I went on a Saturday evening around 7pm. The doorman was quite nice. The bartender though was rude, extremely indifferent. No smile - very curt in stating that credit cards require a two drink minimum. I found a $10 bill to pay for my $9 beer, and of course I was going to tip, but the bartender didnt even return for me to make the gesture of leaving a tip. He just took the money and didnt return. The crowd was typical, Id say. They seemed to know each other. In all, Gym Bar is certainly not as friendly as Flex, where the bartenders are extremely friendly and where they even smile. I used to go to Gym Bar every time I was in NYC. I will not be going there again unless they have bartenders who at least feign a modicum of friendliness.
This is a shady bar! I brought a drink in this bar, and then I said hello to someone at the bar. The person got very nasty and shady just because I said hello. This short caucasian queen that worked at the bar ask me to leave for no reason at all. I said what did I do, but the short queen insisted that I leave. If I could rate this bar a zero, I would immediately. I left the bar and said I’ll never go back there ever. I always thought bars supposed to be friendly, But the staff at this bar isn’t nice at all .
Bartenders just stare at you. No conversation nothing but make sure to give you enough change to tip. Wont waste my money there again. Not very friendly or inviting
Spent Pride Weekend at this place , the Bartending Staff was Extraordinary and the atmosphere was amazing. The DJ kept it pumping. What a great place! Their drinks were oh my, so delicious! I recommend GYM BAR NYC! A must visit.
Went to Gym Bar late this afternoon, 6/25. Went to the downstairs bar and ordered a Heineken 00. When I gave the black bartender with the dreadlocks two $5s, I expected $3 bucks back (my first Heineken 00 at the upstairs bar was $7, and I gave the bartender a $3 buck tip. The bartender downstairs didnt even hand over the change; he just threw it in the tip bucket. That wasnt right. Not right at all. But I still love Gym Bar !
Its a great neighborhood bar that has reasonably priced drinks. The guys there are of a more broad variety than some of the other gay bars in Chelsea. However the music is pretty loud so its a hard time talking with a friend or flirting with a guy. If you dont mind smoke the patio can be a good space but its intolerable during the harsh NYC winters.
Ok- I love this place. It is a fun bar- the scene is there for a good time and the drinks arent really expensive at all. You can go in for a game or go in to shoot some game (if you catch my drift), but really its a pretty big space with a significant amount of selection and the neighborhood is rather welcoming as well. They are powered by wind energy according to their window decal so its a home run for me to help support a business that cares about reducing their footprint.Really like coming here right off the L train- its a fun place to meet up.
Love this place and what i’m assuming is its counterpart in Ft Lauderdale. Little bit of a tight fit but the dance floor down stairs is a good time. Bartenders are fast and attentive, just be nice.
For years, one of my favorite bars in Manhattan. It gets pretty packed during happy hour with BOGO drinks (a dangerous good time lol). Bartenders are cool, crowd is pretty chill, and every now and then the gay rugby, softball and soccer teams stop buy for drinks. (Insert drool emoji and maybe an eggplant.)
Used to be a trustworthy place until todayWalked in and asked if there were any drink specialsWas told Smirnoff was the vodka specail at $7 from 1P to 7P, I believeI definitely did not get Smirnoff on my second cocktail from Collin S.No wonder there are better, so-called, gay sportsbars to go to on W 20th besides this shady sh$thole
One of the best gay bars in all of Manhattan. I met three sweet guys from Columbus Ohio and they bought me the perfect cosmopolitan.... this is one gay bar in all of New York that has no attitude!
Gym really was an historic achievement. When they opened they were the hottest bar in Chelsea at the height of the neighborhoods popularity. Its still a solid spot for some good cocktails and friendly staff. Regular drink specials. Its still probably the hottest bar in Chelsea though the competition has faded away. That Gym has endured is a testament to the bar.
Love this place. Bartenders and staff are sweet and pleasant. Owner is a strong supporter of the community, sponsoring numerous gay league teams (including Rugby!! Say whaaaa!! #gothamswithu) Thanks Rick, we know you work hard 😊
Cool gay sport bar in Chelsea. Love to go to this place specially during happy hour. The drinks are cold and in a large cup and they have draft beer as well. It have 2 floors, one of the rooms is open during specific time and dates. The staff is very friendly and professional. Great place to listen music or just chill. Great location. It have arcade games and a pool. Laid back place, you dont really need to dress up for enjoy a good time. One of my favorites bars in Chelsea. So if your looking for a laid back , relax and comfortable place to enjoy a beer and your favorite game, this is the place.
Very nice club, bar. Many screens with different sportactivities. Nice music and super friendly staff!!! Gay friendly. For sure to recommand to everybody!!!
Despite its name sports are not the main attraction at this bar, which is fine. Poor layout causes a very narrow path to enter/exit the bar though. If its open head downstairs for a slightly less crowded experience.
Neighborhood gay sports bar.Crowd varies by day. Lots of TVs and pool table in the back. Good drinks friendly staff.Downstairs is another darker bar for over flow.
Drinks are a fair price. I went during gay pride so the place was packed on that day but the crowd was nice. Has two floors and seating.
Good spot. Crowded at times. Love sports bars growing up...finally a gay one. Good beer and drinks and cool staff.
Blue margarita was yummy. The bartenders are very nice. They call you babe and make you feel very nice. I come here after work to chillax and its all about a good talk, good drinks and sports on the screens. Lol 😅
Always a good time. The best happy hour in town The bartenders know what theyre doing. Not too strong but definitely not weak. ☺️
Love this bar , and the first bar that welcomed us when we moved to nyc 😘 wednesday is friday is our nights
There’s a more mature crowd but everyone’s nicer… And the bartenders are nice... strong drinks!! Big too.
Laid back gay sports bar in Chelsea. Staff are friendly as are the patrons. Theres a basement level too with free coat check.
An ok chelsea gay bar with several projector showing sports events (baseball, football, etc.). decent mix of people... though g has it beat in terms of feel and diversity.
Good gay sports bar. Happy hour on weekdays is a great value. TVs play sports but the audio is gay pop.
Load gay bar. Good place to meet those you know. Mainly social for beer conversation event....before the average guy goes online to find a hook up...
Love this bar. Cute crowd, great affordable drinks, fun place to enjoy a drink.
Love the spacing and seating during the pandemic. It was a great place to watch the NCAA men’s Final Four.
Easily my favorite gay bar in NYC. Big drinks, strong pours, nice bartenders, and cute guys.
Great happy hour prices, awesome staff and strong drinks. What more could you ask for?
Great place to hang with friends and grab a few drinks. Happy Hour is 241
A local Chelsea gay sports bar. They have an outside smoking area. Pool table in back. Draws in a rough gay crowd. Not much room to sit down.
One of the best bars in nyc. Great atmosphere music is always good and the drinks are strong which is necessary. Vibe baby vibe
Great for meeting people, nice atmosphere! Drinks are not too expensive
Love the place. Strong drinks and welcoming staff Juan, Erik and the whole crew.
Great drinks, sports bar, bar food is excellent and great pricesService is great
Diego is so great. I love when he sings as he works.
My favorite bar in the world. With beautiful people and great service.
Great bar but the bartenders are not that great.
Music is a bit loud, but over all is very laid back and friendly bar.
Fun great place to good for a drink and meet people from all walks of life.
An all around okay gay bar. Nothing too snazzy, nothing too grimy. Delicious margaritas though!
Amazing place. I usually meet with friends there. nice place to spent a good night
A great bar if you like hairy daddy guys. masculine crowd
They changed the staff at the door, plus they changed the bartenders. Great experience I had at this bar. I definitely have to go back to the sports bar again.
Love gym bar, your friendly gay neighborhood bar, featuring amazingly affordable drinks!! Please dont ever go away, gym bar!
Boys , it’s time to replace the faded rainbow 🌈 flag outside. Looks more beaten than Betsy Ross’ flag coming home from the war.
First ever gay bar I went. I really like the ambience. Its a sport specialized bar which is very cool if you want to watch matches of any sports. Nice service and friendly people !
Local crowd with a few vacationers makes for a great place to feel comfortable and have a drink while being served by a very consistent and polite staff. Clean and open spaces, and you can get a poker chip with a happy hour drink and use it then or later (on the specified days and hours)
Ok hang loose spot for happy hour. Drink specials.
Been coming to gymbar since day one... 18 years ago! The staff is amazing and the drinks are also amazing.... congratulations on 18yrs and to many more
Nice bear bar. Good drinks. Good price.
Great happy hour and atmosphere. It gets pack after 7pm
Gays and sports, two great things that go great together!
The nicest and warmest bartenders in New York. Genuinely great bar, welcoming to all. They also don’t charge you $20 to walk inside and $4 coat check, unlike some other bars on the west side. Drinks are strong also.
Big servings of cocktails (and quite strong), good atmosphere and variety of sports to watch on the TV monitors all around the establishment. I often come here as its a great vibe.
Fair prices. Very friendly gay Bar!
Great bar I love it there.
Sadly this place has changed for the worst. The customer service here use to be absolutely amazing with some of the friendliest bartenders in Manhattan. However, this past weekend I was met with some of the nastiest service I’ve ever had in my life. I came in during Halloween in my costume and attempted to order a drink. The one particular worker was serving someone a drink then walked away when I tried to order. I went to the center of the bar where he was thinking he didn’t see me. He continues to ignore me and then when I speak to get his attention he points to the other worker. Someone at the bar then tells me he’s a bar back. After, I’m waiting for the “bartender” to take my order. He purposely makes sure he doesn’t come back to the center of the bar and keeps asking people on the other end of the bar if they need refills, when they have full drinks. Yet I’m literally standing there for ten minutes and keeps avoiding making eye contact with me. What’s the issue? Is it a race issue? Is it because I’m dressed in a feminine outfit? After he’s forced to come to the center to go to the register. I speak up to get his attention and he then points to the bar back to take my order instead of him. I’m lost, I thought he couldn’t serve drinks? Why is this taking so long? The bar back finally comes to take my order with an attitude and rolling his eyes. I place my order. He comes back and tells me the price. I didn’t have enough cash so I wanted to use my card. He said it was a 2 drink minimum for card. Fine. I ask him to make my drink a double, he said it already is a double. How? I didn’t order a double? I then say okay then can you add a shot and would that count as two drinks. He then asks me if I’m okay? I said yes and I was confused why he was asking me this? I’m just trying to pay for the drink! I’ve been waiting 20 minutes at this point! He then says he’s not serving me because I have an attitude then yells at my friend who use to work there and says he doesn’t like my “attitude” and he’s not serving me. Excuse me what?? My friend comes over and tells him to put the drink on his tab to rectify the situation. I was shocked to see a place the touts “inclusivity” treating a BIPOC terribly because they’re dressed in a feminine manner. I get this is supposed to me a “man’s bar.” But that doesn’t give you a right to treat patrons terribly because they don’t fit the image you want in your establishment. Shocking and disgusting behavior. I’ve been going here for over 5 years and I’m shocked at how this new generation of bartenders are treating people. Never had this issue in Wilton Manors or WeHo either. But I see the Chelsea location has changed. Shameful. Won’t be back ever.
Good place to go !
Always fun and great happy hour
☆☆☆☆☆Oh well on of the best happy hours in town allways crowded.☆☆☆☆☆
Great service at a Sports Bar. Drink specials everyday from open to close. Always the best games to watch. Nice drink selection based on the day of the week. Intelligent staff and good music. Free coat check when its that season. Always holiday aware. Good Times regularly.
Sorry, Im customer. I LOVE this bar, but today , friday June 9 the big bartender in the left corner was the worst bartender.
Basement bar is the place to go for a cheap drink without the crowds upstairs
Ratchet sports bar thats popular with the lgbtqs. Drinks are cheap.
Fun lively gay sports bar.
On May 5th there was a guy with a sombrero screaming “happy cinco de Mayo” and acting stupid and being cheered back by other patrons. How’s that still acceptable? That kind ignorance should not be tolerated specially at a gay bar where patrons might had experienced discrimination based on stereotypes and the most importantly based on the ignorance of other people who assumed that this kind of behavior is still a joke.
The place has great bar staff. Fun to go to have a drink. Ive never been past happy hour but Im sure it gets busy. There is a down stairs area as well for coat check. If you do smoke there is a patio on the front.
Regular for years - discriminated against by tired bitter old queen nasty bar tender(s) - broken down environment; drinks typically with an air of a cheap medicinal quality. Met a near and dear friend for his birthday and made eyes with the bar tender I had had issues with in the past so sat at the other end of the bar to be served by someone else. Drink orders were taken, drinks were presented, had a sip of my red bull whilst my friend had a sip of his beer, card was handed for payment and I was asked if I wanted to open a tab. Next thing I knew the same bar tender who had taken my order and brought my drinks said Im sorry sir your not welcome here you need to leave and please dont ever come back as the drinks were taken away. Well Ill tell you what this is the absolute dirtiest I have ever been treated and really if the other bar tender had an issue with me there are a number of ways this could have been handled in a much better fashion something simple as take it easy tonight considering I had been four times since she and I had our unpleasantry. I certainly will never go back to this filthy watering hole that always smells like a dingy bathroom (located right in the center door always propped open). Clearly its time for some people / places to throw in the towel. Looking forward to new venues, fresh faces and the world class customer service for which New York is known.
Gym bar is a fun and friendly gay bar! Their happy hour specials are great and the bartenders pour great drinks. It does get crowded in the evenings!
Great place friendly people. Great bartenders. Look for Eric when you go there. He makes great drinks and is very friendly.
Our favorite gay bear sports bar in NYC!
Awesome bar even friendlier bartenders.
I love the energy. I love the crowd. Very fun and welcoming. The bartenders are always attentive and on point and are very friendly. I love you guys ❤
Sister please. Friendly bar and they pour heavy. What more could you ask for?
Basically a dive bar but maybe one step up because of pool table .
Good drink deals, sassy staff
Great atmosphere mostly gay male establishment for eating and socializing with your friends grabbing a drink for happy hour watching sports on television and having viewing parties and the basement which is the locker room. The drinks are huge and cheaply priced $8 got you a giant pint-size mixed drink . Always have a good time enjoy the bartending staff, and always someone hosting a night there that I know whether it be karaoke shout out to Ari Kiki !! Definitely stop by this is definitely a place for the boys but girls are welcome to :-)
Walking all day I stopped for lunch and beer. No food. Beer was great people were really nice. Then I realized I was in a gay bar.
Great vibe, had an awesome time watching the NBA finals. Great food and everything you want in a sports bar .
Amazing place. I was visiting during the Pride Week and it was too crowded but still cozy. Interesting people and non expensive drinks.
High drink prices, lots of attitude clique.
Between a comedy and a tragedy this one is a disaster
Great mature crowd. The draft beers are amazing and I love the pool table and the competitiveness of great players.
Good bar, most of the time decent bartenders but you got the few that think they still live in the Midwest and dont realize they are working at a NYC bar. Decent happy hour with two for one with reusable chips.
Stiff drinks, great sports bar atmosphere, friendly and sexy staff! Tis a true gem, also very diverse!
Great bar, great staff
Place to watch drag race on Fridays!
Wonderful staff, great pours.... Easily congested
Pretty standard sports bar. Went on a Saturday night (1am) and played pool. Crowd is 30s+
Excellent place! Friendly staff and patrons...Good looking and friendly door guy. Drinks and bartenders awesomely thurst quenching...music loud and great. Will frequent This Bar!
Cheap drinks. Cheap clientele. But a decent time for gay guys looking for a low class, low key place to watch sports and play pool. It feels kind of worn out but some people really like it.
People are very friendly, it’s in my district, so I like to come by for a drink. Pretty similar to Boxers
Great atmosphere and drinks.
Great staff and the drinks are cheapest around. Not going to find another gay bar like that.
Friendly crowd and great bartenders
Fun neighborhood bar with laid back diverse crowd. Erich is the best!
Gay sport bar. I personally like Boxers more but this one is okay.
Good crowd in a casual pub space... perfect to take a break from all the scene...and they have a happy hour with two for drinks...
Chill gay bar with great margaritas. Great for happy hour.
Always a good place to hang out in the area.
I went with friends so I had a great time but definitely a place for the daddies
Cheap drinks. Lots of interesting people and interactions.
Friendly gay sports bar with 2-4-1 happy hour until 9pm. If it’s open, go downstairs to the Locker Room for a pick-up game of Flip Cup.
- everyday there is a happy hour drink special- the boys here are super friendly (even to straight girls hanging out)- restrooms are a bit questionable- great patio to people watch
Fun place and chill crowd. Good happy hour deals.
Typically overcrowded and the douchebag Factor can be hi. Probably better for tourist and neighborhood douchebags as opposed to someone thats just looking to have an enjoyable night out.
This place is great everyone is friendly and the bartenders are fantastic
Bears and otters everywhere! Friendly place w cheap drinks.
Popular club! 2 levels. Good times. Crowded with 30s-40s-50s year old.

Pretty sad place. Weird vibe, $7 for a Corona, unimpressed by the crowd. Will not go back.
Small crowded, after hours, great service by Eric.

My favorite bar when going out with my friends. Usually the music is not very loud which allows you to chat. Larger drinks than in other bars, at a lower price and with more alcohol. I definitely dont change itMy favorite bar when going out with my friends. Usually the music is not very loud which allows you to chat. Excellent atmosphere, well attended, well located, and with reasonable prices for snacks and pizzas. Good for drinking in the late afternoon.
