Ive only visited Bounce on Tuesdays for bar trivia. The atmosphere is trendy/casual. Most people are wearing at least khakis and a button down, if not a jacket. I was sort of surprised because Bounce is advertised as a sports bar, but I guess thats where the term Sports Club comes into play. The food is actually pretty good, I had a wrap and we also had an appetizer of mac and cheese bites (OH MAN WERE THOSE GOOD). The drinks are expensive, but Ive come to expect that at any place in NYC that has a chic look to it. The music is almost uncomfortably loud for a Tuesday night (especially when youre trying to play trivia).Trivia on Tuesday starts at 8 and is very different from what Im used to. There are three rounds each with 3 categories and a bonus round where you can work together with other players in the bar who have the same color paper as you (either blue or yellow).
If I could have given this a negative review I would but it wont let me and I never actually made it in. I went with a bachelorette party for a Sunday Funday this past weekend. We are a group of young, dressed up buzzed women and were told that they could not accommodate our party. Because apparently bars hate large groups of pretty women? What the heck. The worst part was the doorman who made a point to make eye contact with us every time he let another large group in. I dont know who you have to know/be sleeping with to get in here but it was a totally surreal experience and made the bride to be and the rest of us feel like crap. Go somewhere that actually wants to take your money this place is not it. They then went on to have a blast at a bar called Sidebar so maybe that would be a good alternative.
If you prefer sports bars with a clubby lounge vibe Bounce might be right up your alley but for me its a gutterball. Its just too noisy for my taste.
Cheap beer. friendly staff
