After working 20 years ago at the original Blue Ribbon, this amazing group of restaurants gives me an app and dessert on the house. Not only does it speak volumes about Erick and Bruce but the whole Blue Ribbon family. I shared a wonderful meal with my family and hopefully a new tradition on New Year’s Eve to do a fancy meal.
Excellent sushi. The best I’ve had so far in NYC.The chefs prepare the food in front of customers in the dining area at the rear of the restaurant. The platters are consistently good. And there is a fabulous selection of Saké.Very friendly and helpful staff. We went for my daughter’s graduation celebration. They very kindly offered us a delicious desert. The server, named Air, was charming and welcoming.
Absolutely excellent! Everything was great from the service to the sushi salad.
This place is stunning, with high-quality food! I highly recommend it for date night or a family dinner.
I can say its the best lobster Ive ever eaten. They separated it so well that it was very easy to eat. Especially the butter sauce! AWESOME 🤤Sushi and some appetizers were pretty good too. Literally , it is a best with atmosphere and service so far.
The restaurant is located within a hotel, theres not a sign from the street advertising the restaurant but its definitely hereIncredible wagyu gyoza dumplings, the staff are wonderful, and the inside of the restaurant is cozy and atmospheric
Ordered the “whole” Kyushu Ahi and the Blue Ribbon Maki. You can see from the photo, there is nothing whole about it. It was literally fish jerky that had been so over cooked that they burned a whole through it. It was inedible. Served on a bed of cold bean thread noodles for a whopping $36!!! Unbelievable. Astonishing how bad it was. There is a pic posted of The Maki sashimi ($32) which was old and fishy tasting and smelling in a bad way. You know when it is old. It was awful. Inedible. We couldn’t eat it. We also ordered 3 sushi rolls which were mediocre at best but we ate them because we were hungry! For the price point, you kind hope for better quality. It seems there was no care in the preparation or in the ingredients of the dishes. Serving old fish? Seriously? Quality manager should be reprimanded. This was the Blue Ribbon on 58th st at The Columbus Hotel. Last note…everyone seemed slightly annoyed and rude in general… when we went to the host stand and asked to order take out, she said, with great attitude, ”Do you have a reservation?” Laughable. $68 of inedible fish. Lesson learned.
Came for lunch today and was very impressed. Being from England, we arent used to service this attentive. Best sushi we have had outside of Japan, and the chicken wings were glorious. Thank you 👍
Everything was delicious if I had to recommend one thing it is to get their chicken wings as an appetizer it is juicy, crunchy and the honey sauce that goes with it is delicious be warned if you are going to share with more than 2 people there are only 5 pieces. This place is a bit more expensive than other sushi places I have been to with cost high and portion sizes small. But it was very good.We also tried some of there sushi very fresh but I think for the cost it was very little.
One of our all time favorites sushi spots in the city! The sake selection is fantastic, edamame is firm and delicious! Their fish selection is top-tier and reasonably priced. OH, definitely get the wild mushroom fried rice to share it’s amazing and comes with a delicious red chili sauce for some heat
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in NYC after living here for three years. Great place to come with family, friends and even on solo dates. My favorite is the crispy rice, the sakana san shu / salmon avocado rolls, and - above all, surprisingly- their chocolate bruno for dessert. Big fan of their spicy margaritas too. Ive always been greeted with great service. Recommend making a reservation for the weekends and nightime during the week but you can probably walk in and be seated at the bar.
Blue Ribbon is located inside a hotel through an almost secret door. Warm wood interior throughout. Stand out dishes include Cauliflower popcorn, Wagyu Gyoza, Crispy Rice Tuna, Oxtail Fried Rice. The place is total slammed even on a mundane Thursday night.
I came here again. It was me and my other two friends. We had ceviche again (my favorite), big huge set of sushi (I guess the potion is for four but three of us can barely finish it), some cocktail drinks. We went around 7:30pm and it was a line. We waited about 20 minuets and then we got a table. Service was nice as usual:) I had such a great dinner with my friends.
Really good food with unique flare in a warm but dark and somewhat dreary spot. Tons of options that you wont find elsewhere in addition to the standard fare as well. Good portion sizes, priced accordingly and very friendly staff. Good is fresh and you wont go home hungry or broke!
Sushi is very good and so is the service. I enjoyed everything here.
Very good food,I always visit this place to have the fried chicken. I think is the best fried chicken in the US. Crispy tasty juicy and full of flavors. They also have very good suchi dishes, with an army of chefs ready to cater every order. But my fav here are the fried chicken and the ox tail rice dishThe restaurant is very well located next to columbus circle.Staff is ok.Very recommended
Brought my friend who is visiting from Hongkong here tonight, both of us enjoyed the food so much, sushi was phenomenal, loved yellowtail with Serrano in ponzu sauce,it was so buttery,Ribs were so delicious, and oxtail fried rice, everything was great, and staffs were attentive and friendly.
Blue Ribbon was fantastic! Inside a hotel lobby which wasn’t clear to me…fun adventure to find! The inside is very nice with a lot of seating, including small enclosed rooms, open tables and my favorites, the sushi bar way in the back. This place is FAST! And GOOD! I found the fish to be fresh and plentiful. Otoro and Uni were my favs, but the 7 color roll won my vote for best variety!Definitely gets my Go There vote!#gotheretastethat #blueribbonsushi #sushi
Blue Ribbon for lunch : what an absolute gem! I was wandering through Central Park when I came across this spot, and I’m so glad I did. They welcome walk-ins, so I strolled right in and took a cozy spot at the bar. I had my carry-on with me, and the hostess immediately offered to stow it for me, giving me a tag to claim it later. Such a thoughtful touch! And the bartender didn’t miss a beat, reminding me about my tag with such attentiveness when I was wrapping up. Little details like that make you feel truly cared for. Now, let’s talk food! I tried the oxtail fried rice, shrimp tempura, and kanpachi; and let me tell you, every single bite was a revelation! Each dish had its own distinct, mouth-watering flavors that just made me want to keep ordering more. Lolll I paired it all with a cocktail that was a little bit too strong for me but the bartender generously offered to make me something else, so I ended up having a lychee which was just perfect! This place is a true find, and I left with a happy heart and an even happier stomach. I’m already looking forward to experiencing Blue Ribbon for dinner on my next visit. Highly, highly recommend!
We had a fantastic meal. All dishes were delicious, they manage to make a simple green salad exquisite with a dressing that is fantastic. The nigiri melts in your mouth, the quality of the fish is incredible. The atmosphere is cool but welcoming and accommodating to families too. I would highly recommend this place.
Been here several times lately and the food has been invariably excellent. Also great service and atmosphere. The standard sushi deluxe is the way to go, but their new and improved menu also includes some excellent items like salmon teriyaki and oxtail fried rice. The wine choices are very good but sadly they’ve been out of the Yuzu nonalcoholic beer for a while. Service is pleasant and despite the lack of windows the main dining area is beautiful and well ventilated.
We came here for a late dinner after a show at Lincoln center. It’s nice to find good quality restaurants open late on a Monday. They ran out of the spicy Ox tail ramen so we went with their special of the day which was a soba noodle with duck broth. It was tasty (but I personally dislike buckwheat noodles). Octopus was very chewy and sinewy - must have harvested a grandfather octopus - shouldn’t the experienced sushi chef notice while slicing it?! Our waitstaff was very nice and attentive. The front hostess was bending down behind her stand and took a while to notice we were standing there. Also - she needed some more proper uniform for her job instead of a sweater. (See pictures)
Food was pretty good. Sushi was rolled a bit too loose that some fell out. But the fish was super fresh and delicious. Also recommend the deep fried chicken. Clam miso soup was on the saltier side.Service was friendly, but seemed a bit rush. Don’t blame them as it was a super packed night.
One of my favorite sushi places. Creative dishes + more classic sushi. Always fresh. Amazing desserts
We sat at a nice booth and loved the service and food. Everything was fresh. I loved mushroom salad, vegan vegetable sushi wrapped in cucumber (and topped with avocado). My server recommended amberjack appetizer and oyster tempura. I have never tried them before but glad I did! I wish I took more photos. Everything was beautifully plated. It was a perfect lunch (maybe slightly expensive for lunch? But I will skip dinner haha). It is inside of a hotel.
Hidden away from the main drag is a cozy, fabulous restaurant. Excellent service from start to finish. Fresh sashimi. Oxtail fried rice is a must try!
Super yummy, very quick service, food comes in 5 minutes or less, kind servers, VERY clean, 10/10 i would definitely come back in a heartbeat
Blue Ribbon is a fantastic sushi restaurant that I highly recommend. The quality of the sushi is outstanding, with fresh and delicious fish. The presentation is impressive, and the menu offers a great variety of rolls and from our kitchen meals. Overall, a must-visit for sushi lovers.
Is this place a joke sushi restaurant for the other one on the lower East side? I got the Maki combo and all 3 rolls fell apart before I grabbed them. I would have taken pictures earlier in the mean except my sugar was low and I had to eat. The best part of the meal was the ginger.UPDATE:I showed the pictures to the manager when I was leaving and he apologized immediately and made gracious accommodations in good faith- I will try them again. Until I try them again this review will stand.
It was good, not great. Went for a dinner date with the wife and ordered octopus appetizer (sunomono) which was good but again...not great compared to some of the other higher end Japanese restaurants. The sushi and sashimi platter was very fresh however for the price and size, it was ok. For main course we ordered some oxtail fried rice and was pleasantly surprised. The size was very large compared to the other items. Very tasty and fatty. Prolly the best thing we ate here. Price wise....it was pricey but not as pricey as I expected. Very affordable for midtown.
Decor, ambience, good food. Recommended dish, oxtail fried rice, sushi platters and rolls, and fried chicken. Menu slightly on the pricer side at “$$$”. Good selection of sakes and other liquor. Warning, no cell service in the seating area. Seating by sushi chef is a fun experience.
Omakase: $95Very good shari, fresh fish, delicious Uni and beautiful piece of work. The Chef is the funniest guy ever. Not sure about the price, maybe too expensive?Definetly worth trying
Really great service. The place was cozy and clean. One of the few restaurants I’ve been to that actually checks and complies whether you’re vaccinated or not to dine in. Sushi was awesome as well. Better than the average sushi places for sure.
I sat on their sushi bar last night and I saw sth that I can never put up with, especially in a sushi place. The sushi chefs directly touched paper receipts with their hands in the middle of making sushi and put receipts directly ON THE SUSHI. Waiters then took away the receipts and served the sushi to tables. ZERO tolerance. Even the cheapest sushi bar should not be doing that. And they did that like routine. Those sushi plates covered by receipts just sat in front of the customers sitting on the sushi bar. I dont know what those customers were thinking looking at this. The chefs just didnt care.
Food 3ish starsoverall experience 4 starsdined with family at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill. the interior has a modern Japanese feel. lots of warm dark woods in the dinning area. entrance is via a hotel lobby. the interior is very neat and well-maintained…yet i felt it would be more fancy / upscale. there is a small bar in the entrance area.to be quite frank, the food at BRSG is fine and sufficient. for the price, i felt it would be wow-inspiring (drinks + appetizers + a mix of rolls + tip will cost ~$200 per person). the normal rolls are okay/good. the specialty rolls are a bit more interesting and have varied flavors. like the shrimp tempura specialty rolls was probably my fave, but you could have that roll anywhere in NYC. i don’t know if ost-pandemic / supply chain / labor shortages are still affecting BRSG, but the overall vibe of the restaurant and eats just made me feel like there is something missing regarding both. as a not, if you eat in the booth area…the acoustics are terrible and this area gets pretty loud…would definitely not sit in this area if you are looking for an intimate dinner or a quiet one.the staff are friendly and accommodating. our server seemed new and not very seasoned. also the staff are kinda dressed casually—expected a way sharper modern look for a restaurant in the heart of Columbus Circle. i would have given this place 3ish stars for the food but I rounded up for the service and potentially they were having an off day
Just WOW! We didnt have many expectations but ended up being overly satisfied. Dont think the service anywhere else compares to what we received this evening at the blue ribbon, it was fantastic and so so focused on details. The chefs are Japanese and cook right in front of you at the counter. We were sat at the table in the main dining room, however, still experienced the best possible time!! Definitely recommend!!!
I went around 6pm so it was not busy at all, however they offered me to be seat at the bar.I accepted, and it was nice, the service was super fast, and the girls at the bar were really friendly and very attentive taking care of the people at the bar all the time (refilling the drinks, removing the plates, offering the water, etc)I ordered the maki special roll Kyuri Special and Sashimi of soy seasoned tuna. Spectacular! Fresh! Tasty! And Flavory!Ill definitely come back to try more options from the menu!!
I figured the food would be good but I was blown away by the buttery consistency and flavor of the sashimi. The Kale salad was absolutely delicious. The place was filled with a youngish trendy crowd not stodgy businessmen as another review indicated. I didnt think it was expensive you definitely get more than your moneys worth. Treat yourself to the best fish in Manhattan.
This is an incredible sushi location. Very convenient close to Central Park and time warner center with all its amazing shopping stores.. they even had the Zacapas top shelf rum I absolutely love which is so rare! The sushi and food itself was absolutely incredible! Their green tea crème brûlée was to die for!!
Everything was delicious and service was great. They also don’t charge for hot green tea which I really appreciate. The oxtail fried rice is delicious, the little bits of bone marrow added a lot of flavor. The sushi-sashimi combination was made up of:Sashimi - 3 pc tuna, 2 pc each of salmon, sawara / spanish mackerel, and amberjackNigiri - 1 pc each of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, fluke / hirame, shrimp, albacore
Superb little sushi place just inside the 6 Columbus Hotel, you might walk right past it (like I did) as the sign is so tiny. Superb service and amazing food - the popcorn shrimp is a must.
The restaurant felt very authentic and cozy. The food and service were amazing!
The sushi was not firm, the prices were high & the rolls where just Maki. This place had a wonderful environment so thats a plus. The staff was very poised & direct unfortunately he seemed irritated (five star - AKI was very kind and helpful)
Still one of my favorites, after decades. Supremely fresh fish served in a range of offerings: from perfect one-note nigiri to inventive-but never overwrought - rolls. All in a beautiful room of minimalist elegance.
If you can, try to get a seat in the rooftop. There is limited space, but nice views of the city and there’s also a small balcony to look out of. Fresh and great quality sushi. The Sashimi Deluxe is a great plate for trying several favorite pieces.
The Bar part is a lovely place for a nice drink just off central park which is what I was after having walked all the way up from the financial district :)
Probably the best sushi restaurant in NYC Ive ever been to. Exceptional quality of fish, great service and nice atmosphere. Definitely will come back
The crispy rice/spicy tuna is amazing as were the lamb chops. The Sashimi was fresh and very buttery, I definitely recommend. The sake listings are extensive which can be intimidating but the staff is knowledgeable and the menu is easy to navigate.
Definitely in my top 5 sushi places. Food was outstanding
This place is a hidden gem inside a hotel, but dont let that fool you. The vibe inside is cozy and elegant, and the sushi is out of this world. You can tell they use only the freshest and highest quality fish, as each bite melts in your mouth and bursts with flavor. The presentation is also stunning, with colorful and creative dishes that make you want to take a picture before you dig in.The menu is not your typical sushi place, as they offer some other cooked options that are equally delicious. I loved the crispy rice with ahi tuna, the popcorn shrimp, and the cauliflower tempura. If you want to splurge, the Blue Ribbon Roll with lobster and the spicy crab roll are phenomenal options. They are pricey, but worth every penny. The service is very fast and efficient, even when the place gets busy. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they make sure you have a great experience. I definitely recommend making a reservation, as this place is very popular and can get crowded. This is one of my favorite sushi places in NYC, and I cant wait to go back. If you are looking for a place to treat yourself or impress someone, this is it. You wont regret it.
This place is a gem hidden inside a hotel but it’s by no means your typical hotel eatery! The fish is super fresh, and is of superb quality to satisfy the most gourmet sushi and sashimi lovers. I live in the area and this is by far my favorite go-to Japanese cuisine spot, and I have tried at least a dozen nearby alternatives. The rolls (maki) list is not the most exhaustive and creative in my view, but the Dragon roll is delicious and melts in your mouth. However you get an awesome deal when ordering their sushi or sashimi platters. My favorite one is Sashimi deluxe - the presentation is as top notch as the flavor... highly recommended! The waiters are attentive and the chefs seem very professional. My only complaint is that they don’t take reservations online or through Opentable, but even on the busiest nights I never had to wait for more than 30 minutes for a table for two, and they do have a cozy bar to grab a drink or two to kill the time. It’s also worth noting that there’s no cell reception inside the restaurant which is actually great if you want to focus on your companion and not on your screen :) All in all, five stars for the food and atmosphere!
I love the food, and service here. Both are consistently good. The bathroom is the worst, but the hotel is probably responsible for that. This restaurant is wonderful 🍣
Yum. Note that a meal is not cheap. Higher prices than usual. But...Sushi was super delicious. Fried chicken was light and delicious.
Nothing special, would not recommend. Fish is regular, no toro, nothing outstanding. The tuna handroll uses regular tuna.Service is even worse, they took my credit card and were gone 7-10 min I had to go look for them. Who does that? Most places take your payment in front of you, or bring it right back. Miso soup tastes like water, zero flavor and barely any seaweed.
Our reviews had over 52 million in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love Blue Ribbon Sushi. We love the sushi here and be sure to try the fried chicken with honey dipping sauce. I realize that fried chicken is odd for a sushi place, but this is the best ever. She loves this joint because it has a lot of cooked foods and I LOVE their sushi. Very reasonably priced especially the chefs selections that come with 7 or 10 pieces of sushi plus a roll of tuna or California roll. We love their white sauce as well which is sesame mayo. Yummy. Fried rice with an soft boiled egg on top is great too but it is a LOT of fired rice. Same with the soup bowls. They are huge but really good. The salmon tartare is very good but it is almost purrered. Some do prefer chunks of salmon, but I like it either way. Check out all of our reviews and look at all the photos below. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 52 million views in the last 12 months and we thank you for that. So yummy! Very nice!
Me and my husband love sushi and have been to several great sushi restaurants in New York. We figured we would give this place a try since it was pretty close to the hotel we are staying it. The overall service was good, and the waiter we had was nice. Although the sushi did not taste fresh at all. The fish tasted old, and the crab was stale. The seaweed salad was flavorless, and the caviar tasted as if it has gone bad. Definitely overrated, and would not recommend coming here if you like sushi.
My mind is blown! We have loved the Bromberg Brothers Blue Ribbon for 15 years. And our meal tonight at their Sushi Bar and Grill was spectacular. They have figured it all out! The Dragon roll, Miso Cod, Grilled Avocado and to finish the Red Snapper with yuzu butter sauce .... wow zowie! The signage is not good so enter the Columbus Circle Hotel next to the bagel joint and door is on right. But great Japanese restaurant!
I have been coming here with my boyfriend for years! It is our go-to spot for high quality sushi! We also always order the miso lobster, it is always fresh and the butter sauce accompanied with it is a taste of heaven! The king salmon is my personal favorite. The service is great, atmosphere is cozy and perfect for date night! I also recommend making a reservation on the weekends.
Wow. Service was perfect. Sashimi high quality. Desert’s amazing. Will be regulars!
Go to for comfortable sushi. We prefer a table, but will sit at the sushi bar if no reservation. Sushi is good. Pretty standard fare with specials like sea urchin roe and oysters. Wish they had negimaki but always leave satisfied. Wakame is good, as is the kale salad. Tuna, eel, Hamachi, blue crab & uni are consistent. Not a pretentious place, so casual works. And you can get in and out pretty quickly.
I had the unagi don and my Boyfriend had the chicken teriyaki. It was plated beautifully. The few negatives I have are as follows: the constant interruptions in my dinner date. Every two seconds a different waiter would come and ask us if everything was alright. Our cups of green tea were never empty, which would be awesome if this was a bottomless brunch situation, but it was like every time I took a sip a waiter would refill my glass while stretching over my food at one point he practically had the kettle in my miso soup. Not very satisfying. The food was good though.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience as well as the food. We were on the roof deck, and the ambiance was great. We ordered several plate that were all delicious! Our favorites were the tuna crispy rice and the yellowtail. Tempura cauliflower, mochi, and miso soup were also exceptional. We would definitely recommend it! Our only issues were with the drinks. The green tea was pretty weak and the yuzu mocktail was a pretty interesting flavor. The family loved it. Overall, this is a great restaurant! I would recommend almost everything!
Amazing service and great food. A high quality ingredients, which you can taste immediately. Bit pricy but definitely a nice experience.
This was my first time at the restaurant, we didnt have reservations, so ended up at the bar. The bartenders are great and make great cocktails. The sushi is beyond awesome, fresh and a great selection. Amberjack and Toro are amazing. The best appetizer is their crispy fried rice which is basically sushi rice crisped and then topped with salmon/tuna and some sauce, its unexpectedly good!
Great food for a pretty reasonable price.Expensive but for people who really love sushi! We easily dropped a benjamin here but it was worth it because we had really fresh sushi! Definitely a must if you are staying on the upper west side.
Great traditional sushi place. Everything is perfect, the place, the food and the service.
It was miscommunication with the reservation but they accommodated us with our request. Top notch customer service and professionalism.Food was good and you will pay for quality and freshness. Please be advised to book ahead of time. Definitely recommend if you want some sushi.
The sushi at Blue Ribbon is exceptional. The fish is as fresh as possible, the chefs are world-class, and the service is excellent. This place is a must-do.
Sushi sashimi platter was great extremely fresh and tasty. Best Japanese restaurant I’ve been in the US. Mochi ice cream are also very delicious try caramel and green tea.
We had dinner there last night, my second time there and Im even more impressed. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is nice but most importantly, the service is spectacular...As I have dietary restrictions, I was totally impressed with the whole teams awareness and knowledge of the menu and the ingredients. We will totally go back to Blue Ribbon...
An uptown copy of the downtown old classic. Sushi is good and the rest of the Japanese fare acceptable. One of the better Japanese options in midtown. Atmosphere cooler than others in midtown unfortunately not the crowd however. Difficult as a result to match the downtown experience and offering.
Excellent Japanese restaurant with the freshest ingredients. The vibe was perfect for gathering or a date.
The roof top is fantastic. The menu is diverse and everything we tried was wonderful. We had a large group, ranging from sashimi snobs to total non sushi eaters. Everyone left happy. The servers are very, very knowledgeable. Amazing experience.
Very high 4 bar tender was amazing, food greatGet the fried chicken as good as advertisedWarm inviting, good stuff
This is a fantastic place for the sushi. They have other great items but some of the best quality fish around.
We love the rolls and oxtail fried rice here. The service is excellent, and the spacious, kid-friendly environment makes it a great choice for families.
Fresh fish and excellent service! Pretty solid place for sushi!
Top notch sushi. Japanese chefs. Nice sushi bar. Walked in at 10PM Friday and sat at bar no wait. Quick service. Good Sochu. Pricey but you can appreciate the quality.
Still the best sushi experience in NYC… excellent service and the Yuzu Marg is superb. Recommend the Crispy Rice & Arctic Char
The food was really good but not the spectacular I would expect at the price point. The Oxtail fried rice is the must-try. The cocktails are not amazing and the Roof Deck is probably not as good as downstairs. Those would be my only real criticisms.
Service and food are good . The one star is because they have people that steal at this hotel . I forgot my rings on the side of the sink while washing my hands . By the time I realized I didnt have them on I was out of the place . I called them and was told nothing was found . Went the next day to ask to check the camera for who went to the restroom after me . The front desk person told me someone from outside came twice inside and then he changed his explanation after I added that I had asked the employee over the phone to check for me . I was never allowed to watch the camera or given a description of the person . Never going back or recommending it to my friends. I used to recommend it pretty often to people. Not anymore .
It is always a good sign when you see Asian guests in an Asian restaurant. As I dont eat Sushi, Im always curious for the other dishes a,d they were all perfect. Oxtail miso soup, just great, The seafood, marvellous, fried rice, fantastic, and the Profiteroles with Matcha sauce, just to die for. Must see!
The most important element to a sushi restaurant is freshness. It was very disappointing that the rolls were not fresh, to the point that even the sauce could not mask. The chicken wings were dry but the sauce was refreshing.
Update from October 2023 …Food is still very good, especially the sushi. The other appetizers we had were quite a bit saltier than prior visits. We dined 8pm on a Friday evening and the restaurant noise level was quite loud averaging 83dB. It was very difficult to have a real conversation. You might keep that in mind if you want to talk to your dinner companions.Prices are as you’d expect. We spent $80pp (tax & tip included) without ordering alcohol or main dishes.End of 2023 update_____________________
Best Miso Ive ever had!! The Sushi is fantastic, try the Combo Platter. The Desert is to die for OMG!! Tje service is spot on. Highly recommend, 5 Stars all day!!! Oh and open until midnight.
Well presented dishes.Flavorful and good serves.Enjoyed.
Its our second time here. Its always packed during mealtime. The food is amazing, and so is the service. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well.
Great sushi, great service. Good quality and price equation. Will repeat when back in NYC
Very good sashimi and sushi, freshest Ive had in awhile
I LOVED this restaurant. Food was delicious, ambiance was lovely and staff was kind & courteous. And the N.Y. Strip Steak was cooked perfectly. Sometimes, restaurants overcook steak even when I ask for rare. But this place made it rare! Also, the miso soup was the best I’ve ever had. It was so fresh that you put in the fresh miso paste yourself, which is great if you wanted to control your sodium level. The Sushi and Sashimi were also excellent!
Nice location near Columbus circle. Excellent albeit expensive lunch. This place has an excellent menu of sushi and many cookedAsian eats. The oxtail friend rice and the fried chicken are the signature dishes. Great staff se well.
The food was delicious. My friend and I dined on the rooftop and I enjoyed the ambience. The service was also good. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here.
To me, it was quite disappointing. We dined at Blue Ribbon in Miami a couple of years ago and had an amazing experience there. Blue ribbon New York has similar fried chicken wings and they were cooked well. However the sushi/sashimi platter with $48 value didn’t impress me at all. Furthermore, there was an absence fatty tuna or eel or any higher end fish. The $15 shrimp tempura roll only had four pieces. It is definitely not a restaurant with great value, nor a great place with outstanding food.
Have been coming to BR Sushi for years (mostly the Village location). Its a solid spot open late, and is perfect for a late night bite. Ive always felt its quite overpriced for the quality of the sushi on offer. You could spend less at Yasuda for example, and have a much more memorable food experience. Not too many quality late night options left in the city unfortunately, so Im sure well keep coming back here.
Honestly I picked this restaurant so fast when I searched up best sushi near me not even thinking it’ll be that great. My boyfriend and I had the best date night. I recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a relaxed ambiance and great sushi ! Staff is amazing and observant. We enjoyed everything!! This place is a hidden gem!🙌🏾👌🏾
Lovely space for an intimate dinner. Higher end prices on par for the quality of sushi.
One of the best sushi I’ve eaten. Great vibe and service.
Theres only one word to describe this evening’s sushi “ pretty pretty good “.The water glass tho is a little worn out.The main dining room can be very loud and we were lucky to have a 4 seater table between the section of the bar and the main room.
This place was a disappointment. For the price I thought the food would be super good but it’s not worth it.The server was super kind and the place looks nice but the food wasn’t worth it in my opinion. The chicken had no flavor, the sauce was the one providing all the flavor but it also wasn’t the best. The sushi was… I had better. The atmosphere is nice and beautiful and staff is super kind
What a Manhattan restaurant is supposed to be like. Great staff ,amazing food, couples ,families, business lunchers and tourist in a modern minimalist dining room . No windows in the main room add to the ambience.I lunched with my mother today and it really could not have been better.
Oxtail fried rice, chicken wings. Definitely a must try. Overall, a really solid Japanese restaurant with fresh sushi and amazing dishes. Been here several times and I always get the oxtail fried rice 😍
Great diverse menu (for non-sushi lovers), excellent service. Great dining experience! The food is excellent, the drinks are great, and there is a huge selection. It took us a long time to narrow down what we wanted - everything looked so good! The service was awesome, super knowledgeable and helpful with any questions we had. Would absolutely go back!
Amazing place. Top notch food and service and a hidden gem of a rooftop bar.
The sushi was very good. Service was great. Ambience was cozy and very Japanese. What made me give it 4 stars is because of the price. Google maps deceived us with a $$ tag when it should have been $$$. Ate $50 per person
If you manage to find this restaurant, you might consider it a gem. Although finding it is not easy. There is no sign outside the hotel and it is nestled in the lobby with a tiny sign on the door, which if open is invisible. It seems they really do not desire to attract any foot traffic so I presume it’s for those in the know. Although it has no windows, it has quite a sleek and comfy (and fancy) interior, with high ceilings and some nooks where there is less noise and action. And perhaps that is why the prices are about 30% more than a typical mid-level sushi restaurant on the upper west side. Many of these restaurants have a sushi deluxe platter, which has a bunch of nigiri and a maki roll. For lunch, Blue ribbon charges $44, while what I consider to be the best sushi in the neighborhood, Yasaka, charges $29. Both are very good. I can only guess that the additional money you are at forking over at Blue Ribbon is for the atmosphere. Also, I give blue ribbon a lot of credit for having an expansive menu that has something for just about anyone. There is grilled fish, steak, and a vast sushi menu that includes vegan sushi. If you are looking for a place with an upscale vibe in Midtown, this could be a solid choice, even if you could get the same dishes and quality of food cheaper a bit further uptown.
Place was great, and service was carefully thought, bringing everything just on the right time.Had the spicy crab roll maki, which was amazing, and an IPA matcha beer which was unique. The sushi was carefully done, very fresh and as good as expected. The atmosphere could be better, since the entrance is inside the hotel, and has two different zones, bit it is quite beautiful.
Blue Ribbon Sushi is just so fresh and good. This location doesnt have that authentic feel like the village location, but its swanky enough to be fun.Get the omakase if you really want to be wowed by the fish.My only real gripe is the drinks are small and weak, even if they are tasty.
Exxellent sushi and rolls. Its definitely worth it.
Great food and acceptable service.Overall the service was good, but there were a few notable times we had to flag down a different server as ours had gone Miss.
The food was wonderful and the service was great; the prices are a bit steep, though. The rolls were only like 4 pieces and we ended up ordering double what we originally ordered because the portions were so small. It’s in the interior of a hotel which made it somewhat hard to find, and there were really no windows or anything so it was a bit dark… otherwise really great. Just a bit pricey.
Tucked in a hotel, this well appointed and stylist sushi den has high quality fish and an extensive menu of Japanese classics.
Sushi incredible. Get the fried Chicken. It is straight from heaven.
They have the nicest people working there - the absolute best. The atmosphere is always fun and vibrant. The food is good. I usually get the sashimi.
Perfect dark/cozy vibe for dinner! Was pretty picky with what we chose, and incredible choices that I’d go back for!A bit pricey, but a complete worthwhile spend.
Perfect for dining late!!Excellent place for fantastic sushi or a Fied wings!! With wasabi-Honey, great combination.Ill be back!!
Kiri was so sweet and kind. The sushi here is to good to explain. I really recommend you coming here.👍🏻🍣
My friend and I, we liked the sushi and seafood soup in this restaurant. The soup has enough seafood to make you happy and it’s a bit spicy. There’re no special decorations or amazing interior design here, but if you wanna get something tasty, you’ll get it here for sure! :) Though their soy sauce was too salty. And the waitress were laughing at us at the corner when we were eating sushi with forks. It wasn’t perfect of us but it wasn’t mature of them either.
Very noisy, bar type atmosphere but excellent food.
Best raw fish in town. Many options and all really fresh. Service is fast, but waitress could have given more options (it was my first time here). Price is what you can expect for a god Japanese restaurant, but nothing out of reach. Location is also really good, but restaurant is a bit hard to find.
Excellent service and food! First off this place is fantastic for sushi and sashimi. We arrived at 730 on a Saturday night and were given a 40 minute wait time. We were given the option to place our name and number on a paper so that we could roam around the area while we waited for a table for 4. We ordered a couple of Orion beers and about 20 minutes later we were at our table. We order shrimp dumplings as a starter and it was amazing. We were fairly hungry so we opted for the Blue Ribbon Special that serves 2-4 people. This platter offers a wide variety of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls. Each piece was expertly prepared and was some of the best Japanese food we have ever had. This place is worth the wait, the staff was kind and very attentive. Our bill for the platter, 2 beers, 2 sodas, and 1 bottle of still water was $232.00. the quality of fish and service was well worth this price.Thank you for such an excellent meal.
I absolutely love the Oxtail Fried rice, it has bone marrow, scallions, egg, and comes with hot sauce. It’s moist & flavorful. The hot sauce is tangy, a really good compliment to the dish. The Asahi beer is light and refreshing… really good choice to pair with dish. & I ate at the bar.
Some of the best sushi and Japanese food that NYC has to offer. Service is fantastic. Menu items are pricey but worth every penny. The shrimp tempura roll is delicious, my favorite in the city. (NOTE: make sure to order a side of spicy mayo). This location serves a special fried chicken entree with a honey dipping sauce. Have an open mind and dont expect it to be dipped in buttermilk and fried southern style. The teriyaki entrees are solid dinner or lunch choices. Do not forget to order a house salad, its tossed with ginger dressing and chunks of avocado.
I had a horrible experience here. The service was incredibly slow and the waiter got our order wrong multiple times. We also ordered the umasaki, and were incredibly underwhelmed and both the quality and quantity of food we received. For 125 dollars per person for 6 people, I felt absolutely scammed out of my money. Never attend this horrible location.
Overpriced decent quality sushi. Beautiful decor! Nothing is bad here, but youre paying for the ambiance and location. Theres better fish and/or value elsewhere in the neighborhood (e.g. Omakase by korami, Uogashi, Sushi Yasaka).
Had a wonderful time, and the serve was amazing! The food was incredible and we still wanted more after eating the whole platter!
Great quality sushi. Expect to pay NYC prices.
Great food, lively atmosphere and good service. It is not the best value (expensive for what it is but quality is quite good) but it’s good enough to keep me coming back at least once a month.Only complaint is the sushi bar. There should be two fewer seats as it is way way too tight of a squeeze when completely full and detracts from the dining experience.
My dinner group and I had such a great time at this place. It was a last-minute decision to go and we didn’t even look at the place before we went inside but it looks nice from the outside and once we got in it we saw that there was a large dining area but also cozy how is sitting with booths available. Which I thought was really interesting. The food was phenomenal and overall it was such a great find and a surprising one at that. I’m sure other people might’ve known about this place that we were so hungry after coming back from the Met and it was open late and that was the reason why we went in but it definitely made for a highlight of the evening. So great such a good cocktails and drinks as well. I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
Excellent spot near Columbus Circle for sushi. Great selection of nigiri and roles, fund ambience in the darkly paneled room, good drinks and fair service. In short - enjoyed by everyone - and true to the brand.
Delicious with particular menu with interesting specials and good service. Highly recommended!
This is one of the better sushi spots in the city. The staff is attentive and engaged. The food is delicious and arrives promptly. However there were some noticable kinks that need correcting. I was not familiar with the location and walked by it several times before realizing it was in a hotel. That should be mentioned in Google maps. There were also several waiters apparently in training that caused a bit of concussion when placing our order. It would be better to either have them introduced as such or stand back all together. This place is not cheap and service should be handled as such. It was also extremely loud to the point where I could not hear my dinner guest and had to request being moved. All things consideded I was pleased and will return on a day when its not as busy or as loud.
The sushi platter deluxe and sashimi platter deluxe were an excellent selection and the fish was FRESH!
Rainy Thursday? Now what? Sushi delivery (via Caviar), thats what! These dudes at Blue Ribbon have their stuff together - the order was in our capable deliverymans hands within 10 minutes.Wakame (seaweed w/ sesame dressing): excellent, fresh, perfect texture. A personal favorite. They also have a couple other types of seaweed available, including a sampler.Avocado Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, California Roll, Sushi Platter: beauty in a box. Well prepared and smartly boxed for delivery. Fresh, good color, smell, and cut, and most importantly great taste. Rolls are on the smaller side, but this is not exactly unexpected. Sushi platter was a mix of seven chefs choice fish - nothing too outlandish here, with usual suspects salmon, tuna, shrimp, etc leading the way.Sushi always surprises me with how filling it is, and after half of this order, tonight was no different. Will make it a point to visit in person sometime soon, as the space looks amazing.
Love this place !! Service is always great and food is always perfect
This is a good fund around the Central Park. A little on the expensive side (Id put it as at least $$$ rather than $$) but, what the hell... Central Park for crying out loud.We ordered a number of rolls we dont normally order. Some are somewhat exotic combo... On the side we ordered oxtail fried rice with bone marrow omelet. Fantastic stuff. The house unfiltered sake is also top notch.
Unlike most Japanese restaurants in NYC, the portions here are generous!! We were really surprised by that and Im glad we didnt over order. If, and I highly recommend you do, order the Oxtail Fried Rice, it is MORE than enough to share with another, maybe 3, as an entree. Dont think of this as your typical Chinese take-out side dish!! Also, the bone marrow is INSIDE the most exquisite pillow of an egg omelette! Amazing! According to another person, the fried rice is available as a half order. I would recommend this option if youre dining alone or truly just looking for a side dish or a taste.Modern Japanese decor and friendly, attentive service. Would highly recommend if youre in the area! Well be going back to try the famous fried chicken!
We ordered the Crispy Rice, the Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, the oxtail miso, a yellowtail/salmon roll, and the short rib dumplings. Every single dish was really tasty and well-presented. We also ordered the Pinot and the Cabernet Sauvignon. I typically prefer Cabernet Sauvignon, but in this case, the Pinot Noir was better. Every food item was delicious and I would recommend you order all four. Fyi, the fried chicken and the crispy rice (contains fish) are their staples so def get those. Great vibe for date night or a night out with friends. The joint is dimly lit and you have to enter thru the hotel.
5/2024: just the Blue Ribbon platter set us back $275, not disappointed. Need more lighting to enjoy more of the presentation and the fishes. The light went low after the platter came out. What-the-fish....5/2023: hard to find within google which is not reliable in NY, map to the building then find the address. Popular, were able to get table for 3 after 25mins wait. 🍣 and rolls are fresh tasty, set us back $150 with no drinks, would come back to try other items, took longer for rolls to come out, also great service.
Wow. Then the word pathetic comes to mind.1. Were staying at hotel and put our name down to reserve a table. They said might be an hour or so and will send text.2. We went to have drinks at bar and wait. Very crowded with a man and a women trying to seat people for restaurant. Man had zero personality and was creepy.3. After an hour, I check at desk for table. Clearly overwhelmed, its not ready yet. Okay fine. Another drink. Then 5 minutes later a text comes, table is ready.4. We check in with creepy, zero personality guy who tells me after we waited over an hour - How long were we going to be? He said he could give us a table right away but we can only eat in an hour and hed need the table back. This after waiting an hour for a table! Are you kidding me? How absolutely inconsiderate. We asked how long it would be for a table we could HAVE OUR MEAL AT PROPERLY and he said maybe 15 minutes so we decide to wait. Now? Our seats at the bar obviously have been taken. So we stand 20 minutes until table is ready.5. Upon entering he offers us 2 tables and saw others free. We sit down.6. Waiter came over quickly. We ordered and food came.7. Ribs were good and fell off bone. Tempora shrimp were good but not for $20.000 for what you got.8. We ordered a spicy crab roll and avocado roll. Spicy crab came with an asparagus roll. What the hell?9. Avocado roll was ordered, but beer that was ordered and milk -never came. We had to flag two servers down separately to get the beer and another for the milk.10. Avocado roll was fine. Nothing special. The fried chicken came. Under seasoned. At the very least for the price they should BRINE the chicken. Hot honey was fine. What a Boring dish but it least it came out right.11. My husbands sushi was good not great.12. We both looked at each other and said, what would you rate this place? We decided a C- possible D+.We have zero idea why its so crowded. Very unfriendly staff who have zero personality, front desk staff are just not running things properly and seating whoever walks up and has others wait, inside, no one spoke to us about the menu -just Have you decided what you want?, wrong sushi sent out, chicken was bland, drinks forgotten, staff had no pleasantries especially the sushi bar when I took our son to see how they make the sushi. Not one of them acknowledged us or smiled. Why people would come here is a mystery. There are soooo many delicious sushi places in the city then to wait and have an experience like this. And the food was sub par. Average at best. Would Never come back here and certainly would never recommend. Horrible experience for an average meal where no one cared. We deserve better. You deserve better. Go elsewhere.
Either ya love Uni or ya don’t. I personally love the creamy texture and oceanic flavor but I totally get if you don’t! Blue ribbon sushi serves one of the fresh sushi I’ve ever had. It has a small, beautiful atmosphere, and the service is amazing! Are you an Uni fan? 🍣 Insta: @thehungrysw
Good sushi. Nice ambiance. Solid semi Americanized sushi place. It’s not your super authentic sushi where you get only nigiri and sashimi via omakase. However generally quality is good given its type.
Probably the best sushi restaurant in NYC Ive ever been to. Exceptional quality of fish, great service and nice atmosphere. Definitely will come back
Great sushi option from the Blue Ribbon restaurant group. Ordered variety of dishes all solid and fresh. Service was excellent. Not sure if the menu here is different than the downtown outpost as I ordered strictly sushi/sashimi but this location is slightly larger and more accomadating for larger parties.
Now this is a different culinary experience, worth your time and money. Due to a mistake with our reservation, we were not listed and had no table reserved for us. Once the manager realised it was one of their staff members mistake, he went out of his way to accomodate us.Once seated, following a short wait for the next available table, he came over to appologise yet again, and from then on added additional plates beyond what we ordered from the menu. All were on the house including our drinks and deserts. It was refreshing to see the owner and the staff take responsibility, acknowledge their mistake and make every effort possible to make up for it.This service at its best. The food was extraordinary. The best of the best. No use in recommending any specific dish as they were all PERFECT. You cant go wrong there. All in all, the food, the approach and the service score 100.Thumbs up.
Such a nice hidden restaurant with cozy ambiance with dim lights. The place feels like a speakeasy. The sushi dishes are delicious and filling. Thanks to the friendly staff.
Got takeout sushi the California rolls were bland. The tuna tasted fake especially after eating at kissaki omakase the day before it had no flavor whatsoever. Nothing tastes fresh. Also extremely expensive. Honestly the worst sushi I’ve tasted in nyc thus far.
Well beyond expectations. The sushi and sashimi were all top notch. I’m very picky about uni and this was the best I’ve had since Japan. Will definitely be back again.
Very fresh sushi and awesome fried chicken in a hard to find space. Enter through the hotel. The service was good and it was easy to get seated for an early dinner. Once the room fills up, it gets pretty loud but festive.
I give the people here great credit. They deliver quality food under abnormal conditions with minimal staff. Appreciating the effort, we really enjoyed our dinner here. I would definitely recommend visiting here before it gets too cold.
If I could give negative stars I would. This place is so overpriced for the size of the sushi. They’re little tiny rolls for $20+. If you’re coming in from out of town, I’d suggest going somewhere that you will get you’re moneys worth. The price of the sushi is to pay for the over staged decor. Thank you have a good day.
Was in town on my own and staying nearby. Host was great and called me when my table was ready, and had a terrific meal including an uni flight to accompany a sake flight, plus Hamachi kama, and an ebi sushi complete with fried shrimp head for dessert. terrific service, great ambiance, this will become one of our go-to NYC places.
Amazing meal but sushi quality could be better.
Still my fave when in Manhattan! Sushi and sashimi are amazing, but absolute MUSTS are the NY strip with miso pepper glaze and the oxtail fried rice! Polish it off with Green Tea creme brulee and ginger bread pudding with Japanese Toast!!!
I’ve been here several times before COVID-19 & had a wonderful time. However, the website states that there are no dinner reservations for parties under 5 and that dinner is walk-in only. I came all the way here in August 2020 abiding by what I stated on the website for dinner walk-ins & the server told my husband and I that we needed a reservation to dine in. Please update your website to show the most recent booking information.
Who knew a Japanese restaurant would have one of the best fried chickens around? I was pleasantly surprised find this out on my last visit to Blue Ribbon - a decent sized and relatively authentic looking spot reachable through the lobby of the hotel its nestled in a stones throw from the Colombus Circle. On top of the fried chicken (which you should absolutely enjoy with a healthy helping of the wasabi honey dip) we got the chance to enjoy a couple of different dishes with the Salmon tartare and the grilled avocado shining the most.Ill definitely be back.
Crowds and a somewhat snooty host take away from what would otherwise be a great sushi joint. Its a step up from the local neighborhood bar, but not at the level of the abundant crop of omakase spots popping up around the city. Maybe a little pricey for what it is, but the fish is impeccably fresh and theres a bit of a scene at the bar.
You must have the marrow fried rice. The food was very good but the marrow fried rice is special. Its an interesting spot decor wise. Ambience is okay. Make reservations as it can get quite busy.
Located inside the 6 Columbus Hotel on 58th Street servicing Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Parking lot is nearby. Food is good. Clean facilities. Public Restrooms. On the expensive side so bring your credit cards. Staff is nice. We will definitely be going back.Thank you to the owner for responding. You have a great and unique business. We look forward to patronizing your establishment again soon.Eric San José
Amazing food, great service, a wonderful experience ! I recommend highly
Nice, warm atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and absolutely delicious and fresh sushi. Wed highly recommend the Sushi Delux platter. The various choices by the chef were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We also very much enjoyed the tartar as an appetizer, and the mochi ice cream to finish (we chose green tea and red bean). The sake was also wonderful. The only downside is that the restaurant has a 2 hour time limit per table so things feel a bit rushed and not as relaxed, but overall we would highly recommend for the food and friendly service.
Food was really good. Whatever we ordered was fresh and tasty. The portions were smaller than we were used to. Waiting staff were nice as well.
Warm, cozy and elegant bar. Bartender Keith W not only doing amazing job, he also create unique atmosphere here, you want to come again and again.Thank You! Great job.
Blue Ribbon is hidden inside a boutique hotel in UWS and I would never find it if not for my vendor, who treated us to a nice lunch. I am so glad I know its existence because it is great!I really love their Kale salad. It is one of the best I have had. We started with their Miso Black Cod fish as an appetizer and it is absolutely addictive and fresh. Their Bone marrow with Ox Tail Fried Rice is truly unique and flavorful. The lunch bento box is filling and delicious too. I got their sashimi for entree and it comes in 11 pieces and each piece is very fresh and tender.Too bad we were too full to try their desserts. I am sure it is as delicious as the main entree. Cant wait to return!
The Wakame salad and the oxtail fried rice are both amazing! The service at the bar can be a tiny bit inattentive. Overall a great place for late night food in the Columbus Circle area though!
Decently fresh rolls, pretty nice service, but by god the price and the atmosphere are not worth it. I dont understand why this has good reviews, avoid the rooftop at all costs!! And if you have just money to throw away, maybe youll find value in the prices but personally I found them wayyy too high. $6.50 per PIECE of salmon sashimi??
I absolutely do not recommend this place. When you enter they require the physical proof that you were vaccinated. if not you have it. then you cant enter. I am on vacation in New York and you can enter everywhere without problem and here you absolutely cannot enter. Whats wrong with these people...
Posting on the 58th street location not the original in SOHO on Sullivan. Came here because I was in midtown and surprisingly had one of the most memorable sushi experiences. The omakase came with a baby baracuda which they sashimi’d and put the rest around a skewer, best presentation ever!
Food, service and vibe were consistently great on two separate occasions. The main room gets loud. The back room was quiet.
So nice, every dish prepared with care and have a lot of flavour. The staff is also fantastic. The menu is extensive and have some regular NY dishes for people that prefers so. A must!
Food has gone downhill. Sushi rolls were not fresh and small. Rock shrimp tempura was soggy--even after sending back the first one.
Good food ideas are killed with salt and blue ribbon is a major assassin. duck entree was undercooked. main room is wood paneled, wood floor, wood ceiling and very warm and noisy. sushi was excellent, however, and there was a small freebie to make up for long wait between courses.not my kind of dining experience.
Blue Ribbon serves pretty much the best japanese food you will find anywhere. The entrance is through the hotel lobby so easy to miss it. Well worth the trip.
Good food and ambiance, this restaurant located at 6 Columbus Hotel
Very popular sushi/Japanese restaurant, hard to locate as almost no outdoor signage. Custom cocktails tended to be on the sweet side and the menu and service was fine, all a bit noisy, so conversation was a bit challenging.
Staff was excellent and very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu with great recommendations. Highly recommend the crispy rice with spicy tuna topping! Kayuri special and Ebi tempura rolls were great. Wonderful sushi and a great atmosphere. ごちそさまでした!
Simply put, pricey but stellar. Had the wakame (seaweed salad), oh-toro (one of the best pieces of sushi Ive ever had) and the unadon (grilled eel bowl) alongside a small bottle of the Hannya spicy plum wine, which is otherwise very hard to find in NYC!
What an amazing, hidden spot. We found it accidentally and loved it. The staff was great and the sushi was the freshest I have had in years. Truly authentic place. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.Can not recommend it enogh.
Delicious hidden gem hidden in Columbus circle. Quality/fresh fish, spectacular tasting sushi. A must if you’re on this side of the world.
The food was excellent we had the prime rib and is cooked perfectly. The only thing better was our server Ryan - outstanding service! They have a wonderful team.
Tried this place as an alternative to our normal sushi restaurant and we were very happy. We loved the saki and great environment, and the sushi was very fresh. Will definitely return when in the area.
The salmon nigiri was the best salmon I’ve ever had in my life. I had dreams about it last night.
Great food. Recommend the crispy rice and the Blue Ribbon fried chicken.
The place is a bit obscured and hidden.Nice decor & good service. Portions are small though. An order of nigiri is one piece. Toro was lower grade for the price of primum Toro.
Beautiful restaurant. Delicious food. Impeccable presentation. All-in-all a top notch establishment.
It’s kinda easy to miss the restaurant on the street as it is within a hotel. I love the interior and how the tables are not too crowded. Food was great, service was good. Will visit again!
Sushi was excellent. Great wine list as well. They were able to accommodate us without a reservation and really glad we were able to eat there. Very good selection of fish.
An amazing meal done with care and attention to detail. Specialty Aji from Japan was a available the night of our dinner. Highly recommend the lobster sashimi platter. Great location near Columbus circle. Will certainly return when in NYC.
Great selection of sushi, divided into east coast and west coast on the menu. Rooftop allows outdoor dining in an indoor environment.
Consistently great food and service at a very reasonable price, given the superb location.
Amazing food. Some of the best yellow tail sashimi we’ve had and nicest staff. Sensibly priced and very good food and service
Blue Ribbon Sushi is very good. I went there and sat at the counter and everything I had was excellent. They had 3 types of uni and I tried them all. Excellent solid place with high quality food and service.
Some people are hating on this place but I went for lunch and found it awesome. Just incredible fish, great service, wonderful ambiance and reasonable prices relative to quality. Ill return for sure.
Had food delivered and ordered the sushi platter with a spicy tuna roll. The nigiri was fresh but nothing spectacular. The crispy rice was good as were the dumplings. We ordered chopsticks and soy sauce but they did not give a little plastic cup to use for the soy. I had high hopes for this food given the reviews but was disappointed.
Good spot and sushi was very good. I thought for the price it was not as amazing as I would have hoped, but the service was excellent and the sushi chefs know what theyre doing
Great food and atmosphere but very expensive for what you get. At this price point you could eat at Nobu. Also I would not order specialty drinks. They are very small and have very little alcohol and at expensive.
This isnt a bad place to visit. But Ive given this place a few tries over the years and it wouldnt be my first choice around the area because 1) the food is overpriced although pretty decent, and 2) its pretty loud with no echo dampening materials in the decor.
Had the maki and my fav was karai kaibashira and we also had desert which was chocolate bruno with green tea ice-cream... it was reallyyy gooodddd... talk about foodgasm lol
