I came here for my sister’s 30th Birthday. I booked in advance and found a groupon (through other recommended reviews). I called in advance to confirm two vegetarian afternoon tea sets. They request at least 24 hours in advance for dietary requirements. One star down for poor low average sandwiches. The bread was not good and the cream cheese cucumber sandwiches were skimp. Ive been to many afternoon tea and I think this place could do a lot better if the sandwiches were fresh. The hosts were lovely and bathrooms were in the lounge area which is convenient. Bathrooms were super clean. The servers did a poor job on pre-busing which is important with small tables like that. Tea was good.
We had such a wonderful experience having high tea at The Pierre / Two E Bar that we returned for a second time! A beautifully delicious high tea, with friendly and attentive staff, in a beautiful hotel. The staff were so helpful even when we made certain dietary requests, and the selection of treats were all delicious!Don’t even bother with other high teas in the area like we did (The Plaza) as they just don’t even compare with our afternoon tea at The Pierre!A much better experience, and one that we can’t stop talking about!
Great place to relax and have an awsome afternoon tea. The mini sandwiches were my favorite! The desserts at the bottom tray were a bit too sweet for me tho. If youre using Groupon, make sure you have it open before you get here, cell phone data and signal here is really bad.
I sent the email below to The Pierre Director of Restaurants two weeks ago and have yet to receive an apology or even an acknowledgement. My best friend and I had a delightful, memorable experience at Tiffany Blue Box Cafe on Monday. We had hoped to enjoy high tea at your Two E Lounge, but that was not to happen. You mentioned during our brief conversation that tea service had not been offered at The Pierre since covid. That was 4 years ago, yet your Google site lists tea service, prices and photos! When we sat down for our 3 pm reservation on February 12, in disbelief that high tea was not available, you might have assisted us in securing a table at another nearby establishment. Instead we fumbled on our phones to determine where to go.I am writing this email not wishing to receive future discounts or vouchers. We are New Yorkers and likely will never have an opportunity to reserve a hotel room. The absurdity of the situation deserves a complaint. The Pierre should clean up its online presence to avoid misrepresentation in future.
This bar in the Pierre hotel was a welcome stop on our Manhattan weekend outing. The bar service was phenomenal - kind, helpful, and with great suggestions. The shrimp snack we had was tasty, and all the drinks we tried were delicious. Would come back for sure.
The place has a nice ambiance but didn’t meet my expectations. We made reservations for brunch, and I had seen photos of a grand room with beautiful stairs and a charming theme that reminded me of my trip to Europe. However, the room we were seated in was small and minimalistic, with a classic black-and-white interior. Perhaps they have another dining area that matches the pictures? The service was just okay. It took a while for the staff to notice us at the door and greet us, though our waiter was friendly and made a great tea recommendation. Unfortunately, if you drink a lot of water like I do, you might find yourself waiting — they never came back to refill my glass. As for the food, it was underwhelming and overpriced. The pancakes, for example, were basic and didn’t taste exceptional — definitely not worth the cost. I assume the high prices are due to the location and the fact that it’s part of a hotel.Overall, while the place is aesthetically nice, the experience felt disappointing for the price point.
An old-school glitteratti watering hole that is interesting, but not incredible. The Pierre is a storied hotel with long history of serving the rich and famous. The two E Bar lounge is tucked in the hotel back and recessed, almost like a sunken living room. Its not as dramatic as historic bars in other old hotels, but the staff is excellent, even if the decor and ambiance arent extraordinary. One call out is the bathroom which is only for one person (always in demand) yet serves the 50-80 people. All in Id rate the service an A- and the atmosphere a B.
I came here for afternoon tea in the lounge. The space is small and intimate. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Also their afternoon tea menu is probably one of the best in NYC. First of all, their food is all in miniature form so its dainty which is how afternoon tea treats are supposed to be. Also, there is 2 of everything so it is easy to split with your companion. The sandwiches, sweets, and scones are tasty and fresh. Its a bit on the pricey side but its a nice treat once in a while. We had a Groupon so it was a good deal.
This is my first time doing high tea at the Pierre since they moved from the Rotunda. Besides the slight downgrade in atmosphere, service and food quality was on point.Everything we ate was delicious and their tea selection was decent. We tried the Rotunda (strong floral notes) and the Darjeeling (very well balanced black).
I came for high tea. During which one of the servers repetitively mentioned the gratuity is not included in the meals’ price. When we finished dining I left graduity as I deemed proper for the service I received. The waiter came back and returned the check for us to adjust the tip. I will never return to that place again, that was just in very poor taste.
Went here for high tea with some friends. The Two E Bar/Lounge, mini sandwiches and quiches were fantastic! Our waitress was very cute and nice as well. We were a fan of all of the sweets offered with the high Two E Bar/Lounge, I think we would have rather had another sandwich or quiche.
The Piere Hotel use to have the most lovely tea service in NY in their charming Rotunda with a string quartet. Now it has become overpriced, noisy and not so appealingly placed in the back of the hote in the barl. The tea sandwiches are now tiny bites, some tasty, but overpowered by the sweets served. The Hotel silver all water spotted, not wiped off before set on the table. The service just ok, not overly concerned about service, or caring to be there. No longer a pleasant experience, and certainly not what I believe was the level of the hotel.
The service is impeccable. The food is great! My only complaint is that they give you way too many sweets and you feel like youre in a sugar coma when you leave. A few more Savory items would balance the afternoon tea out marvelously
Exquisite Afternoon Royal Tea! Delectable tasty morsels. Champagne. Expertly brewed delicious tea. Great service and atmosphere with a pianist. What more can I say?
Great afternoon tea spot! 3 tier tray was fresh and flavorful, service was attentive and friendly. must go , check for specials (Groupon, etc)
Phenomenal experience at the Two E Bar.Mazi (sp?) and Paul are two phenomenal bartenders and really great their visitors well. Whenever Im back in New York, Ill be sure to stop on by.
Such a great experience. Went to experience high tea and had excellent service. They were perfectly responsive to my friends and my dietary restrictions, and went through extra effort to make sure our tea was perfect. The manager noticed me gifting scone mix to my friend and surprised us with the scone recipe from the pastry chef. An absolute pleasure! Definitely returning.
Afternoon tea is fantastic! Several tea options and great food. It wasn’t too busy here on a Sunday afternoon. I’ll definitely be back & would recommend it to friends. To be honest, the afternoon tea here beats The Ritz Carlton afternoon tea by far & is on par with English afternoon tea.
Great service and food. We brought a one year old baby with us and they have no problem about it and found us the high chair immediately.
Highly recommended. Their curry chicken is exceptional and they hv this strawberry cut in 4 quarters and sits on a white sugary crust is delicious. Great service! Hats off to the hostess
If I have to describe this place in one word, it would be “classy” exceptional service!!!
Every detail was beautiful. I will definitely return. 💕
Love the ambiance and live music. Service was attentive and not overbearing.
Sam the bartender is the best. Always attentive, nice conversation, and always welcoming.
Try the “Never See It Coming,” the smoothest pineapple martini I’ve ever had. Also the only pineapple martini, which is equally noteworthy!
Great musicians, great cocktails, easy favorite
Being a Taj inner circle platinum member, it was natural for me to stop by the lounge. It’s a cool place and well served however I disliked the fact that they don’t serve Indian Masala Chai. They have basic Indian tea chai but not the home made masala chai. The waiters are friendly and Leo took good care of us by giving us a good table. Our waiter lacked the Taj finesse. The chairs seemed worn out and needs to be replaced. The rooms cost around 500-750$ a night - the cost of Taj Exotica or palace properties - so the upkeep and fine detail needs to be there. This is probably my biggest ask for Taj.I absolutely dislike seeing worn walls or corners but besides that, this is the best place to be in nyc.
Enjoyed my oysters there for a quiet catch up evening
Great cocktails! Expensive. Take a tour inside the hotel, pretty amazing place.
Went for afternoon tea, food was spectacular! Amazing service
Terrific afternoon tea, nice atmosphere and good service
The ultimate Manhattan elegant bar experience !
High tea, charming experience.
Nice place for afternoon high tea. Can get pretty crowded on a weekend
Lovely hotel. We arrived 10 min before afternoon tea started and were treated to a short tour of the hotel by Ivette from the concierge desk. She made a wonderful impression with her authentic and friendly demeanor.Afternoon tea was a success according to my daughter, who was the reason for our visit. I thought the food and service were a bit disappointing. The top of the cream and the lemon curd was slightly congealed. Cream may not have tasted entirely fresh! Sandwiches seemed like they might have sat already prepared for a little too long. Tables are a bit small and low for eating but overall the atmosphere is elegant. The waiter was not as gracious as others we had encountered, I hope it wasn’t because we came with a groupon. The teas and sweets were delicious.Overall, really pleased to have discovered this elegant, old-world hotel and its interesting place in NYC history. Ivette and the doorman at the 61st street entrance were the epitome of genuinely warm service! We will look to stay for a special occasion sometime in the future and maybe give the afternoon tea a second try—hopefully we were just there on an off day.
My boyfriend and I visited Two E Bar and had a delightful afternoon tea service for two. We loved it! They have a wonderful selection of loose leaf teas which brew in individual teapots. (The Tropical Tea is AMAZING) Included in the tea service for two are also delicious assortments of 2 of each of the sandwiches, fresh warm scones and pastries on their afternoon tea menu. If you havent experienced afternoon tea, this is the place to come to vist and enjoy. See pictures!
I recently went to the Pierre Hotel for afternoon tea. The company I work for had our Holiday celebration. We are a group of 6 ladies. As we are getting served - a group of 50, 9year old girls come in for a party. They took over the bar and restaurant -running, screaming ... it was chaos !!We complaint to the manager and she said that she was aware that 30 girls were coming - not 50.When we made reservations - we were not told they were having this event -I do not recommend this place - please be aware !!!
Went for Afternoon teatimeOverall there were a lot of items, and very filling. Savory items were good.Scones (got 4 cranberry one, would have preferred 2 flavors) and cookies very heavy, quite buttery. Lots of sweet bites too.Tried the Traditional Chai and Pierre blend teas. The Chai wasnt as spiced as the Pierre blend.Good service.Tables are a bit crowded.$8 for an espresso shot
Excellent traditional tea service experience. The food offerings, quality of service is inviting and professional. We tried the traditional tea service and highly recommend the Pierre Blend & The Garden of Dream teas.
Wonderful hotel, but I had an afternoon tea experience that was a bit of a let down. In short, if you have a food allergy, beware! My wife and I were visiting NYC over Thanksgiving to see the parade. We decided to visit the Pierre Two E Bar based on a recommendation from a friend who had previously visited. We arrived right at 2pm so there was only one other person in the bar. We were promptly seated and had a wonderful spot near the Christmas tree. We ordered afternoon tea and even though we were the only ones, it took quite some time. Upon getting the items, I realized I neglected to mention my allergy (people in Boston always ask which has spoiled me). I asked the server and he mentioned that many of the items had tree nuts in them and was instantly quite rude. We didnt return anything because I felt at fault for not mentioning it, but when I asked him to repeat what had tree nuts in it, he became even more rude and agitated. I asked at that point if it were standard procedure to ask about allergies ahead of time and he said no. He mentioned that even if he did, we would have to let them know at least 24-hours ahead of time. Like many others, we made a reservation but the website gave no indication of this requirement which means we would have wasted our time coming across town to enjoy afternoon tea and I would not have been able to eat half of it all. I find this completely unacceptable. After tea (during which we never saw the waiter again), I paid and then requested to see the manager. It took at least 10-minutes, but I was finally greeted with a very friendly gentlemen. I voiced my concern and he was quite nice and VERY sorry for the poor service and the oversight in such an important thing. He of course offered to have us back, etc, but I said that all I wanted was for others to know ahead of time. I have given it a week and a half and still have not seen any notes on their website that those with allergies should notify the restaurant 24-hours ahead of time so im writing this review to help others that might find themselves in this situation.I find this all too bad-- its a beautiful place and this is an example of how one server really ruined an experience when it seems all others were quite friendly. I would most certainly recommend this place, but be careful if you have any food allergies!
Very nice ambience. The food was just okay. Its pre-made and stored in the fridge. You can taste it in the bread...
It is not luxurious enough or good enough to charge 80 dollars to a bunch of tasteless mini bites. Service was not good. We had to ask for water to be served. Waiters were clueless about what was on the Tea Service. For the price, totally not worthy. Would definitely not come back.
Great high tea service and food variety. Very attentive too.
A bit claustrophobic. Nothing to recommend it other than the location. Runway entrance a plus for your inner glamour queen.
Great drinks and great atmosphere. Service was simply incredible!
What an experience love the staff my family love it
Excellent Lounge for events, was there for a magnificent fundraiser
Phenomenal afternoon tea service!
Must try the Gin Gin!! Great service!!
The high tea service is amazing
A total rip off
Impeccable!
I miss Vacuos place
