Has to serve one of the best shepherds pie that I’ve ever eaten. Seriously. The others enjoyed their chicken & burger as well.Nice little neighborhood pub. Good service. Clean bathrooms.
Swung by on a Saturday night, the regular crowd was strolling in. No reservations needed but was filling up the later it got. A very comfortable spot in Midtown East. Pretty good fish and chips, The Sirloin was a value. The service was very friendly.
Some friends and family recently held a memorial brunch service at Parnells and it was a really lovely time. The staff at Parnells are top notch people - friendly, fast, thoughtful, and caring. For what was at times a somber occasion, the Parnells crew took care of all of us. Never had an empty glass or plate that lingered. Food was great - fresh and cooked just right. Big thank you to the Sunday morning crew at Parnells for serving good food, good spirits, and friendly smiles.
Was treated to a birthday dinner - nice place with excellent service - open mic night too - highly recommended!
Very good. Potatoes were cold but still good. And a free drink with brunch. I was happy with the prices too.
Pub restaurant with tasty food options. Kind and positive service, dish size is on a good price for unexpectedly big meals. 😍
Amazing local Irish bar! You have to try the shepherds pie! Great fish and chips as well. Great food, great service, and great staff! Fresh Guinness on tap all served with a smile. Highly recommended.
Very good, great food, service and atmosphere.
Still has very good chicken pot pie! Burgers are great! Has good brunch selections! Service is still good! Not very expensive
I’ve been here a few times over the past couple years to meet with a friend/business colleague who is a regular. In midtown Manhattan it’s hard to find bars anymore that are nice and still have a “local feel”. This place is great. The atmosphere is nice . The burger is great and the drinks are very fairly priced for Manhattan. Very close the the UN and Consulate district so you get a nice blend of folks from time to time . Cheers!
Consistently good food and service is great except after 9pm they close the back dining room, strange because the restaurant is open until 11 most nites and the kitchen is in the back. Depending upon the night the cuisine can be spectacular. The special 3-taco special is superb as well as Duck a lOrange if you hit a nite when the real chef is there. Fantastic warm atmosphere, tablecloths, well-spaced tables. We are extremely lucky to have such a well-run, lovely pub in our neighborhood. I take all guests and friends there. They love it too!BTW some nites there are drunk people sitting at tables who shout loudly when speaking, but they are cheerful and mean no harm - part of the atmosphere!
Didn’t have food but ambience was great and lovely lady behind the bar … wine was ok - no selection and quite expensive
Quiet lunch, great food. Service a bit slow, but fortunately we were not in a hurry.
Great Irish food, great service, great beer. Its bigger than it looks in the back in the dining area, and the noise from the bar area wasnt as loud as I thought it would be. You can sit in the back and forget that theres a bar up front, you can enjoy your meal.
Amazing food
Would like to rank it higher, because of a great bartender Ray and decent food. But, a different bartender kept telling everyone a story about a fight he had, using loud and vulgar language that had people asking him to shut up
Thank you.I should have written thank you sooner.Thank you for a stopping the leaf blower.Prior review:PLEASE STOP USING A LEAF BLOWER THAT DISTURBS YOUR NEIGHBORS AND CUSTOMERS!WHY IS IT ALRIGHT TO DISTURB THE PEACE OF THOSE LIVING HERE WHEN YOUR EMPLOYEE CAN USE A BROOM.BE DECENT!BE CONSIDERATE!PRIOR REVIEW:PLEASE TELL YOUR EMPLOYEE TO STOP USING A LEAF BLOWER THAT DISTURBS THE PEACE AND QUIET OF YOUR NEIGHBORS/CUSTOMERS!!PLEASE!PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF THE VERY PEOPLE WHO KEEP YOU IN BUSINESS.
Excellent food. The Guinness was poured properly and tasted great.Amazing staff. The place is vibey and the outdoor seating is great!!!Highly recommended!!!!
Great food, Pleasant atmosphere. Sports bar feel in the bar area, intimate Jazzy setting in the back. Classic Irish menu, but some nice American touches. Salmon was good, shepherd pie was excellent.
First and last time getting food here. I was excited to try this place as weve heard good things and its only a block away from our apartment but were very disappointed. We called in to see if they could make cheese quesadillas for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian since they only had chicken quesadillas listed on the menu. They offered to put beans and corn salsa in it, which we really appreciated. We ordered a steak sandwich medium rare which came with spicy fries according to the menu. We picked up our meal but needless to say the quesadillas were simply cheese, steak sandwich was well done and mostly chewy fat and it came with just regular fries, not spicy. It looked unappealing and tasted even worse. Well definitely not be back. Its a shame since we had high hopes.
Nice, quiet pub with a nostalgic vibe. Live music on some nights. Bartender was fantastic. I ordered the shepherds pie. I cant say its anywhere near the best Ive had, but it was hearty and warm. Cant complain.
Parnells is one of the last of the old-time bar-and-grills that I know of in my neighborhood. It has a similar feel as the gathering place of my friends and I during and after the time we attended NYU, the Cedar Tavern. Both establishments knew how to char-grill burgers, setting themselves apart from the others that heat up the burgers on a steel slab. (Jackson Hole is a notable exception to this quasi-indictment.) However, today being Easter Sunday, we elected to order the Sunday Dinner Special, turkey with trimmings. It was fine, as was the service. They always have had outdoor seating in the summer+ months, but thanks to the CCPVirus restrictions, they have expanded and partitioned the seating area, and have provided space heaters for those who feel ill from the chill. We will return, especially since we didnt get the burger that propelled us to Parnells in the first place.
Stopped here at this pub like atmosphere for Lunch. Awesome corned beef sandwich and had the soup of the day-tortilla soup. Just the right amount of spices. They have it spot on with Irish and Mexican cuisine.
Great cozy atmosphere and best of all not too loud!
Food was slightly above average but nothing special. Resturant was busier than other nearby restaurants so believe must have good clientele in the area. Staff was very pleasant and attentative. Felt they were COVID19 attentive and felt safe eating here.
Horrible place would never go. Worst service ever after trying to just grab a drink.
Great historic atmosphere. Good service with quality food. Menu needs updating.
This establishment had zero consideration for the general public. They place their signs in the middle of sidewalk for the general public to navigate around. No respect for the community. Manager or owner was incredibly rude and even stated it’s was the second complaint of the day and he did not care. Choose if you’d like to support a business that seems to not care about social distancing.
Whether you’re a local or visiting NYC, Parnell’s is a fantastic spot. The food is consistently delicious and the service is exceptional. Colm, Phil, and Ambrose are all outstanding at providing a fun, inviting atmosphere.
Serious piano bar party inside. Not my thing, so it was nice to sit outside at a sidewalk table. Decent food, decent service.
Nice bar.
Stopped in for a quick beer with my girl, bar keep not very friendly unless youre a regular it seems and pricey, but maybe we got the tourist pricing ;-) Wont be going back.
Old fashioned Irish pub. The food is generally good, but I got heartburn after eating the chicken pot pie. I recommend the fish and salads.
Before Covid Parnell’s was mediocre at best. I gave them several months after reopening and the food is disgusting we have thrown away many meals. Not once has anything been ok. Everything is old, dry and gross. Stay away
Very nice local Irish pub. We did not order food just beers. We had A great time here.
This is a nice and relaxing place considering its in busy Manhattan. It has a nice atmosphere and good food and drinks selection also good and friendly service. We stopped for lunch and it was worth it.
Food was good but the drinks were kinda watered down. Place was quiet and service is good.
Bad behavior from the fat man at the bar
Actual Irish staff :) good food, cocktails arent fancy but they do the trick. Convivial atmosphere
I ate at the bar and watched a baseball game. Perfect place to do it.
Had a chicken sandwich, tasted great! Good service.
They had Sipsmith Gin. Won my heart. Ray is a lovely bartender!
Food is good but the beer is better. Staff are attentive, but the food is on the pricey side.
Nice service and warm welcoming environment. I wish theyd up their food game just a bit more and it would be a real winner. Some things are very good, but small things like the fries having that horrible frozen bag taste that make it an uneven experience.
Parnells is a class act all the way around. Whenever my wife and I are in the city we make a specific trip just to come here!
Really good food and the Irish Soda Bread is out of this world. Thats how we knew the other good would be great.
Nice eating outside. One error either our order.
If youre looking for something lowkey and delicious, this is the move.
Solid selection of beers and food, service was excellent and staff was polite.
A perfect fixed price($10) lunch of soup, and plated scallops with rice and fresh salad greens served to a couple of weary travelers who needed a lunch break. Thanks Parnell!
Outstanding service as always and Phil the bartender couldnt be a better host
Wings are $17 for 8 mediocre wings. Mash potatoes are not good.
Leify, the bartender, is one the main reasons to go for something special. The food and drinks are just as expected but the best experience is at the bar.
Adequate food and poor service from the waitstaff. The bartender was friendly and did try to make up for it.
First time visit for this local stalwart ... solid pint and good food. Cant go wrong.
The prime rib was excellent, although they need to update their menu on the website.
Really nice pub and the shepherds pie was THE best Ive ever had.
Had a grand time and great selection of entrees... oh I went on a Wednesday and the musicians were fab.
Old school! Proper pub.Nyc history/ great menu
Cool place but the food too knsoblong it was unpleasant.
A real Irish pub with a piano bar entertaining you thru your meal. Fun with food.
Met a friend for drinks during the week.
Stalwart neighborhood pub. Never disappoints. Great food, drinks and service.
Great staff. Ambrose is a great bartender And some tasty food.
I had a delicious lunch with really good service. Going back asap
Did not eat had beer on tap. Nice place, friendly staff.
Great fun on Wednesday night with Johny Dell. Food is great.
Just got a couple of beers but us tourists were welcomed in and heard regulars greeting each other by name. Great place
It wasnt lively or noisy, but the food was good. They were out of some items on the menu, but they also had some things not listed which caught me by surprise.
While the chicken breast was great, the sandwich bun was stale at least twice.
Have been there twice with friends. Food is excellent and the service is also!! So nice. Will recommend and will go again.
Been around for a generation because its a great place to drink and eat.
Wonderful outdoor dining area and delicious food
Consistent with their menu. Good food.
Really great pub, fresh beer, good options to eat and beautiful place. Service was great at thr bar also. Ill come back for sure.
Great outdoor seating and friendly staff.
Food is very good. Drinks too!
Awesome service! Local place and felt like home! the food was great also.
Live music on Saturday nights. Week nights are much quieter
Had dinner reservations around the corner....so we couldnt stay longer. We wanted to stay longer...really yummy Manhattan. Didnt get that weird you walked into the wrong bar feeling....quite cozy and friendly
I loved this spot for my local Irish pub. It has a total neighborhood crowd in the evenings. Everyone knows everyone and the bartenders are friendly. Ive actually never had the food there! Drinks are pricey, but strong. Great spot!
Great place. A gem. I passed this place millions of time but never tried. But I could not have lunch and they offered a early bird (dinner) special. Only $20 soup and salad inclusive. Atmosphere was cozy and nice female server (with a lovely accent and I love diversity in area!). I added an Irish beer too. I regret that I did not much earlier but will come more times for food and beer
This is medium sized pub style bar and restaurant with a small countryside town feel in Midtown-East Manhattan. Friendly bartenders and wait staff compliment an impressive menu. The seafood is always fresh and the appetizers are thoughtful. An excellent destination for casual lunch or dinner.
Good atmosphere. Decent prices.
Great service, great brunch menu
Good food, great entertainment
Had a couple drinks with a friend after dinner. Bartender was friendly and made good drinks. He checked on us regularly even though he was behind the bar alone. Clientele is on the older side, atmosphere is laid back.
Had the best Thanksgiving lunch! Great and fresh food with very pleasant service. They are being very careful about distancing etc.
People should know to respect one of the last great neighborhood bars. Staff is stellar. The Thursday night bartender with the choice playlist knows how to set a vibe. Last of a dying breed, the place itself and the patrons.
Great 50 yrs old pub. Outdoor seating was very comfortable on the side street rather than on the noisy Avenue. Hamburger was perfect.
Great food! Great bartender
Not your normal fake Irish pub. This place is the real deal. The food is well prepared and service is impeccable.
I enjoyed the lentil soup, the shepards pie was also quite tasty. The staff was attentive and friendly. I look forward to returning.
Usually a good spot, tonight burgers ordered medium rare came like hockey pucks, crunchy on the outside. No servers stopped back until i managed to finish mine, but my wife could hardly take more than two bites of hers. When the server finally came back she offered to make a new one, but by that time we had been with the food for half hour and just wanted to leave. The waitress couldnt have cared less and charged us full price when there was obviously a full plate of food practically untouched. So very disappointing that the food has gotten so bad and the servers who couldnt care less. It will be a long time until i return
Great lunch, great conversation. Great pub I recommend you stop in if ever given the chance
Very nice local Irish Pub. Typical comfort food, i.e. Shepherds Pie, Stew, fish n chips, etc. Food good. Great Irish bartenders n wait staff. Mostly neighborhood people with a smattering of tourists n people in town for business.
Second time there and enjoyed everything. Decent cocktails at the bar. Excellent calves liver fabulous burgers and fish and chips.
Good food and serviceWinter stew was delicious and helped to escape the cold chill outsideSo did the wine
Food and service are great, the prices are the best in the area, drinks arevery generous, after going to all the expensive restaurants in the areawith $$$$ bills, Parnells became our favor spot,we always leave satisfiedand happy. Highly recommended
We had 6 for lunch. Parnells was perfect. Food was just right for all 6 palettes.
Scot Abertson sings every other Friday. The food is good. Its always fun.
English pub, great atmosphere with service to match
A true down to earthr neighborhood place. Great burgers, Shepherds Pie, fish n chips. Heard they also have Karaoke on Sat nights.
The greatest: Colin! The guy after is hilariously stupid. I love this place for Colin, but theyve always discriminated against who gets to enjoy the spot and who doesnt in the evening. So until that changes, no thank you.
Ambrose is the best and the reason we love this place. Absolutely amazing service, music selection and conversation.
Did take out. Very good burgers
Very good food. We enjoyed our visit.
Still a great place to grab a Guiness with friends.
Good food, cozy atmosphere, entertaining music.
Its a fun local bar. The food is excellent
Cozy on a bitter cold NYC evening. French onion soup and shepherds pie were just what the doctor ordered!😉
Near to UN with a combo of bar and restaurant. Service was kind of late but over all an acceptable place for single, couples or group of 04
Excellent food, friendly staff, very clean And Brian is awesome!
Love the corner table with wall of fame
Exceptional service, warm & cozy atmosphere.
Everyone is soooooo nice here!! Seriously a hidden gem.

Great spot! The food was delicious!
Lovely set lunch menu
The service was horrible the food was horrible the waitresses look exhausted And one waitress was smoking a cigarette instead of taking out orders another waitress was extremely rude and just bought her food out on the table and just left it there
Heavy pours, okay food.. clean

Decent pub
Great food!!!¡!
Great food
Great Burgers
Great local place
The food is good, the service is good and its a nice place. The menu offering is varied and the prices are average for the area. The environment is pleasant with the old fashion style, you can sit comfortably at the tables or on the leather armchairs or have a drink at the counter
Typical Irish-style pub, there is a quiet and muffled atmosphere in a perfect dim light for drinking a good beer or eating typical Irish-US mix dishes. At the table or on the classic stools at the counter, a courteous and rapid service listens to you and satisfies your orders. There is also good free wi-fi.
A very very nice place where there is a quiet atmosphere, to go with friends and enjoy a very pleasant time. They have an excellent menu, good prices. Clean bathrooms. An excellent option if you are in this area of the EastSide. Close to the E, M and 6 subway, also the R, Q
A great restaurant among the places in the upper east, with very kind and attentive service. The value is very honest and the food was great. I loved.
I was passing by and decided to have a bite to eat. The room closest to the entrance near the bar is noisy and crowded. It’s quiet in the back, sometimes elderly people come in (in the forty to forty-five minutes that I spent here, I saw only elderly people). Very tasty and suspiciously inexpensive. In Moscow, for that kind of money you can only eat at fast food.
Its not cheap, but you shouldnt hesitate! The wine selection is great. Its not cheap, but Its really really good. The selection of wine so excellent too.
Good location (new location, 350 East, 53rd Street (First Avenue) NYC for about 1 monthLarge selection of beers, both NYC beer like Brass and many imported beers like Becks or Leffe. Kitchen absolutely recommended, the selection is a little smaller than on the online menu but really good. Atmosphere very successful, dark wood, raw bricks, ancient tip cash register and high-quality copper pots on the ceiling as decoration. Typically American, there are several TVs that are usually silent and can be viewed from every corner of the restaurant. Sports and the stock market are shown. Staff very friendly, already on the 3rd visit 2 employees knew us by name (and type of beer). Finally, a small downside, the toilets are clean and absolutely US + standard, unfortunately the cabins are not completely closed, similar to the airports can be a problem for nervous people, but still much better than most other places I know in NYC. Absolute recommendation.
Good classic Irish pub
Excellent attention
A good option
