As Quebecers, we had the pleasure of dining at a French restaurant in New York and were delighted by the experience. The chef, originally from Brittany, prepared an exceptional meal that left us thoroughly impressed. We enjoyed superb zucchini pasta, delectable salmon rillettes, and mouthwatering black truffle au gratin ravioli. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. The owner, Johann, ensured that our dining experience was memorable. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable French dining experience.
My favorite spot for lower east. The vibe is very cute. Good cocktail list and food selection for small place. Stake tartare and Ravioli are top notch 🤘
All the dishes were packed with flavor! From appetizer (simple yet juicy olives, cheese) to main courses all were delicious. Definitely worth breaking my usual vegan diet for. They also have a few good vegan/vegetarian options for main courses. The ratatouille was especially flavorful. Also as someone who does not like alcohol, I certainly enjoy the couple of drinks Ive tried here in the two times Ive been. Service is always friendly, fast and also impressive (because the guy just memorized all the orders without writing it down!). Loved that the kitchen is integrated in the restaurant, making it feel cozy and more transparent.
Excuse My French is a cute, intimate Parisian bistro that offers highly innovative dishes with a carefully curated ambiance that we fell in love with. Each dish brought a confluence of flavors that together made something special. The Organic Balsamic Chicken, the Black Truffle Ravioli, and the Nouilles de Cougettes were all delicious in every sense. We didnt enjoy the Garlic Shrimp Skewer (a bit undercooked for our liking) but it was plated very elegantly. They were able to create an amazing mocktail using Yuzu and Raspberry puree that is one of the best weve had in Manhattan.I look forward to being back, but would highly recommend this for a fine dining experience or a romantic date night.
We came here on a Friday night around 8pm and the place was at about 60% capacity. They are known for their frog legs, am I recommend trying them. We also got the Brussels sprouts and salmon and loved both dishes! The salad we ordered was a bit heavy on the dressing though, so watch out for that. Overall the vibe, good and service were great. This is an awesome spot for a date!
Very crowded. Not a lot of room to move around. Staff will bump into you so make sure not to carry too much stuff with you. No place to hang up your coat. Definitely make a reservation. Very nice staff. Food is excellent. The cocktails are also very good.Oh and beware the crepe is huge! It’s enough to share.
This is one of my favorite little hidden gems in the East Village. I always work it into my evenings when I jump around the area. The reason I keep gonna back is the menu. Everything I’ve had so far I’ve loved. The things I want to spotlight though are the three items pictured. The Croque Monsieur is the best I’ve had since I visited Paris, by far. The frog legs, which I had never had before, are outrageous. The first time I smelled it being prepared was the time I ordered it, and I’ve never looked back. Lastly, their crepes are super delicious and rich with flavor and the perfect end cap for a meal. I love this place, and go back whenever I find myself in the area.
Beautiful restaurant, with delicious food with nice drinks ❤️. The restaurant met my expectations in every category. I would go again. The reason for 4/5 stars is because of racial profiling remarks I have received from a server there toward the end of the dinner, but he has been fired for his racist remarks😅.
Paris inspired bistro with super cozy decor. Got some delicious drinks and would definitely be back to order food. Was sitting there while the kitchen opened and the smell was making my mouth water since it so good.
Excellent food and cocktailsEvery dish was excellent and even the crepe was better than most.Frog legs were well prepared and tender. Well seasoned and cookedEscargot better than most**Foie Lollipops- highly recommended!Service excellent
Amazing. I’ve had naughty dreams about the Brussels Sprouts ever since. Service was impeccable. Ambience expected. Accommodating; beyond. Will go back again and again. We tried 8 different items, not counting 6 different cocktails. (There was two of us). That’s how amazing it was. We wanted a fu$&:8( bite of everything. Run to this garden level bistro. You won’t be sorry.
The blackberry daiquiri was absolutely delicious. The duck confit was a little salty for my taste and a little strong on the truffle oil, but my friend loved it. I had some of her crepe which was really good.
Loved this place. Once we saw French tapas we were sold and had to try it out. First time trying frog legs, and while it wasnt my favorite food, it was really fun to try. We had some other great dishes as well and the service was very friendly. Cozy place, great for a get together with friends before heading out.
The best bar I have ever been to since I moved to NY. The Cosmopolitan (my favorite drink) is delicious and the set up is like going back in time. If you want a quick trip to France I highly recommend coming to this bar.
5 star vibes, 5 star service, 2 star food.Eat before and come for drinks. The menu is pretty bare, expensive and had some meaningful misses.
Nice find in the East Village. Tucked down a few stairs is a long narrowish, cozy, French stylish spot. Good craft cocktails and tasty tapas. Was quaint but the space was filled with good vibes
For the price, this place is great. Small French tapas cooked very well. I truly feel you get what you pay for. Perfect for a night or with a small group of friends.
An almost hole in the wall, cost little bar with awesome frogs legs and well made terrine, they call it country pate. Surprised that it was not busier on a Tuesday evening. The frogs legs was perfectly done! I would definitely try their other stuff when I go back.
Coziest spot in the area! Amazing food and very friendly staff!! Johann is best chef 🤍 strongly recommend
Staff here is so friendly - greeted us on the street and convinced us into getting a round of mezcal cocktails (L’Antonieta). They have a limited food menu and a couple high top tables set up on the sidewalk if you want to hang around. Popular spot on a lively street. Go hop around some of the other bars while you’re in the area!
Great drinks and tapas! Really friendly bartender and lovely place, except that the place was a bit warm. The cocktails are amazing
Came for a nightcap and will definitely be back. I had a Mezcal Old Fashioned which was amazing, their Classic Old Fashioned is good too.
Drinks: A+, amazing drinks, good variety.Food: A, delish crêpes.Ambiance: A, really warm environment, very rustic feeling, not too crowded, and great music!Value: A, really good value, but definitely on the expensive side.Service: A+, great service from there bartenders... they’re very talented mixologists.Environmentalism: A, love the no straws campaign and the pasta straws.
Looks like a hole in the wall place until you step inside! Everything we tried was delicious in flavor and we even got to try frog legs which I never had before.
Fabulous - we came here after work on Friday, I think this could be a new tradition for us. Great food, fun and super good service - cannot wait to eat the menu!!! Hahahaa.
It was a nice cozy french tapas bar. Food was great. We enjoyad our beef tartar and Fio gra. The server was very friendly. He was funny and great server. Highly recommend it
Great cozy french spot in the LES! vibe, food, drinks and service all impressed. all of the food was fantastic but highly highly recommend the shrimp and brussel sprouts . ambiance is cozy chic french speakeasy, prices super reasonable, and music is great as well. definitely recommend!! 😊
Good service and an extensive tapas menu with cocktails. The bone marrow was on the small side.
Great food, cocktails and service!
Randomly got into this place and immediately fell in love with this hidden gem! The cocktails are awesome and the service is great :) The place is specially designed too.
Loved the vibes of this cute and cozy French spot! You may miss the location since its tiny but the decor is cute, the service is great (thanks Doug!) and the tapas are delicious! We tried several things but the highlights were the frog legs (we were first timers), the crepe Suzette and the drinks...yum! You wont be disappointed, feel free to mention us when you get there :)
This place is an incredible French bar! 🇫🇷 Excuse My French offers a fantastic selection of cocktails 🍸 and alcoholic drinks 🥃 alongside cheeses 🧀, meat 🍖, classic French dishes 🍽️, and delicious 🤤 small plates! Definitely get their charcuterie board with Fromager dAffinois and Gruyere cheese, sausages 🌭, cornichon pickles 🥒 , and sliced baguette! 🥖 They also have nice selection of international beers! 🍺The staff 👨🍳 is super friendly and professional, service is quick ⏲️, ambience 🎶 is amazing, and the place is beautifully decorated! 🛋️ This spot is pretty small and has limited seating 🪑 so make a reservation 🛎️ (even though we were able to just walk 🚶♂️ in and grab seats). I wish I knew about this place earlier!
Very good cocktails, international beers, very good food and great service!!! Too Small plates!
Lovely French spot in LES. Great atmosphere, creative drinks and delicious small plates! The figgy-rita and bone marrow were excellent!
We hit this place randomly but it was a huge surprise! The server fit us in at the bar (very lucky!). The vibe is super super good! Not too loud, very French romantic, well decorated. We were here for a drink but the food was also very surprisingly good! The price is also fair. Will come again! Nice place for a french style date.
Amazing food prepared from the chef in front of you! Definitely coming back, became one of my favorite spots now. The restaurant is a little small and intimate but it’s a must!
Delicious. Portions are bigger than expected. Cute decor great for pics
Lovely, lovely, lovely little hole in the wall that will surprise you with the nuanced, French menu, surprisingly generous portions and skilled bartenders. Let Excuse My French take you by surprise. I stopped in to escape the heat and was super pleased to find a place that satisfied my desire to sample many different plates and have exceptional drinks. The service was also fantastic, the servers and bartender alike (was seated at the bar top) were very attentive. Will absolutely be coming back, and bringing friends!
The price is a bit overpriced for its food. The vibe is great, but I wouldn’t come here for the food
We made our way to the restaurant after a show and found it perfectly cozy and friendly. We had a chef view seat which was wonderful since we live taking with the staff about our meal and asking for recommendations. There is also more intimate seating if you want to enjoy your own company too.Everyone we came in contact with was very pleasant and focused on us, the service was superb. The food was simply outstanding and the small plate portions allowed you to try many flavors. The Duck Rillet and Frogs Legs were just two of our favorites. If you have ever wanted to try the frogs legs, these are by far the best I have ever had and a wonderful introduction. In short, a delightful visit with wonderful service, delightful cocktails, and amazing food.
Enjoyed a delightful cocktail and a friendly bartender which made for a lovely stop during our evening out.
We made a reservation on Resy to celebrate our friends who were coming out of town for Saturday night at 8:30.We arrived 10 minutes early me and my wife so we decided to wait for our friends outside the restaurant. When they arrived we walked in 8:42 pm.I Have NEVER EVER seen anything like this in my entire 16 years of life in New York City. The HOST with the hat was by far the RUDEST person we have EVER seen, totally disrespectful and dismissive, he canceled the table because we were more than 10 min late, although no one was waiting for a table.Hospitality business is all about listening and caring for customers. You should be ashamed of yourself .Never again..we went to LENA and had a blast there.. courteous host with a great smile and awesome French food.
The fact that this place doesn’t get more praise for their cocktails is astounding. It’s one of the best hidden restaurant/cocktail bars in the lower east side
Amazing service! frog legs were the best i’ve ever had. the duck confit wasn’t what i was expecting so it came as a surprise. not my fave but still decent. the crepe was huge and great to share! overall pretty good and i would return. restaurant week menu met it’s value as i left stuffed
Bartenders were super nice and funny and that made my dining experience so much better! Food was mouthwatering-good (got the beef sliders and shrimp - both looked too perfect to eat)
Dip in after walking the city all day for a ginger in Chinatown! It will be just the thing you need. Fun vibe fun timesThey also have an amazing aviationWe just had drinksWill be back for food soon
Cute spot on Orchard street below street level. Serving up.tasty cocktails amd delicious eats. We went for an after dinner drink and ended up getting a couple of bites. The sous chef came by to check how we like the food which was nice. The drink was good and the vibes werw awesome. Definitely Will come back..good date spot as well
Great for intimate drinks or homey French small share plates. Reservations are highly recommended since the place is quite snug. Escargot and beet salad are a must.
Came here for after dinner drinks, really cool bar with a fantastic atmosphere and vibe. Ricardo, the owner comes round and talks to his customers, super friendly nice guy. Great service and range of drinks, really enjoyed it, definitely recommend coming here.
French tapas was yummy!! This is a fabulous quaint place in the heart of the LES! The service was top notch! Friendly, helpful and inviting! I definitely hands down highly recommend this place! Check this restaurant out!!
Nice vibe, good service. Confit was dry and lacked any deep fat flavor. Escargot was expensive and only 6 snails. Tuna tartare had bits of sinew. Wouldn’t go back here.
French food with a modern twist in tapas style so you can try many dishes! Very cute atmosphere, great tasting dishes. Perfect place to meet friends for light meal and wine. The food is distinctively French but modern. Cocktails are tasty as well.
Quintessential LES hole in the wall for French tapas! The space is TINY with true elbow-bumping NYC vibes. But that adds to the charm.Food was impeccable. Tried half the menu - my favorite dish was the scallops. Great cocktails too.Good for dates, good with a friend, but avoid with a larger party due to size constraints.
We had a great time here! Came for dinner with friends and ordered drinks and appetizers. The atmosphere is very charming inside (gallery walls with art, bookshelf wallpaper concealing their bathrooms in the back…) - from the outside it definitely looks like a hole in the wall - but overall, this place lives up to its reputation.Pros:-Menu is a bit limited so would definitely recommend taking a look in advance-Food and drinks were delicious!-Great for tapas that you share with your group OR you can order individually-Very cute and charming atmosphere- Smells great too!Cons:-The hostess outside was very rude to us when we arrived - she looked like anyone else hanging outside, looking off into the distance, until we started walking down the steps and she stopped us saying she HAD to walk us to our table (note: that half of our party was already seated inside). (Besides the hostess, our server was very friendly)-A bit tight between tables/the space in general is pretty small (this does give it some character though)-For drinks, we ordered the 14 Karat bubbles, Strawberry blonde, Mezcal Manhattan, and Spicy summer Pimm’s cup. All of these tasted and looked great. The 14K bubbles will have you sparkling all night ;)For food, we got the Frog legs, Croque monsiuer, Canjun chicken, and Duck rillettes. Everything was pretty tasty! The frog legs especially were fantastic (probably due to the garlic butter they were seasoned with) and surpassed our expectations - This was our first time trying frog legs. The croque monsiuer was very soft and filled with cheese but left me wanting a “pop” of some kind of flavor.Overall, would definitely recommend. This is the perfect place if you’re looking for drinks and tapas…oh and get the frog legs!!
We went here for some drinks, reading good reviews, but were pretty disappointed in most everything we ordered. The food especially was very sub-par, especially for the prices charged - the salmon didnt taste like salmon, and the Cajun chicken was way overcooked!I get that theyre primarily a bar, but even their drinks were not well-crafted. With so many other good places serving good cocktails in Manhattan, theres really no room for error . Service was good however, but we probably wouldnt go back there.
The cuisine was exceptional and greatly impressed us, however, we did encounter a bit of disappointment with the service as some of the staff seemed to have a less than amicable demeanor. Other then that if you want to try new dishes, we recommend to try out their frog legs. Made with Provençal garlic butter, it was tender and delicate with a mild, and slightly sweet flavor. The garlic butter adds richness and depth, along with a subtle hint of garlic and herbs, enhancing the overall taste experience. Whenever we go to a french restaurant we love ordering the Escargot. Its savory and buttery. The flavor of the snail complements the strong garlic and fresh parsley that it is bathed in. They give you bread to soak up rich garlic and butter sauce. We also ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare. It was a light and flavorful dish, and you get that natural flavor of the fish. Silky and tender goodness, with a subtle crunch from the sesame.
Wonderful environment and true to their cuisine. Ive tried almost every item in the menu and each is as delicious as the other. The cocktails are handcrafted, tasty and refreshing, my favorite is LAntoinette (love hearing the story from owner of how this drink was inspired and it also changes color).
Really confused by the overwhelmingly positive reviews. The food here is terrible. We ordered the truffle ravioli, the yellowfin tuna tartare, and the goat cheese and fig tartine. My friend and I couldnt decide which was the worst. The tartine bread wasnt even toasted, the tartare tasted like a wierd chemical, and the ravioli was a densely packed small dish of carbs and cheese that is very salty, and served with 4 more slices of ok baguette. The Happy Hour means that each person gets a buy one get one wine, beer, or cocktail. My friend had the red wine which she thought was ok, but I had the chardonnay which was meh.The atmosphere is very nice. There is a beautiful tin ceiling, and the basement space is quite cozy and wasnt overly loud when we were there around 6:30 on a weeknight. We had 2 servers for some reason and one was great, while the other one seemed almost irritated that we were even there :-) The second star is just for the decor, but overall we considered this a miss - $105 for 3 barely edible tapas plates and 4 glasses of mediocre wine.
Have been to this places many times. Perfect for a date or just friens dinner. Place is very small so if you want table better make reservation.Food is great, atmosphere is charming.Garlic Shrimp Skewer definitely something to order.Escargot Persillade was okCrispy Tacos was definitely something to come back for .Frog legs could have been better.Brussels Sprouts was delicious.Unfortunately, they dont make duck confit anymore, which I think they should bring it back...Over all really nice place, and great people working there.
The plates are better than the drinks here. The servers were decent, but brought us our bill too quickly and we could not order more drinks but they were only okay anyway so it worked out. Cute space in a great location.
Killer drinks, great prices (for the area), flawless fall vibes, everything smells like garlic, and it improbably has the best deep house playlist in NYC. Could not recommend this place more, A+++++.
Absolutely amazing bakery. My 3 and 5 year old loved it too. We definitely will be back!
What a wonderful dinner experience! Great romantic little place . Delicious French classics and more. Friendly service
Love it here! Food is soo good.
Johan, the chef owner, works his magic solo in a very compact kitchen area open so all guests can see & savor the sounds, aromas & beautiful presentation of his incredible cuisine. Three of us delighted in the escargots, brussel sprouts, tuna & magnificent baked portobello mushroom. We topped it off with the crepe suzette! I felt as if I were in Jacques Pepin’s own home kitchen. The rose & Malbec were delightful. Our waiter was perfect in every way, recommending 2 small plates per person. Don’t go to Paris come here & you will love the ambiance too. We cannot wait to return to NYC & this heavenly gem again!
Stopped in here quickly for a small bite, unfortunately we were in a bit of a rush, we wish we could have taken our time here and will definitely be back. Our service was fast and our waiter was very attentive. Food and cocktails are top notch.
Friendly staff! We ordered everything and they were patient and helpful with recommendations. My favorites were the cheeses and the wine. All the food was amazing!
8/3/2024
The drinks are great but the portions are EXTREMELY small for the price (25+ for a tiny dish), and the quality doesn’t match the price
Delish!! Cocktail was great (will come back just to try more — extensive cocktail menu) cheeseboard was generous, and tapas were great. Definitely small and cozy but great lively vibes!!!
This cozy LES spot makes a great cocktail and has some good French tapas options. The service was great at the bar. We ordered brussels sprouts which were great, duck confit and potato which was also really good, and a baked portobello mushroom which wasn’t something we cared for. Certainly recommend for a chill night out in a quiet, not overly crowded spot.
This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem! The foie gras was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! It was so good that the aroma is still in my mind and I can’t forget about it! The roasted sesame on top of the foie gras was a very smart combination that added even more to its amazing flavor! I would say this was the best foie gras that I’ve ever tasted in my life! The frog legs also exceeded our expectation. They were very well seasoned and thoroughly marinated into the bones. These two were our favorite and we thought they were better than escargot, raw beef tartare, and duck confit. We felt sad for the restaurant because there were no other customers when we had our dinner. The pandemic hit a lot and could also be the weather on that day. Please come and eat and support them!! The waiter was very friendly and the food definitely deserve more customers!!
Cute hidden gem. Love the rotational menu to reflect seasoned beverages. The escargot was delicious!! Duck pate was also great to share. Very friendly staff. Cafe & cigarros and the Mariposista were my new favs
Cute little spot ! I was here on September 4th during the Covid-19 outdoor street dining . Definitely get the Escargot and a Cheese Plate . Drinks were imaginative and STRONG . Our waiter was really nice too .In the Lower East Side on Orchard Street .
Love this cozy bar and restaurant in the LES! My favorite Happy Hour in town with the best Kir Royales outside of France! Juan Carlos and Bill are the best too - make sure to introduce yourselves for a local welcome - cant wait to go back!
Amazing appetizers, and delicious good looking drinks,
Really nice find in a sea of restaurants - Excuse My French stands out with its authentic French food, interesting decor and great vibe and atmosphere. The music they play is not too loud, so its a nice place to catch up with friends. The baked camembert brussel sprouts and foie gras were excellent!
I still have very warm reoccurring flashbacks to the place, especially the duck rillette dish. The wine and the cheese plate were just as you’d expect from French-themed restaurant - very tasty. I was so happy to see a baguette on 2 out of 3 dishes we ordered. Finally, I didn’t have to ask for extra toasts right as cheese plate comes out.We also ordered a baked stuffed mushroom, and it was good but nothing special really. It’s a narrow but cozy space, dim-lit, the kitchen is right behind the bar - watch your tapas prepared! Will definitely be back to try more!
This is a nice chill spot, great for friends or couples. Both food and drinks are above par! Bartender was really friendly and experienced too. Definitely had a pleasant experience
Just discovered this place and loved it. If you’re looking for a nice casual “French” vibes and great tapas and drinks to enjoy, this is a good option :)
Probably one of the most amazing finds on the LES and now that conbud is down the street and you can walk down- smoke a joint have a drink & have a chill vibe….unique and special.
Great food and wine! The restaurant setup feels very European and the staff is courteous and efficient. Our waiter provided excellent suggestions for the table and checked in on us without being intrusive.
I hidden gem absolutely fantastic. I’m hesitant to write this review because I don’t want this place to get too popular that I can’t get a table.
Good service here ~A lot of space at the bar
I went a little while ago with some friends and we all highly enjoyed it. It’s a fun tapas place with a fun energy. If you are looking for a slightly above average tapas place this is your spot!
After a stressful day at work, Excuse My French is the perfect place for me to unwind. I look forward to LAntonieta - a cocktail that blends the smoky taste of mezcal with sweet and tart - plus a touch of magic you just have to experience. My favorite tapas right now are the escargot and the yellow fin tuna. The sliders are really great too. I love the cornichons served on top.
Amazing cocktails and highly recommend adding a charcuterie to pair with your drink selections. Quite cozy, but great place to stop if you can get two seats at the bar.
These are the kind of businesses that make me love nyc. Immigrant owned and run. Food -excellent , drinks - amazing , atmosphere -inviting and friendly; makes you feel like a regular from day one. If you are looking for a neighborhood wine and tapas bar this is it. Support local businesses they keep the spirit of nyc alive and well
I happened upon this bar a few doors down from my hotel, and suggested it to a friend for drinks—and wow, am I glad we gave it a shot!Amazing drinks! I’m a Corpse Reviver fan (pretty niche cocktail) and Sam’s Corpse Reviver was the best I’ve ever had. Hands down.Brian kept it rocking with tunes and a fun atmosphere; everyone was so fun, welcoming and good at what they do. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. We had a blast. Truly a hidden gem on the Lower East Side. Can’t wait to go back and try the food—if it’s anything like the cocktails, it’s bound to be exceptional. Will be back as long as this place is around; new LES fave for sure.
Amazing restaurant with beautiful decoration, excellent food and great service.
Absolutely amazing experience. Cocktail menu was well put together, good variety and an knowledgeable bartender. Food was fantastic, ratatouille and croque misuer were stand-outs, but even the opening cheese plate was better than most.
This place is a little gem, great food, great cocktails and lovely staff. They always play good music but at a level where can you can still hear your companions.
Some friends and I came here based on the high reviews, and we were honestly pretty disappointed. One of our servers was maintaining a comically-rude schtick, which was more uncomfortable than funny. All of the service interactions felt awkward and greatly affected the experience. The only dish I would get again is the duck rillettes charcuterie, which felt like a good amount and pretty good quality. The three other tapas dishes were underwhelming in taste / quality, and for each being ~$20 a real shame. The crepes felt like a scam for how expensive they are + how little you get, especially with nearby establishments offering better quality and more quantity for less money. The drinks were pretty good. If I came back, I think it would only be for drinks, I wouldn’t recommend for food.
Food was made to order and fresh, everything was very tasty and full of flavor. The drinks were also made very nicely. Would definitely recommend.
Food was excellant.even brussel sprouts tasted great.
This was an amazing place to stumble upon. The bartender was incredible, and prices were so good for the quality of mixology and story telling. It felt very magical. Cest tres magnifique. Jadore. Xoxo Canada
Interesting couple of cocktails on a Sunday afternoon hiding from the heat. Delicious little olives as well! Great service and great music mix.
Cute tapas place in the LES. Lots of good small plates to choose from and the aesthetic is pretty as well. The space can be kind of crammed, (so keep that in mind if you’re sitting inside at the bar) but other than that it is great!
The quality of food and drinks were incredible. Service was fantastic and many options for seating
Cute place. Good service. Space is a bit tight. Would come again. (Note I only tried the drinks and cheese, not a meal)
Really cozy and great interior. Had the 2 for 1 deal and had 4 cocktail for $24. This happens before 7pm when we went on Friday.
Staff is really fun and nice. And food is awesome. A good place to go during COVID since they Re very serious about the safety rules.
Cozy friendly and fast. Steak tartare and Croque M was fantastic affordable as well. Perfect for date night. Doug was a great server as well.
Very cute and cozy, and not too crowded... what more could you ask for? Highly recommend!
I came here for cocktails and a light dinner with my fiance. We loved it! The cocktails were well crafted and all have a detailed story/description behind them. They were also tasty and well balanced. We had 4 different cocktails total and all were amazing. We shared a cheese plate, and then I had the escargots and he had the croque monsieur. The cheese was very good and came with sliced baguette, jam, grapes, and sliced apples. The escargots were amazing and were served in the shell (which is fairly rare here) and the sauce/preparation was great as well. My fiances croque monsieur is apparently the best hes had in NY! Hes French and has had his fair share of croque monsieur all over Manhattan. We will definitely be back here soon!
When old New York meets 2018 New York. A distinctive atmosphere in the heart of LES. Very well executed original and simple dishes. Always coming back.
Cute tapas/cocktail bar! super snuggly and unassuming, but detailed, moroccan-styled decors. cocktails were great, dishes were phenomenal. portion size is perfect for 2-3 to share.
Stopped in for cocktails 🍸 and had a great aviation and good conversation with the staff.
Great drinks, with a great happy hour. Staff always nice and attentive. Food is a bit expensive but is great quality.
Really cool French bistro in LES ! All the dishes we tried were great and service was good. We really liked the croque monsieur and butterfly salmon which came with ratatouille; very delicious. The house red wine was also great. Cool place to catch up with friends.
Small inside, but very relaxed vibe and an ideal choice if you like shareable cheese plates and charcuterie! Great wallpaper.
Such a cute place. Come right when the bar reopens for dinner and grab a seat at the bar! The drinks are great and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely come back again.
Great drinks! Great crêpes! Super friendly bartender. Very nice experience :) Definitely will be back.
Lovely place, tapas made by a French chef, great service and awesome atmosphere! Will definitely go back soon, convenient place too!
Best espresso martinis in Manhattan
Great atmosphere and staff. Great location. Food was good.
Very cute and cozy restaurant. Love the duck confit and their royale cocktails are refreshing.
The food was absolutely STELLAR! Loved the meals we got! Definitely returning!
Most of their floral drinks are VERY aromatic, memorable and enjoyable. This place is extremely cozy and tight but charming; speakeasy kinda vibe. Kind wait staff. I recommend the lavender royale.
Delicious drinks and a cozy, slightly below street level locale. I suggest the LAntionieta, it comes with a good story 😀.
So... we were there, we got there before happy hour finished, after that they charged us twice instead the real price, then they added the gratuity even when we where just 4 people !! Be careful if your are foreign ! Or speak different language ! Worst service ever !
Its a wonderfull food with nice cocktails home made. Cosy and smart. Great place
I loved this place. The crepes were 😘👌
Good food, great vibe, very friendly. I’d definitely recommend this place!
Good date vibe, excellent bar service and cocktails, tasty interesting food. Highly recommend. Good tunes too.Can dress casual it’s not fancy/snooty.3 plates and bunch of drinks was 200 including tip for two ppl.2 plates and few drinks would’ve been 125-150 with tip my guess.Good spot!
Absolutely love this bar, it’s so cozy and the drinks are fantastic. During the holidays they also have some of the most beautiful decor which adds such a nice feel.
Great spot with a fun vibe and solid happy hour. Friendly staff and excellent service!
An ornate hidden underground secluded spot serves quality food and drinks , making for an excellent date spot as well as a meeting place for friends
Inside feels like another time period with beautiful decor. It’s very small and it felt crowded easily. The host was in a rush although not many people were there. I was seated at the bar which was okay for a solo eater. They had their winter menu for Restaurant week. I ordered a Moulin Rouge (not included in restaurant week), escargot, duck confit and chocolate coulant. The drink was well mixed and the bartender was pleasant. The escargot seasoning was okay. The duck confit had a cold part near the middle. Overall If you’ve never had French food this place would be nice but if you’ve had it before chances are you wouldn’t come back. I spent around $95 that evening.
Kareem knocked it out of the park. I should come back tomorrow.
The bar is very cute! The vibe is good, and the bartender was nice, though understandably too busy to engage beyond our order. The drinks were expensive, but mediocre. I had a Its the Great Pumpkin Daquiri, Charlie Brown and my partner had the Moulin Rouge, both rum cocktails with alluring promise from the words on the menu. Both drinks ultimately fell flat. They seemed thin or diluted in general, though specifically the Pumpkin Daquiri was much sweeter than expected (nothing indicating syrup or sugar on the menu) and the Moulin Rouge was lacking flavor and felt uninspired. We decided not to stay for another drink. The 3-star rating for food is really for drinks, as we did not have any food (just came for after-dinner drinks).
Excellent food. The slides were amazing. The scallops were excellent.
Delightful French small plates. GrilledShrimps are fantastic.
A charming ambiance cannot make up for the culinary misses. The coq au vin tasted more like teriyaki chicken and was dry. The tuna tartare was soused in sour yuzu and paired with jarring fruit. Steak tartare was grey; ooph. Cheese was supermarket quality. Maybe it’s gone downhill from the other good reviews?
Cozy and romantic, but limited menu and pricey.Amazing foie gras!
Probably the worst duck confit Ive ever had: the duck tasted a bit off and whatever bread it was served between had gone totally mushy. What I got was a very far cry from some of the pictures of the same dish from other (possibly older) reviews. Lackluster brussel sprouts. Good cheese plate. The drinks were excellent and the service at the bar was perfect.
The best place to eat and drink
Cool space, small but nicely decorated. Small portions great for sharing. Great service.
Maybe we got the wrong things (croque monsieur and steak tartare) but it was truly so bad.
Very expensive and rude waitress. The food is ok but not outstanding. Would not go again
Very chill with great drinks, fantastic French tapas, and low volume chill music.
Cozy, and delicious food.Live their cocktails !
Great food, excellent service. Definitely recommend.
Beautiful place, wonderful food, great staff ❤️ will be coming back for more 100%
Lovely place for drinks with friends. Service is great!
Perfect evening 😍 Amazing food, cocktails and music. Gorgeous ambiance perfect for date night, would come back again with girlfriends too. One of my favourite spots in the area 🤩
I normally don’t review but this place deserve my first! What a gemm this place is, cozy, with fantastic atmosphere, the music is too good! the best place to bring your other half or just hang out with friends, 14Feb decorations and set up was very nice, great place for dining, the food is first class, from entree to dessert, cocktails selection is extraordinary, the staff is attentive and great costumer service focus even with some rude customers I witnessed that didn’t deserve to be treated right, highly recommended place! Make sure to make reservation, we arrived first and was packed when we left
Fantastic cocktails and tapas. Great for a date!
People put up with this?Staff on their phones.Screwed up the bill. Charged us after the fact. How to guarantee I never come back?
Tasty crepes, nice service.
Food is great but its a really tight restaurant
Expertly made classic cocktails and French small plates in a charming setting.
Come for the drinks, stay for the tapas (and some more drinks). Oh - and ask for the crepe with grandmas secret recipe.
Had an amazing meal there. Fun atmosphere. Great music. Nice decor.
Everything was delicious. My family had a lovely time
Looking forward to my next experience in this exceptional atmosphere. French, French,French ambience for sure…
A happy little nook with delicious bites and eye-opening sips in the heart of LES.
Fantastic! Great food, lively atmosphere and delicious, but very strong drinks. It is a tight space, but the crowds move quickly as the food is served without delay. Portions sizes are moderate, but still good for sharing. The chef and entire staff are quite gracious and attentive. Will most definitely be back.
Great vibes, food & drinks. Love this place!
Great atmosphere. Perfect for a date or solo dining. Nice mix of cocktails and unique menu items. Nutella crepe, of course. They have edible flowers and extract the oils in-house for the flower champagnes. Overall, pretty unique. Appreciate the Gustav Klimt painting on the wall.
Super cute restaurant. Very chill vibe. They have a lot of different specialty cocktails. Came on a Saturday night and sat in the back almost right away. Servers were really attentive.Got the cauliflower which was amazing. They cook a whole one with some sauce. Some people at my table didnt really like it, but I enjoyed it. Also has the mini sliders which were good and tried the brussel sprouts too which were good. Would come back to try some of their other drinks but maybe go some place else for food if you are really hungry because plates are small and its more for sharing.
Great service. Friendly people. Good food.
A very corky place with a great ambiance. It can get tight, but is very cozy - perfect for 2 to 3 people. Drink specials were amazing and the bartender was great. Food was OK, but at the price point should have been better. We found portions to be on the smaller size and everything a little too salty.
Horrendous service. Staff is trying to rip you off. Avoid this place unless you like being ripped off.
As charming as it looks from the street.
A bit pricy for the food, but good eats, fun drinks, and top tier ambiance/music selection
Been to my fair share of bars around nyc this one the bartender and owner came out demanding everyone to get a drink. I was pretty shocked and asked to repeat what they demanded and sure enough not a friendly place at all telling my friends they must order a drink. How is anyone going to want to stay at a place after that I’ll never come back and I feel like in nyc you will find way better options.
One of my favourite finds in the city! Perfect for a cosy evening with a date or friends. They’ve a great selection of wine and deadly cocktails! Service is fantastic too.
Service was terrible by the bartender.
Love this place! Stopped by one evening at random. Delicious old fashioned, delicious nibbles, warm service and a wonderful cozy, wintry vibe. Plus - a great happy hour!
This place is so small and cozy. Small menu, good options. Food will come to the table as soon as is ready. So it’s perfect if you want to share. Will definitely come back.
Had a great time. Strong drinks. 😉
Visited on March 05, 2022 in the evening. Was looking forward to this as we traveled across the country to visit NYC and it was a recommendation from a great friend who’s a regular at this place. Worst service I’ve ever experienced and very disrespectful host.
Amazing drinks & food
Charming little spot with French dishes tapas style. Quite delicious but wont blow you away. The escargot and duck confit are great choices, the chicken in tagine pot was dry. Still a great date night spot with well executed food and drink
Great place, great service, great ambiance! 10/10 would recommend!
Fantastic food and great cocktails. Authentic french w/ modern spin. Intimate environment, great service. Pretty much perfect. Highly recommend.
Excellent staff, great food. Ambiance was relaxed with great background music. The owner is super friendly. Great place for a date.
Great Food and Drinks. Service was very helpful and friendly. Really romantic for date night! Steak Tartare was brilliant!
Delicious French tapas with satisfying well drinks. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff make for an enjoyable respite.
A hidden gem, but not for long. Great place for a drink and Parisian tapas. The escargot is amazingly fresh and authentic Parisian. Duck confit, Brussels sprouts insanely good. Friendly people who deserve the success that we New Yorkers heap on the deserving....
Best food ever 5 stars and my compliments to the Chef
The French toast sandwiches are amazing. Did not dine in sadly, I had to order delivery. But the food was 12/10. Home fries were on point too.
Nice simple menu, delicious tapas. They have a good selection of wine and bar menu. Service is great and it was nice to chat to the head chef/owner.
Small & cozy restaurant serving great food and drinks Professional and friendly staff.
Very disappointing visit for several easy-to-fix reasons. It was very clear they were understaffed, or simply not using enough enough staff for outdoor seating. After ordering drinks and waters, neither came out until the waiter returned 15 minutes later (and noticed this) to order our food. After ordering food, the food started arriving and we still didnt have water or drinks (or even plates and cutlery) for the food that was coming out (30 min after first order). I think we must have waited between 40-50 min just to get our cocktails halfway through our meal and after seeing many parties who sat down after us getting their drinks. Id like to stress the waiter was friendly and seemed to be doing his best, but it was clear he was handling way too many tables and ours just got lost in the mix. Also a small bit of small feedback, the speck was both under-cured and too thickly cut. The rest of the food we ordered was great, and the cocktails were good too. Hope this feedback helps.
Amazing place. Great atmosphere and vibe
A new great spot to dip into for a glass of wine and a bite. nice atmosphere, thoughtful menu, attentive staff. interested to see how it grows.
Ricardo and Bill were not only sweet but super knowledgeable of the city and good eats around them. They are welcoming to all beings. Excellent tapas style food amazing drinks and wine selections. Beautiful vibes and delicious food. I ate it so fast I forgot about pics. Also what a superb happy hour!XODeylight
I ordered a cheese plate for delivery, so I cant speak on the service, but I was extremely impressed by the food. Im sure packaging a cheese plate is difficult, but I still got all the bits and bobs like fruit and jam (and just about an entire baguette, lol!). The portions were extremely generous and everything was delicious (including the bucheron, which was FANTASTIC). Would definitely recommend for any cheese enthusiasts!
Delicious tapas! Solid drinks and great service... definitely I am coming back
I don’t get the chance go often but if i did i might become an alcoholic, as the drinks here are obscenely delicious. Can’t wait to spend an evening here again to experience the drink magic they’re workin with here!
Absolute hidden gem, amazing food and cocktails in charming intimate setting, must visit
Nice little cocktail bar serving tapas thats only been open for a few months. Each cocktail on the menu is deliberately selected for a history or background somehow related to France. And if you can guess the title or artist of all 10 paintings in the bar, you get a free round.
Lovely, small, French tapas bar. Delicious food, great music and friendly staff. Would absolutely return
Went in for drinks and was definitely not disappointed. Very different but insanely good. Can’t wait to go back again.
Great staff. Delicious drinks. Didnt get to try the food. Will be back!
Ultra cool bar with a great line up of drinks and food. Will definitely be back
Great staff, good food, nice vibe.
