The lokal burger (lamb burger) was a standout—perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly, making the whole dining experience feel warm and welcoming.
Lovely little neighborhood restaurant on the Upper West Side. Cozy and warm inside and truly a wonderful place for a nice dinner. Service was slow the night I was here. Dinner was excellent, the appetizer came out after dinner and didn’t wow me, but it it was served before the entree, it probably would have been fine. All fresh ingredients. I will go back, the actual dinner was that good.
Cozy restaurant with delicious food and drinks! The homemade bread was the best Ive had in years. My meal was very flavorful and a great portion size. The menu has lots to chose from and the service was great. Highly recommend this place!
We stopped in for lunch and to avoid the rain and what a treat. Cute place, friendly service, great wine pours, and a tasty lunch. The bread brought to the table was piping hot and topped with butter or olive oil. Perfect on a cold rainy day. Nice wine options and great pours for the price! The chicken shish wrap had lots of grilled chicken and the side salad was fresh and crisp. The lamb burger was big and messy in a good way. Topped with a nice amount of feta and served with hot seasoned home fries.I would definitely eat at this neighborhood gem again.
Lokal 83 Mediterranean Restaurant – A Delightful Culinary Experience in the Heart of NYCLokal 83 Mediterranean Restaurant offers an authentic and vibrant dining experience right on Columbus Ave. During my visit, I enjoyed a memorable lunch with a group of friends, and the overall experience was fantastic. The meal started with a fresh and flavorful shepherd salad, the perfect introduction to the Mediterranean feast. We then moved on to the Albanian liver, which was tender and well-seasoned, a dish that stood out with its rich flavors. The kebabs were grilled to perfection, juicy and packed with spices that transported us straight to the Mediterranean coast. Desserts were another highlight – indulgent yet balanced, a sweet ending to a fantastic meal.Aside from the delicious food, the service was impeccable. The waiters and waitresses were kind, attentive, and eager to make our experience enjoyable. The staffs warmth, combined with the restaurant’s cozy atmosphere, made for a relaxing and pleasant afternoon.Overall, Lokal 83 is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Mediterranean cuisine in a welcoming and comfortable setting. Highly recommended!
I have visited Lokal per one of my colleagues suggestion. I have ordered burger and I liked it very much. Service was very good and team was very kind. I can define myself as a pretty picky person. I am definitely considering to visit and even planning to invite some of my friends. I ordered my burger as medium well, and it was as requested. Without any doubt I am suggesting Lokal to any one to try Turkish culinary. You will not regret.
Very tasty Mediterranean restaurant(as a Mediterranean lady myself)! Very light on the stomach. Also they let you sit outside with dogs which is a big plus! The knafeh is a must because theirs is not overly sweet!
Had the 3-dip of baba ghanoush, labneh, and whipped red caviar. I liked the dips in that order, favorite first. I liked the whipped red caviar the least because it was quite salty -- though I guess thats how caviar is. I had just one portion of bread, because I also was going to have the grilled octopus, so while two different persons asked me on separate occasions if I wanted more bread, I declined.I ended up finishing the baba ghanoush and labneh on their own without additional bread. Dont know if the additional bread would have cost more, but it was good to see they were attentive enough to ask if I wanted more. The grilled octopus was reasonable, not remarkable.Overall 4 ⭐ for food and service. The atmosphere was great. It was lively but not too crowded (it was a Sunday dinner).
Lokal is a pleasant, buzzy Mediterranean restaurant with a small enclosed patio on a leafy street. The menu is pretty straightforward Mediterranean cuisine, predictably pricey for the area, beautifully presented. I recommend the falafel entree!
We were a group of 5 and tried several dishes, including the shepherd salad and kebabs, all of which were delightful. The food was flavorful, and the portions were generous. All team of Local83, they all are so kind and friendly. They provided outstanding service, making us feel welcome from the moment our first step. This restaurant has a lovely, cozy ambiance and is definitely worth a visit if youre in the area!
Just had a terrific meal here tonight. We (my daughter and I) shared the following: labneh dip, pickles and feta, and the lamb sautéed. The food was all prepared to perfection. The dip was cool yet tangy, creamy and with a bit of bite provided by the walnuts and the warm delicious bread. The pickles and feta included pickles, obviously but also pickled carrots, piquant peppers and cabbage. The feta was a lovely accompaniment and paired wonderfully with the pickled veggies. Our main, the lamb sauté, was very well prepared. Served with a yummy aromatic rice and cooked with peppers and tomatoes. The whole meal was simple yet extravagantly tasty. I knocked a star for the atmosphere due to the heat in the indoor dining area and the dim lighting. Seems like all of New York wants to serve food in the dark lately. And although it was only in the upper 70’s outside tonight it was quite hot inside, so much so that we left earlier than we would have otherwise. All that aside, I look forward to my next meal at this establishment. A new favorite for sure! Oh also failed to mention that the service was terrific!!!
We love Lokal. The quality of the food is perfect.Service is good and the servers are so nice. For Persian New Year “Nowruz” as the tradition we ordered the fish from Lokal and as always we loved it. Taste like home!
We went on a Saturday and it wasn’t too busy. We started with the tzatziki (save your complimentary bread for dips) and it was super fresh and yummy. We both got the wrap brunch special which left us both stuffed. All of the food is super fresh which is great and the service was wonderful too! We’ll definitely be back!
The food here was excellent. I really enjoyed the salmon in vine leaves. The plate came with several small bundles of salmon wrapped in vine leaves. The salmon was tender and juicy, and the vine leaves added nice flavour. The side of rice was interestingly seasoned too. Presentation was unique and pleasing. I liked how the dish was not only delicious, but also wholesome and well-balanced.
Very good crab cakes, bread and Pinot Grigio. Excellent service.
Our neighborhood’s if not manhattan’s best Mediterranean restaurant with amazing fish and dips! The 5 dip spread comes with roasted veggies, hummus, yogurt, and egg plant. We always their whole fish (sea bass) with salad And roasted vegetables, and the tender lamb chops. I thought the Albanian style calf liver was excellent too. We are glad to see this restaurant doing so well in the last couple of years especially post COVID! Their staff are friendly and tentative and they made the outdoor dining experience so much more pleasant with the Nantucket style decors
A fantastic meal while dining outdoors. The bread was fresh, and hot out of the oven. The french fries were crisp, soft on the inside, and not at all greasy. My entree was the salmon and it was cooked perfectly at medium-well.
Walked in on a Saturday afternoon for brunch and the three of us were seated in a very comfortable seating at around 1:30 pm. The restaurant was not that busy, and noise levels were on the lower end.Our order consisted of Ajvar ($11), the Lokal Burger ($27), and Falafel Entree ($25). We found the food just ok. nothing spectacular, but the portion sizes were really generous justifying the portion size to price ratio. The fries with the Lokal Burger were quite disappointing - very very dry.We ordered a hot sauce on the side and were told that its a mixture of five difference spices, including some Turkish spices. Spice level on the hot sauce was amazing. Very flavorful sauce!Service was excellent and team was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely visit again with friends and family!
Lokal’s seriously one of my fave brunch spots. Its delicious, fresh, and beautifully-plated + everyone is sooo sweet here!! immaculate eats, vibes, and service. 10/10!!
Cute Mediterranean spot! The food was tasty, especially the bread that goes with the spread! Warning-The lentil patties are served cold. They are still flavorful.
Fresh great quality, big portions and tons of favour, service is friendly and efficient! They have a lil patio and outdoor dining structure if you like the fresh airI got the grilled meatballs - great texture cooked to perfection andI picked 3 dips babah ganoush hummus and eggplant salad -Grilled chicken is tender and juicy lots of flavour and the pita is nice and fresh
Food was great, we sat outside on the sidewalk.
Superb. Highly recommended! My friend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here during a quiet holiday weekend. Theres a lunch menu but we opted to go traditional menu with dips, it was hard to choose! All are yummy, a yummy tomato avocado salad, and very crisp falafel! The homemade warm bread with garlic was amazing to accompany everything. Then we moved on to dessert... cheesecake and the tiramisu!! The staff is very attentive, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is welcoming, warm, quite large inside and out. Well be back to try more of the huge menu. Make a reservation.ENJOY!!!
Great restaurant. Excellent food and service. Also pretty healthy with reasonable portions. We are here on our way to the natural History museum and were very glad that we did. Great little spot. Would definitely come here again
This is a lovely Mediterranean restaurant, situated very close to the Natural history museum in New York. The ambience is beautiful and the staff extremely friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Highly recommend the falafel, pickle with feta and the grilled octopus. Dont forget to finish your meal with a cup of Turkish tea. This is a great place to visit if you are traveling alone since they serve small plates.
Food was nicely presented, good flavor and portions. Wait staff never stopped by to check on us. Cant say they were too busy, as we were one of three tables dining for a late lunch.
We used to love this place with their amazing Turkish/Mediterranean brunch and kids friendly space. However, they changed their menu and quality drastically over the last 2 years. Our last visit was the worst brunch in a long time. Menemen was just eggs floating in tomato juice. Kids menu looked microwaved. Scrambled eggs too salty and not enjoyable.
Have ordered take out here a number of times, the food is outstanding. We havent dined at Lokal Mediterranean Kitchen in person yet but the restaurant is absolutely beautiful on the inside. The owners did a fantastic job with the decor. Well definitely add it to our list of Upper West Side restaurants to visit in the future. Needless to say, Id highly recommend it here. The food mostly importantly is excellent.
Great dinner outing with a friend! The salmon was cooked to perfection. Would recommend, and would come back!
Wow, we stumbled across this place for lunch and it was delicious! It was really lovely and we would for sure go back. The portions are very generous!
I chose this restaurant for lunch because of the reviews. The service was wonderful, very attentive and kind. I originally wanted to try the red caviar mezzi but my server told me the hummus was a better choice. I also got the octopus to accompany it. The bread for my hummus with dill and olive oil topping was the star of everything. Nice and crisp on the outside, great olive oil used and inside was nice, soft aromatic. The hummus was ok, I’ve had better and surprised when server suggested it, this sounds plain to order here out of everything available, but he said it was good. The octopus was a huge disappointment for $19. It was small, it was over cooked and dry. Texture was like dried chicken pieces with taste of seafood. I guess I wasn’t expecting a soggy octopus & red onion salad. It was on a bed of over soaked iceberg lettuce, some tomatoe, oil and herbs. It wasn’t really edible but this was my lunch… I’d avoid the octopus. Total mean was $37 with tip - I had to go elsewhere to fill up for lunch.
Wow. So freakin tasty. We sat outside, and it was a beautiful day. The food is soooo good. Baba ganoush and stewed lamb is what we enjoyed, and boy, did we enjoy it! The lamb has so much flavor and is super tender. Ive never had Mediterranean food like this. Our waiter was friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Ill keep going back!
Absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, healthy, and fresh! The service was genuine, authentic, and timely. The atmosphere was lively and joyful. I can’t wait to be back!
Our server Batuhan made the most delicious espresso martinis! 10/10 will definitely be back for more!
Really great food but Ive never been so rushed at a restaurant and they weren’t even busy. We even had a reservation! They would pace by the table and try to take our food before we were finished. It was very rude.
Lokal Mediterranean Kitchen was the perfect place to celebrate with a group of 10, including a newborn. The food was amazing, and the service was fantastic. They were very accommodating to our group and made sure we had a wonderful experience.
My waitress and host were so attentive and really made for a great dining experience. Also, the food was delicious. I’d recommend to a friend!
I dined at Lokal Mediterranean Kitchen on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. My friend & I were able to try a few cold dips/small plates along with bread. I am a bit of a picky person but the ajvar dip (roasted red pepper and eggplant puree) and lentils patties definitely stood out to me. Both were full of flavor.I opted for their Eggs Benedict with Salmon and my friend chose Steak and Eggs, both dishes came with home fries. I’ve never had poached eggs prior to and I am very much an omelette girl but I loved it. The eggs went well over the salmon & English muffins. My friend also really enjoyed her steak & eggs meal. Their Mimosa’s & Bellini’s were on point too!I am definitely looking forward to trying their pancakes/french toast and their omelettes. I hope to return soon.
Delicious food, lovely ambiance, perfect portions, what more can you ask for?
Relaxed, delicious labne and salad, polite and attentive staff!
Lokal was an absolute delight! Wed had a long day (with three kids) at the museum and needed to have a break with good eats. Not only did Lokal provide that but it was all better than imagined. We had the stuffed red peppers (our favorite dish) it was so refreshing with the lemon yogurt. We had hummus which paired fantastic with their house bread. The kids got chicken tenders and pizza. They loved it and we loved sneaking bites. I had the avocado tomato salad with grilled salmon: wow! A delight! So fresh and filling! My husband had the lamb burger with feta cheese. He devoured it. We all shared some baklava and the grownups a delicious cup of espresso. If we werent leaving NYC, wed totally return for *several* more meals. Perfect staff deserves a shout out as well.
Visited this place one evening.Location and atmosphere is nice.Food is ok. But I didn’t enjoy it
Pretty decent Mediterranean food. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
This is another go to place in the UWS area for my hubby and I. Very friendly employees and fast service. We like to come here for the happy hour (bar area only!).Happy hours are: Mon-Thu 4:00pm TO 7:00pm / FRI 3:00pm TO 6:00 / Sat - Sun 3:00pm TO 5:00pm. We like to eat the:- 3 dips for $17 ( they serve you freshly baked bread free of charge, so this is great to eat the dips with)- 3 falafel balls for $7- 3 cheese pastries (fried feta sticks) for $7- fried calamari for $8 (good for 2 people and not too salty for my taste)The vibe is always relaxed and fun, they have a big tv screen at the bar for the sports fans. If youre into Mediterranean food, I definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.
Came here for brunch one of the best ones I’ve had in the city.I had the feta omelet cooked to perfection with excellent presentation
Food is good, hummus was delicious and fresh and the server very attentive. However the food took FOREVER to get to the table, even when the restaurant wasnt packed.
Great, authentic Mediterranean food; solid service and nice decor. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday based on reviews; we were not disappointed. Flavors were a cut above, prices reasonable (for NYC), place was energetic, service and food were very prompt. Will definitely return.
The taste of meal was very good. The place is nice, calm atmosphere and prices are affordable. Special thanks to Batuhan who made us feel home.
Cute little local restaurant in the upper West side with decent GF and DF options. We stopped by for a late lunch on a Friday and it wasnt busy at all.The starters (Mezze) were really good! The mains we tried not so much (calamari was fishy and the other dish we ordered was really salty - great fries though as was the warm bread). All in all a mixed bag for food.Service was friendly and efficient.
Many of the dishes were hit or miss. The liver and spreads were excellent while the stuffed cabbage and fried zucchini were bland and generally subpar. The service is the real highlight. Attentive wait staff and friendly vibe elevate the experience.
We dined outside for dinner. Amazing mezze spreads! We ordered the babaganoush, beet and red pepper spreads. The stuffed cabbage was ok– it lacked some flavor and the presentation with the asparagus on top was interesting.
Good Mediterranean spot! The appetizer dips paired wonderfully with their exceptional bread – served hot and oily, a true treat. The Greek salad was a refreshing choice too. Definitely recommend if youre in the area or just passing by.
Lokal is always great. I have lost count of the number of times I have been to Lokal and the consistency and quality never changes. The staff is also always friendly even when its super busy. The whole fish (dorado) is a feast and make sure you kanafe for dessert. The burgers are also wonderful.
Small cute Mediterranean restaurant. Made dinner reservations after our trip to AMNH. Our overall diner experience was pretty good, but we did hope the waiter was more attentive. It often felt the other staff bringing out the food and clearing out plates were more helpful and attentive than our main waiter.
We came for a late lunch. The restaurant was fairly empty. Cocktails were in order, a variation on a gin and tonic. We ordered an appetizer of muxed pickles and feta, which was refreshing. Main course was salmon in grape leaves. The grape leaves were intense, so I removed most of them. Food was good. Price was high for what we had
Wide selection of tasty Mediterranean eats and an extensive menu of beverages. The dips and kebabs are excellent!
Lovely food! Thought Mediterranean food was always about gyros but they have more than that! Staff were so nice as well.
Fantastic meal! The hummus was delicious. The deserts here are to die for!
Good dips and mezze and a quiet, comfortable environment for an impromptu Saturday lunch.
I just happened to be in the neighborhood looking for nosh and stumbled upon this place. I added shrimp and avocado to the Greek salad and it was soooo good. I would come back in a heartbeat.
Very nice, very cool little spot. We went for brunch, food was great and service was very friendly and attentive. The bread is so good!!
We are delighted with this restaurant. The cuisine is just wow, everything was tasty and delicious. We’ve been there for several times and every time we were enjoying the dishes and top service. I would definitely say it’s one of the best of best restaurants in New York. I’ve traveled a lot and would even admit that the restaurant is one of the best in the whole country. You just can’t stop with your course.Bottom line is if you wish to enjoy good well done cuisine and get a gastronomy satisfaction go there.P.S. there is a complimentary homemade bread which is so yammy. Also, Last time we got desserts as additional components, it was so nice of the management team.
Food great, great amount of food, good service made by Barhan, very confort table too
Love the friendly staff and great food. Had the Mediterranean Breakfast for brunch. Excellent way to have a filling bit healthy start to the day. The only thing to note are the comically small napkins. Great place for brunch or dinner
Very friendly staff, good food + ambience
Excellent appetizers and small plates. Bountiful portions. Attentive service. Most of all delicious cuisine that was well prepared. We loved the beet salad and roasted peppers. Sat outside enjoying the Al fresco environment
We had an amazing dinner , great food . Looking forward to come back…
Great food and service. Wallet-friendly and big portions. Thanks to Batuhan Bey for serving us.
Lokal was delicious! We came because we had a gift card but now we will definitely be back. Service was amazing, staff was friendly, family / friendly but up beat vibes. Music was fun too. Great spot on upper west, near the museum of national history.
We found this place after spend the day at the Natural History Museum, the customer treat us very well and respectful. The waiters are very nice. We arrived at the happy hour which I highly recommend. Try the Babagonoush, is delicious.
Stunning babaganoush+pita, delicious liver, and very nice salad. Will definitely come back!
Beautiful decor. Great service. Good food.
I got a chicken noodle soup for an appetizer, crab cakes for an entree, and a gelato alongside mint tea for dessert. All of the food was good, but the crab cakes were particularly really good. In addition my waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall the atmosphere was very chill in the outdoor seating area
Great food and amazing service. We were a large party. Service was quick. Nobody rushed us. Definitely coming back!
Amazing food and service. Our daughters pizza was late to the table and they couldnt have been nicer or more apologetic. They gave her free ice cream and were so kind. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful and attentive. Cant wait to go back!
Such a great place with friendly staff & amazing entrées. Highly recommend!
Came here for a farewell dinner. Everything was amazing. Thank you Lokal
My family and I went for mothers day for the first time, and it was great. The food was delicious, great service, and mango spicy mango margarita was amazing - perfect amount of alcohol with the right amount of sweetness and spicy. We got the 3 dip platter: hummus, spicy vegetables and baba ganoush and falafel. The falafel was our least favorite but still not bad. For entrees the chicken, skirt steak and lamb were amazing!
This was fantastic. Really great Mediterranean fare. We had a grilled Orata, the gambas al ajillo, of course hummus and to finish home made baklava. All really really good. The Turkish tea also was delicious. And everybody super friendly. Will repeat.
So delicious! Fresh, fresh food, excellent drinks, outdoor seating was relaxing and the server let us sit and enjoy the beautiful Fall day in the city. The server was fantastic. Very attentive, and we even got a complimentary limoncello at the end of our meal! I had a cucumber and tomato chopped salad with feta, and The bread was incredible! Hummus wasnt recommended by my sister, she said it was bland. But everything else was so delicious! Yum! Yum! Yum!
Love this place it’s a real New York City upper west side restaurant. A little noisy outside but great atmosphere inside superb food really beautiful Mediterranean!
I was pleased with my meal here though not blown away. very nice bread with dill and oil provided before the meal (and was given to take with leftovers). the falafel entrée was tasty, though some type of sauce wouldve been really nice since the only moisture was the hummus. the vegetables were very nicely roasted and seasoned, and the cocktail i got was good as well
I would like to leave a review mostly about the server that I had that day.So I just arrived in NY - it was a very difficult flight - the early morning one, then it was late, so I was super tired and annoyed that day. I went to this place to have lunch and my mood completely changed when the server approached the table. He was extremely nice, friendly, smiling all the time, and had great food recommendations. His name was Sinan. So I had a good meal, and great communication that changed my day completely for the best!Thank you, Sinan for your service and friendliness! The management should appreciate employees like this!
Very healthy yet delicious dishes. I loved the taste and cute decor. Great to sit outside in nice weather. Definitely coming back for more.
The food here is always excellent - I always order from the small plates, mezze, salads etc. which are great value. On a recent visit the treatment from management was exceptional -- a mess up in the reservation for a large group was handled by the management with great kindness, flexibility and generosity and enabled a wonderful evening. Kudos for a very professional job well done. And the food was of course delicious!
Do recommend this place for linch or dinner! Kind and caring personal, tasty food! Enjoy this restaurant!
We love Lokal. The food is absolutely delicious. We enjoy coming for lunches when we’re in town. Our favorite dips are the baba which is made with char grilled and roasted eggplant. We also love the “pink queen” beet dip.The arugula pear salad is wonderful.Today we tried the crab cakes which were tasty, fluffy, perfectly cooked and not at all greasy.
This great place became an instant favorite of mine. The spreads are just so good. The cheese pastries are great and the stuffed peppers are delicious. We wanted a small dinner, but it ended up being a lot for two people. Very recommended!
This place is amazing! The food is fresh & delicious. Must come back!
Great food, great atmosphere, relatively quiet place (for NYC) with a little more than usual nyc space between tables.
Awesome food and very delicious. Nice atmosphere, clean friendly.
Lokal offers some of the best Turkish and Middle Eastern mezzes in Manhattan. From the excellent cocktails to the flavorful dips to an exceptionally tender octopus appetizer, we have fallen in love with this restaurant. Its worth a trip to try.The portions were very generous. We ordered too much! Each entree was big enough for two people. The vine wrapped salmon was so juicy and paired well with some labneh, which we had ordered as a dip appetizer. We very much appreciated that they have kunafe as a dessert. Its a very special treat to enjoy.I think the flavors here are really quite exceptional, and some of the best Middle Eastern food Ive had in New York so far.
Relaxed Mediterranean spot with solid family style dining options including sharable dips, standard wraps/shish platters that does enough of the job for a group lunch. $28 a dish. 3.75/5 stars as a lunch spot.
Found this place on a random walk. There is not a usual brunch menu for weekdays. (The brunch menu is only for weekends)Coffee and Bellini were fine and the service was very good. Our server explained the menu and made sure we had coffee a few times. Refilled our coffee for free 😄The soujouk is a great dish by itself but the cheese pastries need to be shared since they are very cheese and too much for one person. We shared both dishes and they complemented each other well. The best part was the complementary bread super fresh, full of dill and olive oil. The smell and taste just amazing!
Me and fiancee really enjoyed eating here . Nice ambiance - had the lamb sojouk and zucchini pancakes.small plates ,and chicken paillard aain course . We loved the lamb sojouk and zucchini pancakes - the chicken paillard and choco lava cakes were not bad . Would come again !
We ordered 3 dips; hummus, eggplant salad and spicy veggies. They came with warm bread. My favorite was eggplant salad. We ordered cheese pastries and they were fantastic!!! We skipped entree and got desert. Kunefeh was okay. The bottom was a little burnt and dry. Turkish tea was delicious! Overall pretty good minus kunefeh.
Tried this Turkish restaurant in New York. It seems warm and friendly. We loved the vibe and decorations, but their food wasn’t my favorite in general.I would give 5stars for their hospitality and cleanliness, but 3stars for their overall food and drink tastes. The Baba Ghanoush was good, the Pink Queen was better to my opinion and no to the beet salad.Their SHRIMP CASSEROLE tasted good too(Prime quality jumbo shrimps, oven baked in a clay pot with tomatoes, green and red peppers, mushrooms, garlic and topped with Italian mozzarella cheese, served with rice on the side)
We love this restaurant! We come here once a week, the food is terrific and we always ask Pinar to be our waitress she is so sweet and lovely, the service is amazing, the entire staff is wonderful!
Delicious Mediterranean food, with high quality, fresh ingredients that are perfect for this summer heat. All the staff is friendly and our waiter always gave us excellent suggestions. Definitely a place to enjoy, where there is no rush to just get by.The desserts are amazingly good and unique. All around a perfect dinner.
Just had a really nice lunch there. Very good Mediterranean food. Dips were awesome. I had the grilled meatballs wrap, GF had the beet salad and my son focused on the fries. All excellent. (and the meatballs really sang with some tzatziki brushed on)
After a cold wet trek around Central Park a trip to Lokal is definitely a great way to pick up your spirits. Delicious food matched with outstanding service you cannot ask for more.
Very consistently good food gross the board with intimate, cozy vibe
We had ordered grilled shrimp and chicken pillard- I liked the shrimp it was soft and tasty. We ordered it with homemade chips instead of salad, chips were like regular ones but i still liked it. The chicken should have been more juicy.
I was excited seeing all of the positive reviews. Food wasnt even edible this was possibly the worst food I ever had. It looks nothing like the pictures shown here. Avoid.
Vegan eats review:Stuffed grape leaves are huge!HummusLentil patties (sweet and filling)Warm toasty bread with just the right amount of olive oil and sesame seeds gives you a homey fall vibe.Super attentive staff. Not noisy.Great place for a quick eat with friends or family.Kid friendly selections.
One of our favorites on the UWS. Great atmosphere and tasty food. All of the food has a distinct home cooked feel- and all is light but filling. You dont leave feeling bloated and gross, just full and satisfied.A great little bonus - their black unsweetened tea is AWESOME. I get a glass every time, no matter the time or occasion.Staff is friendly and attentive and always accommodating.
The babaganoush is divine. I had a whole grilled Branzino .... So delish! My daughter had skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, she loved it. Any complaint would be about the lemon blueberry cheesecake.... I think a blueberry reduction sauce with real blueberries would have added so much!
Everything was Fabulous!
SUPER delicious food! All food! Everything that we ordered (fish, lamb, salad, octopus) were fantastic! Service was very fast, friendly, and attentive. No wait time on orders, bringing checks, anything. Its a gem in Manhattan! HIGHLY recommend to everyone!
First time dining and they got hit with an inspection toward the end of my visit. The kitchen came to a full stop so my to go order I put in was put on hold which wasn’t communicated but being a kitchen person myself I know how things can be hectic so I understood. Not sure if it was a manager or not but whoever it was made sure I left with everything I ordered plus more. Thank you for the service team. Food was great and will def be back. Had the stuffed cabbage and sea bass. Satisfied.
Excellent in every way! We had the branzino and the lamb stew. Both were great.Service was superb. Great ambiance. Very cozy and welcoming. We went after visiting the Natural History Museum, had some small children with us, and they were very accommodating and attentive. Definitely recommend!
The food was very delicious and the price performance ratio was good. The service was very friendly, especially the waiter Batuhan! I would really recommend this place.
One of the best Mediterranean spots Ive been to. The portions are pretty big - our party of 3 shared 2 entrees and it was more than enough. Ambiance was great and the food was absolutely amazing. The Falafel was out of this world! Ive never had such flavorful and perfectly fried falafel - not greasy at all and so deliciously seasoned. The chicken shish was so good - grilled so well, moist and seasoned to perfection. Cannot recommend these 2 dishes enough!
Try the lamb meatballs, they are amazing. Their portions are huge, you’ll have leftovers for the next day. They gave us a free dessert because we ordered through their website and didn’t hit them with the 40% Seamless charge. Great staff too when we when there for brunch before the lockdown.
This is our go-to restaurant when friends want to get together with us for a meal. The food is delicious, fresh and varied, and reasonably priced. But the cherry on top is that my vegan, gluten free wife can actually find something to eat there that she enjoys! I’m a low carb carnivore, so I’m not a problem. But I have high standards. Lokal never disappoints. Recommend it highly (lovely staff, as well).
Lokal has become a regular takeout place in our household. The food is always fresh, delicious and authentic (in my opinion). We order the Greek salad, hummus and falafel. This comes with 2 bread rolls. I would love it to be pita, but the rolls are yum too! Will be back.
Absolutely wonderful service, super on it. As for the food, well it would have to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long long time. Thank you Lokul, highly recommend!
Great food and great service 👍.
If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would. Perfect casual dining. Great staff. G and Diana are fantastic waiters. Love, Angel and Andrea
I cant talk this place up enough!! The service is awesome!! The server Cara was so attentive. The host Daniel was AWESOME!! He was engaging and attentive!! The food was excellent!! We ordered Gambas al ajillo and lamp chops the meat was flavorful and tender!! For dessert we shared the baklava...amazing is all I can say!! Would definitely come back and bring a large group!!!
This is delicious! Its mostly Mediterranean food, but they make it with great expertise. I havent tried the desserts, but the other food here is amazing! I really enjoyed the grilled shrimp and the Feta and pickle platter. It was very quiet, we came at a fairly odd time.
Food and service were great. Lamb sautée, zucchini fritters, and cheese cigars were all excellent. The quality and quantity are worth the price. The outdoor dining area (a wooden shack with plexiglass windows standing on what used to be parking spaces) isnt really outdoors. Its fully enclosed. There are screens between the tables, and the decor is oddly charming. They got more creative with the nautical decor than most of the competition Ive seen. They even added heat lamps.
This is a nice setting with reasonably priced food. The appetizer trio of dips was very good but the main courses were average. The chicken was very bland and the rice tasted like it was from a box. I would expect better rice from a restaurant that serves it with every dish. Our tomato and avocado salad had cucumbers that has gone bad and were bitter which was disappointing.
Nice place , server was friendly and communicable. Food was good , but more expensive that I think. Lamb meat wasn’t tender. No refills for the soda drink.
Absolutely delicious!!! If you’re considering this place, definitely go!Lamb burger = 11/10Falafels = 12/10 (best I’ve ever had)Lokal’s favorite dips = 7/10 (I’d only get the babaganoush and hummus next time)The service was excellent, Okan and co were super nice and attentive!
I came to New York City for a job. I had dinner at the restaurant called Lokal two nights in a row and the food was incredibly good and the staff was very friendly and friendly and I would recommend it to anyone visiting New York City
Amazing food and great service. Everything was absolutely delicious and the cocktails were great.
Got the Lokal Burger and it was amazing. The fries were very good, everything came out warn and i was surprised by the service. They were on top of it making sure we had water and that the food was good. The lamb chops were really good as well, great seasoning and perfectly cooked. Impressed with this eating spot. Would definitely recommend it for anybody, with people of all ages, kid friendly, accessible, beautiful atmosphere. Definitely coming back.
Great food and service. I really enjoyed the humus and the sautéed lamb. Did come in great proportions, and my glass was never left empty.
I got the salmon fillet it was medium sized and very good and my friend really enjoyed his lamb. the cocktail I got was kind of weak not my favorite. The waitress was very nice.
I had the chicken shish kebab and it was delicious. My brother had the lamb chops, and he said that they we’re cooked to perfection. Our group also had the 3 combo dip, Ajvar, humus and tatziki and it was delicious as well with the fresh served bread.
I had an enjoyable and pleasant time with great food and cocktails. My server, Mr. G, was nice and attentive. Great service was provided.
Tasty Mediterranean. Great dips and big portions. Only 3 little stuffed grape leaves, though. And they advertised Krusovice on their website and menu, but didnt have it. Bummed.
Great service and excellent food after a fun day hiking around NYC!
Bathan was terrific and braved a torrential downpour to serve us!
Excellent Mediterranean food, served with kindness and smile. Nice terrace on the street. We highly recommend.
Happened to be in the UWS and decided to stop in for a late lunch/ early dinner. The food was very fresh, well-seasoned and came out quickly. I had a vegetarian option with the falafel entree and my fiancé had the grilled lamb meatballs. They have options for all dietary needs. Ended with the chocolate lava cake that was really tasty. I would definitely come back for dinner again.
Bread is to die for. Food is fresh and delicious. Atmosphere is charming and warm. Service is excellent (thanks, Sinan!)
Delicious! Amazing salad, kunafeh for dessert, falafel and zucchini pancakes. Only complaint was that the calamari was way too salty; it was tender and the batter was crisp, but just too much salt.
Looked welcoming from outside and beautiful decore and plates but the food left something to be desired. Its almost there but not quite. Wine list is not elevated. If they adjust a bit it has potential to be great. Homemade bread they did get right.
Amazing ambience, food and staff. Must try is the Turkish bread with its wide selection of dips. Pick three for 16 bucks. The crab cake was delicious too. The lamp chucked sautéed was not so nice for me. Beautiful place to relax and sip your cappucino.
Nice brunch options with good service. The complementary bread is quite good.
Excellent Mediterranean dishes at this restaurant. We met up with family and friends here and they were very flexible about accommodating us. Very comfy space instead with great decor. I have to grill chicken which was excellent it was in on kabobs stick. my cousins husband had the sea bass which was excellent. And I love the Falafel. The way they make their Falafel mixture actually has flavorings in the chickpea mixture. They have a great drink selection so we all got something that we liked.
Everything was fresh and tasty. My only complaint was the place was really noisy. I dont know whether its the acoustics of the high ceilings or the enthusiasm of the diners, but my friend and I could barely have a conversation. Next time, Ill order the food delivered.
Loved it. I was early and sat at the bar enjoying happy hour, yummy food and excellent service.
Generous portions. Diverse selection of authentic foods. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu.
Amazing place to eat , the food is highly recommended
After a walk in Central Park it was a great little spot to relax and fuel up for the rest of our day. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options, and they have a lunch menu in addition to their full menu. We ordered the lamb burger and falafel wrap. The falafel was perfect, but would be better served in a pita or naan instead of a flour tortilla. A small side of tzatziki would also be ideal. But the flavor of the falafel and the freshness of the lettuce and tomato were spot on. Fresh water at the table after a long walk was helpful. If you don’t want any a food truck, I would recommend walking to this cute location.
Outstanding service and avocado/tomato/corn salad!
Excellent Mediterranean food! Batuhan was our waiter and he did a fantastic job!
Loved my first time here. I have allergies because of my babies (breastfeeding), and they were on top of making sure all items I ordered were safe to eat, double confirming with the chef and again when the items were placed at the table that everything was safe for me. Lovely experience, great food, nice atmosphere — will be back again! Thank you to our server, ALP
Its a magnificent place and everybody was so polite. If you love meat, then you must try the lamb chops
Lamb is great!!
Their are few things greater then coming home and your Queen having your food ready for you. In my dreams. But dinner today at @lokal83 was just as great and their coffee was fresh like they brewed it just for me. As a matter of fact, any restaurant who has fresh coffee at 3 in the afternoon is a five star rating. When someone says to me yes sir and thank you in addition to yummy food and coffee it touches my heart. It didn’t make my credit card scream either and for the UWS that’s saying a lot. This old man is a repeat customer from here on out. #kingofcoffeenyc #kingofmarijuananyc #yebunanegus #yebunanrgusnyc #foodie #vegetarian #coffeenyc #nyccoffee #nyc #uwsnyc #uws #lionofthebx
Great food! Portion is perfect for those who wants to stay in shape. Filafel entree is delicious and comes with healthy veggies. Good wine selection and the entire experience is very reasonable.
Had a wonderful lunch with friends here. Everything was delicious! Excellent service.
Wonderful food and wonderful menu at reasonable prices. Good service. We will be back!
Nice food and excellent service. I recommend it!!!
Had a great time with a friend lots of drinks and one heck of a branzino.
I loved the Lokal burger.. really worth the price. Very natural ingredients and rich flavor. Staff were super nice. Thanks Murat for the baklava, it was delicious
Batuhan was a terrific server and braved the torrential downpour to serve our meal. The food is consistently good here and I will continue to frequent the restaurant.
When you want to make a favorable impression, Lokal is the place!
Delicious food and wonderful staff! Can’t wait to dine here again. And better yet - like most restaurants in NYC they ask for and check all vaccination cards.
Good fresh food, excellent service. Went here after being looked down on by the snooty Italian place next door. Wound up taking food to go, mentioning that we needed to meet my uncle and would eat in central park and the waitress included 3 sets of Togo utensils without being asked.
The brunch menu has a good variety of dishes including some vegetarian and dairy free dishes, and of course some traditional Turkish breakfast dishes.I had the menemen which is a scrambled eggs and tomatoes dish. It was spicy which I wasnt expecting but not too spicy. It had a bit of a kick to it and I liked that. The dish felt pretty light but it for sure left me full and satisfied. My table also got the hummus and babaganoush which came with bread. Their bread is light and airy in the middle with a nice thin crust outside. I greatly enjoyed the babaganoush. The smell reminds me of sour cream and onion chips which are my favorite lol.For dessert, we had the blueberry lemon cheesecake. It was sweet but not too sweet, and the tangyness of the lemon balanced out the richness of the cheesecake nicely.Overall, everything was delicious and the staff was very nice to us.
Food tasted great. Service was quick and friendly. A bit expensive for what you get tho.
Great stop on the way to the American History Museum.Wonderful staff!
I have tried the kunafa and I would rate it 4 out of 5
Were fairly certain we are coming back!
Alp was the best. Great Mediterranean spot on the UWS.
Batuhan is the best! Great food.
Great place with an very welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food is trendy Turkish food and has good touch by its chef. Management knows how to handle patrons for their comfort during a nice egzotic yet NYC cheiuq night out.
Great comfort autentique food and cosy environment.
Food was kind of bland and expensive for what it was. Chicken shish was only 5 small pieces of chicken for 28$
This is a great, local joint that serves wonderful Mediterranean food. I liked the food because it wasn’t pretentious, felt like it was elegant, but also honest. The portions are great, decides that we had were wonderful. We ordered a lot of the appetizers and we enjoyed every single one of them without exception. The tables are very comfortable and the atmosphere inside is really accommodating. This is the second time I went to this restaurant, the first time I took someone for a date and they were really impressed. Today I went with two of friends and we had a great time. They have a really great wine selection, they have wonderful wines by the glass also which worked out great for me because I was curious about a few different wines they had so I could get what I wanted without ordering a bottle. It’s definitely recommended and I will definitely return.
Very attentive server. Great food, spaced out seating. Beautiful decor. I got the salmon and pear+arugula salad and it was delicious
The food at lokal is very delicious and there are many different types of turkish dishes that you can try. The atmosphere is also very nice. The food is pricey but it is DEFINETLY worth it. Make reservations on the weekends at night because they can get very crowded!!!
I cant recommend it. My own dish, zucchini pacakes, was fine, but overpriced and oily. My friends shared a dish that was just plain strange, grape leaves stuffed with salmon, that one strongly disliked and the other tolerated. There was not a lot of food for the money, the service was indifferent, and it wasnt gorgeous.
We had a great night! The food was amazing and our server Batuhan made our experience even better. We would definitely recommend!
Batuhan was so helpful in finding a dish that accomodated my many dietary restrictions! I am so grateful for his patience and hospitality. Delicious steak and calves liver!
This was my second time at Lokal and it has been a great experience both times. Service is great and the servers kept checking on me and my friend to make sure we were good. We ate appetizers and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.
The food is really tasty, we ordered the wraps with french fries and they were all really good! The service is also great, we were served by Batuhan, and he was really attentive and kind!
This was the perfect place for small plates and a late lunch. Great service and great food.
Everything was fresh and delicious, great staff. It hasn’t changed its standart for years 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Tried the falafel, pretty good. The fries are delicious! Clean restaurant, friendly staff. They were able to accommodate large group without reservation on a Friday afternoon.
I have been a loyal customer from the first day that LOKAL opened 6 years ago. The food, the staff and the atmosphere are great. If you love Mediterranean food, you will love LOKAL. I highly recommend them.
Lovely eatery, fantastic atmosphere and food was great, it was a bit on the pricy side but the food was well worth it.Alp was a great host and fun to converse with.
One of the best Mediterranean spots I ve been in a decade. Diverse Menu , generous portions, friendly staff and brunch all week 😍 . You can tell from the whole vibe that they are truly Mediterranean. I ordered the mix meze platter and it came with homemade bread which was delicious. Also they have daily cocktail specials. Go try them already, you wont be disappointed.
Best mediterranean food in Manhattan, Always fresh and the service is the best. I will always come back with my family.
Had dinner here. Server was a little brisk in his manner, but that changed mid-meal so I think he just was having a bad moment. The food and wine were good. Will return!
Its dips and bread are worth visiting. If you plan on coming to the museum near by, come here to try the fantastic bread and dips.
The food was absolutely delicious and fresh! The staff is very attentive and polite. Had a wonderful experience here.
Batu is the absolute best. The drinks were incredible and the food was amazing! He gave us great recommendations!
Yummy yummy
Food overall was good and and reasonably priced.
The food here is really delicious. The service is very friendly! Alp was awesome and gave us more olives!
Food was good and service was quick despite it being busy, mid afternoon. I prefer a quieter dining experience but if you like lively this place won’t disappoint.
Fantastic restaurant on the upper west side of Manhattan. I lived here for many years, and Lokal was not here in those days. If I move back, this will be one of my regular restaurants! Excellent service, food, and a great outdoor vibe!
I didn’t take picture, but the steak was really good.Bread was also amazing.
