very gruff with me and my wife the moment we walked in. I asked him if he could take a photo of me and my wife and he just mumbled something like photos arent for free and stormed off like wed really offended him. Needless to say we stayed for one drink only and got out as quickly as possible. He did to be fair ask the band to play me a happy birthday song, and the band added a good vibe to the place, and views are good of the Empire State Building.

Great bar vibe, view of the Empire, and a bartender that really takes his craft seriously. They bring in some great local bands playing all sorts of music. Highly recommend making a visit.

Great spot for a cocktail and a view! Unobstructed view of the Empire State Building, and there is a view of the ESB from every corner of the bar. Several seating options, including a lounge area, high tops, small tables, and bar stools along the window. The roof is closed in cold months, it it’s opened during warm months to give patrons an even better view. Apps available. Prices are reasonable and service was good!

Cocktails and savoury bites are great. Cheesecake is frozen (not fresh), one can skip the desserts. Amazing atmosphere.

I went for the view and was not disappointed. I give them 4 stars because even if we did have a reservation, we had to wait about 20mins for them to give us a table. Prices were ok and there was live music (nice Spanish guitar). Next time I visit NY, I’m probably going to go back as I really enjoyed the view/overall experience.

Have come during the winter and the summer, and was so glad to see that it was open again after COVID. Unequivocal views of the empire state building, even more impressive when the rooftop is open to air during the summer. Drinks are expensive but expected. They have excellent sous vide cocktails but have cut down on the variety they had. On our visit during the winter, bar was overheated and very hot, had to leave early because we were sweating.

Meh views. Rude waitress. Don’t go if you haven’t. Don’t go back if you have.

Excellent roof top bar in midtown. Wonderful view views of the city, good music that you can actually have a conversation with your friends. Signature Sous Vide Cocktails are so smooth and rich. Both Luis and Ellie took great care of us with speedy and kind service. Bar menu was delicious ( must try BBQ chicken flat bread!) and fresh and not stingy on any ingredients. Love this place!

I hosted my 30th birthday party here and had a great overall experience. The views were good of the Empire State Building, the food platter was tasty, the space was more than enough for my party of roughly 20 people, and the price was reasonable. Thank you to Anna for the planning beforehand and Tairth for the coordination at the event!

Great view of the Empire State Building! We reserved a table at this place for the view, stayed for the drinks and the experience. Our host Angela was very pleasant, shte took time and answered all of our questions. I ordered a negroni which was perfect and one of the seasonal gin cocktails (Flying Solo)- both were well crafted and delicious. Ordered the rustic flatbread (the fig jam pairs so well with the brie and capicola) and a cheesecake literally 5 minutes before kitchen was closing but that was not an issue and we enjoyed a quick bite with our drinks. Music was very much to my taste with a mix from the 80s-90s and early 2000s. Would definitely come back when its warmer out and you can enjoy the unobstructed view ot the Empire State Building without a roof over your head.

Great place to see the Empire State building and to grab a few drinks. The seating is fairly limited but it didint seem to get overly crowded either. I was there for a little over an hour and really enjoyed the views and atmosphere.

Breathtaking 270 views, great staff and drinks and a really interesting and diverse crowd, all without the marked up prices. Highly recommend.

Incredible value for money rooftop bar. A typical cocktail will set you back $16 after tax and for that you get an incredible view of the Empire State building and a really nice cozy environment. Highly recommended

We decided to check out the bar and the view before our dinner reservations. I had my typical and MMC tried something called the gin-gin. My whiskey was good, a solid pour and one large rock. We also tried the sliders. It took about 15 minutes to get them and when they arrived they were cold. I also searched and searched for the meat but could not find much. The sliders were mostly bread and shredded lettuce. There was an amazing sauce but certainly not worth the price. The view is directly opposite the Empire State Building. I guess you have to pay something for the view. The view was spectacular. The bar was also packed with baby carriages so if your ideal evening event comes with expansive drinks, overpriced food, and baby carriages the strand is for you. Our waitress was fantastic, very friendly and informative.

Arrived and was told that the place was at capacity. After we saw multiple others go to the roof we decided that we would follow. We got to the roof and the place was no where near capacity and on top of that we had to wait 20 minutes to get a single drink. Im upset because I have been here before with a very good experience but this time was such a bad experience I had to leave a review. Not recommended.

Great view directly onto the Empire State Building.

Drinks are good here, and theres a decent view; the Empire State Building is cool to see. But, the music was house/club that was too loud when we were here, and it doesnt fit the calm and small atmosphere of this place. It got annoying.

The waiter we had was very nice. The view of the Empire State was absolutely AMAZING. The atmosphere was comfortable. The music alternated genres to appease all.

Always wanted to try this rooftop. Ofc it was heavily raining so we didnt get the full experience, but still a cute rooftop with yummy frose. The empire state building was covered by the fog. Will definitely have to go back when the weather is nicer!

Great drinks and service with spectacular views from this all-season rooftop bar. Be aware that the management somehow thinks this is a nightclub, or wants desperately for it to BE a nightclub, so there is music blasting at such decibels as to render conversation totally impossible in such a compact space.

Nice ambiance, small area but good sitting with nice close view of Empire State building. The server/ host Danny was fun but the service was slow may be because we went an hour before their closing time.

The sunset in early fall can be spectacular from here with the sun reflecting on the Empire State Building. The music and the crowd together with a time for cocktails serve your spirit well and could relax your end of the day.

Stayed at the hotel 5 days, 20th floor , room 2003 below rooftop bar. Excellent view, saw fireworks on the 4th. Great staff, lady serving and lomberto the bartender. Of course pricey new york drinks but great atmosphere.

Probably the worst cocktails weve had so far in NYC and the staff are not very friendly. Its also very cold in the bar, the bar tenders are wearing coats? The only redeeming feature is the view of the empire state. I wouldnt go again.

Claims to be a ‘Top 10 rooftop bar in the world’ but having been to many rooftop bars around the world I beg to differ. The cocktails are $20, the service is slow, and whilst you can see the Empire State Building the overall scenic vista is not much better than looking up from the roadside. On the positive side, it’s got a nice chilled atmosphere, pleasant live music, and tasty drinks.

View was absolutely stunning. The drinks tasted great but I personally believe it’s because the drinks were weak. For the price point them drinks should’ve had me on the floor but I guess not. Aside from that the vibes are pretty calm

What a great find! I reserved a section of this rooftop bar for my family at no cost, and we had an amazing experience there. The drinks were amazing, and our waiter was stellar. It has a prime unbeatable view of the Empire State Building to top it all off!

We came to New York for our friends 30th birthday and top of the strand didn’t disappoint! Their drink prices are reasonable for a beautiful rooftop view of the Empire State Building and comfortable seating/upbeat atmosphere with a dj. I got the Oscar and it was incredible, we also got a bottle of champagne. As soon as we got there it felt extremely exclusive and relaxing, our waiter Patrick was the real star of the show though! He was an AMAZING waiter. He poured our champagnes for us, made sure our champagne glasses stayed full the entire time, made sure to check on us throughout our entire almost 2.5 hour stay, and was the sweetest guy the entire time. He was so kind and it really made our experience the best, and our favorite bar on the trip! He even saw us leaving and offered to take a picture of our group with the Empire State Building in the back, and we got a picture with him as well! If you visit New York, come to the top of the strand and ask for Patrick you won’t regret it! :)

Great rooftop bar at the Marriott Vacation Club Hotel. Quick and friendly service with good (but pricey) drinks. The city views here are really nice so the drink prices didnt matter as much. Was also nice that it wasnt over-crowded and the mix of people was just right.

Beautiful view. The prosecco was delicious. They were playing live jazz which was a very nice touch.

Very cosy place, we visited it the day they had karaoke night and we enjoyed ourselves very much. The owner is adorable and makes you feel like very comfortable. The barman let us try two beers in order to decide the one that we wanted to drink and fresh water with ice was poured into our glasses throughout the night.The karaoke program run smoothly and the owner encouraged and accompanied with her lovely voice nearly every potential singer! The prices of the drinks were affordable, for USA standards.

This is one of those places when you get discriminated for how you look. After a long day in NYC my shirt was messy and it was cold so I bought a hoody. The doorman told us the place was closed even though we had a reservation. I would have appreciated if he told us they have a dress code. I could have gone by my hotel and changed. But lying is cheating and cheating is wrong. But next door is a German beer house and they know that money is green even in if the man carrying the wallet has a hoodie on. They dont have the view but they have the rigth staff.

Went here during a weekend visit for happy hour on Friday. Easy to find, great view of the Empire State Building. Small and intimate. Good music, set a romantic mood and volume was conducive to conversation. Awning and retractable roof...comfortable despite hot summer evening.

This place is awesome. Great to have drinks and take a date. You can see the Empire State Building lit up at night. Marvelous darling!

My friend and I were there for the first time, and I can only say that we fell in love with the place and the view! The waiters and staff made us feel right at home. Ian was exceptionally awesome at welcoming us first timers!!

Heey, went to grab some cocktails with the girls last Saturday. We had some great seats with an amazing view to the night sky and the lights of the city. We loved how the Empire state building changed color! It was a little bit crowded, but hey, it’s a great place and people obviously like it a lot. We liked it as well. And the staff were handling it pretty good, too.The cocktails were recommended as ‘seasonal’ so we decided to go for them. I shot a couple of “La Patronas” and my girls went basically through the whole list. All of them were pretty cool. We shall definitely return soon.

Nice view of the Empire State building from the top of the Marriott, and good weather finds the glass roof open for a great outdoor experience. Check it out st least once for the unique view and enjoy a beverage while youre up there.

The drinks are good and the service was fast and friendly. Its heated and covered, which is nice. But the vew isnt the greatest.. you see the empire state building and thats kinda it. The biggest downfall is the loud club music. It doesnt really fit the atmosphere or crowd. Overall not bad, but not in a rush to get back.

My husband and I were in New York celebrating his birthday. We read that the view from this bar was to die for, so we had to go check it out. We loved the atmosphere; very laid back and fun. Our server was very friendly and we scored the best spot - a couple of stools facing the Empire State Building with the skyline in the background just as the sun was setting. The view - outstanding! The service - good, but it seemed there was only one server for the entire rooftop and it got busy. We ordered an appetizer that we never received, we were going to order a second drink but no one came by to ask us for almost an hour so my husband ended up walking up to the bar, tracking down our server and asking for the tab. We would go back for the view. Just get there early for a good spot!

Nice Place to Stay and have some Cocktails

What an amazing night weve had my boyfriend and I at this place! Beautiful view on the Empire State Building and the waiter was very nice. The cocktails and wines are not too pricey, but the place is small so be sure to come early to have a table and chairs.

Nice spot for drinks in the evening. Definitely recommend trying any of their mixed drinks or splurge on a bottle of wine. There is a small list of appetizers if youre hungry but its not a full restaurant so your options are limited.

Great place to stumble upon. Went for 1 drink and ended up having 5! Great view, nice vibe not had value either.
