The Wayland was a pleasant surprise. I loved the vintage and rustic atmosphere. The cocktails I tried were tasty and well-balanced. I would definitely come back. The menu looked interesting; I didnt try the food, but the cocktails alone make it worth a visit.
Made a reservation for 8 people for 4:30pm and the only spot for large groups is the bench by the big window, which is exactly the spot I wanted. The rest of the restaurant has smaller tables for 2. Overall, the vibes were warm and homey, but elevated.Their cocktails and all the food we tried were delicious! The service was top notch; our server was very attentive and lovely. One of my friends is vegan and they were accommodating and were able to confirm if something was vegan for her.Highly recommend checking out for a chill spot to catch up with friends over some delicious drinks and food.
I made a reservation for eight people at 4:30 PM, and the only option for larger groups was the bench by the large window—which was exactly the spot I was hoping for. The rest of the restaurant features smaller tables for two. The overall atmosphere was cozy and inviting, but with a touch of sophistication. All the food we tried and the cocktails were fantastic! The service was outstanding; our server was extremely attentive and kind. One of my friends is vegan, and they were very accommodating, even confirming if certain items were vegan for her.I highly recommend this place for a relaxed hangout with friends, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks.
A reasonable priced restaurant by NYC standard and a cute little gem around the area.Arrived without a reservation but the hostess was really nice to arrange a seat. Love the happy hour menu, oysters, margaritas were well made. Fantastic!
The Wayland is an absolute gem of a neighborhood bar! Initially drawn in by their enticing happy hour, I quickly discovered that this place is much more than just discounted drinks. The ambiance is charming, cozy, and incredibly welcoming – the kind of spot that feels like a second home.My experience was made even more delightful by the friendly bartender, Francisco, who not only served with a genuine smile but also shared insightful recommendations about the menu and his favorite places in the city. Its evident that the staff takes pride in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Now, lets talk about the Pernil sandwich. Wow! Unexpectedly ordering it turned out to be a game-changer. Its quite possibly the best sandwich Ive ever had, and Ive had my fair share in NYC. The casual order turned into one of my favorite meals in the city. Kudos to The Wayland for elevating the bar food game. And, of course, the drinks! My wife had the best Manhattan shes ever had in the city. The Wayland certainly knows how to craft exceptional cocktails, adding another layer of excellence to the overall experience.
The presentation was nice. I’m not a cocktail person, but my husband loved the drinks here. They also have the oysters, but seems no happy hour anymore. You can call to confirm.
Took a small group here on a Saturday night around 8PM. The vibe instead was crowded so we sat outside, but it was nice. There was an outdoor bar seating area flush against the restaurant façade, so we werent on the sidewalk or in the street. The service was surprisingly quick and effortless, the drinks were pretty good. I particularly loved the School Lunch - a super grown up pb&j (with booze, obviously). Ive heard good things about their food (the sausage & ricotta toast really had me pondering) but we just went for drinks. The watermelon gose wasnt anything particularly flavorful, but the I Hear Banjos! was great too, fruity and tart without veering into dessert cocktail territory. Drinks are on the cheaper side for this area, $16 for a specialty cocktail. Id recommend for small groups or a casual hang.
Very cute restaurant. They open the front when the weather is nice which brings the outdoors in. They also have lovely sidewalk seating. Its not great for groups larger than 6 and even 6 it can be a bit tight. Happy hour menu is pretty good. Definitely a fun spot off the beaten path to meet up with friends or a casual date night.
I loved this happy hour! The oysters were not the freshest - but the salads were really good. HOPING they add French fries to the menu
The explosion of bars serving serious, well-made cocktails in New York has been well documented and for the most part, sincerely appreciated. Yet, inevitably, several of these institutions add a dash of pretentiousness to their muddled, swirled and strained concoctions. So where can one enjoy a serious drink without the attitude? Enter The Wayland. Located in a part of the East Village that is no stranger to a great cocktail bar, The Wayland’s tag line says it best: Small But Strong. Every drinker will be sure to find something pleasing on their concise list of 7-8 house specialities and if not, all of their bartender’s are well-versed in the classics and then some. Quietly boasting one of the better Happy Hour menus in the city ($7 Sazeracs and $1 oysters) as well as an incredible roster of well-priced sandwiches, The Wayland is a great example of what a cocktail bar should be: strong, inventive and cared for drinks that are meant to be enjoyed not quietly worshipped; it’s a bar after all.
Great happy hour prices. It wasn’t busy on Wednesday night, music is not too loud so you can actually hear your date. Vibe is very romantic, oysters was fresh, food is amazing and cocktails were good, too. Cozy and comfy place. We had 5 oysters, beer for happy hour price $9 pre-tax, and another cocktail, potatoes, chicken sandwich, hot nuts - overall we spent only $55 for two person (pre-tip and with happy hour price). I will definitely recommend this place for casual dates.
My wife took me here as part of one of the many stops for my birthday, this place is so rustic and feels very mid century. The menus have many different unique drinks to choose from. The drinks are strong and are really good! They also serve food but we only had drinks. Really cool atmosphere and all the staff were incredible!!
Loved it! Great atmosphere, friendly, attentive service. Awesome food! Cauliflower was tasty, a bit spicy, crunchy. Sausage bread... well, its sausage and toasted bread, what could be wrong with that? $1 oysters during a nice, lengthy happy hour. Bartender was great. Drinks are inventive and delicious.
(Reviewed during COVID-19). Cocktails (single and double serving) to go! All come with a bag of chips. We got the mezcal and pineapple. Head to Tompkins Square Park after for some people watching.
Cool spot for drinks. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. The vibe is great. Only downside is the “surface area” of the bar is not great with the layout, and you sometimes have to wait a while to get a drink. But it’s not terrible. Would recommend!
Great atmosphere, great drinks, but not for strollers after 5 PM, mostly because its difficult to maneuver around all the cool people out for the night!
Visiting from the UK - came for happy hour! The cocktails were yummmm (we had the margaritas which have chili salt around the glass) and my boyfriend had the fresh oysters for $1 each. The place has a really cool vibe and a cool decor of exposed wood and hanging lanterns, kind of like a hipster hobbit home (with a cool bar!)
Green drink marg was incredible. Great music, fast service, and good atmosphere but no A/C. Beware if you run hot. Will be back.
Happy Hour oysters were really good here! The decor of the restaurant is really nice and the staff are friendly. A cute intimate spot or place to catch up with friends.
The not so secret bar of Alphabet City. This place has a great rating for a reason. Lovely staff, great drinks and food menu. 100% recommend the margarita and from the food menu the Brussels hash.
The cocktails here are wonderful and the location and vibe are really nice for summer. I would recommend the garden margarita, it’s extremely unique and is my go-to.
This bar has loud music and can easily become crowded at night. I visited here with friends one time and had a nice time. I ordered their seasonal smoked apple cocktail and to my surprise they actually had covered it with a bunch of smoke before giving it to me. The drink smelled like a bonfire and tasted great.
Lovely place to waste away on a Sunday with lovely people, piano music in the background, a shocking amount of space, an outdoor area, park across the street. Its a no-frills place in the most frills kinda area. Its greatness is in its subtlety maximized by a nice spring day.
Usually great cocktails. Love the one with ginger and gin (that they may have taken off the menu??) BUT this time I got THREE garden variety margaritas (usually love) but this time they tasted sour. Think it’s bad kale. Very terrible like fish. Total EW ! Disappointing :/
I love this place because the vibes are immaculate and the cocktails are delicious. We ended up getting caught in the restaurant on a rainy day, but it turned out to be the most idyllic scene. Our very talented waitress even played a few tunes for us on the piano. Our food was a bit delayed (over 40min wait for a salad and sandwich). The staff was v accommodating and apologetic.I would definitely go back here and take a stroll to one of the nearby parks after a cocktail.
Good drinks/food and great vibe! I really enjoyed the potato wedges and aioli.
Nice service and great oysters only $1! Only at 5-7 pm, it’s their happy hours.
Wednesday is great for the jazz band playing all night. Also a great place for the cocktails. They are 14$ but worth it. I had my Canteloupe with rum and Aperol. Other to consider are the sours...
Great spot in Loisaida with delicious food and amazing drinks! I dont drink alcohol and the server was more than happy to offer some of their cocktails as mocktails. Tried the Smoked & Roasted as a mocktail and I couldnt tell the difference! So refreshing & delicious & with a kick from the chili salt. For food I had the Milk & Honey (burrata on toasted 7 grain with honey & smoked pepper) DELICIOUS. All around nice spot to meet up with friends. The outside seating is well ventilated for those of us still being mindful of COVID.
On a Friday night me and my friends saw a spot outside that people were seated at, and we were told by a doorman that we could sit outside. While we were deciding on drinks a server checked in on us basically making sure we knew there wasn’t a server coming, and that we should order inside at the bar. My boyfriend and my other friend went in to get our drinks, and after my friend came out with her drink I went in to check on my boyfriend. As soon as I was waking out with some drinks a server asked me if I had “closed out at the bar”, insinuating that I had not paid for my drinks. I responded “excuse me?” Then the man checking IDs at the entrance stepped in to tell her where we were sitting. Nothing else was said, so I continued to my table. A few moments later, before I had even sipped my drink, we were approached by a woman server in a green dress and were met with a really weird attitude when she suddenly told us we couldn’t sit there and finish our drinks, meanwhile many of the other people outdoors were still allowed to stay. I understand it was busy and me and my friends all work in the service industry, but right after we left we saw new people in the outside seating and nothing was said to them. The whole interaction seems very targeted. We went to another place across the street and received much better service.
Amazing late night bar. Cocktails and other libations are awesome. The best part about this place is the energy and vibe to close and get it done - whatever you are into. Smoked and Roasted - The Moxie were very good.
The Wayland was a delightful discovery. I was captivated by the vintage charm and rustic vibe of the place. The cocktails I sampled were flavorful and perfectly balanced. Although I didn’t get a chance to try the food, the menu seemed intriguing. I’d certainly return just for the cocktails—they’re reason enough to visit.
The Wayland is a great brunch and drinks spot when its not crowded or when there are only a few folks at the bar. It gets excellent sunlight especially in the Summer. The drinks and the food are both prepared well and the service is generally good depending on the mood of the bartenders or the wait staff.I recommend getting a window seat next to the piano as its pretty comfortable there. A seat the bar isnt bad either, but you leave yourself open to a rowdy experience.Overall, the Wayland is a terrific spot, but if you really want a superb cocktail go to MACE diagonally across the street, but be warned that the drinks are NOT cheap (but worth it).
Such a great bar, the cocktails are creative and brilliantly made. The atmosphere here is decent. Upmarket, buzzy but not pretentious.Well worth a visit.
I’ve been here a few times for drinks, and decided to have my birthday dinner here last year. This was still while there were limits to party sizes due to Covid, but the Wayland were very accommodating and despite how busy they get, I was able to book a table for a large party, in a nice outside area. The food and drink is great. At the end of the night they gave us the wrong check, which I didn’t realise until I’d got home. I’m sure it was a genuine mistake given how busy they were and I think there was a change in waiters at one point. That said, I judge a restaurant on how they handle these situations and, the experience I had when sorting this out was fantastic. I was put in touch with the manager who was really responsive and went above and beyond to fix the issue immediately. Great service.
Really love this spot! Nice surprisingly romantic ambiance (I came here for a date lol) with cool cocktails--I had this one that they infused with smoke and it was awesome. Food was great as well, which I didnt anticipate. I usually have low expectations for bar food so was VERY impressed. This place is a great bar, but its also great for a late brunch or early dinner.
Love this bar. The decor, the service, the drinks, the food. Great across the board. I hate to say it , but the kale margarita is amazing. The crostini are all solid, and I especially recommend the chicken liver and sausage bread. Great happy hour specials with $1 oysters. And all the craft cocktails are delicious. Used to be my secret find, now a little more crowded and for good reason.
A really cool and accesible neighborhood bar with a great relaxed vibe and occasional live music. And the drink are surprisingly good!
Too many great things to say about this place. The best thing: the staff. All of them are great...but Izzy & Meg, you’re the greatest brunch serving duo the world has ever seen.Outside of really special people, the food is AMAZING (seriously my favorite in all of NY), cocktails are delicious and creative, and the vibe is cozy, fun and cool.Check it out! A+++
This place is one of my favorites. The best mixed drinks in town. Always on point. Music is fun to jam, drinks are a bit hard to get when your at the bar because its usually crowded but totally worth it.The staff is amazing, always polite.
Coolest bar in alphabet city. delicious food, epic cocktails, perfect vibe.
We came here on a rainy day... it was busy but not overly crowded... good crowd... good service... loved the one drink I ordered (See Photos section)
Cute bar in the East Village. Interesting drinks and crowd. It serves a GREAT cheese plate. Prices are less expensive than you would expect ($14 drinks instead of $17). Music is more bar typical than you might expect, definitely a place where you would want to have some drinks, maybe a few shots, and sing along!
Cool place with cool drinks. Good snacks but small sizes
Came here a few times for various different occasions and always had a good experience. Small bites at night, brunch, cocktails - is all great. At night it gets quite busy and crowded but thats part of the charm. Do try the smoky whiskey based cocktail. So good
Went for a non-boozy brunch and had a lovely time. The layout is mellow, service attentive and food great! I went with the Trout sandwich which was a great balance of smokey and sweet. Couple the sandwich with a light salad and fresh oj... Solid outing. Enjoy.
We organized a party last weekend for my sons upcoming wedding. The open bar was great, and the drinks, like the espresso martini and old fashioned, were well made. We also enjoyed delicious food, including thick bread, cheeses, cold cuts, and tasty oysters. The staff were friendly and patient, helping make the event a success. This place has become a favorite with its amazing cocktails and cozy atmosphere.
Nice people, great food, good drinks. Happy hour oysters and drinks were awesome. If youre from the pnw youll enjoy this spot and other bars in the area. Its got great food and drink without being pretentious. V pnw. Ambiance is beautiful, cozy yet rustic.
Its a little out of the way off the subway, but worth the trek for real dollar oysters and inventive craft cocktails. Excellent choice for a date night. Dont miss the cauliflower and sausage bread small plates.
Idk the bartenders name, but he was pretty dope. Great recs. Great cocktails. Yay.
Very busy on a Friday evening, and we were told after sitting down for a few minutes we could only use a table if we were ordering table service (the staff insisted there were signs on the table but we didnt see anything). The cocktails were very tasty though, with interesting ingredients (who would have thought a kale cocktail would taste so good).
The Wayland has never not been a vibe - Ive been coming here for years. Sitting at the bar with a refreshing Honeydew Spritz will turn your day right around. I love the open air atmosphere, and at night there is live music depending on the day. Its just a solid jumping off point for any night in the east village
One of the coolest cocktail bars Ive been to. Happy hour cocktails are absolutely top notch. Food was spectacular. Be sure to try the campfire apple moonshine cocktail with apple wood smoke.
Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, nice cocktails. The cocktails are relatively reasonably priced ($15) given location and quality. The anchovies were really tasty! Would go again.
You must get a Smoked & Roasted cocktail. Easily one of my favorite spots and favorite drinks in the city. The staff is incredibly attentive regardless if it packed or empty. They are quick while not compromising the quality of the drinks.
Was just here recently after not having come for over a year. PROS: hostess was awesome and let us sit for drinks without ordering any food. Our cocktails were great. CONS: it is a tad bit noisy.
Nice atmosphere and a good way to start the bar hoping. Solid cocktails, and its usually not crowded. There is live music sometimes too which is great.
Great consistent bar for a pop in. Gets busy after 10. Summer breezy vibe.Get the roasted pineapple and mezcal cocktail.Good staff.
Happy hour good prices especially if you like oystersNice little local bar
The best drinks you can find. This place is always packed because of it. They are true artists of the cocktail. Great food as well. They literally cant do wrong.
Cool place for a quick happy hour.
Oysters are delicious. surprisingly not that crowded for a bar in alphabet city and there are loads of friendly young people. Beer isnt to expensive and the mix drinks are delicious.
Fav place to grab a drink or two and there crispy cauliflower amazing !!!! I also tasted the Burger omg to die for so tastttty must have the burger !! I also put a drink bc they have such yummy drinks
Cocktails and top snacks in a smartly low key setting just across from 2 great community gardens
I love the Wayland. Super cute, cozy environment. Great cocktails and snacks.
Highly recommend the After Hours Jam (especially if youre a bourbon lover)!!!!
The Wayland is a solid choice for dinner and/or later night drinks. The menu changes on a weekly basis, rotating seasonally-inspired drinks like the summery After-Hours Jam, which includes apricot jam and bourbon, and one offering on tap – currently the San Fran Spout, with Fernet Branca and housemade cola. They also do small plates at the rustic wooden tables that fill half the bar. On weekend nights it’s packed after 10pm, and there are good tunes and a fun scene that last til the wee hours of the morning. They are currently expanding into the space next door, so look for a full kitchen and more updates coming soon.
This is a moderately price craft cocktail bar. Great drinks and friendly service. I cant comment on the food other than the hot peanuts, which were great!
There was a lively crowd and good DJ on Monday night (playing remixes of songs from the 80s-2010s).I was originally seeking out Summit Bar but it was dead silent in there. We found the fun Wayland just down the block and were pleased with the experience. I asked the bartender if he could make me a Negroni (not on the menu). He made it well and the cost was comparatively low.
Went here to say farewell to a coworker for happy hour selection of drinks wherent the greatest but affordable. The bar food was too healthy for me. I mean if your going to go drinking bar food had to compliment your drink
Great bartenders, bouncer, on a Saturday night after 3. Very patient with a very drunk crowd. Magically three whole place smells like a campfire. Very nice in the winter. Tre expensive, but Im worth it!
Great atmosphere and really good cocktails. The happy hour drinks and HH oysters were perfect before heading out to dinner!
The cocktails are great. Live band is awesome, although a little loud that you have to shout to your friends, still good music and nice vibe.
My favorite bar in Alphabet City…lots of people yet still relatively easy to get to the bar which is so refreshing
After a horrendous experience at Los Feliz, I went to this bar and my entire night was turned around. There was fantastic customer experience and the bouncer Joe was so incredibly nice. He went above and beyond for my friends. Highly recommend!
The staff here was extremely rude to my girlfriend. Spilled a drink on her and when she kindly put some napkins on the mess, they made us leave. Nobody messes with my girl and gets away with it.
We went here because they had oysters Shooters on their happy hour menu. However if you ever had REAL Oyster Shooters in your life you will know that these are definitely not!!
Great Happy Hour
If it’s possible to master the elusive art of bartending Jenny at the Wayland has done it. immaculate vibes, relaxed yet stylish decor, clean bathrooms, cold beer. All around excellent bar. Cheers 🍻
Great spot for a drink w/ friends
Came here for happy hour oysters. Very good
I wish all bars were like this.Great music. Great drinks. Great tables. Nice people.A rare find in New York
We host my friend’s’ surprise engagement party at The Wayland! They were so generous and gave us a great space. They were constantly checking in and making are we had everything we needed! Plus amazing food and cocktails!
Such a fun and cozy spot! Perfect for a summer evening with the windows open!!
Nice ambiance. Good drinks.
Happy hour was amazing. Great cocktails, fresh oysters that were just delivered for $1 each, and really friendly service.
We came here on NYE and did the open bar package, and are so glad we did! We had a great time - the staff here are really incredible. They were attentive all night, we never were without a drink. Cocktails were very good, highly recommend the kale margarita. There were some Hors doeuvres included in the open bar, my husband was thrilled with the oysters and we were impressed with the charcuterie board! I see why this is a favorite neighborhood bar.
One of my fave bars in EVChill vibes, good prices, sometimes live musicGood happy hour specials, good oyster happy hour
Great cocktails and never that crowded if you go right after work so easy to get a drink
Crowded busy and popular cocktail bar. Good atmosphere and great bartenders. Prices are on the high side for the neighborhood.
Cozy atmosphere. A bit loud, but thats to be expected. Rented a semi-private room off to the side and it was really nice. Drinks were good, though a bit pricy for the vibe.
Came here on a whim and am pleasantly surprised. The scene in east village is always happening, and this Wednesday night didnt disappoint. Great live music and great cocktails!
Good food, good oysters and fries, great drinks. Worth the trip to ave C... Sure, why not!
I had a damn-near religious experience with the pernil sandwich here. Im not a foodie and almost shed a single tear of joy. The mezcal and tequila selections are also on point. Excellent all around.
Great cocktail bar to converse with friends. Francisco the bartender was amazing at making recommendations and crafting some great tasting beverages.
Great libations but most impressed with the best key lime pie of my life
Love the cocktails here that use veggies (carrot, beet) in them. So unexpected but adds complexity that the bartenders here completely balance.
One of the best cocktail bars in the area. Anything with whiskey is awesome here, and the bloody mary comes with a little beer.
Excellent craft cocktails. Really nice vibe.
Fun bar with great shots. Nice big windows allow you to people watch easily. Not close a subway, but thats a minor detail with citibike, uber, lyft and via
The waiters were very friendly and accomodating. The food was delicious. The key lime pie was outstanding.
Love the atmosphere at this place. We only stopped for a couple drinks and some oysters for happy hour, but will absolutely be back.
Staff was nice, drinks were tasty
And again I say—The Wayland is a winner. No matter what time of day or night, there is a creative craft cocktail awaiting you...oh! With food and deliciousness as well!!
Awesome happy hour oysters & cocktails. pretty lovely vibe.
Joined for happy hour and I had what a was expecting: great oysters and drinks!
That is a gooooood burger. Omg. You say medium rare? One inch thick. Thick tomato. Salty bacon. Its exactly what you want at 2a or noon. So. Worth. The. 20. Bucks.
Outstanding organic cocktails. Tasty, indulgentfood menu to nibble alongside that includes great vegetarian options
Staff is great- prices are fair. Good crowd kn the weekends.
Had the oysters, potatos burrata , pork all was a joy eat with the joven mezcal I was drinking. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed.
Wonderful neighborhood spot with a good happy hour
Outstanding cocktails, skilled and friendly staff, great ambiance, killer playlists... cant go wrong here.
A true hidden gem in the city. Home of I Hear Banjos, my favorite whiskey cocktail. If you like smoke and booze, this drink is for you.
Live ragtime was great! The fries and cocktails were good as well
Great cocktails and a relaxed vibe. Perfect place to relax and catch up with friends
Amazing margaritas and oysters! We came in early, but the place got crowded less than an hour after opening. The service is really dependent on the barman serving you, but all around great cocktails!
A local recommended The Wayland and it lived up to expectations. Drinks and food were both great, and it was a cool spot to hang out. Highly recommended
This place has an old world charm and the cocktails are so good! 🙌 Tried A night in Bangkok definitely recommend! ✨
I hear banjos best drink on the menu. Oyster happy hour is great as well
Great place. Went for brunch and spent a few hours. Did not feel rushed. Nice atmosphere and interesting drinks. Food was very good, only disappointment was that they were out of the sausage bread. Blueberry corn cakes were delicious. Very accommodating and friendly staff.
A NYC-quality brunch spot without the hella hassle of West Village lines. Also, all things in East Village look better in beanies (food included).
Fun bar with nice staff. Helped me get my jacket and scarf back after another customer took it home accidentally in a mix up.
I came in this place by pure random. Great cocktail, a brass band, good vibe. A bar above the others.
5 stars for the manager that got my husbands jacket back to him. Fun music, good drinks.
The cocktails were good enough, but I have no idea why I had to yell over music in a nearly empty restaurant at 3 on a Sunday.
Oysters are ok and not very well shucked. Cocktails sound really great but are just ok
Awesome and surprisingly inexpensive brunch. Try the cauliflower and egg sandwich! P.s. The coffee here isnt great.
My favorite bar for food, cocktails and some live music. Come early to eat when its not as crowded if you can.
One of my favorite cocktail places in the city - you have to get the smoked whiskey.
The bartenders are very hospitable. The craft drinks are amazing and the vibe is great.
A little too loud for my tastes usually, but they have nice drinks and live music and a trendy crowd.
Great date spot. Vibe, lighting, always a win
Cocktails and vibe are nice but gets exceptionally crowded late at night on weekends.
This place has an amazing selection of house cocktails served in an amazing atmosphere.
Amazing cocktails and knowledgeable bartenders. If you’re gonna come on a weekend night, it’s going to be loud and crowded but it’s a great time!
Very good cocktails and tasty food, consistently.
A bit expensive but everything was delicious. Love the ambience of the place, very old world
Sat at the bar first as I waited for my guest. The bartender (guy) was extremely friendly and funny! Made me an excellent margarita. I really enjoyed his presence! We later sat at a table, I wish I could say the service was extended, but our waitress seemed uncomfortable and made us feel awkward. I’ve never really had an experience like that. It’s hard to explain, but every time she came over it was like she was just starring waiting for us to talk. The whole table which was 6 of us, felt the exact same way. She showed no initiative.. however the food was phenomenal. The cauliflower and braised beef dish were my favorites! the drinks are very cool as well! They also have live music here! But that night we went I believe the band was a bit late so we missed the show! I would definitely come back and enjoy the bartenders atmosphere again!
Drinks were awesome! A little crowded but I liked the vibe.
Couldn’t recommend enough. Cute space, great happy hour, and amazing service. Josh was amazing
Great drinks and a friendly staff. I recommend the garden margarita
The service was great and the drinks were delicious and clever!
Cocktails here are beyond exceptional. Recommend the Sausage bread for a snack. They also have a great choice of other snacks in the menu. Great, cozy atmosphere and friendliest staff.
Very original cocktails in a dark, moody, hipster environment. Try the Moonshine drink for something new.
Some of the most creative and delicious cocktails Ive ever had.
Delicious cocktails. Great atmosphere. Live music.
Great bar tenders. Free made drinks and food. Breakfast tacos rock
Good cocktail. Too many drunks people, so it ruined the atmosphere though.
For East Village, nice cocktail bar! They have mocktail versions of almost all the cocktails, which is nice. The sausage bread wasn’t tasty (?) but hey it’s carbs, cheese, and protein so good bar fare.
Happy hour is great!! Staff is so amazing!
Nice and cosy with good cocktails
One of my favorite bars in New York. I love the oyster shooters at happy hour, and all the cocktails are delicious
Great smash burger. and i mean great. Sazerac also solid
The Wayland, located in the vibrant Alphabet City of East Village, New York, is a place where the art of mixology and the joy of gastronomy meet. This bar is a haven for those seeking an experience that transcends the ordinary, offering a blend of immaculate cocktails, expectation-surpassing food, and an ambience that is both welcoming and exciting. The Waylands cocktail menu is a testament to their commitment to craft, with drinks that are as delightful to the palate as they are to the eye. The Garden Variety Margarita and I Hear Banjos are just a few examples of their unique offerings, each with their own distinct flavour profiles that are sure to impress even the most discerning cocktail enthusiasts. The Smoked & Roasted cocktail, a mezcal and pineapple-infused drink, is a local favorite. But the Wayland isnt just about drinks. The food here is so good it almost outshines the cocktails. While the menu may not be extensive, each dish is crafted with care and precision. The Wayland is also known for its lively atmosphere. Despite attracting an older crowd, the bar is fun for all ages. The open-air seating is perfect for a hot summer day. The bar also doubles as a live music venue, adding another layer of entertainment to your visit. The staff at The Wayland deserves a special mention. They are not just bartenders, but friends to the patrons, often doubling as therapists. Their friendly and attentive service is a big part of what makes The Wayland such a beloved spot in NYC.The Wayland is more than just a bar. Its a place where memories are made, where every visit is a unique experience, and where the drinks and food are always sure to impress. Whether youre a local or a visitor, The Wayland is a must-visit when in New York City.
I love this place. The garden margs are AMAZING and the vibes are awesome. Good music, not too crowded, all around great place.
Some of the best cocktails in Alphabet City. I hear banjos!
Great cocktails, friendly barmen, favourite bar in the hood!
Nice casual spot. Bartenders/staff were great
Perfect spot for a sunny afternoon. Front patio and open-air concept creates the perfect outdoor feel and provides great people-watching. The drinks and staff are great too!
The lady who bartends there was not professional at all. She doesn’t have the right attitude to be a bar tender. Maybe she would be better cleaning the bathrooms… I hate going to this place and see her there, so I won’t go until I make sure she is fired!
Great drinks. I love it
Terrible experiences. Rude waitress. Price is not worth the whole experiences. No more
Absolute classic. Improved the setup with the outdoor banquettes
Great drinks, service leaves a little to be desired. On a busy night, there seemed to be miscommunication about where we could be seated. We were originally seated on benches outdoors; shortly after sitting with our drinks we were brusquely told that we couldn’t sit there. This would be alright, but they weren’t able to offer an alternative seating, so we were left adrift with our 15 dollar cocktails. More than anything, it seemed the staff wasn’t on the same page about what spaces were open for customers and what weren’t. The moxie cocktail was pretty good at least. As an aside, my girlfriend was confronted about leaving without paying for drinks, before we were even able to find seating (after I had left a card on tab.)
Awesome bar with great food, drinks, and staff.
Fantastic cocktails, nice bar food, great service, nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Nice atmosphere/decor, great cocktails
Very nice space although a bit loud. Great cocktails. Very pleasant service.
Great cocktails and cozy atmosphere 👌🏻
Came here expecting to get the happy hour that many other reviews raved about but was disappointed to find that it wasnt offered on the holiday on which I went. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had really great drinks and one of my personal favorite burgers Ive ever had (and for $12 which is affordable for a nice smash burger at a restaurant in NYC lol).Already thinking of going back there for another burger.
Creative drinks, rustic vibe, somewhat intimate. I like it
This place is a straight up Wow! Great Date Place or just hanging with the clan. Awesome libations & tasty treats. You will not be disappointed with this local haunt. Friendly service & a cool decorum. Stop on by.
Great atmosphere and drinks. Oddly enough the bathrooms are very smartly designed so its kinda nice going there... Odd i know.
Never try to blackmail swiss bankers! really disappointed. Be happy I wont sue you
Best $1 oyster happy hour in NYC
Nice atmosphere, loved the indoor/outdoor space. Good cocktails
The margaritas here are great. I will be coming back for more drinks.
Pretty fun scene, good amount of room, good cocktails.
Cornmeal pancakes were top notch as were the cocktails.
Great happy hour. Oysters and cocktails.
Service here was weird and workers had bad communication. My group had been here before and wanted to come back, and on a warm night we saw the mostly full outdoor seating and thought it would be a nice place to grab a quiet nightcap. We checked with the doorman about a table and were told to go ahead. Another man approached as we looked at the menu and told us to order inside at the bar. We did, and after my friend brought our drinks outside we were suddenly approached by two servers who told us we had to leave our table and find a spot in the overly packed indoor area. The attitude from one of them seemed weirdly accusatory, she immediately said something about how they “hadn’t sat this section all day” (We asked multiple times if it was okay to sit there and there had been several opportunities to tell us otherwise before we bought our drinks). We moved inside, but the interaction left a bitter taste and it was disappointing as we specifically chose the location because we wanted to be outside and could have bought $16 cocktails someplace else. What was more annoying is that after we moved indoors, we noticed groups that continued to sit outside and were not rudely confronted. All in all the drinks were good and our previous experience here was nice, but they need to work on communication and not treat paying customers like nuisances 🤷🏼♀️
Great jazz and good drinks. Beautiful people.
Great drinks, friendly bartender, great music
Great place and nice atmosphere!!
Great ambiance and happy hour. Delicious oysters and cocktails. Friendly staff.
The Wayland is my favorite place in the city and I go there when I want peace. A lot of places are closing down and I hope they stay open because they are a critical institution to me.
Good ambiance, fair pricing, good drinks, awesome key lime pie
Mediocre frat party of a bar with very rude bartenders. Plenty of better options elsewhere.
Rachel Bass highly recommends for atmosphere and amazing sandwiches.
Staff is really nice but it’s not really a place to go if you wanna go dancing. Also, if you’re POC just skip it altogether lol
Great place for delicious food and amazing cocktails! The ambiance is the perfect mix of a fun, low-key and chill vibe. For food, I highly recommend both the pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches. Wow! You wont be disappointed with either. I always like to get one of the vegetable sides as well. Most recently had the cauliflower and it was amazing. For cocktails, you cant really go wrong. My husband always gets the Garden Variety Margarita & I usually go with The Tarragon Trail. Highly recommend you check out this spot!
If you’re coming for brunch, The Man Child and any cocktail you prefer is the way to go! So delicious. If you’re able to make it for dinner, they sometimes have a jazz band playing, which makes for a great way to unwind after a long day. Awesome spot.
Love the food and drinks! So happy this place has survived the pandemic. Service today was a bit off. Otherwise, its still one of my favorite places in NYC!!!
Great drinks but too loud. Maybe because I am too old.
Good service, unique drinks and solid food choices lead to a fun night out. I wish the live music was back!Definitely worth checking this place out if youre around
Absolutely a go-to for live music, great bar food, excellent cocktails and drinks, and overall just the perfect spot to sit and enjoy an afternoon.
Great drinks with a nice atmosphere and a fun outdoor seatingHowever take into account there is no cooling Indoors or outdoorsAlso we ordered a couple of bites that were good
Drinks and cozy vibe absolutely on point 👌🏼
