Despite reading a few mixed reviews, we decided to give this place a try—and I’m so glad we did! Our dinner was absolutely superb, with each dish impressing in its own right. The standout, without a doubt, was the tuna tartare. I’m not usually one to order it, but this dish was so exceptional that I’d gladly return just to have it again. The cheesecake shaped like two lemons was a fun and creative touch, while the ricotta—something I don’t often order—was surprisingly stunning. The meatballs, fried potatoes, lobster salad, and pastas were all delicious and well-executed.The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, making it a great spot to visit with a group of friends rather than a quiet dinner for two. I’ll definitely be back!
We waited over an hour and still didn’t receive our food! This is absolutely unacceptable. On a Friday lunch, my friend came into town, and we were hoping for a nice reunion. While they served the appetizer fairly quickly, the main courses—a simple salad and pasta—never came. I asked the staff about our food three times, and over an hour later, there was still nothing, so we had to cancel the dish and eat somewhere else. The waiter blamed a “large party” for the delay, but if you can’t handle hosting big groups, then don’t accept more guests! To make matters worse, the group seated after us got their food while we were still waiting. This level of service is beyond ridiculous and completely disrespectful to paying customers. I’m appreciate the waiter for taking care our bill but avoid this place if you value your time and sanity!
This place is a fun spot where many people go for a casual after work drink or to celebrate anniversaries. We had the ricotta with truffle honey as an appetizer and tried two of the pasta dishes. Both were delicious! The service was great, I believe our host name was Jose. Service was quick as well. Don’t forget to try the dessert (lemon cheesecake)!
Celebrated my birthday here with my friends. We originally had 7 people coming but 3 could not make it last minute. When we told the host/hostess, I saw them roll their eyes at me. So incredibly rude.Other than the oysters and tartar, the other dishes were incredibly mediocre. Very overpriced for their portion and taste. Don’t get the orange wine.
Bad Roman is a great restaurant with immaculate service and a lovely atmosphere. Very beautiful on the inside. I ordered the Filleto, which is a fillet mignon with a filled Ravioli on top. If you get this please do not order it well done. In order to have a good cook they decided to butterfly the steak. It was a well done steak in two pieces. Medium was more like medium well based the order of the other person I was with. The ravioli on top was hard, not sure if it was supposed to be like that or not. They did correct the mistake which was greatly appreciated and immediate! We also ordered the Garlic Spinach , which was very bland, and the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were spot on and very delicious. The garlic bread is also amazing!!! Only a 4 rating due to the steak but give it a try. It is worth it!!!
Solid 4-star meal here. Atmosphere is great and sitting at the bar is arguably better than at the table, having arrived 30 mins early for my group reservation. Good cocktails. Food has some hits and misses - the whipped ricotta was the best thing to hit our table. In general, Bad Roman feels like it gets a bad rap, but I disagree - it’s a good spot, though a bit pricey, but worth your time to go at least once to try it.
Super fun and beautiful decor and vibe, but food was hit or miss. However! Two of the dishes I got knocked it out of the park so 4 stars. Even though it was a Tuesday it was super busy and service was a bit rushed. The babka was okay, as was the eggplant agrodulce. However the shrimp pasta was phenomenal and the lemon cheesecake a 10 on presentation, texture AND flavor. The pasta had such a lovely citrus flavor and summed up my theory that when it comes to pasta I am an absolute sucker for citrus. The lemon cheesecake was absolute perfection. The texture of the hard white chocolate shell with the smooth creamy cheesecake filling, with bits of lemon! And the crumbs took it over the top!
Wow! I can’t stop raving about this place… Best Cesar salad of my life. Haven’t cleared my plate like this in a month of Sundays! Service was fabulous, authentic, and memorable. Would, have, and shall recommend!
Food here for brunch was excellent. You must try the lemon cheesecake it’s beautiful and so good. Our server Shawna was very nice and answered all our questions. You will need a reservation this place gets very busy. This is an odd comment but the women’s room was very nice and clean.
Fun place. With great food, the space is beautiful and the cocktails were amazing and very well balanced. My guest and I actually think that for the quality of food the price really is pretty good.. the pasta dishes were small but perfectly prepared with really rich sauces and al dente pasta.
Upscale restaurant and dining experience - garlic babka was delicious and pastas were perfectly al dente.Would skip the lobster next time and the tiramisu ice cream cake.Meatballs were mediocre and brussel sprouts were way too sour and sweet.
Oh my gosh, best meal Ive had in NYC! My rigatoni dish was EXCELLENT and everyone in my party loved their food. Our server was so kind and funny and was noticeably eager to make our experience a memorable one. The whipped ricotta and honey was a great starter, too.The dining room is nice and moody with a great ambience. Definitely make a reservation—it was totally full when we arrived and when we left. Very high demand, and for good reason.Would love to come back next time Im in the city!
Loved this place! Pretty loud but spacious. Honestly, their small plates are way better than their pastas. Would definitely come back for drinks and small plates.
Great food and well made cocktails. Definitely get the garlic babka! Came for late lunch service and unfortunately we experienced some of the least attentive and slowest service in NYC we’ve ever had.
Super nice atmosphere and delicious food. We got the 2 pound lobster with pasta which was amazing. For dessert we had the lemon cheesecake which was incredible as well. Both are a must get.
This was such an interesting and unique dinner experience. The restaurant gives off a very high end feel and is a huge restaurant. There were a lot of people so I suggest not choosing this if looking for an intimate setting. The staff was friendly but we did find ourselves with empty water glasses multiple times.I would consider the food Italian but a creative Italian fusion in a sense. Our favorite dish had to be the Filet w/Cacio e Pepe Ravioli on top. The filet was cooked perfectly to a medium rare and the ravioli was al dente and filled with a delicious cacio e Pepe sauce. The Roasted Branzino had this delicious caper sauce that paired really well with the tender fish. One other dish that caught me by surprise was the Roasted Garlic Babka. This bread was straight from the oven and filled with garlic. If you’re a bread lover this dish was a MUST HAVE.
My latest Quality Branded restaurant visit and I must say, my favorite so far. The short rib pappardelle was exceptional, and definitely the standout dish. The pappardelle was perfectly al dente and the ragu didn’t suffer from the one-note tomato flavor trap that a lot of similar dishes face. We also ordered a side of Brussels sprouts but weren’t as impressed as they were slightly over charred, but the pasta was good enough to overlook it. Also the service was fantastic, from the moment we walked in! Thanks Bad Roman!
Wow! Amazing food! The Short Rib Pappardelle was great! The Filetto Cacio e Pepe Raviolo, which our server recommended as it’s their most popular dish is worth the trip to New York!
Absolutely a must restaurant for an amazing meal, drinks and dessert! Love it every time we are in the area. Fantastic and perfectly prepared filet meatballs, filet steak and the Diavolo Caesar Chicken Salad. Try the Lemon Cheesecake…so refreshing and delicious!
I celebrated my 32nd bday at Bad Roman and it was an amazing experience. The food 8, drinks 9 and the atmosphere 10. We had the Roni Cups & Ranch, Spicy Gem Caesar (the best Caesar salad!) for the table to share. Our entrées were the Kale Mafaldine and Chicken Scarpariello Rigatoni. I don’t have photos of the food because we didn’t take any. We stayed well past our welcome as I haven’t seen my good friend in months. We had a lot of catching up to do. Bad Roman provides a mesmerizing, scenic and comfortable environment. I will definitely return and I promise to leave at a reasonable time.
Visited here from London and had Khalil K as our server, he was absolutely amazing, highly recommended. He explained all the food, was so kind and made our experience. Thank you
Wow! What a delightful experience! The food was out of this world! Highly recommend meatballs, fries, salad, and shrimp! So fresh, so tasty!
As soon as I heard it wasn’t impossible anymore to get a reservation, I rushed to grab a lunch resy when I friend popped into town from LA. The space did not disappoint. Very hip setting nestled on the 3rd floor of Columbus Circle.I was very impressed by the grilled filetto salad and black truffle honey whipped ricotta and yellow tall crudo appetizers and and enjoyed my refreshing spritzy spritz summer cocktail
Hands down one of our favorite restaurants ever! We keep coming back for the delicious food, amazing atmosphere, and unmatched customer service! Arzoo and Adrian are the BEST servers and have made our visits to Bad Roman unforgettable. Repeat dishes are the Caesar salad, filet, and sorbet and lemon cheesecake for dessert!
Ugh was hoping it would be as good as it was advertised on socials but it was a hard no.Con: Our table was super wobbly, overpriced, food was subpar (Ravoili had what taste like artificial cheese inside) and service was not good (Server had 7 tables and we barely saw her).Pro: Atmosphere
First, garlic babka - it is a must to start your meal - flaky, garlicky and delicious. Also don’t skip on the whipped ricotta with truffle honey. Food overall was delicious - if ordering a salad keep in mind it is huge. Service also was top notch - from hostess at the front desk to servers and waiters collecting dishes. I read some reviews stating otherwise but honestly we received the best and most attentive service. Prices are high so be prepared to spend a little more. I would definitely come back and highly recommend - especially to try their lemon cheesecake since they serve it only at dinner and we were there for lunch.
Beautiful/elegant/well-decorated and lively space. Food was fantastic. Garlic babka and meatballs were devoured. The grilled veal chop was SO good (the most luscious truffle Marsala!) and the branzino was bright and bold. The sage rosemary fries, simply addictive (and very crunchy!). Lemon cheesecake (deconstructed in the most fun way) was the perfect sweet ending. Great drinks and attentive (but not annoying) staff. High cost but well worth it and the experience wasn’t rushed. Go and enjoy! I’m a local and will go back.
Went here for a friends birthday lunch. The place looks really pretty and fun. I loved the colors and the fun statues around the restaurant. The bathroom was really interesting and fun to look at. The food was also not bad. Our waiter barely came around to see how our meal was. Nor did they come around to refill water. It took a while to get his attention in order for us to get water and a some more bread for the honey black truffle ricotta spread which was fabulous. I enjoyed that very much.We also had the arugula and pear salad which was fine as far as salads goes. I got the strawberry drink which came in a cute cup and was tasty. For the mains, we had the penne with pancetta and it couldve used a bit more sauce but still good. And the chicken milanese was good but a bit dry. Honestly my fav was the black truffle honey ricotta spread and I probably wouldve licked it cleaned if I wasnt trying to be proper. 😂We didnt even want to stay to try dessert since it probably wouldve taken the wait staff forever but we enjoyed ourselves and the food was decent plus it was raining really heavily so we had a place to hide our from the rain and we had a nice view of the storm.
We recently celebrated a birthday at Bad Roman with a group of friends, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Its rare to find such warm and kind service in NYC, but the team at Bad Roman really stood out for their attentiveness and genuine hospitality. They truly made the day special. The food was just as impressive. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. From appetizers to dessert, everything was thoughtfully prepared, and we could tell the kitchen took great care in crafting each plate. Whether youre celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a fantastic meal, Bad Roman is a great choice.
The perfect dining experience, permanently raised my standards for restaurants. We ordered the Roasted Garlic Babka, Cacio e Pepe Raviolo, Rock Shrimp Chittara, and Roasted Branzino.
Had to come back to update my review after my second visit. I had the burger with fries. It was quite possibly the best burger I’ve ever had. It was very nice to go on a day that wasn’t extremely busy as it was a bit quieter. Took my granddaughter with me & thought it was so cute they had a children’s menu available & even sell as children’s shirt. Incredible experience. Can’t wait to go back inI really went into this adventure with extremely low expectations. I’ve seen so many mixed reviews so I’d been hesitant. I only opted to go because it was a last minute idea, and I am a bit baffled at how how anyone could give this place a bad review. The food tasted exactly how it should be if not better. The babka was so light & fluffy with great taste. The whipped ricotta was good. Smooth and buttery then drizzled with 3 separate flavors- truffle, pistachio and sweet chili. The pepperoni cups were much larger and thicker pieces than I’d expected which I found to be a nice surprise & therefore making it well worth the cost. I could have done without the ranch on the side but nothing wrong with it, just a personal preference. The short rib pappardelle was ok. I diidnt find it to be remarkable as the amount of short rib was sparse but an ok taste and size so overall a decent choice. The absolute star of the show was in fact the filet with the cacio e pepe ravioli. A rather large ravioli with a robust flavor. The amount of pepper in the sauce of the ravioli was remarkable. Not a too spicy kind of sauce but a more liven up your sense type. I did not try the lemon cheesecake as I was too full by the time we were winding down to the end. I am a bit sad as I’m certain it would be on par with the rest of the food. Most places I eat that are considered some of the best restaurants in NYC I say they’re a place you may want to try at least once but Bad Roman is a place that is 1000% worth going at least twice.
Read reviews online that it was a good place to go for an anniversary so decided to go here but it was pretty disappointing. The service was not very good, I understand that it’s a busy weekend night, but the server was running around acting flustered and can’t get to you when you need something, and at times just ignored me entirely, which is super frustrating as a guest. I won’t fault the server, but I will fault the management for not staffing enough help for the servers to be able to provide adequate service to all their customers on a busy night. As far as the food I got the Calamari which was absolutely drenched in mayonnaise, the description on the menu didn’t say it came with sauce so you could ask for the sauce on the side, and the server provided no description. I got chicken pasta which was average at best and pretty bland, and my girlfriend got lobster. They were out of pasta and just served it with bread which I’ve never heard of anyone doing. What kind of a meal is lobster and toast. I got the lemon cheesecake which had a fun presentation but the lemon flavor was too strong and borderline overwhelming. Disappointing to have this type of experience on a special occasion and I wouldn’t recommend you go here if you are trying to have a special experience, especially with the multitude of amazing restaurants in New York City
The Penne pasta dish is one of my favorite dishes EVERRRRRR! Also the Amalfi Diet is my new favorite cocktail, I will be trying to recreate it at home! The vibes are super cute and I loveeee all the snake decor. Bad Roman is for sure worth a trip! Highly Recommend!!
Noisy l Crowded! Tacky! Lighting is not my taste, but others may love the redness of it!But food is quite delicious. Food presentation is novel! If you want quiet conversation. Run away! Otherwise, ok!
Had a really great time here. I feel the low rating are just haters because its so good! Perfect blend of delicious food with a flare for presentation. Drinks were lovely as well. We walked in right when they opened and were able to get a seat. The bathroom looks like its from season 2 of White Lotus. Will definitely b back!
The Hype Is Real!!Exceptional Italian fare that lives up to the buzz. The handmade pastas are revelatory, the wood-fired pizzas are dangerously addictive, and the meatballs deserve their own Michelin star.Attentive, knowledgeable, and appropriately paced. They strike the perfect balance between formal and friendly.Sleek, modern design with an energetic vibe. The open kitchen adds a nice touch of theater.Overall, Both times I visited, the experience was outstanding. The food, service, and atmosphere make Bad Roman worth the hype and price tag.Pro Tip: Order the meatballs, truffle pizza, and tiramisu. Trust me on this.
Great food thats original yet feels homey. Quirky decor. The place gets packed after office hours. Accommodating to kids. Definitely worth visiting
Had a wonderful date night here with my amazing girlfriend. We enjoyed all of the dishes we got and our favorite was the whipped ricotta and the lemon cheesecake dessert. I’ll definitely be coming back to enjoy the other things we didn’t try. Service couldn’t have been better as well!
Went to this place for dinner on a weekday. The place got a really nice vibe and ambience. We ordered their bread for the table and tried all their pasta. The food was served at a decent temperature although main dishes came little late. The mushroom taste was bit weird. The place got a really good ambience however provide improve service at scale would improve the customer experience.
Gorgeous restaurant , outstanding service. Excellent food. Wonderful wine listI think everyone should experience this
I hardly give five stars, but this restaurant was able to surprise us in all aspects even with all the hype around it which could’ve set expectations too high. The service was amazing. The food was absolutely fantastic.Deserts were unique.Cocktails spot on.Highly enjoyable and definitely recommended.
Dinner was on 09/27/2024. All around 5 stars. The food was incredible, we had the lobster pasta for 2. Bar service was excellent. We were serviced by 3 bartenders I can’t remember their names but one was tall and bald, one was a young Spanish fellow working service bar and the other had glasses and a short beard. They were all outstanding and made our date night even more awesome.
Came here for lunch and tried the pasta and the bad Roman burger.Pasta was decent. Nothing extraordinary but cooked well and had good flavours. The burger was a surprise and was really good. Cooked medium rare to order and comes with their take on curly fries which were also very good.Would come back for the burger alone.Ambiance is nice. Servers dont check up on you that often but Ive found service in NYC to be lacking post covid outside of Michelin star restaurants so your mileage may vary.
Thinking back to my experience at the Roman restaurant, where I met with about 15 wedding professionals, we were warmly greeted and shown to a private room. The staff were really great, taking care of us throughout our meeting. The food was amazing—each dish was well-prepared and tasted delicious. Overall, it was a wonderful experience with a nice atmosphere, attentive staff, and fantastic food.
Absolutely incredible. Totally worth the hype. Every single dish we had was delicious, especially the caviar gnocchi. The space itself is eclectic and makes for a fun time. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes like the garlic babka! The one piece of constructive feedback is on the service. While our waitress was friendly, we felt rushed to order, but the food took a long time to arrive.
Food 4/10The food was just alright. Very expensive, we spent around $60, and it was just lunch. We didn’t even eat that much. Overall all the dishes tasted too salty but bland at the same time. It was quite confusing. We first ordered the garlic babka, and as someone who enjoys a piping hot fresh piece of bread, this was a sore disappointment. We also got the Penne Luongo alla Gricia, which tasted like nothing so I had to ask for more pepper and salt. The texture was hard but not the enjoyable kind of al dente. Finally, we also go the Filetto topped with a huge raviolo, which was quite cheesy. The steak was solid, but the entire meal just gave me ~salt~.Atmosphere 6/10Yes, it is cool and funky decor, but it just feels kind of gimmicky. I’m sure some people would love this style of restaurant, but it just wasn’t for me. Also, the tables were spaced so close together that it was hard to get out of my seat. I also felt awkward because I could literally hear everything the other tables were talking about, and they could equally clearly hear me.Service 4/10They were trying too hard imo to get their rating up on Google Maps. It was fine service but it felt a bit fake.
Honestly one of the coolest atmospheres I have been to in NYC in a long time. The waitstaff was highly attentive and personal, the drinks were strong and delicious, and the attention to detail in decor was immaculate. The food however was so so for a place with such wild hype around it. The meatballs and the Brussel sprouts were perfection but the red sauce they use in the pasta honestly tasted like the added a cup of sugar to it; yikes for an Italian spot.I will be going back to try other dishes but I would definitely stay away from the pasta till they improve the sauces.
Not sure why this place has such low reviews. We had a wonderful experience here during lunch time with fantastic food. The fillet mignon topped with cacio e pepe ravioli was cooked to perfection. The tuna salad was flavourful and the parpadelle pasta had excellent ragu. The bakka bread was soft, fluffy and garlicky! We loved the decor of the place. The dish sizes aren’t your typical American sized servings but we’re foreigners and these portions are normal in our country.
3rd time here this year. Service has fallen off. Our waiter was inattentive and the entire dinner felt rushed. Veal chop was overly salty and the sauce lacked depth. Couldnt find our waiter toward the end of dinner and kindly asked a different one for the check. He looked bothered and said he would have to find our waiter so that our waiter could offer us the check. Speaks volumes about the culture at this establishment.
Had a great experience here - service is impeccable. While I won’t say this is any of the best Italian food I’ve had, I’ll admit I’m very picky with this cuisine, it is still great food and an even better experience.Skip the meatballs, but highly recommend the truffle whipped ricotta, the rosemary French fries and the Caesar salad were both surprise hits, the filet with a cacio e pepe raviolo was amazing. And before you ask, yes you should 1000% get the lemon cheesecake!
Went for a celebratory bday dinner for my boyfriend and we had a great time! The food overall was fantastic, but the standouts were the filet (cooked a perfect medium rare) with the cacio e pepe raviolo, the lemon cheesecake, and randomly, the brussel sprouts! I honestly cant remember the last time I was so obsessed with a brussels sprouts dish, but I would go back just for that. Also have to shoutout our server Daniel, who was incredibly nice, and he surprised us with the lemon cheesecake on the house when he heard about the birthday. We had also ordered a hazelnut chocolate deconstructed cannoli, but Daniel knew what he was doing bringing us the cheesecake as it was definitely the better of the two desserts. I cant wait to come back and try more of the menu!
We came here for two friends birthday! We had a party of 10. I love the table set up they have. All round tables making big parties so easy to talk and see everyone! Felix was our server. He was so funny, kind and professional. After putting in drinks apps and meals, our server realized that he forgot one dish. To be honest, it wasn’t a big deal we weren’t mad. But Felix and Kendra (guest relations manager) went above and beyond to make our night so special. They brought us a bunch of desserts with candles for our friends. Then covered all the apps and drinks. We are all human and understand people make mistakes. Kendra kept checking on us on and made sure we everything was perfect. Thank you so much Felix and Kendra for making our night so special! Seriously the BEST customer service I have ever had in NYC!!!!
Great Italian food. More classic than Don Angie but still great flavors (tasted like there was a stick of butter in every dish… but not complaining). As a vegetarian, I thought the kale pasta dish was good but the flavors weren’t quite as unique/bright as the Don Angie vegetarian dishes.
Being longtime fans of the Quality Brands, we were very excited about this place. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. Acknowledging that the restaurant recently opened and there may be some issues to work through, these operators are veterans in business so many of misses could not be overlooked.Service was terrible from the onset. The hostess that seated us couldn’t be bothered to wait until we were settled. She handed me the menu while I was still standing - taking off my coat. Our server was very eager to take our order, but was in no hurry to deliver our food. We ordered the whipped ricotta, which was delicious but didn’t come with enough bread. When we ordered an additional side, it took two reminders and 30 minutes to arrive. Entrees took 1.5 hours (!) with pasta and meat dishes coming all at once. All the while, we had influencers sitting next to us shining their lights at us all night to get the perfect shot (if you’ve seen all the content online, you know that this restaurant is very focused on bringing people in, but evidently less focused on taking care of guests once they’ve arrived). The pasta was cooked perfectly, but were dry and needed more sauce. The sauces themselves were unimaginative. The lemon chicken was lemony and delicious. Our very favorite thing was the tiramisu ice cream cake.Bad Roman is aptly named. The restaurant teaches us a lesson in not believing everything you see on IG. I recommend only coming in for dessert. The rest isn’t up to the hype and definitely isn’t worth the wait.
Fantastic vibe, delicious food! Cozy atmosphere, great decor, and the staff are super attentive. Every dish is packed with flavor. We ordered truffle honey ricotta, garlic babka, meatballs and short rib pappardelle, and all of them were delicious. Highly recommend for a top-notch dining experience!
Shout out to our server for getting full menus at the bar seating tables! garlic vodka is a must-have. didnt particularly care for the whipped ricotta with the honey. we didnt feel like the flavors meshed well together. short rib pasta. was good. lobster tail scampi with a little bit dry. The cannoli dessert the cream didnt really have any taste and it was a small serving. really cool atmosphere.
Bad Roman is a great new restaurant located within the Shops at Columbus Circle. I tried this restaurant out during lunch as Ive heard its been difficult to get a dinner reservation here. The food and service at the bar were fantastic. The chicken paillard dish that I had was one of the best chicken paillards that Ive ever tasted. I will definitely be back with the family.
Absolutely loved everything about Bad Roman. The food was delicious and the decor was just perfect. It brings a vintage feel to a brightly colored modern restaurant. All of the drinks were tasty and in great glasses. The booth seating by the windows were enjoyable too. Brightly pink and red inside with fantastic lighting, the place feels fun and festive. We had the yellowtail crudo, the pear salad, and the steak with ravioli on top, which basically gave the steak a delicious creamy sauce. Best steak Ive tasted in a while. We both loved it and will definitely dine here again.
Super happy with our meal! The spicy Caesar salad was so good we would come back just for that. The whipped ricotta with honey was amazing too. Both our pasta dishes were so good even though we did have to do some googling to see what they were. The menu could be a little more descriptive. Cocktails were good too and of course the atmosphere was very Instagram worthy. Will be coming back
Hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. We had the filet with the large ravioli on top. The garlic babka is also a must order. The other two choices were not as lucky. The cappelletti with beef was very dense and really needed the sauce that it came with, which was luckily very delicious. I wouldn’t order it again tho and the others looked better (we chose poorly on that one), also the charred broccoli was a little too burnt in the mouth, where as the char on the steak was perfection. We had a nice glass of Pinot Grigio by the glass. Great stop for our girls trip. Also, we had reservation which was hard to come by and only for a very late lunch (2:15) but when we tried our luck at 1 they were able to take us and in fact looked like there were plenty free, so worth a try even without one.
Bad Roman, bad food. Highly overrated popular restaurant fell flat, and more.Calamari came to the table cold. Server promptly brought out another and it was luke warm. Probably someone else’s order that was waiting for a runner. Seasoning was a bit sweet for my taste.Tuna tartare was okay. Not great. Somewhat bland and boring. Quality of the tuna was good but not good enough to provide the lions share of flavor.Highlight was the pork chop. Juicy, flavorful and yummy. I would eat again.Yellowtail crudo was soaked in vinegar. Barely edible. Such a waste for a lovely piece of fish.Bronzino was okay, needed a bit more seasoning.Chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream drizzled with olive oil wasn’t edible. Chocolate tasted stale. Ice cream didn’t have much of a vanilla taste and the olive oil was overbearing. To top it all off, I had an upset stomach the following 24 hours. Given that dinner for two is a few hundred dollars, I expected better.
Absolutely not worth the hype, which is so disappointing considering the restaurant group prides itself on quality. Managed to get a table behind the bar area by walking in when the doors opened at 5pm. Jamie, our server, was incredible. He constantly checked on us and fulfilled our every need. He was friendly and patient. If only all of my restaurant experiences consisted of staff that are this fantastic. Unfortunately I can’t speak of the food as highly. The ricotta with honey was presented beautifully, but was very strong compared to other ricottas I’ve sampled. The cauliflower dish was served cold, although full of flavour. The tricolore salad was overly dressed and overpowered with sour lemon. The sprouts were decent, but spiced without warning. My companion who ordered the Cacio e Pepe Filet with ravioli and found them to both be alright, but not go together well. There were vegetarian options but for the most part, these were not clearly marked. Overall considering the hype, it was extremely disappointing as far as food quality.
Dont believe the hype. And dont trust InstagramI am sincerely disappointed that this group of seasoned restaurateurs couldnt get this one right. The food and decor of this place was all designed to be instagram-able.... but only thing with that is if it doesnt TASTE good and accompanied with good service noone will come back.Youre a glorified italian restaurant in a mall.I dont care how expensive the meal was, honestly, but nothing we ate was memorable at all.Babka had zero garlic flavor, pepperoni cups (that were clearly dropped by accident) were awful. Chilled artichoke was only saved by the sauces it was served with otherwise flavorless and texture-less.The scallops were tasty and cooked well but the brussel sprouts were lack luster. The signature filet with raviolo ontop.... bland. Nothing amazing.Service was awful. Slow. UnattentiveHow was dessert? Wouldnt knowThey kicked us out (early slow tuesday night with plenty of other 2 tops available) didnt even let us see the menu or offer a to to option. Pathetic and tactless. But watching the table next to use struggle to even cut into the lenon cheesecake dessert didnt make me miss anything. If you want to flip tables make the drinks come faster and dont wait over 20 min to take someones order
This is a place thats been commented on to death in the apps and on social media. I think the way to experience this place is to eat at the bar and share dishes with friends. Everything we ate was very good. Delicious meatballs. Very good chicken al limone served beautifully in a skillet. Pasta with shrimp very tasty. Love the Martini with pepperoncini. And of curse the space is beautiful. I feel the menu is fairly original and has dishes you wont find in the numerous Italian restaurants in nyc. Prices are high but not crazy. You can eat and drink fairly well here for about 100 per person. So despite the naysayers who love to troll I think this place is well worth a visit.
Portion was very generous. I would not say taste of food is amazingly special. But still good. I definitely go more to try other dishes. Interestingly the sorbet was the best sorbet i’ve had so far. (Sorbet it self, not comparing to the sorbet with any other adding on)Service was fantastic. Servers helped me alot to have great experience from the beginning to the end of meal.I normally go restaurants by myself, most restaurants tend to give me a table at bad spots if the party is 1 ppl. but here ,gave me comfortable table to enjoy the meal bymyself. And fancy restaurants tend to be arrogant and impolite once they find out i’m not a native english speaker. But here, no! Everyone was polite and patient to communicate with me. Also when i hesitated to order dessert because nothing caught my eyes. The server strongly recommended the sorbet. And yeah~ i would have regret it if i hadn’t have it. I felt the server truly wanted me to enjoy meal and whole experience. This is one of the rare experiences that the server was genuinely care about customers’s happiness.
Whimsical magical place. Every dish keeps you guessing with wild interpretations that are as beautiful as they are delicious. The lemon cheesecake desert is perfect, each of the pastas is an adventure. The bar is spacious enough to eat if you show up without a reservation.
It is almost impossible to get a reservation- which is surprising because it’s a big place. My favorite part about the place is the vibe. While I did like a lot of dishes - it is one of those places that is hit or miss. My favorite dishes were the whole ricotta, spicy Caesar, and garlic bread bobka. I’d skip the roni cups and pastas if I was to go back. Solid drinks as well
This was our second visit to Bad Roman. We came a bit early for our reservation and the sommelier recognized us from before. She offered me a glass of complimentary champagne. The hostess prepared a beautiful window table for us. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and recommended her favorite dishes. Everything was so delicious. A special shout out to Yvette - the sommelier. Shes pleasant, knowledgeable and very professional. Great restaurant vibe, music, atmosphere, service and food. Cant wait to come back
When Bad Roman opened in the shops at Columbus Circle earlier this year, it took Instagram by storm with its over-the-top decor and playful Italian cuisine. While the omnipresent neon red glow and excessive presentations make for a fun meal, the food and drinks were very hit or miss.absolutely loved the Martini Pepperoncini made with pepperoncini brine and lemon zest, giving it a serious punch of pepper flavor. The Garlic Baba was definitely my favorite food item of the night and would buy loaves to take home. The pastas left us wanting, but the gnocchi with osetra caviar was a hit. And the dessert presentations were fun, but not anything I would order again.Overall, it is a fun spot in Columbus Circle, but is more about the vibes than the food itself.
Overall rating: 4.9 (May)New rating: 4 (Nov)Nov review:In November I went again because my friend wanted to go. Eh. The quality has decreased significantly. The lemon cheesecake was melty vs frozen like last time. The salad was smaller and was over dressed.May review:After months & months of watching the hype, my friend & I were able to get a reservation. Located in the Columbus Circle Mall (which is so weird btw), this kitschy spot will be visited again on a paycheck day.I went on a Monday at 5:30pm & as a POC, I didn’t experience any racism. My waiter was very attentive and super nice. He was also a POC. Of course everyone has their own experience. I almost felt like the service was too fast! There wasn’t any waiting for the food.I read a TON of reviews to make sure I ordered the best of the best. Only get these items:- ‘Roni Cups & Ranch ($11): takes me back to ordering Papa Johns at home when I was a kid 😍- Spicy Gem Caesar ($19): OMG I need to recreate this immediately. If the owner is reading this, pleaseeee send me the recipe 🥹- Pasta E Carne Cacio e Pepe Raviolo Filletto ($53): My friend got Medium and I tried a bite, and it was sooo good. Soo expensively good. I’m still thinking about that one bite! 🤤- Lemon Cheesecake ($19): worth 👏🏽 every 👏🏽 penny 👏🏽 👏🏽I only knocked down a point because it is weird that it’s in a mall. But maybe they had a nice discount for real estate 😅 also all of my pictures are red due to the lighting.I recommend giving it a try, but only order the things I ordered! You won’t be disappointed!!(Also mini rant: I don’t understand all of the complaints that say this is too expensive or too influencer-heavy. You can easily see the menu beforehand with prices & it is located IN A MALL.)
Just had an IMMACULATE dinner at Bad Roman. I love that it’s inside a mall, kind of fun. The inside of the restaurant is like an amusement park for your eyes or like being on mushrooms, so much to look at. Lots of pink - seating, glasses, etc which was cute. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiter Blake helped guide us on our order. We tried all three starters - babka, ricotta and roni cups. All were great but I could eat the babka every day until I die and be happy. We split the caviar gnocchi which was phenomenal and the filet with cacio pepe which was also unreal - perfectly cooked steak and the cacio was YUM! can’t wait to come back to try the salads & desserts!
Current hotspot in NYC: 5 for food/service and 3 for scene/crowd behavior. When we arrived at 4:45pm for the 5pm opening, there were about 100 ppl in line. Once the doors opened, we walked to the check in only to have people who were behind us rush to the bar area and grab seats (even removing stools from the bar and adding them to the high top tables). TIP: If youre here without a reservation at opening time, do not stop at check-in, head straight to the bar area and secure seating. However, in the bar area, they are not supposed to serve the full menu. Somehow we managed to wrangle a menu and were able to order some fabulous food. Those coming in after us were not so lucky. NOW TO THE FOOD: We ordered the filet with the cacio e pepe raviolo and it was DELICIOUS as were the Scallops Picatta and the Charred Broccoli Rabe. For dessert we ordered the Lemon Cheesecake which was good but the Tiramisu Ice Cream Cake looked better. Our Perfect Manhattan cocktails were also excellent. THE DOWNSIDE: They are currently operating at 50% capacity and the crowd control was non-existent. People literally fighting to get our hightop tables. Apparently next week they will be booking at full capacity. For me, this is a stressful dinner situation but only time will tell. It was GREAT to check it out but doubtful I will be back until things settle down.
Adrien is a phenomenal mf server. He was very graceful and always found time to check in a make sure everything was going great while managing other big groups. Like he had a tray full of drinks and managed to check in with a huge smile— 10/10 service. I never once I had to reach out to him for anything it’s like he read our minds! I suggest getting a bottle of wine where as the cocktails are done in two sips :((. I HIGHKEY recommend the short rib papperdeli, My favorite thing I indulged and the ricotta with honey…. Holy shhhh!! I can’t wait to return and try other food menu items!
I absolutely loved this place. Im not sure the reason for the negative reviews but I did not have that same experience. I am pretty strict when it comes to service and food and everything was amazing. I was late and my friends were over an hour late. They still seated me at a high top which was still a beautiful ambiance. The food was top tier and the manager Noah came over and introduced himself and treated my friend for her birthday. The service was great. Even if we couldn’t get our waiter for something specific, other waiters were very helpful. I know this place is touristy and viral but I promise it is worth it. The food was amazing! We ordered the babka, calamari, ribs, oysters and honey ricotta. The entree we ordered was the half and half pasta and steak with cacio pepe topping. Absolutely DIVINE. Give this place a try. You wont be disappointed! Thank you Petros for everything! You made our visit here memorable !
This is not Italian food! The worst customer service in Manhattan. More than half of the restaurant is empty yet they forced me to sit by the kitchen’s door. DO NOT RECOMMEND
New York City has no shortage of unique dining experiences. Seemingly, a new one matriculates every hour, especially on Tik Tok or Instagram Reels. Bad Roman is one of those great white whales. It’s tough to get a reservation. It might be easier to just walk in for lunch, but after months of waiting, an 8pm slot on a Monday evening. My date and I knew what we were getting into and had it all mapped out before hand. The pepperoni cups with ranch may be overrated—and they are—but we got them anyway. The ravioli filet mignon was mouthwatering—jaw dropping delicious. When it came to desert, we couldn’t decided between the lemon cheesecake or the tiramisu ice cream cake. We chose the latter. No regrets and we’ll be back to try the former. The atmosphere is dark, red, and fancy. I was a little underdressed in shorts and a plain black tshirt. My date was not in a beautiful red dress. The servers know the hype and are very accommodating to the awe. Is it worth the hype? I don’t think anything ever is, but I look back on the evening with fondness and joy and what more could you ask for?
Fun ambiance, but the food journey was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. I went all in on the recommended dishes like the Roasted Garlic Babka and the Black Truffle Honey Whipped Ricotta, but they left me craving a bit more excitement. However, the flavors in the Tomato & Burrata (surprisingly) turned out to be the tastiest out of everything I ordered. The Short Rib Pappardelle, while good, did a little too much salt-sprinkling for my taste. On the plus side, the mocktails are pretty good — dont skip those! Overall, this is a lively spot with quick service, but the food experience didnt quite hit all the high notes I was hoping for.
We’ve been here 3 times now and each time has been amazing! From the incredible food, the service and the stunning decor, it’s a must visit! Bartender Jay is great too, can’t wait to return soon!
Ricky dont lose our number!! Popped in for a quick bite and a drink. Two hours later we were having great food and fun time with the Bad Roman Ricky at the bar. Calamari was off the hook and the truffle honey snack..bam.
Almost impossible to get a reservation but if youre able. Def try it. The decor was very sexy and sophisticated. Reminded a bit of hotel costes in Paris. Food to me, was just OK. I mean I love me a steak frites and it was tasty and good but I think there are other places where I think they make it better. Service was sweet but I also had to wait and keep asking over 5 times to get ketchup. To different waiters and they seemed to have forgotten but maybe because it was packed? I dont know. Def be back. When? Not sure. Maybe next summer. PS: grab you the lemon cheesecake, was really good! And the presentation even better. 🍋
Was disappointed the location was in a mall. Totally felt over dressed. Drinks were on point, but the lack of flexibility and diversity with the menu was weird. For instance, I ordered the lobster special but had to order another entree and none paired with a scampi. Odd for an Italian spot. And my lobster was cold! Fried calamari was chewy, and breading was falling off. Full review on IG @aposhreality
We experienced very bad and slow service recently when visiting Bad Roman, and no apology was given. Waited 45 minutes for appetizers. Food was also mediocre for the price and portion size, I would recommend going to many of the other amazing Italian restaurants in NYC over Bad Roman! Beautiful interior space though, so you could go for a drink at the bar if you wanted to check the place out.
Seafood pastas are ace.Special shoutout to the pear and arugula salad, undefeated on the salad battlefield.
Dont let the social media hype fool you: this place is actually good. The trendy steak with the raviolo on it is delicious. The pepperoni cups are great. Just let this happen. Service is also top notch. Let them recommend you a wine.
Had an awesome experience at Bad Roman last week. The bartender, Jay poured up some tasty drinks and made some excellent recommendations. Our server was amazing. We had the Roasted Garlic Babka and antipasta salad which was amazing. I had the short ribs pappardelle (heavenly), my wife had the chicken scarpariello (delicious). For dessert we shared the deconstructed cannot and we deconstructed the heck out of it. Four out of for stars. Big shout out to Jay at the bar!
I had a surprise birthday dinner here for my cousin and it was amazing! The food was delicious and service was outstanding. The staffed created a night to remember. I highly recommend!
The food from appetizer, pasta and dessert are gold in this place! Must get this lobster pasta that they have which is good for sharing. Also try out the filet mignon pasta which is the tiktok dish as the hype is real. Another tip: order this lemon cheesecake dessert early as it runs out. The only thing i dont like from this place is their drinks. They have watered down cocktails. Save yourself the money and just get wine
To be honest everything I wanted was out of/sold out!For my first visit I did not expect that especially on a Saturday night.Appetizers Filet mignon meatballs, lobster scampi & East coast oysters was good.Entrées whole roasted lobster with CalabrianPasta was okay, pasta was a small portion for 2 ppl.Short Rib Pappardelle, again small portion.Brussel sprouts was good.Wish I was able to to experience the full menu
So yes it’s a litttttle over the top but it’s an experience and so worth a visit for these dishes in particular — the garlic babka and the yellowtail crudo to start. The scallops and the *whole* lobster filled with vodka sauce pasta for mains. And absolutely get both the lemon cheesecake (wait for it!) and the tiramisu ~ice cream~ cake for dessert. Go with 3-4 people for dessert sharing purposes but make sure you get at least half a garlic babka for yourself!
Third time at bad roman. Gets better every time. I have my go to. Whipped ricotta with the truffle honey. Chef’s kiss. Rock Shrimp Chitarra for the win every time. The service is always amazing.
I attended Bad Roman for my birthday dinner and it was absolutely delightful. The service was fantastic and they really cared on giving their guest the best experience. Our host Cameron made us feel so welcomed and ensured that we got a one of kind experience. He was so personable and loved meeting him. We got a nice mix of apps (smoked yellow tail, whipped ricotta, oysters, and tuna tartar). Each appetizer was so fresh and had an abundance of flavor (the sensation that makes you want to happy food dance too). For entree I ordered the filet with cacio e pape on top and it was to die for! Highly recommend getting this dish. For dessert there’s no question- you gotta get the lemon cheesecake! They even put a little candle on it and sang happy birthday to me. Absolutely would will be coming back as much as I can!
Our server, Namik E, was amazing! He helped us pick delicious pasta dishes and was extremely friendly. The food and the ambiance were impeccable. Definitely coming back!
I found the restaurant on Instagram videos and it lived up to the hype! I was first impressed with the service. There is a huge team and everyone from hostess, busser, crumber, server, manager were on their game and very hospitable. Our server, Kyle, was a pro. He was helpful answering questions about the menu and executed the plan for appetizers, drinks, entrees and dessert - he made us feel special. The FOOD - it was really delicious. We had no complaints. The babka is a must. The pastas are excellent. The service and food were delivered in style and the room was as if we were transported to another place. 5 star modern experience
Was pushed in the direction of this place due to a less than stellar experience at another establishmentSo glad we took a chance on this placeFrom the Caesar salad, the pork shoulder and the thing that I’m still dreaming about - Lemon cheesecake , it was for me money well spentThe lemon cheesecake is no joke , the presentation, its taste are unmatched and a work of art.
Worth the hype! Would come back again. Took a look at the menu and saw a lot of mixed reviews day of... My friend and I decided on the Roasted Garlic Babka, Cappelletti Bistecca, Brussels Sprouts, and the famous Filetto Cacio e Pepe Raviolo. Everything was DELICIOUS and we were very happy with our choices. My cocktail for the evening was the Tequila Granita, it was really good. My friend had the Ciao, mama (I had a sip- liked it), the Martini Pepperoncini (I had a sip-did not like it at all) she ended with the Tequila Granita which we both agree was the best drink out of the 3. We did not have room for dessert unfortunately. Will save room for next time
Drinks were good, food was great, vibes and service even better! All the little pick-me’s slating this place are just jumping on the bandwagon. Nothing here is mind blowing but I would definitely come back again to try more of the menu. Solid 7.8/10.
Very nice place, the bathrooms are nice except the black toilet ( I find it very scary) lol. The food was not bad. We did have the garlic bahka and that was really good. The strawberry lemonade fritz was not that good. The food was a little cold, but we didn’t let anyone know as it was still eatable. The service was great. Adrian Mendez was amazing. He knew everything on the menu in Spanish and English. Very attentive and polite. He deserves a raise or a promotion because that was the best service I’ve had in awhile. Muy bien Adrián! Gracias
Awesome atmosphere and excellent attendance. Start with roasted garlic babka; as an entrée, we ordered filetto with cacio e pepe raviolo and a side of rosemary fries. The food was super tasty, and the prices are excellent.
We happened to snag a reservation last minute for a birthday dinner and we were so glad we did! The atmosphere is eclectic and cozy. We had amazing food and attentive, personable servers. They went above and beyond to make our night special.
Were deeply disappointed with our recent experience at Bad Roman. My sister, who is in a later stage of pregnancy, specifically ordered a non-alcoholic drink but was mistakenly served an alcoholic one. This is extremely concerning, as even accidental alcohol consumption can be harmful during pregnancy. When we raised the issue with the manager, she approached us with an attitude and stated they’d review the footage (which we also have on video), but then never returned to address the matter. Another staff member eventually provided the general manager’s information. Our waitress handling the situation with professionalism. However, the lack of accountability from management is alarming, especially given the potential health risks involved. I hope at @badroman addresses this serious issue to ensure it doesn’t happen to others.
Went to Bad Roman on a Sunday evening with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The interior of the space is beautiful, providing epic instagramable views. Our server, Dan was awesome. He knew the menu like the back of his hand and as a result was able to help us navigate options. I have to say, I absolutely loved the pepperoncini martini, so good!! For dinner, we got the meatballs, the honey truffle ricotta with bread, and the lobster pasta dish. All were great as well. The tiramisu and the lemon dessert were both really good too. Overall, very pleasant experience. Will definitely recommend!
Underwhelming experience at Bad Roman. While the atmosphere is stylish (albeit a bit dimly lit) and the cocktails are impressive, the rest falls short. Tables are cramped, and the food is hit-or-miss. Standouts like the gnocchi and whipped ricotta cant redeem the subpar dishes that followed. Service was sluggish. Considering the price point, Bad Roman fails to impress. Its an okay option, but nothing special or noteworthy.
We went to this amazing place on Monday night and we can’t wait to get back again!!! Food was delicious filet with raviolo on top is a must! Cappelletti pasta was amazing… lemon cheesecake 😍!!! Service was great as well, especially Lidia! She was very knowledgeable to suggested us the best dishes and wines! She took care of every single detail and made our dinner unforgettable! Thank you so much again!See you very soon
I’ve been following this restaurant for a year on social media and couldn’t wait for my first visit. The food is over hyped. The service was comparable to quick service dining at best, considering I paid $400 for 2 people without any alcohol.
As someone with the name Roman lol, a Huge thank you to Bad Roman for my joint birthday dinner with family. Delicious food, good service, beautiful decor and perfect location in Columbus Circle. If you’re in NYC and you want a nice dinner or date or just a drink at a bar, check out Bad Roman!
Good food, great location, but very slow service.
Got the tuna tartare and calamari, along with a couple drinks before catching a show on Broadway. The food looks unassuming, but the flavor is fantastic! Absolutely recommend
Wasn’t out of this world but everything was good, just felt really sickly heavy at times. We could’ve done without the fries in fact 😮 loved the rock shrimp pasta!
We have been here two times at dinner on a Saturday night and a Sunday brunch. The brunch was quiet since it seems they haven’t really disclosed being open for that yet. We probably made the wrong choices for food (burger and chicken paillard) which were both a bit underwhelming - and they don’t serve the lemon cheesecake for lunch - that was disappointing- so we wanted to come back.So we decided to come back for dinner. The service was friendly on both occasions and very good but both were super slow. For dinner, our mains took 1h10min! That’s way too much time.About the food - the best thing we got was the lemon cheesecake, light and crispy. Recommended. The ricotta with honey? Tasteless and the truffle honey I have at home is way better. The hyped “filet with a giant ravioli”? it was good and okay. It was cooked to the right temperature but came a bit cold and it lacked flavor of a filet. The ravioli is good but it barely makes it into the plate (maybe 2 pieces?) less pepper more salt please. One of the pastas we ordered was completely cold (kale one) like it was seating there for a while and had to send it back - way too much pepper on it, missed the other flavors. The short rib pasta was better.Overall, it felts like an overpriced experience - is it worth going once? Yes. Worth coming back? Unlikely. Perhaps
Exceptional food. Classy atmosphere. I’d recommend the black truffle cacio e pepe.Possibly the best part of the meal was a rich chocolate torte at the end. Perfect for special occasions and making memories.
Went to bad Roman and had a great dinner with a group of 8 and split a ton of dishes. I thought I took more pictures, that’s a good thing it means we were enjoying. Excellent service and the food was delicious :-)
Bartender was the best part of our visit here. The food was OK. Nothing really impressed me about anything we tried, it was kinda flat. Wasnt bad but the only thing I would go back for is the lemon cheesecake, it was fantastic.
The food is fun and delicious. We so happy and really enjoy the pasta and salmon dish. Great experience especially atmosphere was amazing and beautiful decoration.
The ambience, and the french fries were the best thing about this restaurant truly believe it to be overhyped and overpriced. The service is incredibly slow here I don’t understand how people love it so much there’s definitely way better restaurants in the city for Italian. This was by far the worst I think I’ve ever had.
Come here for my birthday.. Love this place! Robert is amazing server.
Shoutout to Jay for taking care of us, my friend and I had a great time 😊 we will be back for sure 😎
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and service of this venue given that we visited during one of the busiest times of the year. Food was delicious, service was fantastic and while the atmosphere was a lot given the holidays, it was still a very nice crowd.
This evening was my fifth or sixth visit to Bad Roman. I asked to speak the manager since I was not enjoying my meal. He really did not seem to care that I was eating a piece of lemon chicken with no sides. He had the perfect opportunity to take the chicken back to the kitchen and then serve my dinner with a side that was hot and delicious. He really did not care! And I had just recommended his restaurant earlier this evening. Never again!
Really great experience from the front doors (insanely large but deceptively easy to handle) to the bar where we had the special lobster 🦞 scampi and the scallops piccata, both perfectly cooked, not easy for four large scallops and a modest tail plus meat on top. A large Prosecco and a pint of a house cocktail with tequila sent us away quite pleased with our new neighbors.
Food was so tasty and presentation top notch. Our server was attentive, but they ran out of the Lemon Cheesecake after telling our server multiple times we were absolutely getting it. Otherwise would definitely recommend.
Stay away from this place if you care about good service or food, rudest experience with a waiter so far - only good for Instagram pictures, if that’s your thing.I went in with no expectations and left highly disappointed. Our waiter, a tall black male, was unprofessional and disrespectful. We (a party of two) ordered an appetizer, two mains, and a salad to share. After finishing the appetizer, the salad was served. We wanted to eat the salad with our pastas, so we waited. 45 minutes passed with the untouched salad in front of us. After 45 minutes, we asked the waiter about our mains. He rudely replied that he was waiting for us to eat the salad, insisting that the Caesar salad was an appetizer, even though it’s listed under salads on the menu. His response was not only rude but also hostile, accusing me of having an attitude “from the beginning” which was completely unwarranted. We were on a tight schedule due to 4th of July plans, making this delay even more frustrating. The waiter seemed completely indifferent to providing good service and acted in a way that made us uncomfortable. As for the food:The appetizer ricotta was okay but not special. The beef pasta I ordered had chunks of bone that I had to spit out…The lemon cheesecake was fun to look at and tasted nice but was too sweet and heavy for my personal taste.Overall, it was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Disappointing experience. The interior design is fun, as was the server, but the food came out flat. For a signature dish of theirs, the steak and ravioli, the filet was dry inside and overcooked on the outside, while the ravioli had a microwave texture. I tried some of the Cappelletti Bistecca, and the meat was flavorless inside. The side brussel sprouts screamed for some added texture. The babka bread appetizer was very good, as was the tiramisu cake for dessert, though the coffee flavor was a bit overpowering. All that said, though, for a ridiculously pricey $200 lunch, these criticisms cant be there. The menu lacked variety in my eyes too, with a lack of vegetarian options and an over-abundance of filets. Far better food can be had for far less.
Reservations only!! Beautiful atmosphere, inlove with the decor. Jose was beyond incredible. He was very knowledgeable, Knew everything about the menu, gave amazing recommendations (all were so good). He was so pleasant and so much fun. He made my experience worth the wait. The food was incredible. Everything’s was delicious. The cocktails put a smile on my face, very tasty. One of my new Favorites. Thank you
We had a fun Mothers Day brunch here today. Everyone enjoyed their meal...but my chicken Caesar salad was the best Ive ever had, anywhere! Started out with Black Truffle Honey Whipped Ricotta, which was yummy! Salad came with perfectly seasoned, spicy chicken on a kabob with crispy lettuce and homemade croutons minced well... just the right size for a hungry diner, very fresh! The sirloin meatballs and the short rib pappadelle got good reviews. Noisy atmosphere and iffy service. But Id go back!
**Review of Bad Roman in New York**I recently dined at Bad Roman, and it was a fantastic experience! The vibrant decor immediately drew me in, creating a cozy yet trendy atmosphere. Their cocktails are a highlight—my signature drink was refreshingly delicious and perfectly crafted. The pasta; it was creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Overall, Bad Roman is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a lively dining experience with amazing food and drinks. I can’t wait to return! Perfect for celebrations
We had a fantastic time at Bad Roman. The ambiance when you walk in makes for an excellent dining experience and sets the stage well for the food you will get. We started off with wine and the espresso mocktail which were both great. Next, we got the whipped ricotta dish which was superb. I highly recommend this dish. We then got the chicken rigatoni and short rib pappardelle which were phenomenal. Overall, the excellent food and atmosphere made Bad Roman one of my favorite dining experiences this year. I highly recommend coming here.
Discovered accidentally. Great food. Server, Adrian M, was fabulous Highly recommend
Had a fabulous time here. Exceptional service and beautiful surroundings. Loved the perrrochini martini 🤩 don’t listen to the negative reviews that this place is overhyped, I vehemently disagree and feel the food was truly outstanding and not just a gimmick. Don’t miss out on the garlicky Ceasar salad and the filet mignon.
Everything was fantastical! Fabulous innovative food and the best service staff: friendly, informative and generous with their knowledge and service. Thank you for an amazing experience last night!
We had Thanksgiving lunch here and it was epic! Had a lovely time. Oysters were great too! Glass of champagne was pretty punchy at $28.
Thank you, Jay for the awesome service. He really took care of us at the bar and tailored my experience and made sure that my drinks and food went well together.
Food was good, server called Tawfik from Tunis is a great guy! Atmosphere is nice but a bit too red, if you stay a bit there it feels a little dark & no fresh air. Lemon cheesecake is phenomenal. Meatballs are great but heavy and so is rigatoni. Pepperoni appetizer is too much. For two generous portions and a bottle of wine paid $300!
So I went in with very high expectations. The food looks incredible, some of it tastes incredible and the place is gorgeous. But we waited for 50 min past our 8:30 reservation to sit down. They comped an appetizer and bread. But it really didn’t get any better from there. To the point where we skipped desert simply because we wanted to get the heck out of there. The garlic babka was phenomenal. Same with the filet w/cacio e Pepe ravioli. The rest was good. Not great. The crowd felt like a steakhouse at a mall in New Jersey.
Great food! Went with my mom who’s vegetarian and there were plenty of options for her. We split 4 dishes: Eggplant Parm, Brussels Sprouts, Spinach and an Arugula + Pear Salad. The salad was the weakest dish but everything else was really tasty.
Yes to drinks, apps and dessert. Skip all the main dishes, especially the pasta. If you get a main, splurge on the filet with cacio e pepe ravioli. Definitely get the babka and whipped ricotta apps, and don’t skip the lemon cheesecake and ice cream tiramisu for dessert. I’ve also heard the fries are great, but we didn’t have them. Overall it’s overhyped and I’m not dying to go back.
I hoped the burger was good but not really. I tried this place a few times and saw the burger and wanted to try. Other foods were so good and awesome as usual, but the burger has to be improved.
Service is excellent. We enjoyed our meal , but the desserts are ,PHENOMENAL ! Spectacular veiw of Columbus Circle
Came here with a friend who wanted to come here for a long time now. It did not disappoint! The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. We were seated right away (we had a reservation; strongly recommend having one). Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Our water glasses we always filled. I got the don julio shaved ice habanero drink, it was very good! For appetizer we got the eggplant pull apart parm which was delicious. Keep in mind, I’m not a fan of eggplant. For entrees we got the chicken limon, lobster scampi with vodka pasta and short rib pappardelle. We all enjoyed our entrees. For dessert we got the lemon cheesecake and tiramisu ice cream cake. It was delicious!!! I would definitely come to this restaurant again.
Food is ok, just looks different. Service is terrible, like pretty much the worst and slowest service i’ve experience in the city and i live her… but baklava and whipped ricotta are worth it :)
Petros was AH-MAZING!!! He is such a light and his recommendations were fantastic. Thank you for a beautiful evening!
A great choice for our lunch.
Coming here has been on my list and so happy I finally made the time! The ambiance is amazing. For food we got the truffle ricotta, garlic babka which were delicious but we would have preferred the bread served warm! East coast oysters were excellent. For mains we got the steak with the ravioli which is now one of my favourite dishes ever. The short rib pasta was good too but the steak is a star, truly cannot praise that dish enough. For dessert had to get the lemon cheesecake because the presentation is so cool but will love to try the tiramisu next time. Will be coming back for sure!!
Amazing food and environment. Highly recommend. All food items we ordered were amazing and had to order Babka twice.
I went there for a private event. The food lived up to the hype and the flavor was great. For our event we had a set menu different from the menu shared on the restaurant but I particularly loved their appetizers and the Brazino the best. While the service at our event was good, there was a case where I was having trouble finding the exit door outside if our event and I asked one of the staff for directions and I got an extremely rude and obnoxious reply instead of directions. This incident for me overshadowed the food and every good about this place. The restaurant itself was good so I did not want to leave a bad review but I hope the management ensures that the staff has the same standards at the food quality.
We recently dined at Bad Roman in NYC and heres our detailed review of everything we ordered:Roasted Garlic Babka $8 🧄A hit! Reminded me of garlic butter monkey bread. Absolutely delicious and a must-try.East Coast Oysters $4/pc 🦪Good, liked the mignonette, but nothing special. If youre an oyster fan, these are worth a try but dont expect anything extraordinary.Filet Mignon Meatballs $18 👅We all loved these! Tender, flavorful, and smothered in a great red sauce, topped with just the right amount of Parmesan cheese. Definitely a highlight of the meal.Spicy Gem Caesar $19 (not pictured) 🥗Our server recommended this one. It was honestly delicious, but I don’t think I would order it again.Short Rib Pappardelle $34 🍝This was my main dish, and it was delicious. Was it the best pasta I’ve ever had? Absolutely not, but I enjoyed it. For the portion, quality, and price, I don’t need to order it again.Whole Roasted 2lb Lobster + Calabrian Pasta $95 🦞I thought this one was going to be a winner, but I was wrong. The lobster was okay, but definitely not the freshest. The pasta had a good spicy, creamy vodka-style sauce. For the price, I was expecting a better quality lobster with more meat.Roasted Branzino $42 🐟Nicely deboned and presented, the fish was fresh, and the salsa verde under it was good. There was just nothing special about the dish.Filetto $47 + Cacio e Pepe Raviolo $6 🥩The filet mignon was good, but the raviolo was probably my favorite part. Again, nothing mind-blowing.Rosemary-Sage Fries $14 🍟I just love fries 🤣 These were no exception!Desserts:Caramelized Chocolate Tart + Olive Oil Gelato $14Napoletana $18Lemon Cheesecake $19Overall, Bad Roman has some hits and misses. The Roasted Garlic Babka and Filet Mignon Meatballs were standouts, but other dishes did not live up to their price tag. NYC offers many fantastic dining options with better value for money. We recommend trying the Babka and Meatballs if you decide to visit.Final Verdict:The food was good, but for the price, we expected more. If you’re in the area and curious, go for the Roasted Garlic Babka and Filet Mignon Meatballs.
The vibes and aesthetics here were immaculate. The service and the food were top tier. Very knowledgeable staff. I loved how they were able to explain things on the menu when I had questions. The roasted garlic babka was soooo delicious. The roni cups & ranch were really good and crispy. Eggplant pull-a-parm was amazing. The short rib pappardelle was chefs kiss. Last but not least definitely try the strawberry sbagliato drink it was a 10/10.
Went to Bad Roman a few nights ago with some friends for the first time. I dont usually write reviews, but it was a very positive evening from the moment we walked in to the door and to the moment we left. I would definitely come back!I felt I made the right choice and showed my friends a good time. I was pleasantly surprised and want to shout out the maitred Cameron who kept us laughing at the door til we got to our table. The waiters here were very pleasant as well, and overall the service and pleasant exchanges with the staff were the highlight of the evening. Would come back for the steak as well!
Man is this place fun! Definitely get a reservation, as it can get quite crowded. I don’t even know how to describe the food. I mean, it’s kind of a fusion twist of Italian, but there’s a little bit of everything in there. But definitely the vibe carries this place. The food is delicious. Servers are very polite and extremely quick. And it’s always fun to people watch. Cocktails are fun and whimsical. Definitely recommend.
Place is beautiful. Great for drinks and dessert. A bit of a wait and requires reservations weeks in advance. Food was ok and takes a while to come out.
Delicious food with even better views. The lemon cheesecake was money and the frozen tiramisu ice cream cake was pretty good too once you got past the Kahlúa. I got the steak with the ravioli on top and I would highly recommend. If you want a drink the Amalfi Coast was tasty, it comes out “very fancy” so if you’re not into that sort of thing don’t order it haha
An absolute maximalist institution. Food. Drinks. Decor. I just had so much fun from the moment I stepped foot in this restaurant. Everything I tasted hit the mark, so did everything I drank. I really cannot wait to come back; I haven’t enjoyed eating out this much since pre-Covid.
What is in a name? Everything you need to know about this restaurant. One of the worst experience ever. Not a bad atmosphare for a crowded NY restaurant. Our server could not explain any of the dishes and so he could not make any decent recommendations. The pasta dish was so bad that I had to send it back. Any Italian would choke. It looked more like a soup. Bad, bad Roman.....
Everything was tremendous. Make sure to get the filet mignon meatballs! Short rib was also delicious.
Very happily surprised with Bad Roman. Very large venue, extremely good food, very accommodating service. And a very lively crowd. First time I could ever say that Ive had a better meatball than my moms
Ordered short rib pasta and some egg sauce thing. Anyways, we waited 2 hours for food, they gave us a couple appetizers on the house. Thank God the food was good because the service wasnt. They werent even at full capacity. Usually we dont deduct stars for service but we did waste our entire afternoon at the restaurant so thats my threshold.
I was so excited to finally go to Bad Roman. I went as a party of 5 on Sunday for Brunch. The food was incredible. I highly recommend the Black Truffle Honey Whipped Ricotta, garlic babka, and Short Rib Pappardelle. The service was outstanding, and we were even seated before our reservation. The atmosphere was so fun and we loved the decorations. We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary, and we got an extra piece of cake for the other couple at the table! Thank you Bad Roman - Ill be back!
I went for my birthday and it was perfect! Everything we got was great quality, flavorful and unique! The atmosphere is moody, groovy, and fun yet classy. Plus the servers and hostesses were all so personable and flexible with my reservation. As a tourist, this place is worth the hype.
Excellent Italian cuisine, with extensive wine selection. Professional and attentive service, in a stylish, energetic setting.
Came here for a girls night out birthday dinner, food was incredible. Still dreaming about the pepperoncini martini and charred broccoli rabe
I love everything about Bad Roman I have been many times and always have a great meal and the staff has always been amazing Last night I went for a friends birthday and not only was the food delicious, but our waiter,Felix, was the absolute best We all loved him and hopefully I can request to have him again in the future He helped to make our celebration even more special and fun Thanks so much
Service was super sweet and accommodating. We sat at a bar table, the way they are set up is really for 2-3 people max which is nice because it didn’t feel overly crowded. Maybe we just ordered wrong, but the 2 piattini we ordered were decent (meatballs and eggplant), but VERY salty. The garlic babka was delicious however and so what the famous lemon cheese cake, so I guess it’s hit or miss. I’ll be back for the cheesecake at least!
A super super cute and decorated place for you to enjoy your salt that youll be served. Salt, salt and salt. So salty --- we tried multiple and ordered more dishes because of the salt was so bad on the first few, and they were all like that. I dont know how people are ingesting it. I heard that the steak was OK from other people, we tried their pasta and it was so heavily salted. The manager let us know that that is what happens when the food has a lot of flavor. Drinks and apps were good - would recommend for vibes and drinks.
Great menu. Heavy sauce and rich flavor. Loved filet with cacio pepe raviolo and the Lemon cheesecake dessert. Solid cocktail options.
We had such a great experience at Bad Roman. Our waiter, Adrian, was amazing! He has great energy and went above and beyond. We were very grateful to have Adrian as our waiter. We will definitely be coming back and requesting Adrian as our waiter!
A highlight of our New York trip, lovely and romantic and most importantly delicious!
Had a great lunch here. Food is fantastic and so was the service. Adrian provided one of the best dining experiences ever. He was very helpful with the menu and options for cocktails and wine. He mentioned how Maxwell was working the bar and how great of a bartender he is. Since it was our last day, we decided to go to the bar after our meal, curious about this well known bartender. I am so glad we did, because it was so much fun. Everything was GREAT! Food. Staff. Drinks. Loved it.
Food and atmosphere were great! Service was phenomenal as waiter and chef were both knowledgeable about the dishes. Ordered the Cappelletti Bistecca and it was delicious and surprisingly filling. For dessert, ordered the chocolate tart which was good and definitely for those that love chocolate. My wife ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle and Hazelnut Cannoli and she enjoyed both. Definitely will be returning and recommend for anything special occasion.
Bad Roman is a great choice if you’re looking for good food, and a fun, lively atmosphere. It’s quite loud, so if you’re wanting a quiet dinner, go elsewhere. Our food was very good, as was our dessert! The service was good as well.Definitely would recommend! But don’t get lost trying to find it—it’s in the mall!
Our waiter was great and the food was fine but the seating layout absolutely ruined the experience for us. The tables are packed together incredibly close, even for New York City standards. We were sat right next to the kitchen door where employees come in and out every 30 seconds. It was distracting having a meal with people constantly whizzing by. On top of that, the table behind ours was so close to ours anyone walking past had to squeeze by to get through and constantly bumped into me. I was bumped into so many times my shoulder is sore. We skipped out of dessert, which I was really looking forward to, because I couldn’t take sitting there any longer. It was a bummer!
A most when your in THE CITY!
My family and I were seriously impressed by this place. Sometimes when restaurants are overly hyped up like this one has been, it’s hard for them to live up to it. Bad Roman exceeded our expectations. First of all, the food was incredible. Every single dish we ordered we absolutely loved. The cocktails were delicious and the pepperoncini martini is a must. The service was impeccable. Our server perfectly paced everything and made sure to check in throughout the evening. Our water glasses were never empty, and our table was cleaned and silverware replaced between each course. Little details like that go a long way. Everyone we came in contact with, from the hostesses to the bussers were warm and welcoming. The ambiance really ties it all together. It’s a beautiful space and we loved that none of the tables were too close together. That can be an issue in this city so it was nice to not feel like we were on top of other people. We will definitely be returning to Bad Roman and if you haven’t yet, give it a try!
Very underwhelming. Clearly a trendy spot but doesn’t live up to the hype. Nothing about the menu was really “Roman” and the food was meh and overpriced. Pork Shoulder was undercooked twice despite being sent back and bleeding. The artichoke started was inedible. Wasn’t even prepared in traditional Roman way. Service was slow to non existent. We were considering desert but it took 15 minutes to get the waiter again.
Just had a fabulous meal at Bad Roman. We were there for a 60th birthday party, group of 12, family style menu, everything was fantastic! Highlights were the Caesar salad, which is never good at most restaurants, the calamari which was so fresh, every entrée we had - the branzino, the papardelle with short rib, the fillet with cacio e pepe ravioli which then became the sauce for the steak, mind blowing. Then the desserts came, the absolutely gorgeous looking lemon cheesecake that looked like fresh lemons, the cannoli dip, the tiramisu ice cream. One after the other was fantastic. Great drinks, great wine, great service. Overall hit it out of the park!
Amazing italian restaurant !
I know this place is polarizing but we loved it! Great service. My favs were the hamachi, garlic babka, and lemon cheesecake!
No call back, after receiving food poisoning.______Bad Roman - is Truly Bad.My friend and I chose the pasta, and we had to send it back. The pasta lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. It tasted like canned chicken, and Chef Boyardee. My wife chose the wings, and they were better, so my friend and I asked them to swap our pastas out for that.FYI the only good part of our meal was the Babka. That was great.I’ve never had a restaurant do this, but they proceeded to ask why exactly I wanted to return the food, asking several times. I had already mentioned I did not really like it but they insisted on a specific reason. I then explained and their feedback was “Thank you. Now we can advise the Chef to make improvements.”Is this a trial run? Why am I having to provide formal feedback for the chef? This was our first and last meal all together, and that night the whole party got sick. I called to inform the restaurant, but aside from a manager calling me back to ask more questions, nothing changed. We should have never came after seeing the influx of bad reviews. We should have never stayed after we asked the hostess what she would recommended and she said “I wouldn’t really recommend anything on the dinner menu”Above all - no resolution for the very poor quality of food, or for making our party sick.
I really enjoyed that place, and also their food 🥰
We went last night for a birthday dinner and everything was so great. They were a bit behind for reservations but things like that happen. The service was soooo phenomenal and the manger on duty last night was so sweet and helpful, I wish I got her name. The food was also amazing
I love everything about this place. Come for the camp and stay for the incredible food and drinks. Also the service. Twice I have been lucky enough to have Shawna as my server. She is a delight. She knows the menu and makes exceptional recommendations. The lemon cheesecake is a delicious illusion and the rock shrimp pasta is incredible. The cocktails are a kitschy treat.
We had an incredible experience! Right from the service at the bar from Ricky to the delicious food for all courses and the amazing hospitality from Arisara, our server. My parents are visiting New York and this was their last dinner before leaving and I could not have asked for a better dinner experience. Thank you Ricky, Ari, and the rest of the chefs, staff!
Pretty nice restaurant with a very unusual design. Many families & tourists so wouldn’t say the coolest vibes. Food is so so, not bad but definitely not amazing.
Great for a group and do the appetizers family style - highlights for us include the spicy Caesar and the honey ricotta. We had 1 GF person and they were able to leave breadcrumbs to the side and provide butter lettuce instead of bread for the ricotta. The chopped/ anti pasta salad was also a winner. The Clams Assasina (sp) was on the specials menu but I think it is fairly regular - it is made with chopped up pasta instead of bread and they set the chili oil alight at the table - very impressive!Mains (for us a mix of pasta/ meat / fish) were all good/ Be aware that the steak comes unadorned and probably could have used a sauce - so order 1 of the toppers as well as any sides. The sides are steak house portion so each one can easily stretch to 5 to 6 people.I am usually not a sweets person - but deserts are where they hit it out of the park. Do not leave without trying the Lemon Cheesecake! The Sorbet was perfection and the chocolate cake top 5 - but the presentation and taste of the cheesecake takes it to another level. We loved our whole team - they were able to anticipate our and be available but we never felt rushed. We spent about $175pp incl tax and tip for a moderately drinking crowd (1.5 rounds cocktails and 1 bottle of wine). If you are big drinkers plan accordingly.
Pleasantly surprised. Food portions were pretty big and our server was generous with the wine pours. Very large space so would be good for groups.
Had a great time for my birthday definitely good food, good service and atmosphere.
Honestly the food isnt bad, but the service is absolute trash. the manager is passive aggressive when we asked them to clean to dirty table (after having reserved two weeks in advance) he said it wasnt that dirty but they’ll clean it “again” upon our request (a party of five) anyway one of the staff brought this big broom stick and literally brushed against all of our shoes which we thought was weird like thats unnecessary to exaggerate like that, however its evident that the managements attitude extended to the servers who have attitude for no reason. it felt like we were invading the restaurant the vibe is off, when the food finally arrived around 56 minutes later, half the entrees were cold and the waitress completely ditched us at this point. and we’re asking them for assistance and theyre ignoring our table; we’re literally begging for service. when we finally got assistance from a second server, we asked for the food to be packed and like half the broccoli was on the table and we asked the server not to pack that part so he took the broccoli with his bare hands and broke in half and put in the box and took the box away ??? then someone else came back with a bag with our food in it and threw it on the table, we were really surprised because what the heck did we do? we came to have a nice meal celebrating something special and the experience was just awful, the manager gave us attitude after we expressed our disappointment and we’re just shocked because thats not a normal experience at all. so naturally we left without tipping (mind you we had to wait another 20 mins after speaking to the manager for yet ANOTHER server to charge us out) and the third server was pissed that we werent tipping? Im surprised that they expected a tip. at this point we left in peace, its obviously not the place or atmosphere for our group. I would never come back nor recommend this place. the manager did take care part of the bill but our experience overshadowed that. ALSO its located inside a mall so its not a high end spot, it looks cuter in the pics and its not worth the price for a restaurant in a mall.
The steak with the pasta topping was phenomenal. Raw bar, tartare and ceviche great as well. Service was professional.
Food is tasty, but the service and atmosphere make it really spectacular. If you are able to snag a reservation, ask to sit in Kyle’s section. The rock shrimp pasta and calamari were my favorite on the menu. Cocktails are pretty spectacular.
The atmosphere is great (hence not 1 star). Initially, I thought they did a good job even though it was already a bit overpriced. However, the food has been worse and worse each time I go there. Overall, mediocre and over priced. Last time I went calamari served as an appetizer were clearly premade and heated in the microwave, the dessert cake was burned and even The tuna tartare also felt it had been sitting for a while. will never go again.
Was surprised how good the food was! Definitely recommend the place and will visit it again.
We arrived a bit early for our reservation. The dinning room was empty. We were told to wait to be seated. 20 minutes later, we were finally seated into the empty dinning room. People were nice but the lack of organization was unreal. Since it is in a mall, I was hoping we’d avoid some of the issues that you find at the nicer places in New York. No such luck. Food was below mid, service was a one star at best and the atmosphere was that of a mall restaurant . Unless you are literally starving, do not come here.
Went here for brunch. The tricolore baked eggs were delicious, but the bread was burnt on mine and my companion’s plates. Waiter had not heard of a flat white - I get that it’s an Italian place but really? Coffee was cold. Also it’s in a mall.
Food just seemed a tad bit lacking. Our server was great very attentive and thorough as well as very knowledgeable of the menu. And the atmosphere is beautifully moody yet lively at the same time. Overall great place to take my Fiance on her birthday.
Oh delicious pasta and steak
Everything was good I ordered the filetto + Cacio e Pepe Raviolo although I do not believe what I was served was filet mignon due to the size and texture it gave more of a ribeye but still very good also got the bakka & spicy ceaser salad and nothing disappointed I recommend trying this spot as the food was actually delicious 10/10
I ordered the Penne Luongo, a $45 truffle cacio e Pepe dish. I was very disappointed in not only the presentation of the dish (only a few long, thick noodles) but also the taste. It was very oily and didn’t have much flavor. Not sure there was any cheese? I did not finish the dish and even with the truffle, certainly didn’t think it was worth the cost. We ordered the Roasted Garlic Babka for the table, which was slightly burnt but otherwise good. My husband ordered the salmon and said it was “fine”. Nice atmosphere for being inside a mall and great service. Overall, would not recommend, as there are much better Italian options in NYC.
This spot is unbelievable. Not only does the food exceed expectations the service is incredible. Manager Abby made sure my special occasion was celebrated and she went above and beyond in her role making my dining experience one for the books. The ambiance, food, service all go above a 10/10. So happy I got to experience Bad Roman after months of trying to get a res 😎
Bad Roman is the most overhyped restaurant in NYC.The female server that we had was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming and lacked flavor. Ive visited this place twice.Meh:1. Black Truffle Honey Whipped Ricotta - The ricotta is tasty, but the toasted focaccia consistently arrives dry and stale. The black truffle taste in the honey is barely noticeable, because the flavors between honey and truffle contrast each other.2. Filet Mignon Meatballs - Tasty but often served lukewarm.3. Roasted Garlic Babka4. Arugula & Pears5. Blood Orange Sorbetto & Whipped ZabaglioneCompletely Bland:1. Short Rib Pappardelle2. Chicken Scarpariello Rigatoni - way too salty.3. Rock Shrimp Chitarra4. Scallops Piccata5. Filet Mignon with Spicy Crab Cannelloni6. Tiramisu Ice Cream Cake7. Lemon CheesecakeAdditionally, the restaurants choice of punk music seemed out of place. Playing R&B or hip hop might better suit the ambiance.
I celebrated my birthday here yesterday and the servers were very kind and accommodating. We had 2 guests that arrived 45 minutes late and the waiters were patient despite this inconveniencing them. They also did not rush us which I appreciated. The food came out fairly quickly (Not sure why some reviews state that service is slow) and the the food was delicious! I was worried the food was going to be overhyped and stunt food but everything genuinely tasted amazing. I had the steak with the cacio pepe on top and it was cooked to perfection. My friends had some of the pasta dishes including the gnocchi and said it was very good. Th drinks were also creative and very strong which I loved. Im leaving 4 stars because the prices for the wine bottles were not on the menu despite the price per glass being on there and the bottle was not that expensive ($65). I also thought some of the dishes like the pepperoni and ranch were a bit lazy. They also did not provide serving utensils when we ordered sharable salads. Overall, good experience.
It was my sons graduation dinner, as we were party of 11 people we booked the table 4,5 days earlier, but unfortunately the table we had requested was given to other party. It was quite disappointing as we were looking forward to a table with a view. But the management of the restaurant took care of us so well that I must applaud them 👏.Coming to food appetizers were good, especially Eggplant Parmesan, Chili Ceasars Salad ,Ricotta with honey, and Brussel Sprouts. For the main, everyone ordered individually, I chose Filleto Ravioli, their signature dish ,it was a bit disappointing as it was way too salty ,my wife ordered Rock Shrimp Pasta, that was quite delicious .In desserts, we ordered Lemon cheese cake, their signature dessert ,excellent very delicious, Tiramisu ice cream cake was good, and sticky Toffee Panettone not so goodOverall experience was great 👍
