Medi Wine Bar

We reserved for Sunday night and we got there earlier and they were flexible, and gave us a table within a few minutes. Service was fast and responsive, especially with our server Boyan. The ambience is very romantic, lots of candles, European music, not too loud allowing conversation, and soft lighting was a bonus. Food were big portioned and delicious. I highly recommend getting the lamb combo, which was the favorite of the evening for me. The sangria pitcher for only $30 was subtly strong and very flavorful. Overall, dining at Medi was a great experience!Love that they have an extra private dining space downstairs that’s also as charming.**Please note happy hour only applies at the bar.

Was invited here for a quick bite and meet-up, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was welcomed by management, who was extremely friendly and ready to give us the best experience. Despite not having space in the bar, they didnt hesitate to give us a table. Loved the happy hr menu, variety in wines & delicious bites/tapas. The dinner menu looks delicious, and I cant wait to be back. The only thing was, the waiter seemed to be new. He wasnt really sure as of what we were ordering and had to come to us twice for the drinks and twice for the food order, and after we paid and he came back and asked if we were ready for the check.

It was a fantastic day filled with beautiful wine aesthetics.The food was delicious, and the staff members were very friendly and helpful. I would give Medi Wine Bar 10 stars if I could. Love it!Thank you all for everything! 😌

Really good food and large wine selection (makes sense). Burger was really good but the real star are the Prix fixe menus which are a great deal for the area and quality of food. The sweet spot is pre-show menu. Panna Cotta was fantastic and the steaks are really well executed although may come undercooked compared to your selection.

I hosted my 30th birthday dinner at Medi Wine Bar and had the most beautiful evening. I had a large group of friends and we were easily accommodated in the beautiful wine cellar. The setting is very rustic and beautiful. We kept going on about how aesthetic the wine cellar was. On top of that, we were blown away by the food. There is such a variety of great items on the menu and you can tell the quality of the food and ingredients used are also excellent. Finally, the service was exceptional. Pedro was the manager working that day and he was so kind and gracious. Our waitress Fernanda was such a fun and vibrant person who took such good care of our table and also gave me wonderful life advice about turning 30. Loved my experience there and would definitely recommend!!

I recently dined at your restaurant and, unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. As a former restaurant manager, bartender, and server in NYC & working at World signature Restaurants I have a deep appreciation for the hospitality industry, and I was disappointed by the treatment we received. The waiter was curt and unwelcoming, particularly towards my son, which made our visit uncomfortable.Due to his attitude, we decided not to stay and continued our meal elsewhere. Having dined in far better establishments where service is prioritized, I believe that all guests deserve a warm and respectful atmosphere. Great place, folks sitting having wine at the bar while we dined at a table. The wait staff was really friendly we had Fernanda and she was happy to share her menu favorites with us. Pedro the manager came over and ensured we had a great experience by joining our table with another to make space for all the food and drinks we were having. There was also a server named Paolo who had the table next to us absolutely in stitches which made everything all that much better. Highly recommend.

I’m confused about this place. The service is outstanding, and the hospitality creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, the food leaves much to be desired. It lacks seasoning, flavor, and depth. Ironically, the best item I tried was the toasted bread. Investing in a skilled chef could truly elevate the dining experience to match the excellent service.

Nothing but great things to say about Medi! I hosted a bridal shower for my future daughter in law this past weekend. I was not disappointed! The shower was in the wine cellar… did you know they had a wine cellar? I didn’t!! It was quaint, charming, rustic. They were ready for us at our assigned time and I was able to embellish with my own flourishes. Our server “G” was a true standout! No one could have been more attentive or accommodating then he was! He even learned the names of all the guests! Remarkable! I still don’t know them all! Food was spot on. We had a bottomless brunch. No one wanted for anything! If you are looking for a charming venue for your next event, I would highly recommend Medi Wine Bar!

I had the lamb burger that was excellent. The bartender paired it with a Bordeaux that went perfectly. Service was attentive but not overly so. Ended with an espresso martini.

Awful place! Plates are too old, glasses are dirty, napkins are unwashed. Food is tasteless, even lettuce was not fresh. Horrible service and all this things with such prices🙈I really don’t recommend to come and waste your time and mood.The courtyard is interesting, but its not worth it

It’s more of a casual place for drinks/snacks than fine dining type of place. Had the prefix ($59/$79) of 3 course and it was good. Nothing wrong with it but also nothing particularly stood out. As it is called a wine bar I was a bit surprised the waiting staff didn’t seem to be particularly into wines. But there were several wines to choose from by the glass ($10-$20/glass).

Stopped into Medi Wine Bar for a quick drink before a show. This is a great spot on 9th Avenue for a date, didnt get a chance to try the food but the service was fantastic! I would highly recommend it here if youre looking for a chill place in the area.

Omg! Its was the best atmosphere, food, and service that we have had. Fernanda truly knows her wines and food. She picked all of our courses and wine. Everything was on point. Fernanda scored the 5 star for the restaurant!

Perfect date night spot. Has a lovely outside seating out the back and the whole vibe is very romantic. Definitely not a big dinner place.. more small plates and wine. We didnt eat so cant give it a 5 yet.. but definitely want to go back as the menu looked so good.. looked predominately Greece dishes. Wine we had was delicious.. Get the Californian Chardonnay!

We keep forgetting to explore the garden patios for a lot of these restaurants. Medis doesnt disappoint. Its the perfect escape from the street on a sunset afternoon. Grab a drink and light lunch and youll be quickly reminded why living in the city is so wonderful.Great options on the menu and even a pre-fixe lunch menu if youre in a rush. Be sure to review their cocktail menu because there are some intriguing choices to be made and worth coming back for!

This place is one of my favorite hidden gems in the city. The moment I walked in, I was thoroughly impressed with the aesthetic, vibes and decor- it felt comforting and inviting right away.They have really good happy hour deals, me and my friend split a bottle of Tempranillo which was perfect. I love trying new kinds of wine at different bars and they have a great list of exquisite wines. It’s also a great date spot- doesn’t get too crowded or loud which makes it easy to have good conversations.

A fantastic find using a “best restaurant’s near me search”. Honestly we don’t spend enough time exploring food on 9th Avenue - Hells Kitchen. The staff were super friendly, very knowledgeable about the food and wine offerings and made the whole afternoon a pleasurable event. The food we had (as pescatarians) was perfect and the recommended wine was really very good Highly recommend a visit here

Service was top notch. Michael our server was phenomenal even with a large group. Very patient and very attentive.Pro:- large menu- variety / options for vegetarians- drink menu and custom cocktails- service- food was ok. I think if we had a smaller group the food would have come out better and a little hotter. I think they tried to time our party to get food at the same time, but it didnt work as well as hopped.Con:- because we were a large group we were pretty much on top of each other (still fun)Overall it was a great spot and will keep coming when i can!

Attended a communion brunch at this place. Staff was great Gabriell was very warm and welcoming food was outstanding try the Michilada. Even though I can’t remember his name but the tall waiter even saw us on the streets a few hours later and he was even nicer on the streets out in public what a great job with customer service.

Pita with spreads for an app was very good. We had the Medi salad, lemon papperdelle, the pasta special (pasta alla forna with wild mushrooms) and duck confit - all were top notch. The mushroom pasta was especially fantastic. The panacotta for desert was also very tasty, and the bartender made great Manhattans. It was quiet, so we were able to talk. The servers were lovely. It was truly just a great evening.

One of the best places to dine. Atmosphere is beautiful, especially the outside garden seating, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Portions got smaller and higher price. Their outside tables are not stable which led to red wine spilling all over my pants. Had to go home to change because I was soaked and pants ruined. They did not comp anything nor did the manager come over to say anything.

This review is for our visit on September 20, 2024. We made a last minute reservation for a large party because a different restaurant cancelled on us (I’m now glad they did!) and the service was AMAZING at Medi. The staff called me before to discuss everything, and was ready for us when we arrived. They were all very friendly and helpful. We sat on the back patio which was awesome for a large party. The food and atmosphere were top notch. We had so much fun. Thank you Medi!!

Sat here it was completely dead besides one other couple at the bar. Sat for 25-30 mins with no service menu closed ready to order. The bar tender completely ignored me. I walked out with my cash in hand

The food! The vibe! The drinks! The decor! Last but not least - the incredible waitstaff! You will come here on a Saturday for brunch and stay all day. You will go to Medi and not want to go anywhere else! You will befriend the owner and staff and life will be great! My only fault is that I didn’t find Medi sooner.

$2 blue point oysters on happy hour, and some delicious entrees. I showed up alone and sat at the bar, and was immediately made to feel welcome by the manager and bartenders. Will definitely return.

Threw an event here and it was good but the client service afterwards was pretty shocking. Had to call and email multiple multiple times for a receipt and when making inquiries on the bill the team was very defensive and just had an attitude of trying to get rid of me. Would caution others on throwing events here as the team can be quite combative.

The food was delicious. Would be a five star but how does a restaurant run out of feta cheese for its dipping plate but still have enough leftover for my Greek salad. In any case Im not complaining. The food was delicious! The ricotta cheese black truffle gnocchi were stupendous! The taste in your mouth explodes with flavor, richness and density that made me want to order a second plate. Their warm apple cake with vanilla ice cream dessert with sliced strawberry was the perfect ending to a delicious dinner. Prices are reasonable and its understood that establishments are making up for lost covid time.. their backyard outdoor dining is definitely one of the cutest NYC has to offer. Definitely worth your time and patronage!!!

Met a friend early before a show (6 pm) and the place filled up quickly. Great happy hour deals if you sit at the bar. I liked that your wine is offered in several sizes between a glass and a bottle. Staff was very friendly.

This was one of the best dining experiences Ive had in a very long time. My friend and I shared the prefix menu and other entrees and when the server noticed we would be cramped for space he brought over another table for us to use. Those little things are a big deal to me. Add that to the food being exceptional and youve earned a repeat customer for sure! Well done!

We have been here before and have had great food. Not tonight! Lamb was undercooked. Risotto was crunchy. Duck was dry and barely edible and it was a terribly expensive meal. I will never return to this restaurant.

The restaurant was a nice refuge from the nights street, charming Lil space. Decent flavors but The zucchini patties were mashed together and overcooked on the outside and mushy on the inside, overall they lacked presentation. The chicken was overcooked too, resting on a boring salad. Dessert looked promising, but I didnt order.

Had a birthday party on the lower level with a group of 14 people. I was able to make a reservation on Open Table just the day before which was really great because i originally expected 20 people and was afraid i wouldnt be able to find a place last minute.The atmosphere in the wine cellar was really cool and cozy, the curtains break up the space nicely, so you get a feel of a bit of privacy. The food was really good, absolutely everyone at the table was happy with their choice. The highlights for me were ricotta gnocchi (the bomb!) and the special of the night, grilled red snapper.However the two dollar signs on Google and Open Table do not reflect the prices accurately. The place was definitely more expensive than that. And their 4 credit cards maximum policy turned an amazing evening into a nightmare as most of the people didnt know each other, so 4 cards couldnt pay for 14 people... So between cards, cash, and venmo it took us at least 25 minutes to figure out the payment in the end, which totally killed the mood. It was seriously upsetting. In other places they usually take at least 6-7 cards for large groups, and sometimes can be even more accommodating. So taking one star off for this nuisance.

I wanted to get away from the usual recommended places. This is a great option. The food was creative but not intimidating. Like the small (bite) portions, allows for numerous bursts of flavor. The ambience was lovely and service was friendly. The manager made sure that we were doing well, which is not common in NYC. Love it.... Even though it can be pricey... Oh well not everything is perfect... Still at least 4 stars

I made a reservation for 6 people. Our cocktails were great and the ambiance included medium volume dance music and candlelight. Everyone had a good time and our service was good. I will say that 3 of us ordered the branzino, and the individual who asked for it to be grilled and consist of the whole fish did it right. It looked like the other 2 dishes were baked in the oven and mine did not come out well done, picture attached. Would definitely come back but would not order the branzino again.

Our second visit was just as impressive as the first. The Branzino was phenomenal and the dipping tray appetizer is a must.

My grilled chicken smelled like raw chicken. No marination and minimum spices was used that day! For a restaurant with such price I was expecting a lot better.

Came here for brunch and sat in the lovely terrace out back in the sunshine. Its brunch menu was very varied. Coffee was good and my portion of smoked salmon and scrambled egg was generous. Lost a star because the waiter was curt with me when I entered and wanted to sit whilst waiting for a friend but others were lovely enough.

Used to come here regularly but will not come back anymore. Food is ok overall (perhaps a bit on the pricey side). However, the service is not great. In our most recent reservation, I tried to reserve a table in the cellar (that they claim is open) for Sunday brunch for a group of 15. However, they refused to accommodate the cellar seating request. Further, they were aloof and made it seem as though they are doing us a favor in our e-mail exchange. Why, I dont understand? Even the main dining room is rarely busy on Sundays and I was simply asking for a table reservation in the cellar. The manager called me when I passed on Medi via e-mail and then refused to listen to what I have to say. Why call in the first place?

A lovely Mediterranean wine bar in Hells Kitchen with a great back garden. Delicious food and excellent wine selection. One of the best places in Hells Kitchen.

I walked in, and I already felt comfortable. Sat at the bar and had $1 clams to start. Sooo good! They were pretty big and theyre nice and fresh. Had a crazy chocolate moose ball with a Dulce de Leche drzzle.., Amazing! Gonna definitely be back for dinner. Make sure you say hi to Sammy, the bartender... good people.

Everything about this place is amazing. Its so funny that I never knew about it, since I have eaten at El Centro so many times! I went there with a few friends, we all ordered different dishes, and each one was AMAZING! Same for the desserts and Im not even a dessert kind of guy. Highly recommend! I wish I had taken pictures of the food to add to this review.

Horrible experience! The waiter tried to pressure us into getting a bottle of wine for $56 which he said went for over $80 in the market, but we googled it and found out that it went for $20. A giant rat crawled by our feet and we found a fly in our water. The management did not care when we informed them of this. To top it all, the food was awful

I went here for brunch. It is a great boozy brunch deal. You order an entree and order as many pictures of mimosas and bloody Marys you want for a set price. My omelette was great.

Good Mediterranean food, the homemade gnocchi are very good as wells as the veal chops. Would also recommend the burrata and cheese and meats boards as appetizers. The back garden area is cute and quiet, a great spot for a date.

The food was tasty once we finally received it. Service was not attentive and pricing was inflated for what you received. Menu was limited. Our table was by the service station so not the greatest atmosphere. We tried it once before and decided to give it a second chance and now know well not be there again.

Honestly has been a go to place for us in Hell’s Kitchen for a while now. Really, Sammy (the bartender) creates such a great experience and is truly a vibe. The food and drinks are delicious, especially the Espresso Martini and I love a negroni. Recommend the Cauliflower and Hummus Tray. Entree wise the Lion Steak is delicious. One qualm I have is the speed of the kitchen. Sometimes food takes longer than I would like but it’s a good place to relax and spend an evening with a very eurocentric ambiance that feeds the time it takes to get your food..

I love that this is in my neighborhood. Indoor and outdoor space is cool, especially in the back. You must get lucky and have ARTAN as your server. He is the best! Knowledgeable and old school polite, and exact in everything. Im coming back just for him. Oh, the food. Slam dunk.

The garden at Medi is worth the wait and the expense and the line. The small plates are delicious and they make really good recommendations about wine, but mostly the winning factor is the garden. Sipping wine on a beautiful day outside in the middle of a nice garden in Manhattan is totally awesome.

Service is aloof, though the wine is decent. You may find yourself sitting at a half empty bar, yet receive not attention unless you wave your arms at the bartender. A bit pretentious overall, and prices seem to reflect that.

Disappointing service...A ‘wine bar’ which, despite lots of empty tables on a Saturday night, treats customers not ordering food with indifference. Having brought a large group and spent a significant amount on wine we were then unable to split a check onto more than 4 cards.

I planned to host a private event at Medi this past weekend (my sisters bridal shower) and talked to the owner, Dorian, about using their private space downstairs. The space was perfect for our needs given we needed a private area where our guests could walk around and mingle so they did not bother the other patrons. The owner agreed to let us host the party in his basement, according to him it was the right time given it was June and warming up outside. He said he could use the patio for any overfill from their main dining room.A week prior to the event I confirmed the headcount and had to follow up a number of times to have the contract reflect the new headcount. On Friday afternoon before my event I decided to call the restaurant to see if we could come in to decorate/set up and a woman named Bella asked what we wanted to set up for because according to her, we couldnt come more than 15 minutes prior to the party. Now if any of you have hosted a prvate event, specifically a bridal shower, you should know there are lots of logistics that come along with the party such as decorations, arranging the tables, display of gifts, etc… the fact that she only allowed us to come in 15 mintues prior to the party really surprised me.I asked to speak to Dorian and was told he was traveling overseas and unreachable. Bella also stated that she did not want us to disturb the other diners that woudl be in the room. I was floored when I learned that they decided to use our agreed to private dining space in the basement for overflow. We had a contract that specifically stated this would be a private dining event and this action was a breach of our contract. When I asked what changed she said that if we wanted to rent the whole room it would now be $3K. Since that was much more than even the max occupancy * price per person (60 people x $30 pp) I knew that wouldnt work for us but given the shower was to take place the next day I asked if we could compromise and have 1/2 the room.Bella rudely ansered no, that we would get a table in the back corner and that was the best they could do. When I asked her what I could do with the gifts people would be bring and how we would conduct the shower games, she was very rude and curt and just said that we would get that corner and there would be no room for mingling. I was desperate on a friday afternoon before the party to make things work so I asked how we could compromise and she just countered back that there was no compromise and the only thing they could give us was the corner table. She then left for the day not looking for a way to settle this. This left me scrambling for a new place just hours before hosting the shower for 25 people.I normally dont take the time to write negative reviews if I get mediocre service or a bad dish, but I am seriously seeking legal options due to this b*tch Bella. I would definitely NOT recommend any one dine here or be associated with the type of people who runs this establishment. Its one thing to be rude at a table or serve a mediocre dish, its entirely another thing to breach a contract the day before an event and try to extort a customer out of more money. My experience with Bella alone has left a terrible taste in my mouth. She has no customer service skills and was a complete b*tch to deal with. I stumbled upon this place from a referral… but I hope me sharing my experience will make anyone looking to host an event here or dining here think twice.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My boyfriend and I needed to use the bathroom so we went here and bought 2 glasses of wine to go. They charged $45 for the 2 glasses. My boyfriend is too nice and he wouldnt fight the charge. However, this is unacceptable. These people should be out of business for robbing people in this way.

Both the dishes and the cocktails are good. Only the space between tables are small so it was hard to listen to my friends. The staff are very friendly.

Every choice looked appealing and this pasta was so delicious. Great atmosphere and very kind and attentive service.

Ordered the special seafood pasta and it didnt disappoint. Plenty of fresh seafood including a half lobster, perfectly seasoned light tomato sauce, and al dente pasta with just the right amount of bite. I agree with some reviewers that prices are a bit high (my pasta was $46), but this pasta easily could have fed two and it contained a generous amount of fish plus it was delicious. Ordered a martini and it was well made and ice cold. Service was a bit awkward with servers hovering and waiting for something to do cause the place was a bit empty. But all in all, Id definitely come back!

The ambiance and backyard patio is exactly what you want when walking into an Italian restaurant in NYC. The S.Pellegrino water and mixed olives with the fresh warm breadbasket invite your appetite to devour the homemade pasta and sea food delivered by the authentic Italian server next. Wr ate here for both lunch and brunch while in NYC and found the place charming, accommodating and delicious. Highly recommend stopping here!

Great brunch menu and outdoor seating area, they even have a garden in the back. Staff is very friendly and doesnt rush you.

Admittedly I only had drinks here but it was such a pleasant surprise in Hells Kitchen I had to review it. First of all they have so much more than wine!! The service was attentive, the atmosphere pretty and welcoming with soft lights and flowers all around. I met a guy for a 1st date, hence no food (he was cheap too apparently;) but the menu looked great--Mediterranean with appetizers and main courses--and theyre open on Mondays:)

I went for dinner on New Years Eve with my boyfriend. I had the Angus beef steak. It was really good. Even though it was well done. It wasnt dry at all. He had the crispy skin salmon. He liked it. The hostess was nice and the server was attentive.

I have been to Medi Wine Bar a few times and every time we are greeted at the door with friendly staff and the smell of unbelievable food. I really want to speak about one of the servers named G. He had been our server (by our choice) every time we have been there. He has made us feel like this is our place. Like family coming by. We will make this a regular stop when we are in town and I hope you do too. You wont regret it. Say Hi to G

Unpleasant environment (either loud music or sit outside in the cold), and very expensive food of very poor quality.We spent $120 for a meat mix. More than half of it was sausages, and I believe the meet was not fresh, based on the taste and the nauseas, and frequent toilet trips I had the day after.Ive paid this price for an all you can eat stake house which suburb quality and amazing environment. I cant imagine why would anyone go here.

Sit in the garden during lunch if you go! I was pleasantly surprised by their lunch special with lobster and clams. Their wines were yummy and the waitress we had was very knowledgeable about their menu and options even offering ways we could share to taste more of what we wanted.Cute for a lunch meeting or casual hang.

It was such a unique experience, late on Saturday night. When most restaurants are preparing or have shut down and theres nowhere else to go.....We stumbled across this little oasis in the late night desert of restaurants with closed kitchens.I loved it so much I really wanted to go back the following day for brunch!!

The hummus and pita plate is a disgrace. They give you one piece of pita that was not made in house and three big bowls of dip for 20$ and you have to pay for each additional piece of pita you eat. The food was high quality but the appetizer was so absurd how they charge you per piece of pita. They seriously give you one tiny piece and three massive bowls of dip so we asked the waiter for more pita and each additional piece of not in house made pita is like 5 bucks which we didn’t learn about until we got the check because the guy offered it like yeah let me just get you some because you barely touched your massive dip bowls. If you are paying 20$ for a pita and dip appetizer you guys got to give enough pieces of pita to enjoy the dips. It felt like I got robbed when I saw the bill. 155$ dollars for two people and it didn’t wow us.

Very nice place for wine and some tapas style food. Atmosphere and service were very pleasant. Good date place. We came here for dinner and departed a little hungry for the money we spent, but that is more on us for not realizing that this is not a heavy dinner place, like nearby Italian restaurants.

Food quality and service good if a bit pricey for what it is. Wine portions are deceptive: what they call a quartino of wine is really just a glass, so they are inflating their prices. A quartino is typically 250mL or about 1/3 of a bottle of wine. A single glass is typically around 150mL, which is what they give you for what they call a quartino. Bottom line, you get overcharged for wine here.

Wow. Amazing food. We had the octopus and steak kebob for appetizers, and Greek salad and parpadelle pasta for main. Everything was delicious! The pasta was heavenly! It’s pricey but worth it!

We wandered in without reservations and were promptly seated and served. Espresso was robust and excellent. The omelet and steak and egg were delicious. The staff were attentive and appropriately personable.

I was expecting a little more based on the website and the prices. The food was pretty good but definitely seemed overpriced. The service was fine but again not as refined as I was expecting walking in. The happy hour looked popular but is only available at the bar.

We felt pretty comfortable enjoying our talks and we could actually hear each other. There was a low key background music (5+ for the playlist).Only I was charged one drink extra (my mistake not checking the bill before swiping the cc), but other then that great service.

The wine list is quite extensive albeit a bit pricey for some of the available options. The staff is quick and attentive, and the space is nice and has a fun vibe. i probably wouldnt frequent this wine bar based on the prices, but for a night out at a relatively quiet midtown locale, its a nice hangout.

Its always a pleasure to drink and eat at Medi! The food is delicious. The drinks made by Matt and Edison are delicious! I always keep coming back for a meal once or twice a week. I feel the establishment needs a new 🙏 contemporary Greek Island look! Medi is a place where lovers of all backgrounds and likes can feel they can be themselves. Free loving with their significant other. I love this restaurant.
